Their stock of fish, invertebrates, snails, and corals is quite large than most place we've visited. My son got some good deals on a clown fish and some corals to start with. My husband's hobby is his saltwater tank. We only have a small one so it can be challenging to figure things out and what would work in a smaller space. The staff here was very knowledgeable and helpful and gave us a lot of advice that we needed. We have two clownfish and a cleaner shrimp and we want to get our tank ready to take on some corals. They were really nice and told us that we have a few things we need to do first before we can introduce the coral to our tank. So we held off on buying any corals for now. They also can check the water for you as well. We're going to bring a sample of our water next time for them to check it before we decide to introduce anything else. We stopped by on Wednesday to see if they had anything worth carrying back to Fairbanks, AK with us. Chris greeted us and said to let him know if we needed anything at all. We had, apparently, missed the Black Friday discount the previous week, but when we said we were from Alaska he said he'd extend the discount to us, since we missed out on it the week prior. We were surprised at the quantity and quality of frags he still had available, and when we learned of the Black Friday discount we decided to clean him out, as best we could. Chris is soooo awesome!!!!!! Sea King is a new-er salt water fish store and I think I really liked that about here. Chris is so attentive and he knows everything about everything that he has in the store like is his own. He only sells fish and corals but is lovely this way, and it feels more less money-centric when he isn't trying to sell you on a bunch of other skus too. He also will order fishes for you and keep a detailed record of what you are looking for. We wanted an Achilles tang in a certain size a while back, and we had left our name and number with another more well known fish store, they NEVER called us even though we knew they got some in their shipment. Chris on the other hand was able to get his hands on one in a short time after we gave him our info. And he does not over priced things either. He has amazing prices for everything which is why we really like it here. Another example of him going over the top was when we were looking for a spotted mandarin to help with our flatworm problem in our tank. He had some in his frag tanks and even though he knew it was going to be a pain to catch them, he at least tried. We spent about 10 minutes trying to catch a spotted mandarin, we couldn't but the effort Chris put in, just means so much to us. And the frags we get from Sea King, when we dip them at home, there are way less stuff that come out in comparison to other bigger fish stores. This has definitely became our #1 must-go when we look for new fishes and corals. Keep it up, Chris :) read more

Doesn't really sell supplies, and almost no fish, BUT, if you are looking for a ridiculous array of premium quality coral at surprisingly reasonable prices, this is a goldmine of a shop. He does one thing and does it VERY well. He's regularly got beautiful coral for . . .seriously. . .half the price of barrier or saltwater city. And where Barrier has a good collection, it's never high quality or well cared for, their service is bad, and they lie to sell you things that will die. Healthy stock with great service and honest advice. All that at MUCH lower prices than anywhere else. I've pretty much stopped even bothering to look elsewhere. If I want something he doesn't carry, he just orders it for me. He's only been around for like a year, so a lot of people don't know about the place, but I don't think a place this good is going to go away. He's gonna put those other places out of business!! read more

Stopped in today looking for some coral. There was a very large variety of nice zoas, mushrooms, golden torches, and some high end SPS, I was very surprised to see some really high end colonies for affordable prices! The owner was very nice and an avid hobbyist. Great saltwater coral shop compared to others in the area. I will definitely be stopping in again!! read more

Came here with my friend who has a saltwater tank and the two girls here are incredibly helpful and friendly I wouldn't recommend any other saltwater fish store in this area. They are always willing to help educate and make great suggestions for corals to safely be introduced to your own tank at home. I've been to a few other spots and they are nowhere near as friendly and helpful, check it out if your in the hoppy! read more

I go to as many local fish stores as I can. Saltwater is always tricky for many reasons... Chain stores don't often have a wide range of stock or even healthy stock. Their anemones and soft corals are overpriced and extremely limited. Live rock is also in short supply so most places are a no go. Places like Sea King are a gem and I'm happy to have dedicated reef stores in the area. I first step in and see a huge container of dead rock/base rock in it so instantly that was a great sign. I was greeted by Chris and he gave me some great advice for my budget 20G starter. I wish I was here to buy my live rock off him but sadly I had already purchased some. He has a few huge show tanks for soft corals and anemones. They're all priced pretty fairly and accordingly and look beautiful. He has limited stock of fish but they all look happy and healthy. Not to mention I'm sure he could order something if you were looking for a specific fish or even coral. Beautiful small shop filled with things I want in my tanks, Chris was great! Not once was I pressured into buying something and I'll return to grab some frags from him soon. Come see for yourself how good this fish store is. read more
