As soon as we walked…read morein we noticed the fans mounted on the walls, four in total, were all caked with dust that it looked like they have NEVER been cleaned. The unit is very dated and more importantly was not cleaned! The bed and pillows were stained, washer and dryer dirty and filled with lint. Main area rug was very dirty and looked like it never was replaced, hair on bathroom floor. We never were without shoes the entire time. Furniture dated, nicked and unmatched. There was dried milk on the back of one of the dining room chairs, never cleaned. We put a sheet on the couch to sit. Knobs on drawers were missing, countertops made of Formica falling apart, all the trim throughout the unit was nicked and peeling with rust marks. The balcony chairs were rust rotted. How much does it cost to buy a couple gallons of paint to fix up the place and update it every so often?? Bathroom had piles of hair in corners. Kitchen has very dated appliances, crack on microwave door. My wife and mother cleaned the whole place with sanitizing wipes. It took them hours to clean! Refrigerator inside needed cleaned. The glass doors were not cleaned at all! The couch on the patio was filthy, couldn't sit on it! The smoke detector is missing a cover, not sure if it worked light was red. Do the owners even care or know they have a disaster?! Pictures are obviously a bad representation of this place. I wanted to leave as soon as we arrived but we had nowhere else to go after driving 12 hours to get there. We had a wedding to attend the next day. Front desk and management team suggested that we got the dated room price. Didn't realize there were prices for dated rooms verses updated rooms. Ron, from One Luxury, was not very nice on the phone because we complained about the unit. He basically yelled at me telling me we'd get our money back if we left right now. Where do we go after a 12 hour drive with my 85 year old mom. Very disappointed of how he treated us. Please believe me, we are not people with high expectations! We just wanted a clean and nice place with updated furnishings that were clean. Never rent unit 1109, in building one. You will be highly disappointed!

I lived on Topsail Island twice…read moreover the years, always noticed the Loggerhead Inn but hadn't stayed at any short-term place until this week. I don't care for the chain brands, but they're easy to avoid on the island as there ARE none : ) I can say that current pictures on the website are totally accurate. I also don't doubt the experiences posted years ago, because when I was singing the Loggerhead's praises to a staff member during my recent stay, she said that current management has worked hard to upgrade and update the place, that "It used to be somewhat of a dive" (her words). I absolutely can say that's no longer the case! Though I don't care for the visual sterility of the "chains," I'm pretty much anal about cleanliness. The Loggerhead has that in spades. I don't even take anything into any room before pulling up sheets to check mattress seams for evidence of bedbugs! (Yes, anal I know, but has been to my benefit in the past - at a "chain" place.) My room was squeaky clean, including towels, bathroom, floors, and bedding. Moreover, the cleaning staff appears to take pride in their work. My room was extremely clean and quite comfortable. The walk from my room to the beach access was shorter than some walks in a Walmart parking lot. But 2 nitpicky features stood out to me. (1) It has been my experience in other places that management leaves NO electrical outlet accessible to guests, that it isn't even possible to charge a phone without unplugging something, often from an outlet behind furniture. I took a power strip with me this time, only to discover that my Loggerhead room had FOUR totally unused and fully accessible outlets for guest use. (2) I've also often lamented not having brought paper towels with me, so I had a roll in the car for this trip. Yep, found a roll in the room when I arrived. Also, I had some remote work to do during my stay and found the wifi service to be flawless. The Loggerhead isn't totally transparent in its pricing - added about a 36% "service charge" to its published room rate - but total price is reasonable and competitive in the November off season and in line with other Topsail independents. So no harm no foul, but also no absurdly low price touted on the website. I have to go back to the area in a month. I'll be staying at the Loggerhead again and looking forward to it.

Worst decision even though the amenities etc you still have to think about other patrons the motel attracts. I quickly learned how thin the walls were and so loud music playing all night , after being in the water and sun I got zero sleep. Everyone leaves at 11 and only option advised was to call the police. Originally gave this place 4 stars but now dropping it to 1 as no matter how much fun you have if you don't get any rest you question if it was even worth it. Next time I'll just stick to the wagon and pay for parking

The balcony furniture is plastic and uncomfortable so we dragged out the room chairs which made balcony sitting way more comfortable. I do have to say the entire staff there are very nice and very courteous! Even having said that I would stay again because of the ocean views, at least our room, and the location to direct beach access. One note to make the parking is limited to only one vehicle per room and its tight. If you leave the hotel for dinner out in your car you very well may not get a space in the hotel and will have to pay to park your car overnight. I don't know why they just don't mark each parking space correlated to you room number because they do give you a car tag for your car at check in.???

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone seeking to book at Wrightsville Beach, NC. I stayed at this hotel for over a week in 2025. When I had a confirmed booking a week ago, however, I was within the rebooking cancellation range of time. I called the front office, to seek available dates for the time I was in NC and was willing to fill any dates available that the had while I am flexible. I had a confirmed booking the prior week, however, when I called totry and book a new reservation for a few days while in NC, the from desk person said that I was banned from booking due to noise from my previous booking I di online and stated noise complaints from a "service dog" in 2025. That is complete false lie. On my intial booking, I booked my stay and prior to checking in I brought my " service dog" certification to the front desk. A 4.5 Pount Yorkie who is CERTIFIED as a SERIVE DOG. Upon, checking in, the Manager, questioned this, and the first morning I was away from my Yorkie who is CERTFIED in Allergy/Sezuire Detection, the Manager called me and stated a noise complaint. The hotel was mostly empty, however, I addressed this immediatly and thereafter took my Yorkie with me on the beach each day therafter. During my stay, the GM David-? was very discriminant, and called me to let me know that my dog had barked a few times around 11:00 am while I had gone to the store. I immediatly returned and let him come to the room and investigate. I had changed my dog's food prior to my stay and he barked while i was away possibly due to the ingrediants of the new BLUE BUFFALLO food. There after, I took my 4.5 pound Yorkie to the beach with me each day. The GM or Mananger mentioned that it was the housekeeper who mentioned the noise. Housekeeping never even came to my room, however, when I called the front desk to get new sheets related to bugs on my pillowcases, the GM/Manager came to my room and I helped change the sheets after he inspected the house keepers work. When I check out of my room, I placed a THANK YOU card with a $100 tip for the guy General Manager/Manager hoping that he would accept my appreciation and change his judgement of the CHARACTER he ahd of me. Fast forward, I booked a room last week online for a 7 day stay, I had no problems when I called the front desk and spoke with 'Kathy", however when she had to look deeper at what was available today June/15th, 2026, she called me back and stated that I was BANNED as a customer to book any future stay. Probably, the Manager she consulted with while he was working remembered my lasy stay, Which was nothing to be affected to me staying there agian. Total discrimination because the Manager's decision from my previous stay. My room was completely impeccable when I check out of the hotel lasy year,I had no issues except that I needed sheets to replace and called the front dek to change myself. But because the Manager questioned my 'Service dog" he created a scenario/narrative against me. I do not think that their management will continue with this discrimination. I did nothing wrong and when asked about complaints, they have nothing to prove. This was an inside discrimination from the Manager. All of the employees except the Manager, Jeanie and Kathy were awesome. Kathy was awesome lat week when I needed to reschedule until she had to ask her "Manager" about dates available. I have been flexible and told the hotel that I would fill the dates that were open. Total discrimination from the Manager-David if that is his name.

We also had a good dinner at Oceanic across the street. The pool was very nice and never very busy. Our rooms were clean and the place was quiet (except for footsteps above). Each suite is individually owned so there was variability in the kitchen set up (e.g., full-sized fridge vs smaller, oven vs toaster oven, high table vs regular table) and decor of some units is more updated than others. Also, my unit had blackout drapes but others didn't. They also had beach chairs, beach towels, and sand toys available to use. WiFi was fast enough to upload pictures to social media but was slow for more data-heavy tasks. Breakfast is available in the lobby starting at 7:30. There are no tables to eat in the lobby but they have trays so that you can take the food back to your room. They had fresh fruit, juices, cold cereal, instant oatmeal, instant grits, packaged pastries, coffee (no decaf), and tea. Taphne and Steven were extremely nice and very helpful. Our reservations were complicated and changed at least twice and they were very accommodating. We booked directly (instead of booking dot com) and Taphne gave us a discount.

The suite had two rooms, bathroom and kitchen. There was an ocean view and a nice balcony with a view of the Atlantic Ocean. Across the street was the Oceanic seafood restaurant, would recommend that to any traveler in the area. The continental breakfast was also quality. The options included boxed cereal, juices, breakfast bars, and fruit. The coffee was hand batched each morning and bags delivered to the rooms. We could not get WIFI in our room and had to go down to the living room to pick up signal. Which is OK....but we wanted to watch a Netflix movie before bed. I would recommend they advertise that WIFI is available in the common areas only....or get a second router/wifi booster. Breakfast was at 0830....kind of early for a weekend stay..... Had that unusual awkwardness walking into the dining room to sit down and eat with people you don't know.....but, as has always been the case for us, the other guests were extremely friendly and we had a great time. Pecan waffles were excellent, with perfectly cooked bacon. Page sat down with us after all the food was out and we all had nice conversation. Finally, Hoge Wood House is one of the few, maybe only, B&Bs in this area that allow kids under 12. THM (Take Home Message): Very warm and inviting hosts in Larry and Page. Walking distance to downtown. Excellent breakfast. Allow children under 12 y/o. Wished WiFi worked in the guest rooms. $160 per night. Probably more expensive in peak season. Still cheaper than Holiday Inn Resort at Wrightsville Beach.
