Moving and lifting furniture and moving racks of clothing.. I have seen managers come and go over the years at this location.. They are lucky to have a long time employee named Joann who has been at this location for years. She appears to be the glue that keeps this store running smoothly! All of us neighbors love and respect her professional and friendly work ethics ..And we notice how the other employees love and respect her. I noticed 3 weeks ago on a Friday..a rude lady customer caused a disturbance on the store floor demanding to take other customers merchandise that was in their carts . ,saying that she wanted them etc.. She approached the employee David ,who was so calm and professional ,she was demanding to have access to other customers merch. I was impressed how much time he spent listening to her screaming demands.. I heard him explain to her that first come first serve etc.. Prior...I heard her screaming at that customer , then she approached me ..I had picked out a frame earlier which I had next to me.. She demanded that I give it to her.. Out of courtesy, I was putting frames back on the wall that were left on the floor by other Customers .. This employee David has patience of a saint and should be commended dealing with these type of Karens ..LOL

Yelp isn't your personal grievance diary and taking a public swing at a longtime employee says more about you than it does about her. If you genuinely felt wronged, the adult move is to address it with management directly. As a person of color myself, tossing around accusations like racism in a review without substance isn't advocacy--what it is, is lazy, flippant and overreach. As for the store itself: Salvation Army Thrift Store continues to do what it's always done--support people who actually need it. Yes, prices may be up slightly (I only thrift clothes and shoes so increase is between $1-$5 across the levels), but they're still well below most local thrift competitors, and the mission behind the register matters. As a side note, the new rewards program is a great new added incentive! The Valencia team shows up, works hard, and treats people with respect. If that's not enough, no one's forcing you to shop here--feel free to take your expectations (and attitude) elsewhere.

They recently started a rewards program with your phone number and I signed up, but the guy didn't ask for it next time I was there (I just bought a picture frame) and when I asked about it before paying, told me it was too late. Lame. Donating: They have great hours and it's easy to pull in and donate. When I went yesterday though, they wouldn't take a (fairly large) ottoman I had to donate, saying they didn't have room. They do sell furniture but I guess had an over abundance and recommended I take it to the SF location instead. No bad smells and it's clean, so that's nice! And well lit. I am sure I will keep going since it's near my pharmacy but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Mystery staircase, walkway, boarded up windows- hark, a faded logo on a locked door. I almost left, but then noticed a black garbage can with a clipboard on top. Leave your email & they'll send you a receipt. Sigh. I wanted to know if they also take shampoo, took a chance & left it along with a warm down jacket. Like I said, the jacket has a small hole, & nobody I spoke to wanted it, so it was either find a cold street person or hope the jacket will go to a good home. So, I give these angels 4 stars for the good work they do- assuming it's everything listed on their website. Minus 1 star for zero visibility from the street level. A sign or two would certainly bring them much more donations.

I have been here twice the past few months and it was a disaster. This place needs to be cleaned up simply to have walking room around the spot. The items itself for sale, some stuff is broken and still being sold. I saw a picture frame on sale for $17.99 yet the frame itself was broken around the edges. That is absurd. Items need to be inspected and not priced like that. Organize this place ASAP. Onto the cashier at the front, any time I have come its as if this cashier does not know how to do her job. Friendly lady, but customer service is not up to par. I have noticed several people leave out of the line cause staff is taking too long. Not sure if more training is needed for staff? It has some potential, but whoever is the owner/manager for this location, rehab this place from top to bottom.
