I visited Scouts coffee bar while visiting my friend for the weekend. We stopped in around 9am and I was pleasantly surprised and how adorable this place was like straight out of a hallmark movie! Upon entry the barista remembered my friend and she was so kind with helping me make a latte and pastry selection! We both ordered the ginger molasses latte and I ordered the savory whirligig to go (I can't wait to try that later on). As we waited, I perused the store and noticed they had merchandise that included Scout coffee beans made in house, greeting cards, Christmas ornaments and decor, sweatshirts and mugs. I cannot get over how much I loved this shop. Great coffee, incredible vibes, strong wifi, cozy nooks to sit and get some work done or relax for a bit, and some tasty lite bites. I got the iced oat milk latte and a chocolate chip cookie and 5 stars to both. They also have a big section of things that would be so great for gifts (for other people or yourself of course) like records, mugs, greeting cards, candles, etc. I didn't get anything on this trip but so saw much I wanted to splurge on. ALSO this little street they are on is so awesome! Plenty of street parking out front the day I stopped by, a brewery across the street and a few other shops I would definitely want to check out one day soon. Cute, local coffee shop that occupies two storefronts. Upon entering, on your left, you have the mercantile part, and on your right, the coffee bar. But EVERYWHERE you look, there's an eclectic menagerie of repurposed furniture. I have ZERO skill in used anything but THEY make it work! It's charming, cool, and date I say, Earthy. In the front window is a table for two but the table is an old Singer sewing machine table. I mean, how cool! Around the corner there are sofas & more seating. Just a neat little place! HUGE selection of teas. Black, green, herbal. And coffee. Lots of it. Of course. A nice variety of scones, muffins, croissants, and such. All of which they make in house. I asked. And while the coffee was cheap, the pastries were not. I got the Lavender Shortbread and it was delicious! Housed half of it while waiting for my coffee. I really liked this place and the lady that helped me but my only gripe was how dark it was. I like dark with cocktails but I like light with coffee. I ate outside. read more

Scout's Coffee Bar & Mercantile is a hidden gem in High Bridge. It is located in the heart of it all on a narrow downtown street. In fact, don't forget to tuck your vehicles mirror in when you park. Scout's is quaint and cozy, so be ready to possibly wait in line to place your coffee order. Not only do they offer a wide range of coffee beverages, but they have teas, and a great selection of breakfast bites. I had planned on ordering a croissant, but when I got to the counter to order, they were all out at the time. It seemed that they were cooking more in the downstairs area, but I was warned it could be a while. I went with the chicken salad sandwich instead. I know, that was a quick left turn, but the chicken salad sounded good. My husband got a basic coffee and the oatmeal. You don't get your order after paying. They prepare orders as they come in and it seemed that they were behind. It was very busy when we stopped in. We found a place to sit and then a little while later we were alerted that our order was ready. I loved the neighborhood feel of Scout's. I loved that it was a welcoming place of all people. It was warm, homey, and locally owned. That is the type of place that we love to support. We liked everything we ordered. The only comment I would make is that the chicken salad along with the bread they served it on was a VERY dry combination. It needed some moisture or some softness. It was difficult to swallow at times because my throat was so incredibly dry. If I happen to be in town again, and I can stop in, I would just order something else. It was not bad, it just has room for improvement. Overall, we loved our time spent at Scout's. And we were happy to stop in and support. read more

Bought two ice coffees and and lemonade. Each of us literally took a couple sips of our drinks and ended up throwing them in the trash. The ice coffee's tasted like day or two old stale gas station coffee poured over ice. The lemonade was very sour. $9.00 down the drain. First and last time we'll go there. read more

Always love this place the baristas are simply so sweet I have been here so many times- one time they gave me their smoky marshmallows to go with my hot chocolate...j love. AND THEYRE SAUCE, get the sauce that comes with their breakfast wraps in the fridge next to the door, SO FUCKING GOOD. And the lattes are always so fluffy tasting I don't believe they have coconut milk so most of the time I do regular because the oat in my opinion is funky but maybe that's all oat milks I don't know not an oat girlBut their parlor is so pretty everything is decorated so nice the bathrooms are always clean, I always come here to do my schoolwork. Best coffee around and my default go-to. Try the hot latte with maple. Food I've tried is also good and fresh. The chocolate croissant is always good and the ricotta w prosciutto is my favorite although can be a little pricy. Overall 5/5 would recommend. read more

Friendly staff. I ordered a cold brew coffee with no ice and five pumps of lavender. I also got a muffin tasted goGave a good tip due to the pandemic. I got something that looks more like cool tea. Tastes not like coffee and is very watered down. I like strong cold brew and what I got was water with a hint of coffee. UPDATE: Owner sent me a message the day after. Meaning she amended and explained to new barista that cold brew take long to brew. Good cappuccinos brought me back. But after being charged 50 cents for asking for not too much ice in my cold brew, I won't be coming back. With $8-9 drinks on the menu, that is just bad business. This is probably one of the cutest coffee shops I've ever been to. The interior decor is very cozy with mugs, shirts, candles, and other home goodies available for purchase. Their coffee menu is pretty standard but the taste is great. They also have a fridge stocked with wraps (vegetarian/vegan friendly options available!). I've only tried the sausage & sweet potato wrap but it was delicious. As for coffee, I really like the maple syrup in a latte. They offer a CBD latte which I've noticed many coffee shops started doing. They recently opened their expanded indoor seating area and it looks great. Scout's is great! read more

I am at Scouts with my family or on my own in some capacity at least once a week. The breakfast burritos are yummy, as are the avocado toasts, and the fresh baked pastries. It's a great spot for before or after a hike or ride on the Columbia Trail, to work from, or to grab a quick gift and card for an occasion. There is so much love poured into this place. Wow, so glad I discovered this place on my trip home to NJ. The coffee was fantastic, and the ambiance in the shop is great. They have such a wide section of Harney & Sons teas, and specialty coffees. I ordered a lavender latte, and my brother ordered a Paris tea latte. I wasn't sure what to expect for either drink, but they were perfect. The barista did a great job of explaining what they consisted of. Next time I'm back in town I'll be there! We discovered Scouts by accident while looking for close adventures among Covid times. Hidden gem! We've been 3 times in the past 2 months, despite it being 20 min out of the way from our normal travel. Great coffee & tea flavor options! I'm a big fan of lavender flavored drinks and excited to both find this on the menu and that they make/sell their own simple syrup! Breakfast burritos were yummy - you can take them to-go cold or they will warm them up - wish there was a GF option for these, though. Staff & owner always super friendly. This is a cute little coffee shop right on the main street of High Bridge. We stopped here for coffee after a bike ride/run on the Columbia Trail, which is right nearby. The coffee shop definitely has a hipster aesthetic, but it's not too over the top. It's very relaxing, and I would love to study or do work here. We got their drip coffee, which was excellent! The staff were all very helpful in explaining the different options they had. They also had really cute cards and stationery to purchase, and would be perfect for any office. Overall, this is a really cute spot in High Bridge. These little places are something we need more of in this area, and I'm so happy to see this one. I would come back here again for coffee, a pastry, or even to try one of their salad bowls! read more
