Very spacious and clean pools. About 50-100 tanning lounge chairs to choose from. Very attentive lifeguards. Snack bar is available as well. A diving pool, Olympic pool, swimming lanes, adult section, and various feet of water to swim in. This is all included when you pay the one time fee for the day. So sad I only learned about them towards the end of the summer! They close on Labor Day. Will definitely make it a staple to come back next summer.

Very kids/toddler-friendly. The sizeable shallow end has several sprinklers/splash fountains for children to play in, and there are slides on both the kiddie and adult sides. Also a playground in the back (not affiliated with the pool). There are always many life guards on duty every time I've gone. The pool is accessible only to Clarkstown residents and their guests, so if you're not a resident befriend someone who is. You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.

On a recent visit it was nice to see that the previous snake-ridden den of iniquity has long been been replaced with a legitimate pool and that the mythological beasts of years past have been slayed by chlorine and actual cement walls. You can even see right to the bottom. What a concept. This is what Nanuet Lake should have been like all along... no thanks whatsoever to my parents who thought this was some tough love version of Shangri La, albeit minus the all consuming bliss one often finds in paradise. I kid about my parents (almost) and am happy to bestow five easy stars for a childhood reclaimed. I still hate snakes.

They are definitely watching, making sure everyone is safe and following the rules, are they are actually nice using words like buddy and dear to speak to the children. They have 2 nice locker rooms for males and females, showers, changing rooms. They also have a small con-session stand with food, drinks, candy, and ice cream. It has a fake little sand/beach area. Over looks Manhattan, there is also a wrist band needed for every 45min shift. For 15 mins each hour the pool is tested. For a few bucks you get a diving pool, indoor and outdoor pools, steam rooms and sauna. It's open every day of the week from the early morning to nearly 10pm (normally, pre-covid). The indoor pool is lined with plants and palm trees. Outdoors there's room to sunbathe. There are programs for children and older people as well. You really do get a lot for your money. I can't say much about anyone's attitude, I just pay and I go in. The lifeguards are very good here and manage what can be very rowdy kids and teens in summer. Who in their right minds thinks that running on wet concrete would end well, otherwise? My only gripes are with the older people who come here and take up swim lanes expressly meant for fast swimming, or jump into lanes where people are already doing laps and then decide to just slowly walk. I do wish the lifeguards would be stricter and tell them to go to other parts of the pool, instead. And some of the rules they have posted about "obscene language" or changing clothes in the locker rooms seem weirdly out of time. Despite that, what's better than coming to the pool after a long day at work in the evening with the stars out and crickets chirping or on a hot day?

Good thing there are about 10 plastic lounge chairs (that are heavily padlocked and chained to each other) at the back that go quickly Cons: * Because it's a public free pool- there are tons of rules and staff is very strict. Honestly I'd prefer rules and strict versus total chaos at the pool * Changing rooms and showers are gross!! It smells and there is never any toilet paper. Make sure to wear flip flops because the floors are disgusting. Tips: * If you want quiet, don't come to the Friday morning session because there are a million kids running and screaming.

There are NO snack machines NO items allowed by the pool except towel + water NO basic amenities of chairs, umbrellas, etc NO clean restrooms (they're there, just dirty) There are, however: plenty cranky "workers" who will inspect every inch of your bagged items, a "guard" at every door of this labyrinth of a public pool, and fencing around the perimeters is the pool for, God knows why. I regret coming here. I'll stick with the pool at my gym, thanks
