Dr. Thomas Lee works with his senior students to administer acupuncture to patients for a reduced fee. If you don't mind that, I recommend it. Be sure to ask or send them questions after the appointment because they ask many intake questions but their post session communication could be better. I really like my chiropractic services from here. The student clinician and doctor I see are very caring, knowledgeable, and likable people. They are thorough and aim to get to the root of the problem. I never get a generic adjustment. It is very specific to my complaints. And this place is very affordable. The only downside is you need to block off a lot of time for your appointment since it is a learning site. This sometimes keeps me from booking an appointment if my own schedule doesn't allow it. read more

I've had the worst experience with this office. This office was listed an provider through my insurance. I attempted to schedule an appointment and three days later they still could not figure out how to verify my eligibility. In fact, i was the one HAD to proactively call to follow up on status. I even had Cigna, my main provider, call the office to verify my eligibility, however, the office never answered. Needless to say, I found another Chiropractor whose staff was able to assist immediately. read more

Whittier hides many secrets but sometimes you can find them and when this happens you of course want to tell the whole world about it! I have never heard of this school before but come to find out that they do acupuncture and chiropractic treatments. They treat you really well and also very respectable. I have since enjoyed my treatments and loved how clean and very sanitized this place is. I am strange about that but I can say this place passes the bar. Parking is easy to find you just park in the patient section and walk right in. Either make an appointment or go to the front desk and ask if they have any available. I have done both treatments with acupuncture and chiropractic. Acupuncture is very old and many people know is as Chinese traditional medicine with lots of needles. Don't be alarmed the needles aren't large and they won't puncture your skin and leave a scar. After getting a few acupuncture treatments you will feel great and you might want to keep coming ! Chiropractic is more than just cracking backs they heal your body as well and also help many patients that are from car accidents, back problems and sport injuries. A little advice is that you have to be comfortable and relaxed in any of these situations for treatments to go well and sometimes it is hard because you get a little bit nervous. Kudos to the entire staff at SCU clinic. The Ayurveda staff helped me greatly with their truly Integrative approach and advise. The integrative Holistic approach to healthcare really worked wonders for me. I found it very effective for when my system flare ups and falls outta whack. I also found the Acupuncture to be very effective as well. Dr Jenny and Dr Chau both treated me and I saw results almost right away. They also are skilled in poking you in a way you barely feel the needles which I think is cool. Theres certainly no one-size fits all in healthcare so another persons experience may be different than mine. and everyone will have their own opinions and preferences in modalities. And of course success depends on the patient following instructions well. i made sure to follow the docors instructions and advise well. Susan, Sherry Yani Deviani Venus Nicole and Dr Boaz all worked on me with Ayurveda. They gave me an AMAZINGLY helpful diet plan along with nutritional guidance that I believe helped me tremendously. I am grateful that these practitioners all took the effort to customize a plan and treatment for me based on my body's dosha type which i had no clue about. didnt even know there was something called dosha or what it did. I am truly astonished at the results of following the their advise. Their advise and treatment it turns out worked extremely well with my body type. the epiphany for me is that we cant just eat whatever we feel like whenever we feel like just because it happens to be on a menu and others are eating it. Reality is the energy from a particular food may not be ideal for everyone body or digestive system. Again everyone knows there is never a one size fit all anything so why do we make the mistake of trying to do it with foods, the fuel that fuels our engines? What opinion would you have of a person who fills their car with premium fuel and immediately top it off the system with more ice cold fuel? Among other things, the Ayurveda doctors at SCU clinic taught me how not to make that mistake. now my health is much better. Came here bc they were on my list of doctors on my PPO plan. I pulled a muscle in my upper back while helping a friend move which created pinched nerve and caused pain in my left arm and neck. I tolerated the pain for over a week and decided to get help. My first visit was detailed and included x rays, body exam, neck and back adjustment. I felt an improvement immediately and my second visit included ultrasound, scraping, neck and back adjustment. I'm feeling much better after two treatments and will continue treatments for the next several weeks. In addition to chiropractic services, acupuncture treatment is offered also. BTW If you don't have insurance they accept payment at discounted prices. I'm so glad I discovered this place. read more

Southern California University of Health Sciences is a sham and the employees there are bullies! Don't waste your time, and more importantly your money applying or attending. I applied to both their DC and PA programs and was first accepted into their DC program. After my acceptance, I kept receiving admissions emails regarding my "admission to their PA program." When I called the school to report the irregularity, I was told by Ms Elizabeth Cruz the email had been sent in error. Strangely, Ms Elizabeth Cruz also told me at that time that applicants were expected to be "professional throughout the application process." - Apparently Ms Elizabeth Cruz says this to "everyone" (despite never saying this to me at any time during our previous phone calls before that). It wasn't after I called to follow up on my PA application (months later) that I was told (more so screamed at) by Mr David Coronado, who told me I would not be accepted into their PA program and that my DC acceptance had been rescinded because I had "altered" their admission emails... When I tried to ask where this accusation was coming from, Mr David Coronado refused to let me speak and threatened to report me to CASPA. When I tried to justify the validity of the emails I had received, Mr Coronado raised his voice at me and told me that my opinion did not matter. Well after months of being told I'd get a call back from the dean of the DC and PA program (which never occurred), I was able to settle the situation with the school and obtain an apology. The school did in fact report me to CASPA and I was also able to obtain a retraction for their libelous claim. At this point I have no desire to attend this school and was glad to see the reality about SCUHS before becoming part of the student body. Ultimately SCUHS and its staff lack the professionalism required to operate a health sciences school and SCUHS' action only discredits the legitimacy of the school. While SCUHS is tasked with training our future healthcare providers, the school doesn't seem to know what it is doing at the administrative level... read more

You know that scene from the 40 Year Old Virgin where Steve Carrell is terrified getting his chest hair waxed for the first time, and after the first rip he screams in agony "KELLY CLARKSON!"? Same situation, except today I'm turned on my belly and my face is smushed against the padding of a U-shaped cushion. My eyes are facing the floor, an experience that vaguely reminds me of looking into a toilet bowl when I had one too many to drink during my college years. As I laid there shirtless, my spinal cord was at the complete mercy of the chiropractor who stood above me. "Relax. I'm going to make a few adjustments." Your spinal cord really isn't that impressive once vertebrae are removed from the equation. Just a sinewy string of nerve fibers, roughly about the thickness of an extension cord that you would plug into your wall outlet at home. So thin and fragile...but what if it snapped? Rather, what if MINE snapped? Being in a wheelchair wouldn't be so bad, I imagine, I could get one of those automated ones with the joystick and...oh crap, why is he touching my neck? "I want you to take a deep breath for this next part." Oh god oh god oh god, I mean peeing out of a bag for the rest of your life can't be that bad, right? I mean, sure, it'd take some time getting used to sticking a foley up my... "...and exhale." He jerks my neck and...CRACK. I wait for the pain, the numbness, the inevitable convulsive seizure in which afterwards I swallow my tongue, but my Kelly Clarkson moment never comes. Instead...I feel pretty good coming out of it. We go through 3 more adjustments and by the end of it, my back feels straighter. Which is weird, because originally going into it my back seemed perfectly aligned with no complaints on my end. After the session, he walks me outside and shows me a model of the spine. He points out the contorted areas along my vertebrae and how he adjusted it. I'm shocked. Despite memorizing the names of various pain killers for back pain after 3 years of med school, I feel somewhat close-minded as he goes into detail about the architecture of my spine, how with time it will inevitably become misaligned, and how to straighten it out by doing some passive stretches at home. Neat. A different perspective to a common problem. Overall a great experience. I'm young and don't have back problems (yet), but I went on a Saturday morning and was seen by a student, partly to see what it was all about but also partly to see if he knew his stuff. Don't worry, you'll be supervised by a chiropractor during the spinal adjustments. The tradeoff is that you pay less ($25 for 1 hour session). Finally a shoutout to Andrew C., the student who took care of my back. Throughout the encounter he was thoughtful, personable, compassionate, and overall just gave a damn about what I had to say. Going to a chiropractor is generally expensive, especially because a lot of them just want to get you in, do a couple of quick adjustments and get you out the door and on to the next one. Not the case here. Since you're seen by students, they really take their time and try to get the most out of your pain, by learning from it and trying to help you as many ways as they can, under the guidance of one of the doctors on staff, I recommend Dr. Glenn. He's who I make my appointments under, and seriously he's great. Any time I have some serious pain, I make my way here, it's a bit of a trek from my house, but totally worth it because it's much less than a regular chiropractor and you get so much more in the treatment. They also have cold laser and all kinds of fun stuff here. If you're in pain and don't want to break the bank on some chiropractic treatment, def check this place out. read more

My boyfriend, per his Acupuncturist, was told that he can make an appointment at this clinic to address his back and neck issues. Although I was misinformed, we showed up without an appointment, as a new patient, and the folks were flexible enough to squeeze us in. Although this clinic is run by both doctors and students, there is the chance that you will be told conflicting things (just be prepared to ask the doctor for the final say). When my boyfriend got realigned, the sound his back and neck made just creeped me out. However, he felt loads better so I am guessing the student did a really good job. He has gone back a couple times, but, not recently, due to location and time issues, but he does feel a little better and I have to nag him to get back with it. read more

I just love this place! Naomi Boas is a great Ayurveda practitioner. I was evaluated and carful thought went into the proper treatment. Every time I come in the staff is cheerful and engaged. You can tell this is a good learning environment. I have to give a shout out to Grace, Sue and Ann who make me feel like a million bucks each week. It is great to have such attention to detail, taking the time and care in todays busy, rush, rush environments. Thank you again to the staff and looking forward to our next visit. Definitely try to see dr. Hwang for acupuncture! Don't waste your time with chiro unless you are under 12yrs old and it's free. Even then I would still consider whether I'd want to go..... Don't go to acu school here, unless you like being treated like you're a child, you have money to burn on ridiculous fees, extra time to complete ridiculous amounts of paperwork and you want to waste your time attending classes. There are some experienced faculty here, but you need to find them and then you have to hope they are good teachers. read more

Blown away by the professionalism of the students and Dr Neally. Their ability and patience in working with my toddler has been amazing. They have brought a lot of comfort and knowledge in dealing with some unknown medical issues with my toddler and I am beyond thankful. It is reassuring to be helped by people that actually care about health and getting to the cause and treating with supplements/probiotics and chiropractic care rather than masking the symptoms with pharmaceuticals. Like a teaching hospital, they have a clinic, where an intern takes care of you thoroughly while being supervised by a professor. If you have Kaiser or other insurance, they will likely provide you with a referral to an outside Accupunture provider, and this university will likely take that insurance. That is helpful for treatment costs. You'll be grateful that they take good care of you and ask very detailed questions about your life and case history, including your physical and emotional health. They have practitioners available for Accupuncture, Chiropractic, Massage, Ayurveda and Tradition Chinese for your treatment. The only thing they could improve is the pricing of the herbal medicines, which seems higher than Chinatown :) read more

VERY AFFORDABLE. Clean, easy to find. Great parking. I've been visiting SCU since September 2012, as a complimentary treatment for breast cancer. It supported me in so many ways but primarily I got relief from anxiety, nausea/appetite after chemo treatments, hot flashes/night sweats. I've also boosted my immune system (or kept it bolstered) through surgery & radiation with regular weekly treatments plus Chinese herbs. I'm now being treated for itching & fatigue from radiation. Today suppose to be 20 minute needles and they forgot me for almost 50 minutes. I tried to call them and they were too busy talking and laughing. I could not be more pleased with the teachers' dedication and preparation, the administration's responsiveness! I took my ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY courses in Hayward Campus with Bachir. It was an accelerated science course. He is an awesome professor who made it a great experience for me. The class is very intensive with a wide coverage in both subjects, but Bachir makes it so fun and simple as you are learning a lot of materials but you do not realize sitting in the class for long hours. This is a great place for everyone who wants to take prerequisite classes in weekends for med school, Nursing or Physician Assistants programs and works full time during week. We had very exciting and informative lab projects plus experiencing the Anatomy dissections on some animals as well. I am planning to take BIOLOGY and BIOCHEMISTRY classes over here too. I highly recommend this place for students are in bay area and looking for accelerated prerequisite classes with Lab for credits to transfer.You are saving your time :)) read more
