Food was excellent! We got the haysticks appetizer which is essentially a pepperoni pizza cut into squares. The menu is all "personal" size pizzas. I couldn't tell if they were 12" or 14". I asked the server before ordering if the pizza were personal size or meant to be shared and she said they can feed 1-2 people. I completely agree with that assessment; had I not eaten so much of the appetizer I would have eaten all of the pizza. I'm a big guy with a big appetite, so I could see one pizza easily feeding two people and both of them being happy about it. Service was awesome, but one caveat. We were eating at noon on a Saturday and there wasn't anyone else there so we got as much attention as we wanted. It also meant our food came out really fast (on their menu they warn that the pizzas may take 30 minutes to come out and ours came out in about 10 minutes. Ambience was nothing special, probably because no one was there. I bet the vibe is pretty awesome when it's busier. We were able to park on the street outside, and I could see parking being an issue if the parking ramp close to the place isn't open. Would go here again and would recommend if ur in Terre Haute and looking for good non pizza chain pizza. Scout's was recommended to us, so we took their word for it! The service was sub-par, but I think it was a college student who did not have any experience in the food industry. I think with some more training and work on confidence, this could be improved. As a recommendation, I think having a photo of the apps would be helpful -- our table ordered the hay fries and were surprised that they were just a pizza cut differently. We would have ordered something else had we known. There is also a weird vibe at the restaurant -- I think the acoustics need some engineering because it felt a little off with how quiet it was. The soda also seemed off -- I think the syrup ratio was incorrect. The Dr. Pepper tasted like cherry cough syrup. It's also odd that all drinks come in super tiny cups -- water and sodas alike. Bringing pitchers of water to table would help. The pizza is okay -- not quite on par with Italian-style pizza though (I'm a lucky gal who has been to Napoli which is peak italian pizza). There are some bugs to work out -- I hope they can keep moving forward and implement some changes! read more

My best friend once told me that Scouts was in her top three favorite pizza joints, and if you knew us, you'd know that meant something! So when we were wondering through Terre Haute recently, I knew it had to be in the plans. We ordered the Hot Honey pizza, Spicy BBQ pizza, Goat cheese and marinara dip, and the cheese bread. The goat cheese and marinara was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. I couldn't stop eating it. My second favorite was the hot honey pizza. I know everyone is doing it right now, but this is one of the best renditions I've seen so far. The crust is wood fired but not "too" burnt. Perfect! Our service was quick and friendly. I got my food an hour ago and it arrived soggy, the dought was a bit under cooked the pineapples were fermenting. Then not to mention, the pizza it was flavorless and gross. This means it takes a little while to get your food once you order, but the wait is worth it. My one complaint is that the price point is a little above what I originally expected ($16-20 a pizza) but it's not too bad considering how delicious my pizza was. read more

What a gem! Parked right next to The Verve on East Wabash, Scout's brings the heat. Whether it's delicious cheesy bread or goat cheese appetizers, salads or their signature stone-fired pizzas, you won't be disappointed Our party of five was greeted immediately by Jaiden, who promptly took our drink orders and answered a few questions about the menu. (And yes, they have a gluten-free crust option!) The aforementioned goat cheese/marinara dip (holy delicious!) quickly arrived with some pita-style pizza crust chips and the cheese bread was a hit. Scout's is upfront about their preparation and cooking process, letting you know online and on their in-person menu that their made-from-scratch pizzas are cooked in a stone-fired oven and might take up to 30 minutes to arrive. We were pleasantly surprised when ours (four total pies) arrived in just under 20 minutes, but it didn't take us long to realize that the pizza was so good we would have waited twice that long, and maybe even longer! Ingredients ranging from hot honey to arugula to goat cheese to pepperoni were noticeably fresh and plentiful across each of our respective pizzas, and the pies themselves were cut cleanly and evenly. Simplistic but very, very satisfying. All in all, five stars! (Side note: I'm a veteran of more than a few kitchens and bars, and I haven't seen efficiency like I saw at Scout's in a long time. Jaiden handled the front of the house like a pro, topping off waters and teas and running appetizers, salads and pizzas to every corner of the restaurant, while Scout was all over the food prep and plating in the back (and being amazingly consistent with fantastic presentation, I might add.) Give it some time. ...when something new and innovative comes into your small, backward town. Embrace it for awhile even if it has some bumps. We arrived and the place was packed. The restaurant isn't very big, but it is partnered with the nearby Verve cocktail bar. So, one can have dinner at the Verve (if the college kids haven't taken the place over) as an option. We ate in the Verve as we showed up at around 5:30 and had a hard time finding a seat. The Verve was way classier than I remembered as a college student and was very nice. We never had any Scout's pizza staff as our waiter as we ate at the bar and the bartender was nice enough to be our waiter. ___________________________ I want to love this place so bad... but it needs room to grow. The pizza took over an hour to come out, luckily we were well into inebriation you care too much. But, people were leaving as the orders couldn't be filled. When we got the pizza, it came in a to-go container even though we (and the bartender) specified we were eating in. We also did not have any plates, silverware, or condiments/napkins available.. but, we played it cool because this is a new place in a unique situation. Bumps are bound to happen. The pizza itself was a little underdone for a wood fired pizza with little to no char and over floured. Each bite was full of what tasted like raw flour. The Farmhouse was full of balsamic vinegar and pesto in each bite but lacked a creaminess that we were looking for, and tasted a little underwhelming. But, we might need to try a different pie next time? Ultimately, I would have loved to experience the restaurant again before I post any realistic rating. We stayed in Terre Haute on our way to Michigan, and the time change from central to eastern time caught us a little bit by surprise. The end of June in a college town can be a little slow, and we came in pretty close to closing time. Haley was extremely gracious and did a great job! The pizza was great and there is a local beer selection on draft. It's right across the street from a couple hotels and within walking distance from the Larry Bird statue. read more

Tried a this new pizza joint today for dinner. Building looks interesting for sure. The problem is it seems run by a bunch of kids. The girl at the front gave me my pizzas and didn't give the sauces we ordered. As she gave sauces I put them in the box and noticed the pizza was completely wrong. No apology, no compensation, not even much of a comment from anyone. They simply made another pizza while I waited inside with my wife and 18 month old out in the car. Update: they remade the pizza incorrectly. So I had to sit and wait on another pizza to be made while three girls at the counter, who didn't seem to be doing a whole lot of work, giggled to themselves and looked at me judgingly. They then asked me four different times what the pizza was supposed to be. Twice one girl repeated it incorrectly. Pizza taste: the pizzas do taste better than chain establishments but they only come in 12 inch size. I'll be skipping this in the future. Tried their pizza twice. First the Farmhouse. Why would anyone cook the arugula? Absolutely kills the great fresh crispness of the veggie and gives way to the pesto to over power the taste. Then, tried "create your own." First the marinara is flat. They DO NOT put a reasonable amount of topping on the pizza. I asked for double the mushrooms, I believe there was at most two small flakes on each slice. Requested basil, same. Requested dried tomatoes, none. Overall experience was deplorable.
