I tried to make an appointment online but had some technical issue so I called instead. This was all done the morning of, and yet they were able to have me come in later that afternoon. It's a clean, small space but it's got everything you can imagine. There's plenty of parking in front of the salon. Tiffany was my stylist, and I was warned that she was going to charge more than the other stylists due to her experience (note -- all stylists charge differently based on this). As a Californian who has paid way too much for the simplest of cuts, I can genuinely say Tiffany's surcharge was 1000% worth it. She was so kind and personable, and that really made the experience. She gave me her honest thoughts and was very communicative throughout the process. She really gave me the exact hairstyle I asked for after barely flashing her a photo, and I'm so endlessly impressed! Despite constantly cycling through short hair, I've actually never liked myself in it very much. However, Tiffany's work allowed me to feel more confident in rocking a short cut than I've ever felt! I went to this salon because a stylist I had been seeing for over a year moved here. She had been maintaining my cherry cola color for about a year, and when she moved to The Boulevard, I told her I wanted to start the process of going back to my natural level 6 brown. I understood that removing red is a process and specifically told her I was completely fine doing it over multiple appointments. I also asked if we could keep the first appointment within a certain timeframe because I had dinner plans, and she agreed. My appointment was scheduled for noon. When I arrived, I sat alone for 30 minutes without being greeted, consulted, or acknowledged by anyone before my stylist finally came over. The appointment ultimately lasted 7 hours, and I had bleach on my hair for approximately 3 hours. When I left, my hair was severely damaged. In fact, my stylist knew it didn't look right because as I was leaving, she told me to "wear a ponytail to dinner." That is not something you say to a client who just spent hundreds of dollars and received a successful service. I have since shown photos from that appointment to other licensed cosmetologists, and multiple have told me the damage was evident as soon as the foils came out. I have always taken excellent care of my hair, use professional products, and have never experienced damage like this. My hair is now rough, difficult to manage, and completely different from how it felt before. I can't run my fingers through it, my natural texture is gone, and it is genuinely unrecognizable to me. I was so upset that I spent the entire weekend crying and had to miss work on Monday. When I called the salon Monday morning, I was told the owner would contact me. I never received a call. When I called back two hours later, the owner suddenly answered. She offered a free treatment if I came in immediately, but the first thing she said to me in person was, "It's not that bad." After spending two days devastated over the condition of my hair, that was incredibly dismissive and upsetting to hear. The owner then told me that the original stylist would perform my next treatment and that I could pay for a new color service. I explained that after what happened, I believed I deserved both a refund and a corrective color service. The stylist refused a refund, and offered the color service for free. I agreed to this, and then stylist put red back on my hair, leaving me looking almost exactly as I did before I started this process, except now my hair is badly damaged and I am out $700. I came to this salon because I trusted my stylist and trusted the salon to guide me through this process responsibly. Instead, I have walked out feeling worse every single time. The most disappointing part is that the owner never apologized, never took accountability, and never made a meaningful attempt to make this right. I wish I had never come here. I am now left paying for the damage done to my hair, and multiple people who have seen the condition of it have told me I should pursue legal action because of how severe the damage is.

I was excited about getting another deal for straightening my hair in this St. Louis love called Humdiity. It was in a small neighborhood on a semi busy street that you can park on. The parking lot was closed. Service: Friendly to indifferent. This is a neighborhood salon and there were many signs of permanence and chummy chatter with people who called. The other hair dresser that was there that night was cutting her cousin's (?) hair before they headed to the bar that night, so said. This hair straightening treatment was the non formaldehyde treatment, which is suppose to be healthier(?) or at least the one that will not cause cancer. The hair dresser was indifferent at best. She was knocking out the treatment and heading for home or bar as soon as she could. Treatment: The whole treatment burned my scalp, eyes..etc... I mentioned it to the hairdresser and she said it does that. The fumes got in my eyes and I started coughing. It was a horrible experience. The burning did not stop and I had to shower immediately when I got home. I don't know if this is why the treatment did not last or if it was because of her lack of experience. I am glad that my hair did not fall out. Please please research your salons before getting a groupon! It should have been a sign when there was no reviews on this salon at the time. :( Lesson learned. TLDR: Bluehair local salon with indifferent overtones. Careful of your hair if you go here.
