I gave birth at SCV birth center in November 2025, and it was the most perfect, incredible experience of my life. I came across this birth center very unexpectedly, and I truly believe God wanted me to be in the care of Jordan and Stephanie. During my first pregnancy, we took a class at Pure Birth near the end of my pregnancy and loved everything we learned--especially the importance of avoiding an epidural for both the mother and the baby. However, at the time, I didn't feel ready to have an unmedicated birth, so we chose a hospital birth for our first daughter. When I found out I was pregnant with our second, I knew deep down that I wanted the least amount of intervention possible--for both myself and my baby. I called what I thought was Pure Birth, and to my surprise, it was SCV birth center. Trusting that God always knows best, I followed that path, and I can honestly say He did not disappoint like always The center itself is smaller, which immediately made me feel safe, confident, and truly at home. Stephanie and Jordan are incredibly kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They take the time to truly listen, to reassure you whenever needed, and to explain everything with such clarity and care. My daughter is now 6 months and I credit Renee, Andrea & our bonus midwife... for making my experience seamless and beautiful. I have soooooo much to say! For starters, you have a concierge health experience. Every appointment was met with intention yet an openness to answer any thing your heart desires. When you find women in birth work that are aligned with their life purpose you find an amazing environment. Renee and Andrea take the time to educate you! They allow you to make informed decisions without judgement or coercion. They even helped me find a birthing class and helped us find a fitting pediatrician. Where to start? Their front desk person, Angie, fed me some rubbish about their exclusiveness when she booked my consult. Then, my husband couldn't make my consult, but they present the image that they care about humans, interrupt what you're saying a lot, then when you ask for clarification on the finances, they send a template email, wouldn't allow me to follow up with him before we sign off on spending $8k+. They're hungry for money, full of crap, presenting a faux image, running a business essentially, and if these are their ethics at this stage, what are their ethics at the point when a mother is birthing a human? Don't bother :) Edit to add: I was genuinely keen to hire them and employ their services... Until they ghosted me after a question, canceled my appointment without a word, and clearly presented themselves as fundamentally unreliable and unethical. read more

The facility is beautiful and provided exactly the peaceful, quiet environment I needed to help me calm my fears and bring my baby into the world. Renee is absolutely wonderful and I couldn't have asked for a more supportive person to be there for me throughout my pregnancy and labor. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and easy to talk to. They're a wealth of knowledge and resources. The vast experience of years and years of doing this is complemented by the large number of connections they have for any additional needs beyond their expertises. They are well rounded in their practice and they truly care for moms and their babies. They are great facilitators and advocates for natural birthing, empowering women of all backgrounds, races and cultures. They've lived and seen many things, and as a result it feels that they can tell so much about you and see right through you. They're frank with their advice. Out of hospital birthing isn't something everyone wants or can do, but the best way to make this work is to be honest with them when they ask questions and be receptive when they speak. That's a rule for any provider really, it's the only way they can truly care for you and they will do it very well. Renee and her team are just a wonderful blessing to every family they've assisted welcoming their little ones into this world; us included. Her experience and dedicated care, nurtured all of my three births from beginning to end. We always felt in good hands, where the wisdom of experience and the love for natural birthing collided to make the most wonderful of a woman's life's event be even more special. Not only do they educate mom, but dad as well, assisting him to be the best support he can be for his wife. Everyone loves the "at home" birth experience, but I just never wanted to deal with the cleaning aftermath, even if I wasn't doing it -for obvious reason- my mind would simply go there and I didn't want to, so I opted for going to their facilities and I felt beyond comfortable; so did my husband. I went through back labor with my first baby and she took her time to get in position but while we were waiting for her arrival I always felt in good caring hands. The other two births were easier as far as length of time but not less special. Two of my 3 children were born under water and honestly, it was so comfortable and natural! Being over 35 with my last, the so-calledchallenges of age and such aren't things that even face them as a problem. They cared for me, even in the midst of my anxious thoughts and emotions. In the past I have had many medical problems that have landed me in the hospital. When I got pregnant the last place I wanted to deliver was in a bright room with strangers. I brought my whole family to our consultation and by the time we left my mother and mother in law were both feeling comfortable about me delivering at the birth center. Her birth center is a beautiful, tranquil space, and nationally accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC), but when I had my third baby, I knew I wanted to have a home birth. Awful! What a waste of $200. You don't really get to learn anything (new) that you have not already read from a book or the internet. This Allison Bravo (yep, that's her name) has the worst attitude and customer service skills ever. She is not friendly at all, it's hard to like her from the very beginning. She doesn't interact with the clients and is very dry. The worst thing is her lack of professionalism when it comes to responding to emails and/or text messages. I will be posting pictures of unanswered emails and text messages soon. This business heavily advertises and includes this text in their confirmation email: "All of my couples receive 24 hour access to me through email/phone/text, including your labor." The other couples who were in the same class with us were as frustrated as we are. There was even one couple who is about to give birth very soon but did nor hear back from Allison on time. I have text messages to prove this too. Good luck in getting this Allison chick to respond to you. I'm sure that those with great experiences who wrote these outstanding reviews did not have Allison as their instructor. So just make sure that if you are signing up that you don't get this person as you'll definitely regret it. read more

I can't say enough about the SCV, birth center!!!! My husband and I love them and what they do so much. Their whole team is remarkable, but Renee, the owner, and head Midwife, and Angie are absolutely extraordinary. As a first time mother in 2020 I was a bit nervous and slightly overwhelmed when it came to birth. I wanted to make wise choices for my recovery during and afterwards but then also for my baby to be safe. Renee is so knowledgeable And is incredibly gifted. To have her help not only with my daughter in 2020 (and also navigating breastfeeding) and then with my second in 2022 was such a gift. She gives you such peace and fills you with hard facts that reassure you about giving birth at home or at a birth center or whatever place is best for you and baby. Her love for families and children is so evident and gives you such peace when you have the incredible gift and responsibility of bringing life into this world. The care that you receive there is so different than at the hospital, I did go to the hospital for care halfway in my pregnancy with my first, and then the rest at the birth center. The difference was obvious. It was just so much more relational at the birth center And I felt really cared for rather than just checked off the list. From every single one of my prenatal visits to the birth center birth of my first and the at home water birth of my second, this team wasn't just there to catch my babies. They were family. SCV Birth Center is by far, the absolute best place to carry out your pregnancy journey and deliver your baby. When I first told my partner I wanted to deliver out of a hospital and in a birth center or at home, he thought I was crazy. So did many family members and friends. No drugs? To this day people still question why I'd choose to do it that way, but with lots of education, I wouldn't do it any other way. I was a student nurse throughout my entire pregnancy, graduated with my RN right before my baby came, and after all my time spent in the hospital providing care, I knew I did not want to deliver my child in a hospital unless necessary. The hospital experience can be so rushed, hectic, and stressful. With SCV Birth center, it was the complete opposite. It's very common to think of a hospital as the absolute best place to deliver a baby, and in some cases, it most certainly is. But with a great deal of education, encouragement, and support, my partner and I both felt that we made the best choice for our family. Every visit was an hour long and so much time was spent truly building a relationship with all of the midwives at the birth center. They watched carefully for any signs of complications or risks that would require a hospital delivery. Renee, Andrea, and Maggie were all truly amazing and when it was time for our son to come, I truly felt we were in the absolute best place to bring him into this world. The environment was calm and loving, full of laughter and endorphins. The rooms for delivery are clean with dim lighting. It almost feels like your at a hotel or spa. I am on my 4th baby and this is my first experience with a midwife vs. an OBGYN. I came here as a one time visit, with my Daughter and her boyfriend. As an older Father myself I must admit I had my reservations and preconceived notions. My review is solely based on my one visit and feedback / observations / discussions with my Daughter and her boyfriend. I come from the world, a more conservative time and era, where you prepped insurance and all logistics with a hospital for the big day. It was very nerve racking to wrap my head around a birthing center and the involved home-birth process that my Daughter had chosen. First let me start, that the Santa Clarita Birth Center itself from the inside does not match the outside and location. The inside is very elegantly and nicely decorated. Everything had a zen feeling. The staff member / mid-wife which spoke with my Daughter at her appointment appeared very nice, polite, encouraging, and informative. Time has passed, and my Daughter now has a wonderful Baby Boy and I am now a GrandFather. It was a learning experience for my Daughter, her Boyfriend, and the older family that cares for these two new parents. I do have some recommendations, from a one time new Grandparent point of view: 1) Maybe have an information packet available for older Grandparents, to help answer their questions, which may not be discussed at a one time appointment. 2) The center may already do this, but I honestly don't know, be sure to review and go over all insurance entitlements both public, private, and state funded options with all new parents. 3) The center may already do this, but I honestly don't know, maybe offer candid or private pictures. To note, the follow up does appear to be excellent as I have received feedback from my Daughter. Years ago we found this birth center in Santa Clarita. Renee and the team are incredible. She has both the experience and the medical knowledge to understand the widest array or circumstances and the most unique personal needs for first time moms and for moms who want to have the most fulfilling and healthiest birth experience. Why is TEN stars not an option? When I first found Renee and the SCVBC, there were barely five reviews on Yelp and birth centers and midwives were a challenging find in Southern California. After our first introductory/"interview the midwife" appointment, I was sold. Renee's knowledge base, her experience, and her confidence in her craft put me at such ease about the care I would be receiving through my prenatal and postpartum time with her. My first pregnancy was a beautiful experience and each prenatal visit was at least an hour where my and my husband's questions and concerns were heard and addressed thoroughly and with confidence. My labor was quick and mostly at home and my delivery was all too fast, barely having made it through the doors of the birth center before baby appeared. Renee and Kat took the greatest care to ensure bonding time for me and baby in the warmed tub, waiting to do the newborn exam until we were bundled and cozy together back in bed. My husband was close by and invited to be as much or as little of a part of everything as he was comfortable with. The postpartum care was just as attentive, with a home visit and follow-up appointments through six weeks to address concerns and problems. Fast forward a year and I was thrilled to have Renee as a midwife for my second pregnancy. The prenatal care, the staff, and the facilities had continued to grow and even improve! I didn't think that was possible! It was clear that Renee and her fellow midwives were continuing to expand their knowledge and working towards constantly improving the birth center experience and information available surrounding midwifery care and natural childbirth. Another nine months of building upon our beautiful relationship with Renee and her staff and a home birth that couldn't have been more perfect. Renee, Kat, and Sarah each played a very special part ensuring the most respectful care and honoring of bonding time immediately after delivery. And here we are again. Baby number 3. Perhaps I just missed Renee and her team and needed an excuse to be in their company. Kat and Sarah have since moved on to their own practices (they are each AMAZING!!). And Renee has clearly risen to be a beacon of midwifery knowledge and experience. She is an amazing authority on the practice of natural care and birth and confidently shares her research, experiences, and knowledge with her mothers, fellow birth care workers, and most importantly - the medical community. She is incredibly professional and knowledgable and I am beyond thrilled to put my trust in her one more time for our last baby. Renee has created a beautiful and inviting space for prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum care. There are opportunities, events, and activities to meet like-minded moms and learn about "crunchy" issues in an open and non-hostile environment. I built my mommy village solely from my connections made through the birth center - friends, preschool information, medical care information... and on and on. The experience at SCVBC expands so far beyond the nine months and six weeks spent preparing for a new baby. Delivering with the SCV Birth Center will certainly add to your family - not just a new baby, but an Auntie Renee and Auntie Angie and of course our beloved Aunties Kat and Sarah and all the other "Aunties" that have a hand in caring for us along the way. read more

So, I was about to become a first time dad and I had no experience or knowledge about the birthing process. All I knew was if your wife gets pregnant then we'll attend the Dr appointments, have the baby in the hospital and everything will be taken care of. But when my wife suggested a home birth, I kinda freaked out. I had never contemplated a home birth before and I didn't even know of anyone personally that has had a home birth, so you can imagine how even less prepared I felt. We attended our regular HMO doctor visit and our experience was horrendous. We waited an hour to see the Dr for only 5 min. We had a thousand questions but apparently she had a thousand patients to meet with that day so she couldn't attend to us. I was shocked, but reassured my wife the next visit would be better..but it wasn't. Suddenly a different option didn't seem like such a bad idea. My wife eventually called a birth center (not SCV) at 20 weeks. They jotted her name and said someone would call back in 24-48 hours. After a week with no call back, my wife asked that I call. It was a strange conversation. They didn't have any of my wife's information on file even though she submitted a form online. It sounded like the woman was walking down a busy street and was in a hurry. I had questions but she seemed to rush me off the phone, I felt like I was bothering her but it was barely 5pm. She took down my name and said they'd call back..long story short, they didn't call back. We're first time parents and we wanted a better experience than this but weren't having any luck, we kept attending our regular Dr visits but we always left so frustrated and disheartened. We thought maybe this is just the way it is. About a month later my wife searched on Yelp and found these great reviews about SCV Birth Center and immediately called. Her face lit up as she described the kindness they displayed to her over the phone and how they answered all her questions about the first appointment. It brings me such joy to see my wife so happy. I was amazed at our first appointment, we met Renee who described to us the process of a home birth. Can you believe it, every appointment we had lasted 1 hour..that was incredible! After every appointment we felt more and more confident, enlightened and encouraged. They even have a labor room and my goodness it's so wonderful. They have a huge tub, a very comfy bed, a full bathroom with a shower and sink..it reminded me of an upscale hotel room..so serene and comfortable..and the dim lighting, oh I almost forgot, it was so relaxing. During the labor three midwives were always by our side, guiding us and attending our every need. They literally hand held us during this entire process. Look, I can go on and on about this place..ultimately you'll make your own decision..but for a first time dad that never had a clue about home births, all I can say is I'm definitely coming back here for our second. This is the whole person/whole family care that is offered at the SCV Birth Center that starts in prenatal care, continues with postpartum support, and everything in between. From the basics to the unique scenarios, the midwives at the birth center make sure that you are heard and taken care of. My wife and I had done a lot of self-study before looking for our care team and we felt the most comfortable with the team here. This was our first born and our dream was to have a home birth in the birthing pool. To be completely honest, I was nervous at first about home birth, even with the prep we had done. No matter what random question I might have had or the current stresses in our lives, Renee and the other midwives were always attentive and encouraging as we made our dreams into reality. They follow your lead on your decisions and offer their input based on their experiences and the network of knowledge with others in the midwife community. They listen to you and everything you share with them so when the big day comes, it is like having very trained and skilled family members present. Even after birth, the postpartum and lactation care you receive is so much more than traditional hospital delivery. At one point, the midwives could tell we had not slept after the birth of our daughter and were dealing with a lot emotionally and physically so they offered to watch her and allowed us to nap in one of the birth rooms (which are cozy and comfortable). They knew what we needed at that moment and we trusted them with our newborn because that is just the level of care and support you get from the SCV Birth Center. You are not just a patient or an appointment here, you are treated like family. I can't encourage enough expecting families to look into the SCV Birth center if they are looking for an amazing natural birthing experience and the knowledge/support the Birth Center provides for Santa Clarita Gentlemen, listen to your wife if she is talking about natural birth or a home birth if you have never considered it before! And then make sure you have a great midwife team like the team here and I promise, you will thank me later. Also, Angie is more than just the front office person, she is another valuable member of the team here! I don't think I ever had to chance to meet Angie during prenatal visits in the center but on the day of our daughter's birth, she had actually dropped off some extra materials as we were waiting for the second midwife and was present for the birth of our daughter and was an extra set of hands to help Renee if need be. There is no one I would trust to help me through the most important moment of my life...giving birth to my child...than Renee. Sorry babe...I promise our wedding day was amazing too. Renee helped me deliver both of my children and if I can talk my husband off the "2 child bandwagon" (wish me luck) she will deliver the third! After watching "The Business of Being Born" and deciding against the hospital birth I always dreamed, I mean thought was my only option, I would have...my husband I immediately began interviewing with midwives. We had some meetings but after sitting with Renee for an hour...yes she gives you an hour just to talk to you even though you aren't her client yet...we walked away and immediately agreed she was the one. Why is she the one? I've said it before but she is like having your closest, most trusted friend by your side who just happens to know how to deliver a baby. She gives such wonderful attention to her clients, is warm and caring, incredibly knowledgable, has an absolutely beautiful facility to deliver in (you must see it!), is passionate about her work and is just one of those people you know has the heart for what she does. She gives you confidence in your ability to birth naturally and helps you through every step of the way making sure she is paying attention to what is best for you throughout your pregnancy and birth. Throughout every stage of the process she makes you feel empowered about your birth and ability to make good decisions for yourself and your child. Also - her assistants and staff are so incredibly sweet and wonderful to communicate with. So, now that you have read this...you have to birth Renee. Just kidding. When I first went in search for a midwife, my plan was to have our baby at home. I called and spoke with all of the popular Midwives in the LA area and was not sold on any of them. Each one had something about them I wasn't quite happy with. I had pretty much given up on the idea of a Home birth and went in search of the next best thing: a birthing center. When I first called the Santa Clarita Birth Center, I spoke with Angie who gave me such a great impression of their center that I booked my in-person interview with them right away (where with the others I had spoke with, I felt the need to do 2-3 calls with them before deciding to see them in person). I live in the Sunland/Tujunga area and had previously been looking for options in the Glendale/Burbank area but finding places in Silver Lake, Sherman Oaks, Mount Washington instead. I didn't think to check north of me in the Santa Clarita area initially but the SCV Birth Center turned out to be the closest option to me and with less traffic every time we drove there! When my husband & I went in for our in-person interview, we were impressed at every turn. We met with Renee & Rachel (both midwives) and they spent like an hour & a half with us answering all of our questions. We were sold right away! They were exactly who we wanted at our birth. Their experience, demeanor, confidence, control, & attitude were just what we were looking for, we knew we would feel comfortable and taken care of with them. And unlike other midwife duos, you get both of them at your birth and not just one, without knowing which one will be on-call when you go into labor, like other places. We were still planning on doing a home birth, which was one thing I loved about this place was that you could choose to do either, birth at home and they would come to you or have the baby at the birthing center, both options were open to you. But then we took a tour of the birth center and their birthing suites which had this lovely huge triangle built-in bathtub. And that bathtub changed our minds and I'm sooooo glad we did! We decided to do the birth at the birthing center and I did a water birth in that tub and couldn't imagine giving birth any other way than in the water! We are so glad we didn't do the birth at our apartment, it wouldn't have been as comfortable as in that glorious bathtub at the birthing center! This is my first baby, and he was born 2 weeks ago, on January 9th. Labor was 12 hours long. We labored at our apartment for the first 7-8 hours which was nice since it gave my husband & I time to labor by ourselves when the labor wasn't that hard and to have our privacy in our home. When the labor started getting harder and I was moving into Transition, we drove to the birth center around midnight. When we got there, Renee, Rachel, and Katie were there waiting for us. They filled that bathtub up with amazingly hot water and I immediately got right in and never got out until the baby was born 4 hours later. The water was so awesome and stayed hot for so long, and when it eventually cooled down, they drained it and refilled it with hotness again! Much better than those inflatable birthing tubs that you have to fill with buckets of water, this one is built-in, with a drain and facet for easy and instant refill. Having 2 midwives and an assistant there with you for the entire birth is something you don't get with any other place. All 3 of them were with us all night. After our baby was born at 4:40am, we stayed another 4 hours, while they helped me learn how to breastfeed, sutured me, did the baby exams, etc, etc. They really make sure everything is attended to and that you feel good before going home. And when we had an emergency when the baby came out, they were so calm and collected it helped my husband & I stay calm as they got to work and helped my baby breathe. When he came out, he had his umbilical cord wrapped around him twice and needed some additional help. I'm so glad they were there and knew exactly what to do. They gave him mouth to mouth and intubated him to clear out his airway. Even though how horribly scary it is to see your newborn needing this help, Renee was so on top of it, she exuded 110% confidence the entire time, we knew in her hands is exactly where we wanted our son to be in that moment. They had everything they needed right there waiting for them, and did it all with him on my chest. THEY WERE AMAZING!!!! We took our baby home that morning around 8:30am healthy, happy, and perfect thanks to these 3 birthing goddesses! Thank you so much Renee, Rachel, & Katie! We absolutely love the SCV birth center and everyone there!!! I can't put into words how grateful I am for Renee and Julia. The level of professional care, gentle concern, and genuine love is just unmatched. We had the best birth experience with these two incredible midwives, but even if the birth hadn't gone according to plan, I would still be able to write the same review. The level of care we received all nine months was more than I ever could have hoped for. The midwives help you feel confident as a mom - not scared as a patient. They teach and empower and encourage the whole way through. They truly have a gift and we are so thankful to have been able to experience such a sweet birth in their care. I can't say enough good things about Renee and the other midwives at SCV birth center. I've had all 3 of my girls at the birth center and I'm so happy I was able to have such an amazing experience. The birth center is so welcoming. Renee is awesome. She has so much knowledge and she's very easy to talk to and be comfortable with. She makes you feel at ease during what can become such a stressful time. Katie and Mikaela are awesome too! There is another midwife but unfortunately I never had the chance to meet her. I am a 4th time mom and delivered my last two babies with Renee at SCV birth center. There was a night and day difference between the care I received by the midwives at SCV birth center and OBGYN. Every appointment felt like I was going on a coffee date with friends instead of seeing a care provider. They took an interest in me as a person and not only assessed my physical health and monitored baby but also did a check in on my mental health and overall wellness. 2020 was a tough year to be pregnant but I felt so safe and supported by my care team despite all the unique challenges brought on by the pandemic.
