Reminiscing on that experience, I considered ordering an online Blue Crab delivery - however the delivery fee alone is $30-$50. Sea Depot to the rescue! Sea Depot will steam an order of 12 crabs for you. In addition, they provide fresh and cooked fish/seafood options. With that being said, they suggest you reserve your crab section as they do sell out. Unfortunately, you don't actually select your crabs. We received a mixture of mid-sized female and male crabs. The quality was solid, and the service was exceptional. We also, ordered fresh fish. We found this to be a good selection if you want to order precooked or fresh fish, but be mindful there are other providers that are 20-30% lower in price but equal in quality. Finally tried Sea Depot as a takeout order. The staff here are nice and professional. My Mom called me from the restaurant and a staff member spoke with me to clarify my order. I enjoyed the flounder and shrimp. I wasn't a fan of the scallops here. Overall, a good go-to seafood selection accessible to both Cary and West Raliegh residents. We special ordered a bushel of blue crabs for our party and the Sea Depot folks were super helpful and came through with great product. Most impressive, they checked the crabs before we left the store to ensure we didn't get any dead ones, not all places do this, and dead crabs are wasted money! There is a very kind and helpful lady with a ponytail that's so pleasant to interact with. After seeing a bunch of reviews on Sea Depot I had to go check it out since man can not live by pizza and burgers alone! Sometimes seafood is the only way to go and you know how these casual seafood spots are. Not much to look at but once you get past that, you're in for a great meal! Sea Depot is located on the corner of Chatham and Maynard, there are lot entrances on both streets, just get as far to the corner as you can. Small, ratty storefront, inside it's not much better. One display area full of crushed ice and a mish-mash of equipment, sundry items and more. I had called in an order of country flounder and fried shrimp which comes to me in a styrofoam contain for $9.95. Walking out with my lunch, I admit I was immediate skeptical because it didn't pass the weight test. The whole lunch package felt a bit light but we shall see! I get home with my fried seafood haul and it looks decent. The combo seafood platter comes with tater tots, hushpuppies, a small container of slaw along with 8 or so shrimp and one fried catfish filet. The sides are decent, the shrimp is plump and tender while the catfish is a bit different coated in cornmeal. Overall a nice meal but falls a bit short of what I typically get at Saltwater Seafood and Fry Shack. Quality-wise Sea Depot is decent but there's less food and it costs a bit more which dings them. Saltwater seafood typically gives two pieces of fish, more for sides and they'll normally pack butter, cocktail sauce and/or tartar. So Sea Depot isn't bad at all but I have to give em 3.5 stars for value and I'm rounding down. Just my first visit so we'll see what happens for round 2! read more

Sea Depot has every conceivable type of local fish caught, like, today. It doesn't get much fresher than this, and the variety is pretty incredible. With laser-like speed the guys behind the counter will clean and filet whatever sounds good to you, and you can race back home and to prepare it as only you can. They have a cute tagline "You Buy, We Fry" meaning they will even go so far as to batter and fry your selection while you wait, I haven't taken them up on this but they have a loyal following judging by the line at about 4 pm. They also sell fresh NC oysters in the shell, and Washington Oysters in pint containers that pan-fry into a quick and delicious entree when you can't think of anything else to make. read more
