Sunday brunch was a great way to celebrate our anniversary. We'll go again sometime for dinner.

More on the watery side, it was more like a soup than a thick, creamy chowder. Served with a slice of bread, it did hit the spot when the weather turned a bit chilly. At $11 for an 8 ounce container, this is pricy even for Alaska standards. My 8 oz cup and my niece's 16 oz bowl was almost $29 including tax!

About the best food you will find in Sitka…read more Wonderful ambience and quaint location, a small refined yet unassuming little hideaway near the docks. Ludvig's brings a touch of class and Mediterranean cuisine to the sleepy Alaskan town. Upon arriving the restaurant was only about half full, a counter style bar and traditional table seating downstairs and a nice enclosed upstairs area as well. My server greeted me and quickly brought me a coffee. She offered me drip or french press, I actually ended up trying both, with a noticeable increase in quality and flavor with the latter! The menu looks great, I was leaning toward the wonderful madame cristo but ended up going with a croissant Benedict after my servers suggestion, which may have been a mistake! The Benedict was reasonably tasty, the hollandaise was well prepared and tasty, but the eggs were definitely over cooked sadly, more soft boiled than poached. The potatoes on the side were very crispy, to the point I feel it was a mistake from sitting out, and lastly I found the croissant, which is traditionally a dainty thing to be massive and kind of too much to be honest. Overall I did like the dish, the thin sliced ham was delicious, but next time I'll definitely be having one cristo or another I should think. In conclusion I do recommend the place! There are precious few good restaurants in Sitka, and more to the point I was pleasantly surprised at the value as well. Come in and try!

I was able to reserve everything via email. Easy enough and the price was great for 4 to golf 9 holes with pick up from port and back. It was $120/person and was a great price compared to other excursions, and who doesn't want to say they went golfing in Alaska! Different from the norm and we loved it! Once we arrived in port, I received a call where to meet our driver. He was super friendly and a quick and easy drive to the course. It was only about 10-15 minutes away. As soon as we got there we walked into the clubhouse to check in and get our gear. The clubs and cart were clean and gently used. We're not pros so it worked for us! We started off with drinks before the range and then to our 9 holes. Range is standard, warmed up and off we went. Greens and Tee boxes are astroturf which I totally get with weather they get. But the views are amazing. Pictures don't do it justice, it's absolutely breathtaking!!! Some steep rides up hill but the golf carts made it! Half way through we were back at the clubhouse for a break and some tasty hot dogs and beer! Bathrooms were clean which is always a plus!! The staff was amazing! Back to the course and forgot which hole, I believe 4 or 5 and you're at the very top of the mountain driving your ball to the hole below. Absolutely amazing!! Definitely a fun experience you have to try to say you did!! The weather was perfect that day for us! Hope to visit again some day!!

The most incredible spot, we came here twice in a row and wanted to visit again for a third dinner,…read morebut they were closed for the day. Let me tell you something....... THE YUZU MISO COD!!! WOW! Easily one of the best things I've ever eaten. Cooked to actual perfection, the most delicate and soft flakes, infused with (not overly sweet) glaze. I'm like daydreaming just thinking about it. Every bite. I was floored. Even by the last few bites, I was still so impressed, it might as well have been the first. And that broccolini had phenomenal flavor/texture. Oh, and the savory butter board focaccia has ruined all other bread/butter for me. I fear I'll never be the same. On par with the food, Beak is community-driven, centering people, values, and quality, locally sourced ingredients. It was awesome to see where the main dishes were sourced from, right there on the menu (all Alaskan groups or local Sitka cooperatives!). My gosh, it makes a difference, and each bite is even more special. If you have a moment, I'd really encourage checking out their website and reading through the 'About' section. You'll fall even more head-over-heels in love with this place. Beak is the model for the future we need. Each staff member we interacted with was 10/10 stellar. They were beaming when talking about the owner/chef and how much they loved working there. Beak is gratuity-free (non-tipping), and any place that pays its staff a living wage gets extra points in my book! Any tips go to staff-selected charities/causes in the area. I'll argue with anyone: the pricing is awesome. Like.. actually take a second and think about it: - LOCAL ingredients.. that means great quality, AND you're supporting local communities (and they're *locally-run* ones too, I really can't emphasize this enough... **especially** if you're coming here as a tourist, you better be actively trying to find ways to support the community) - Gratuity-free/included in pricing!! - And, oh yeah, it's like the best bite of food I've had in my life. We don't even need to compare on relativity because Beak speaks for itself, but if you really want to go there -- live in any other coastal city, and you'll realize that it's a steal. Like it's actually bonkers. No one's doing this. I doubt anyone reads this far on a Yelp review, but even if I'm shouting into the void, it'll be in praise for Beak. Someone call the tire man, Chef Renee deserves her star!

So dang good, we came back again for lunch before heading to the airport. On the first go around,…read morewe had both White and Red King salmon, and both were exceptional. It was our first time for white king salmon for both of us. We split a massaged kale salad, and I have to say I am not the biggest fan of kale, but this "tasted like Christmas". Very enjoyable. As if that were not enough, and it normally would have been, it was also strongly suggested that we get a cup of the creamy house salmon chowder. That one was perfection. I would probably eat her once, if not twice, a week if I lived in Sitka. On the second time around, we brought a friend who also fell in love with the food and vibe. I tried the duck fat & huckleberry dessert. I love duck fat in general, so I expected it to be very good, and it was even better than that. I believe it was a version of Akutaq. They also served the version with vegetable fat. I deeply enjoyed mine. I will definitely come back here should I make it back to Sitka again.
