The home we rented (for over $400 per night, plus a $200 non-refundable cleaning deposit) was the "Urban Escape" on Sea Ranch. The property itself was in need of some repairs and upgrades: the hot water tank gave out the first night. The rental agency contact did get a plumber out to us, but I had got the pilot to stay lit while he was there, and he left with the wrong diagnosis (improper ventilation). After repeated re-lightings, the pilot would not stay on. We gave up on it. Also, the built-in microwave was kaput, and the original oven controls were missing. A replacement microwave was set on a counter. One day into the stay, a cabinet door to the kitchen sink area fell off. The fill cycle in the master bath toilet would not shut off without jiggling the handle. Coasting Home should have known of the issues with this home, and should not have listed it. Answer? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Sea Ranch Escape has the best houses and we like that they are a locally owned business and not a corporate behemoth. Their personal touch really matters. Just recently, they took the time to call us and inform us that the house we had rented was going to have a full scale house remodel going on next door and offered to move us to a comparable house which would be more peaceful and quiet. In addition, when we forgot some clothing at the house, they had housekeeping retrieve the items for us then shipped it back to us in the city. A+++ for customer service and they are all just genuinely lovely people.

Having read the extensive number of reviews listed below, I wish to express my perspective from my years of experience so that the current quality of this excellent Sea Ranch vacation rental agency can be illuminated. Ocean View Properties has functioned under two distinctly separate ownerships. When my husband and I first discovered Ocean View Properties back in 2009, the woman who created the agency, Dorothy, and her staff, always treated us well enough. However, the quality of the rental homes and the level of cleanliness in the homes we rented was variable -- sometimes good, sometimes less than desirable. But when the new owners, Marianne and Steve, took over Ocean View Properties back in May 2015, we began noticing a dramatic change in quality of housekeeping and customer service immediately. And to this day, having rented an Ocean View Properties home on a monthly basis, I feel compelled to express my heart-felt gratitude for all the amazing improvements that have unfolded under Marianne and Steve's ownership. The quality of homes has increased exponentially. Here's why: though the homes themselves may be the same as before, Marianne and Steve strongly encouraged the homeowners to upgrade appliances, kitchen items, furniture, bedding, windows, screens, etc. These changes made the homes so much more immediately comfortable and livable for all renters, especially folks like us who come to Sea Ranch on a monthly basis and consider it our "other home". Also the level of housekeeping has lifted to a stellar degree. When we check in, the homes are spotless, well stocked with everything we need, and it is just such a pleasure to settle in and live our Sea Ranch life. The staff works so incredibly well as a team. I can feel that they all weave together their unique talents and skills in order to bring the best possible experience to us as renters. So to say I am grateful for this fantastic rental agency for the Sea Ranch homes we rent would truly be an understatement. Thanks to these people and what they provide to my darling husband, my sweet dogs, and me, we truly live life at Sea Ranch as a second home and I wouldn't dream of renting from any other agency in the area (other than Beach Rentals, their sister agency right next door -- also a fabulous Sea Ranch rental agency).

We found it to be a very relaxing environment and a great location for beach access, fishing, kayaking, and wine tasting in the Anderson Valley. The condo is decorated with a nautical/beach theme but it's not campy or overdone- really just the right amount to make guests feel instantly at home. The family room and bedrooms are spacious and well-appointed. We loved the jacuzzi tub in the master bath. And the kitchen is really well stocked; there's a full set of dishes, serving pieces and basic bakeware. We've stayed at couple other vacation condo/cottage rentals before and we've never found a place that could match SeaWatch in terms of comfort and amenities. We've booked a return trip w/ friends again this summer and we can't wait to come again! PS- We also saw a whale in March 2008 from the kitchen table w/ the spotting scope & binoculars available at SeaWatch!

We were not able to dine in the restaurant, since it was mostly closed for the wedding. That was unfortunate at breakfast time on the day of the wedding, but the cafe food was pretty good. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. Of course the setting is beyond beautiful.

I got the curry chicken salad and my wife got the grilled cheese with tomato soup. I liked mine. The portion was good and very fresh and tasty. My wife thought the grilled wasn't her kind of grilled cheese. It had more of a grilled meaty flavor that she wasn't looking for. But it was well prepared. The salad and the salad dressing were very good. The dressing was very light and bright and lemony. I had a bloody Mary. Which was tasty. My wife had a Bellini with peach and it was also tasty. Also, I got a half dozen oysters, which were very good. One small note is that there were several small pieces of shell mixed in with the oyster. Which makes them hard to eat. But the taste of the oysters was very good. One last thing, I would have liked the oysters to start, rather than served with the rest of the food. Overall, this place is nice has great views and I would come back.

Over the last 5 years or so, other players have come in like, VRBO(same as HomeAway), Airbnb, and some agencies in Gualala. But Rams Head Realty has sold it's rental business to https://www.vacasa.com, which is a national rental agency, like HomeAway.

House had rodent droppings on counter tops, carpet, tile floor, cushioned seats, and window sills. Their solution: put out poison and vacuum and wipe down. There was no effort to find out where on the outside of the house rodents were coming in. There was no talk of shampooing carpets since there was likely rodent urine in the rugs as well (and where would we be able to go for the 24 hours it would take for rugs to dry?). They urged us to stay, as if that would be a hygienic and relaxing vacation. They had no other oceanfront property available so we had to leave. While they reimbursed us for the weekend, they made no effort to compensate us for our trouble, for gas, etc. I sent a letter to the president and after a few weeks got a pathetic reply, basically blaming us for leaving. It was our "choice" to leave. Um, yeah, it was our choice to not stay in a home that hadn't been properly cleaned and that your staff made no effort to secure on the outside from further rodent infestation. It's also our choice to not use Rams Head ever again. And it's our choice to tell others about our experience. You had the choice to offer good customer service; I'm sorry you chose otherwise. It speaks volumes of your management style.
