When I lived in Savannah I got all my fresh seafood here. Prices are fair and it was really convenient coming from the beach back home.

I'm not sure why this doesn't have a higher rating from others. We thought the service was excellent. The person who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable. We bought fresh caught shrimp and the price was more than fair. Of course, I'm a tourist. I acknowledge that I don't know much about it. But I do know that they need to make a living. read more

I was there towards the end of June from WI bought 5 lbs head on the best day be ever had. came to WI shared the rest with a few local Reastaurant owner friends who enjoyed the heck out of them and really wished they could get shrimp that fresh from there suppliers so i surprised them went back 2 weeks later and bought 30 lbs and returned to WI. Scuba Steve is a terrible business owner. He's extremely sarcastic and rude. I called and asked if he had fresh shrimp. I have purchased previously frozen fish & shrimp from him. After he was rude & sarcastic to me I hung up on him. He called me back 3 times and left a message on the 3rd time. He said "what are you, 3 years old" idk why he felt like he needed to do that. I bought 3lbs of head on shrimp for $5/lb, which is a great price. The shrimp just came off the boat and is by far the freshest I've ever had. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only request would be that they update their hours listed on Yelp, as they are closed on Mondays and having an updated listing would have saved me the trip yesterday. read more

We went to scuba Steve's for "fresh" seafood, well, it was anything but fresh. The shrimp were mushy, the snapper we bought was prepackaged and brought in from another part of the country. Please believe me when I tell you this, beware tourists, this is a trap for you and I guarantee, they never see the same customer twice! read more

When I go to the beach, I always hope to find some good local seafood and this place is a very solid bet if you're staying in the area. The fare pleased my wife, who grew up on Florida's Gulf Coast as the daughter and granddaughter of some serious recreational fishermen, and a family that definitely knows its shellfish. She said the scallops and jumbo shrimp we got here were the best she's had in a long time and reminded her of what her family gets fresh in Florida. (We are now landlocked and living in North Carolina.) I came twice, both times for for 2 LBS of shrimp. The second time, on a lark, I got a half-dozen scallops. After the first visit, my wife made some Shrimp Scampi that was among the best plates of pasta I've ever had. On round 2 I cooked half as bacon wrapped, and the other half with a simple marinade of lime juice and spices. All three preparations yielded a delicious flavor and texture from the shrimp. And the scallops were the most pleasant surprise of all-- they tasted great sautéed with just butter, salt and pepper. It's true, as another Yelper noted, that there were only a handful of offerings when I went in early June, but I'd rather go to a shop that did a small selection of seafood really well. These days you can get 10 types of seafood at a Whole Foods 3 hours from the beach, but it's all flown in. When a local fishmonger has a more focused selection, you can feel more confident it's fresh and local. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place ! read more

The selection was very limited. It was either shrimp or two or three varieties of fish when I was in the shop. The shrimp was fresh but pricey for the area since there are shrimping boats nearby. If you drive a little further off the main drag there are other fishmongers. However, it is a clean shop and convenient. read more

Not sure if we just caught this place on a bad day or what, but when I see "seafood store" I expect to see a large variety of seafood for sale. They had 1 type of shrimp at $15/lb, a couple pieces of salmon, 2 pieces of MAHI and some scallops, we have a better selection at our grocery stores at home. Disappointed to say the least. read more

I shop here often and have meant to do a review,but... first, I love the name and the location is super convenient. Very tight parking situation and extremely clean. The lady that works the counter is very pleasant. Regrettably the shrimp are hit and miss. I've been thrilled with them and have also returned them because they were foul and not fresh. Today, having company and not able to get to my preferred, go to, fresh shrimp place I decided to try scuba Steve's again. I called about 5 to see how late they were going to be open, since it was the holiday weekend and also planned on picking up some GA peaches out front. Well, he lost my business when he was rude on the phone, that took perhaps 1 minute. I inquired about his closing time and then, assuming it was his peach stand that was on his property, asked if they were also still open. He barked at me about not having anything to do with the peaches and he "had a long line of customers" and hung up. Glad he had the long line because by being rude on the phone just caused him my business. He needs to learn customer service and multitasking or maybe hiring someone to help or not "rent" his storefront to another vendor. I'll gladly drive to Thunderbolt for a better quality , always consistent and better priced shrimp shop where I'm not yelled at for 1 minute of his time. read more

We are visitors to the neighboring Tybee Island. We passed this seafood market and thought we would stop in and support the local fisherman. What a grade A jerk he was. We are in camper and our fridge space is limited, so we "only" ordered a half pound of shrimp. The guy, who I assume was Steve (he had no name tag), sarcastically complained about how this was the smallest order of the day. He mentions this about 3 times in the span of 30 seconds. I proceeded to ask if he could add 4 pieces to the order and he again reiterates "That's all you are going to buy?" The total on his notepad came to $11.25, but he asked us to pay $12. I suppose he had to bilk is us for 75 cents since we were such a small order. Shop at another local seafood market. Don't support this man's business. read more

Was looking for a late lunch after time at the beach. Several places we tried were closed. We happened upon this place and were happy the others were closed. The crab legs, fried oysters and hush puppies were the best we've had during our vacation. Nothing fancy here but the food is delicious read more

swung by on a Tuesday to pick up shrimp. I like to look at the shrimp intact to get an idea of their freshness. Their head on shrimp was a great price at $5.99 but was definitely not "fresh" given the fact that the heads were beginning to blacken and in some cases down to the bodies. we've gotten shrimp here before and they're pretty much on par with any place in savannah... but we got some grouper today and were very disappointed. i should've known better when i saw it came in vacuum packets, but i was assured that it was 'local fish' that had been "flash frozen"... probably not, because it smelled and tasted way too fishy, always a sign of not-so-fresh fish. We'll be looking elsewhere for freah seafood from now on. read more
