Holding my girl during our PP visit. Holding me emotionally too. We love you so much.

Had the honor and privilege of giving birth to both of my babies here. In the care of such incredible women. A privilege, to be handled with so much care, to be treated as a friend and not a client, to be encouraged to trust your body and all of its God given capabilities, to be championed, held and heard through the early days of postpartum, to be able to grab the phone and have your midwife - aka your lifeline - answer right away, to be hugged and greeted with warmth at each visit, to feel safe, a privilege. Being able to say I gave birth at SCV Birth Center twice, an honor.

A friend of mine raved about this birth center so when I was pregnant, I decided to check them out along with two other midwives I was interested in meeting. I didn't end up seeing the other 2 midwives because I fell in love with the midwives at SCV Birth Center. (Renee & Chava) This was my second home birth. I knew even more what I did and didn't want. They were SO accommodating to all my wishes and so incredibly respectful. I had a really smooth pregnancy and labor went REALLY well. I felt like I had such support as a woman to do what my body needed to do with the guidance of two incredibly experienced and professional midwives. I cannot thank them or recommend them enough. It was such a wonderful experience. I truly feel like I left this experience with 2 new friends.

I walked into child bearing very afraid. But then I met Renee and her team. My first pregnancy was during all of the craziness of 2020. After going to a few Kaiser appointments, Renee was beyond refreshing. We were able to TALK about all of the things. Our appointments weren't rushed. I felt thoroughly cared for. After birth Renee counseled me through many breastfeeding challenges as well. When my husband and I talked about having another baby, there was no doubt that we wanted Renee and SCV birth center to be fully involved this time around as well. Again, I felt supported during my pregnancy, delivery, and after baby was born. The Birth Center is clean and peaceful. The staff is absolutely amazing. I imagine that in the past birthing involved more community, and that's what my experiences at the the SCV Birth Center has been.

Renee and her team are the best. The level of care that you'll receive from them are unparalleled. We just had our second baby with Renee and just as the first, it was a wonderful experience. We drove from Agoura Hills but I'd drive from Texas if we had to , haha! They are responsible, give great advice, and support you in having your baby the way that you want to. You won't find this kind of care in a hospital.

Five stars all around! Renee and Andrea are incredibly amazing midwives. They are both extremely knowledgeable and made me feel really comfortable throughout my process. I felt encouraged and supported during my entire time with them. Choosing the birth center was the best decision and I highly recommend birthing here. They provided me above and beyond care during pregnancy and after as well which is unbeatable!!! This was my first pregnancy and they made me feel empowered, comfortable, and confident to know what's best for me and my baby! I would choose to birth here over and over again!!!!

Checking Zeppelins heart rate. We thought we were going home to labor some more, soon after this Renee checked me and I was dilated at 7cm!!

In the past I have had many medical problems that have landed me in the hospital. When I got pregnant the last place I wanted to deliver was in a bright room with strangers. I brought my whole family to our consultation and by the time we left my mother and mother in law were both feeling comfortable about me delivering at the birth center. (Even though it really wasn't their decision to make, it's nice to have family that support you) Their team is amazing. Every appointment felt like a family visit. Julia leads an amazing birthing class. When it was time for me to deliver we let my body to the work and pretty soon I had my baby boy. Truthfully a day I will cherish and remember forever. I'm very thankful to have had Renee, Andrea, Julia and Maggie along my pregnancy journey. I can't wait to get pregnant again because the next baby, we're having at home!

I can't say enough about the SCV, birth center!!!! My husband and I love them and what they do so much. Their whole team is remarkable, but Renee, the owner, and head Midwife, and Angie are absolutely extraordinary. As a first time mother in 2020 I was a bit nervous and slightly overwhelmed when it came to birth. I wanted to make wise choices for my recovery during and afterwards but then also for my baby to be safe. Renee is so knowledgeable And is incredibly gifted. To have her help not only with my daughter in 2020 (and also navigating breastfeeding) and then with my second in 2022 was such a gift. She gives you such peace and fills you with hard facts that reassure you about giving birth at home or at a birth center or whatever place is best for you and baby. Her love for families and children is so evident and gives you such peace when you have the incredible gift and responsibility of bringing life into this world. The care that you receive there is so different than at the hospital, I did go to the hospital for care halfway in my pregnancy with my first, and then the rest at the birth center. The difference was obvious. It was just so much more relational at the birth center And I felt really cared for rather than just checked off the list. Even when you give birth and after the six weeks postpartum checkup, they still let you know that you can ask them questions or just come in and say hi. Going through the SCV Birth center you don't just get to have amazing care during the delivery of your child, but you get long lasting relationships that are so beautiful and that bring so much joy to one's life, WE LOVE THE SCV BIRTH CENTER

I had both of my babies with Renee and her team and I couldn't ask for a more incredible birth experience. From every single one of my prenatal visits to the birth center birth of my first and the at home water birth of my second, this team wasn't just there to catch my babies. They were family. As a vegan, I was worried that I would be told I had to change my routine because I had never had babies before but! To my surprise, I was supported from start to finish, often being told that I was extremely healthy and doing everything right. What an absolute gift the Santa Clarita Birth Center was for me and my family. I am indebted to Renee forever for helping bring my babies into this world with love, compassion, care and insight that I know I would not have received elsewhere. You only get ONE chance to birth your baby. This is the place where and these are the people who you want to build that lifelong memory with. I did it twice and would do it again a thousand times over, every time! Thank you all so so much!!!!!

Midwife Tiffany educated us on the safety of the birth center, the benefits to mom & baby, the financial aspect, shared success stories, answered all of our questions & concerns, and finished with a complete tour of the birth center. We were both blown away by the education we received & decided we would like to try for a VBAC under their midwifery care. From October, when we took the class, to May, when our baby girl was born, we felt so seen and supported by the entire midwife team. Our girl was brought into the world by a redemptive VBAC experience & it was the best decision of our lives! Thank you to the entire Pure Births team for the constant clear communication. You all helped us achieve our what we sought to experience as a family and for that, we will forever be indebted to you! We are walking away so in awe of midwifery care, but more importantly, huge advocates for Pure Births & their lovely team.

I chose Pure Births Birthing Center because I deeply valued the philosophy of midwife-centered,…read moreholistic, and family-focused care. The environment and overall mission of the center truly resonated with me, and I appreciated the calm, natural approach they strive to provide. One of the most positive aspects of my experience was working with student midwife Alysia. I intentionally chose to have her present during my labor because she made me feel safe, supported, and emotionally grounded. Her presence was comforting, encouraging, and compassionate throughout a very vulnerable time, and I am genuinely grateful for the care she provided. I also loved the courses being offered for birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum. Everyone i've met was so sweet and kindhearted. I labored at home for most of the early process and arrived at the birth center around 4:35 AM at 6 cm dilated, ready to continue laboring. Nurse midwife Angela was the on-call midwife overseeing Alysia. Early on, Angela mentioned that she had attended a birth the night before and was exhausted. While I understand that birth work is demanding, hearing this during my own labor created underlying anxiety and made me feel as though my experience might be influenced by fatigue -- something that, as a laboring mother, felt outside of my control and not something I should have had to carry emotionally in that moment. As labor progressed, I began to feel that my experience was becoming rushed despite there being no emergent medical concerns. This was my first pregnancy, and I was already navigating the physical intensity, emotional vulnerability, and uncertainty that come with first-time labor. Some comments made during labor felt discouraging rather than empowering, and I noticed that as Angela became more involved, my confidence declined and my labor felt less supported and more pressured. There was a particularly difficult moment when Angela attempted to assist with pushing using manual support internally with my consent. During this, I had an involuntary knee-jerk reaction and accidentally kicked. Instead of reassurance or redirection, the response focused heavily on her personal safety, and I was told that if the movement continued, I could be transferred. This occurred while I was actively laboring, in pain, and emotionally vulnerable. I found myself repeatedly apologizing for something that was clearly accidental and reflexive, which left me feeling ashamed, distressed, and unsupported during a moment when compassion was especially needed. Additionally, being asked questions about past sexual assault during active labor felt unexpected and emotionally jarring given the timing and intensity of the situation. As a nurse myself, I tried to remain understanding and rationalize the intent behind the questions and responses, but emotionally it contributed to my discomfort and sense of vulnerability. Another significant source of stress was feeling as though there was a time pressure placed on my labor, including comments suggesting that if birth did not occur by a certain timeframe approaching midnight, transfer would be necessary. This created a sense of failure and defeat, making me feel as though my body was not performing adequately rather than feeling supported through a normal first-time labor process. I truly believe that with more patience, reassurance, and time, my birth experience may have unfolded differently. I want to emphasize that this review is not meant to discredit anyone's clinical skills. I believe Angela is likely very knowledgeable and experienced in her field. However, bedside manner, emotional safety, and communication profoundly shape a birth experience, and in my case, I felt rushed, discouraged, and emotionally unsupported at times. In contrast, Alysia remained incredibly compassionate and reassuring. She comforted me, encouraged me to trust my body, and reminded me that if I felt the urge to push or return, I would not be turned away. Her support helped me feel seen and cared for during a moment when I was questioning myself. It took me over a year to write this review because I struggled with denial, self-blame, and not wanting to place fault on anyone. Birth is deeply personal, and processing a difficult emotional experience takes time. Ultimately, I am sharing this in hopes that future patients feel emotionally safe, unrushed, and fully supported regardless of staffing fatigue or scheduling challenges. A laboring mother should never feel like a burden or that time is working against her during a normal birth process. Pure Births offers a beautiful philosophy and environment, and I still value the concept of midwifery care. My hope is simply that emotional presence, compassionate communication, and patience remain central to every birthing experience.

Unfortunately, they didn't work with my schedule. My main concern being a new mom was breastfeeding. I went online and tried finding a doula who would offer me a private class. Alas, I found Cali. What immediately impressed me was how quick she responded to my intro email. She was open to come over to my house, teach me the basics about breastfeeding and offer her advice postpartum. Cali was helpful, professional, and caring. Having my first baby with Cali's support made the experience that much better. So glad I found Cali!

It wasn't long until we felt very overwhelmed by all the decisions and challenges that faced us. One of our friends recommended that we hire a doula to help us with the process... and so the search began. We met with a few different doulas, however as soon as we met Cali, we knew she was the perfect fit for our growing family. We felt very comfortable with her, she was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, and her beliefs aligned with ours about the ideal birth. In addition, she offered us private parenting classes since our schedules were always conflicting with the hospital's classes we were interested in taking. In all of our meetings before the birth, Cali came prepared and ready to work. However, I always felt like I was meeting with a good friend. When my water broke 1 month early, Cali dropped everything to be at my side (even though it was her birthday!!) She even came to our house first to help pack for the hospital, keep me calm until my husband got home from work, and even installed our car seat (since we were so unprepared for such an early arrival!) I was a little unsure that I was going to be able to follow the birth plan we had put together, to keep things all natural, with no medical intervention, but with Cali's help, I was! She was calm and encouraging through my entire labor, and provided support for my husband as he coached me through a successful, all natural birth. We could not be more grateful. After the birth, Cali constantly checked in on us, and offered advice and help when we were having some difficulties with breast-feeding during her postpartum visit. We are so thankful that we can look back on our labor in a positive light, and we have Cali to thank for that. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a Doula.

She doesn't interact with the clients and is very dry. The worst thing is her lack of professionalism when it comes to responding to emails and/or text messages. Birth doesn't go as planned and that's exactly why you DO need to take a class. An in depth class. Britta's class. I approached my pregnancy as a 9 month grad school class. I took it upon myself to read books, journal articles, blogs, engage on online discussion groups, listen to podcast... really everything I could to learn the ins and outs of this journey I was on. My husband read a book. Kind of. He definitely skimmed it. I knew that our vocabularies were so different that we needed to find a class that would allow us to have a shared lexicon to properly communicate. I researched (like everything else) just about every class type offered in the greater Los Angeles Metro Area and I was just called to Embodica. My husband likes to refer to a lot of what I'm into as "hippie s**t." From that statement, it's clear he is not. I spoke to Britta on the phone before the class began, worried that her class would be too "wooey" for him, but after our conversation I knew she was grounded and funny enough that he would be won over. Because man did he have to be won over when I showed him the website. Our first class was an eyeopener for both of us. We were one of 6 couples, all due within two months of each other. My husband saw the focal point in the middle of the circle and arched an eyebrow--he just knew we paid a lot of money for woo-woo crap. Then Britta began to talk and I saw him perk up and really began to listen. When Britta demoed what a real contraction could look like, he was all in. Later that evening when we practiced comforting our partners while holding ice, I learned that he thought singing "Henry the VIII I Am" and some Queen son were appropriate comforting strategies, and so the revelation I they were not before labor probably saved our marriage and/or his life. Over the six weeks of class, we learned so much. Despite my exhaustive research, actually learning from someone as knowledgable and grounded as Britta allowed me to put all the information I was learning in context. My husband was able to learn the ins of out of the technical side of all things pregnancy/labor. Together, we developed a coping strategy that worked well for both of us. So yes, you cannot prepare for birth. I was pretty sure when push came to shove, I would lock myself in a room by myself and push everyone away (the perks of a homebirth is that I really could do this!). Yet, when things actually started, I needed my husband to be there for me. We used everything we learned in Britta's class over the course of my 55 hour unmedicated labor. My husband was able to truly comfort me and meet my needs in a way I know for a fact he wouldn't have been able to do before our class. We now talk to a lot of the other couples through a private little FB group one of the mom's created and are planning on meeting up soon so all the babies can meet. My husband and I also reflect on our time in that class often as we navigate the "4th trimester." As a parting gift, Britta gave each member of the class a labyrinth necklace. I haven't taken mine off since I put it on shortly before I went into labor and my husband's cord just broke as he would thumb the pendant so often. It's a reminder that our journey is continuing and to give ourselves patience and grace as we navigate this new world of parenthood. My husband and I will both be forever grateful for our experience in Britta's class and wholeheartedly recommend it to every couple preparing to welcome their child into the world. Oh, and as an aside, I really love how Britta used non-gendered terms even though we were all heterosexual, cis couples. "Birthing partner," "supporting partner," etc. Speaking to trans and lesbian couples, I know finding a safe and supportive birthing class can be difficult, so I think it's important to point this out.

My husband and I felt so lucky to have attended this workshop. We had not taken any other…read morechildbirth classes but we both felt more than sure that we ended up at the best one in the world. Britta's skill as a mentor, storyteller, listener, and communication guide are unmatched and I cannot possibly imagine anyone better suited to exactly the work she does with parents-to-be. I learned so much, yet never felt overwhelmed with information since she made the day so interactive. There is so much that I took with me not only into labor and childbirth but in parenting, life, and my relationships with my partner, my self, and my environment - without a specific to-do list or set of stock instructions. I loved how all the learning was connected to deep reflection into the senses for I believe that this is how real learning takes place - in the whole self.... After we had our baby my husband and I went to Britta for couples counseling and we had another great experience. The three of us sat in her lovely studio and she helped mediate difficulties we were having. Things have been so much better ever since that one session!!

When my husband and I became pregnant with our first child, I was still carrying a deep grief. My…read moremother had passed away just one year earlier, and as a 38-year-old first-time mom, I felt lost without her guidance. I remember sharing that with Chavah early in my pregnancy, and from that moment on, she cared for me with a level of compassion and sensitivity that I will never forget. Before I even chose a midwife, I prayed for guidance. Then I opened Yelp, and Chavah was the very first midwife I called. After speaking with her on the phone, I didn't search any further. Looking back now, five months postpartum, I truly know she was an answer to my prayer. Chavah cared for us from the very beginning of my pregnancy--around three months along--through birth and into those precious first weeks postpartum. Throughout every appointment, she was wise, kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took the time to educate us, answer our endless first-time-parent questions, and guide us through each stage with confidence and reassurance. One thing that especially touched us was her willingness to go above and beyond when life threw us an unexpected curveball. Midway through my pregnancy, my husband and I had to relocate, moving about 70 miles away. Most people would have understandably referred us elsewhere, but Chavah generously agreed to keep us on as clients. We were so grateful. Those extra miles meant more to us than she probably realizes. Our pregnancy was healthy and uncomplicated. The only bump in the road was that I needed an iron boost, and Chavah quickly connected us with excellent care for a couple of iron transfusions. Her experience and attentiveness gave us complete confidence that we were in good hands every step of the way. When it came time to give birth, Chavah was absolutely amazing. She created an environment where I felt informed, supported, and in control. Well... as much control as a woman can feel while temporarily visiting another dimension during contractions. Thankfully, our son had places to be and arrived after just five hours of active labor, making his debut before lunchtime. Today, we are five months postpartum and have a healthy, thriving baby boy. I've intentionally taken my time writing this review because I wanted to reflect carefully on our experience and express just how grateful we are. Chavah brought wisdom when I needed guidance, encouragement when I felt uncertain, and compassion when I was grieving. She cared for not only my physical health, but my emotional well-being too. I honestly cannot imagine a better midwife experience. If we are blessed with more children in the future, I would choose Chavah again without hesitation. Knowing she would be part of our care would bring immediate peace of mind. Thank you, Chavah, for everything you did for our family--and for so much more than was ever required. We will always be grateful.
