This Hotel is over rated and discriminant because of their location. Yes, the hotel has been updated, however, they do not address complaints regarding house keeping, discriminant employee behaviors at check in or management/front desk behavior. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone seeking to book at Wrightsville Beach, NC. I stayed at this hotel for over a week in 2025. When I had a confirmed booking a week ago, however, I was within the rebooking cancellation range of time. I called the front office, to seek available dates for the time I was in NC and was willing to fill any dates available that the had while I am flexible. I had a confirmed booking the prior week, however, when I called totry and book a new reservation for a few days while in NC, the from desk person said that I was banned from booking due to noise from my previous booking I di online and stated noise complaints from a "service dog" in 2025. That is complete false lie. On my intial booking, I booked my stay and prior to checking in I brought my " service dog" certification to the front desk. A 4.5 Pount Yorkie who is CERTIFIED as a SERIVE DOG. Upon, checking in, the Manager, questioned this, and the first morning I was away from my Yorkie who is CERTFIED in Allergy/Sezuire Detection, the Manager called me and stated a noise complaint. The hotel was mostly empty, however, I addressed this immediatly and thereafter took my Yorkie with me on the beach each day therafter. During my stay, the GM David-? was very discriminant, and called me to let me know that my dog had barked a few times around 11:00 am while I had gone to the store. I immediatly returned and let him come to the room and investigate. I had changed my dog's food prior to my stay and he barked while i was away possibly due to the ingrediants of the new BLUE BUFFALLO food. There after, I took my 4.5 pound Yorkie to the beach with me each day. The GM or Mananger mentioned that it was the housekeeper who mentioned the noise. Housekeeping never even came to my room, however, when I called the front desk to get new sheets related to bugs on my pillowcases, the GM/Manager came to my room and I helped change the sheets after he inspected the house keepers work. When I check out of my room, I placed a THANK YOU card with a $100 tip for the guy General Manager/Manager hoping that he would accept my appreciation and change his judgement of the CHARACTER he ahd of me. Fast forward, I booked a room last week online for a 7 day stay, I had no problems when I called the front desk and spoke with 'Kathy", however when she had to look deeper at what was available today June/15th, 2026, she called me back and stated that I was BANNED as a customer to book any future stay. Probably, the Manager she consulted with while he was working remembered my lasy stay, Which was nothing to be affected to me staying there agian. Total discrimination because the Manager's decision from my previous stay. My room was completely impeccable when I check out of the hotel lasy year,I had no issues except that I needed sheets to replace and called the front dek to change myself. But because the Manager questioned my 'Service dog" he created a scenario/narrative against me. I do not think that their management will continue with this discrimination. I did nothing wrong and when asked about complaints, they have nothing to prove. This was an inside discrimination from the Manager. All of the employees except the Manager, Jeanie and Kathy were awesome. Kathy was awesome lat week when I needed to reschedule until she had to ask her "Manager" about dates available. I have been flexible and told the hotel that I would fill the dates that were open. Total discrimination from the Manager-David if that is his name. read more

Ocean front, recently remodeled to almost like-new condition, great free parking, very clean, full size kitchen appliances, all rooms have amazing straight-on ocean view, direct beach access, pool (in season), excellent HVAC System, nice front desk staff, and reasonably priced for a no-frills but very nice hotel (don't let the exterior fool you). I'm usually fairly picky about where we stay, but we will definitely stay here again! read more

Don't know much about this place because I was chased out of the parking lot before I even had a chance to go in and inquire about pricing for an upcoming event room block. I needed to change my baby first as she got sick and I could feel someone watching me. Turn around to find a bitter woman telling me I am trespassing and the lot is not my "free parking". Didn't even give me the chance to explain myself before she stormed off. Will be looking elsewhere for sure. Not the type of people I'd like to deal with. read more

Right on the beach! We were on the first floor and could walk out in our patio onto a path that took you straight to the beach. Layout is like a one bedroom apt, so plenty of privacy. It was clean and has a full kitchen with an ice maker. We went in the off season and the price was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend. read more

It's better than it looks walking up to the room. I'm picky and it was up to my standards. I love the view and that it is in very close distance to a decent restaurant. Everything seemed clean. They updated and you can see that but still a few more amenities to update to get a five star but like I said I'm picky. Overall would definitely stay again. read more

We were in Wilmington for a baby shower and decided to stay the night. We had not planned this so we were looking for places while driving down the beach. Of course most places had no vacancies and it after 8pm so all the property rental offices were closed. We get to Surf Motel Suites first, let me say I don't stay in anybody's motel! Not until last night! When I say I have found a new respect for motels well this one anyway. Lol! The suite was very clean, king bed was super comfy, and the view was spectacular!!! If you are looking for a super clean, no frills, ocean view at a low cost - this is the place for you! Surf Suites is in a GREAT location in Wrightsville Beach and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay there. The only cons were that the mattress was not comfortable for me (my friend thought it was fine) and the dishwasher leaked - BUT DID I MENTION THERE'S A KITCHEN IN UNIT? Because there is and it's fully stocked with all the essential cooking tools which helped us save a lot of money. You can't beat the off season cost for an ocean front view, my advice would be to request the top floor of available for the best view and least noise! I would definitely stay here again. read more

The Surf Suites in Wrightsville Beach NC is great. It is on the beach. You can't get any closer. The 1 bedroom king suite has a full kitchen and a extra sofa bed which we didn't need to use. The suite is large, clean and very comfortable. The building is totally new since the hurricane. New appliances and granite counter tops. Each unit has a balcony facing the ocean and is next to the Oceanic Restaurant and Pier. You can fish off the pier or just take a walk at no charge. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. This hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is surprising. Opening the door, you will have a long hallway which a private bedroom and a bathroom extend off of. At the end of the hallway you'll have a full miniature kitchen with a flat surface stove top oven, microwave, double sink, dishwasher, coffeemaker, full fridge and freezer. The freezer even has an automatic ice maker. The kitchen is stocked with set of 4 coffee mugs, glasses, spoons, knives, forks, bowls a pan pot and cooking utensils. There us a marbled counter island bar with four chairs that divides the room into the living room where there is a rollaway coffee table,chair and fold out couch. We moved the chair and put a twin full blow up mattress down, comfortably fitting 4-5 people in our room. There is a sliding glass door which open up to a private balcony with a great ocean view. Small grass area behind property where bunnies are everywhere and gives a little area for the kids to play paddle ball or throw the football. First floor is walkout, my favorite. Full oceanfront with beach access. Pool on side of hotel clean. All towels, linens and kitchen rags are provided by the hotel. Everything is clean and well designed. Great price and area. The only thing I wish was that there was a ceiling fan in the bedroom. If this property ever makes improvements, I hope this will be one... read more

We were just driving the strip looking for a place to stay when we decided to stop into this one. The man at the front desk was very nice and told us of stuff in the area that we could do. The room was like a mini apartment. We had a king suite there was a bedroom with a small tv, a bathroom, and a kitchen/living room area with stove, dishwasher, big fridge and a sofa with a pull out bed. We had a sliding glass deck and there was a grassy area and a path to get you on the beach. It was so nice there were about 5-7 rabbits that lived in the grassy area. I heard no noise. The pool was very nice. This motel is close to the pier and seems to be on the quiet side of town. Can't wait to go back and stay again. read more

I stayed at Surf Suites for just one evening during a bachelorette party in the Wilmington area. We found the motel on TripAdvisor and kind of went in blind, but it turned out to be a pleasant experience! We rented two adjoining rooms on the second floor to accommodate the eight girls in our party. Each room had a large bedroom with a king sized bed as well as a nice sleeper sofa (that was surprisingly pretty comfortable). We were generally impressed with how spacious each room was. Each suite had a large kitchen with a stove, full sized fridge, and even a tiny dishwasher! The real draw of Surf Suites, in my opinion, is the beautiful views off the back balcony. Each room has its own balcony right on the water with sliding glass doors that you can open to let the ocean breeze sweep through your suite. We enjoyed sitting on our balconies in the morning while we ate our breakfast. It's also great that you have access to the beach when staying at Surf Suites. You can walk right down the boardwalk extending out of the back of the motel and you're on the beach in seconds. Overall, we felt that the Surf Suites perfectly suited our needs. I have to say that our room was not as clean as I would have liked: the floors were the dirtiest part, as there was a lot of residual sand on the floor from past residents. However, for the price and for the fact that we only stayed for one night, we were happy with the experience! read more

Stayed here for the first time this past weekend with my family and we loved it! Rates are low til the spring so it's a great deal for an oceanfront suite if you can go down on a warm winter weekend. The off-season rates are the same as a couple of other Wrightsville Beach hotels that aren't oceanfront so it was a no brainer for us. The pros - good rates off-season for beautiful oceanfront suites with private patios and amazing views, really enjoyed the separate bedroom and kitchenette - it's on the South side of Wrightsville Beach so it's quieter with less traffic than the North End - friendly staff - very clean room - quiet- although there was no vacancy when we stayed, we didn't hear any neighbors at all Only a few small complaints: - water pressure was pretty low & shower made a strange whistling noise after a few minutes - on the patio, the track for the hurricane shutters is a bit of a trip hazard, especially with a toddler - the elevator was a little noisy & shaky, slightly unnerving Overall though, we really enjoyed our stay at Surf Suites and will definitely be back! read more

We LOVED our stay at Surf Suites! It was about the only place we could find to stay beginning on a weekday. We rented 2 adjoining suites with other family members. They were cleaned each day, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was fully-stocked including paper towels and dishwashing powder, and the location could NOT have been better. I reserved three nights starting Thursday and I was charged $252 as a security deposit. When I got there they charged me for the other two nights Friday and Saturday but $603. I cancelled my last day because it was raining and the woman said she would refund me in the morning because they had already taken all the money in the office. When I went back the next day the guy working said they don't refund money. I got scammed out of 50 dollars. :( read more

This Hotel is very good for the price. It has a full kitchen and is right on the beach next to the nicest restaurant in Wrightsville Beach. The is hardly anyone on the beach compared to many other beaches I have been to. The workers there are kind and very helpful. This place also has a pool. I don't trust the elevator though. haha. Have a soft spot for animals? How about a soul? Then avoid Surf Suites at all costs. Wrightsville Beach is a small, sleepy little town, especially at this time of year, and it's hard not to see and hear everything that happens around you. Last night, I happened to see another guest of the Surf Suites check in, lock his dog in a car, and promptly retreat to his room for the night. When I saw that the windows of the car were completely closed, I called the front desk to report the guest. Despite their claim that the staff is "renowned for their friendliness and service," the half-asleep man who answered could not have possibly cared less. Yes, it was late, but at the rates Surf Suites charges, I would hope they can afford an overnight representative capable of assisting customers. The man did absolutely nothing, and actually told me that, while pets are not allowed *in* rooms, they don't have a policy on keeping animals in parked cars, even if the conditions are unsafe, and wouldn't do anything. I was dumbfounded by his attitude and sheer complacency/lack of concern for the issue. If you can't even feign compassion or guest service in this situation, on-premise animal cruelty is, at the very least, a liability that should have been addressed by the hotel. I'm fully aware that Surf Suites does not allow pets in the rooms, but that should not translate into utter disregard for the life of an animal being neglected on their premises. read more

This place was appalling. We arrived during hurricane Arthur and they told me i did not have a reservation there and sent me to a hotel 20 minutes away. When i returned 45 minutes later and wet and annoyed mark found my reservation, apologized briefly, and gave me the room key. My boyfriend and I began cooking dinner around 6:30 and were told to keep it down when the only noise was the wind blowing and knocking the balcony covering around. The clerk was watching witches of east end on the computer and told me without checking the computer that there was no other room he could put me in on Fourth of July weekend and he was sorry but there was nothing he could do about the broken toilet seat. He then informs me we are stuck on the island because the bridge was closed due to the storm. This morning we got a call from the front desk asking us to move the car. They then lectured my boyfriend about not having a parking pass, which mark failed to mention, he came back from the office and said i had to go talk to them because it was my car. I go down there and i get lectured in front of 3 people by the manager about giving away a parking pass which i never got in the first place, and that my name was now on a list and that their policy was not to issue guests 2nd parking passes when there was no record on the first one. I went upstairs and told my boyfriend and he went with me to the office where he insisted we get a parking pass so we would not be towed or reprimanded about it again. They insisted that we were given a parking pass and that we would not be towed but rather on their "watch" list for people who were verified guests but under suspicion of parking pass shenanigans. I asked for a refund and got one after 45 minutes along with a backhanded apology explaining that she could not understand why i wanted to leave at that point since she could not understand how i could feel like i was mistreated and that she was sorry i had communication issues. I told her that I would be staying at the holiday inn the next time I visit Wrightsville beach because its a lot nicer and they treat the customers with respect there and dont go out of their way to embarass the customer read more

Nothing fancy, but if you're looking for an affordable location right on the beach, free wifi, clean, safe lodging, a full mini-kitchen, and the Wrightsville Beach experience, this is where you want to go. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating. You can hear and see the ocean from your unit. Screen doors allow the option of hearing ocean waves from inside your unit. Eat a meal out or save money by eating in your room. I brought a casserole from home and cooked it one night for great cost savings. You can rent bikes close by and bike through Wrightsville Beach. Much nicer pool for the establishment than I would have thought. I have stayed here twice now and had a good experience both times. read more

Do not believe the "full kitchen amenities -- if you want to use the kitchen to cook a meal, you will need to bring nearly everything you need with you. Surf Suites has been our long time favorite due to being right on the best beach. An apartment for a nightly rate. It gets better every visit. Super clean and upscale furniture even king size bed. If I could choose a more negative review than one star, it wouldn't be enough to describe my terrible experience this "motel" had provided for myself and family. We were asked to leave because of our service animals, one being medical for our diabetic and the other being for PTSD. The so called manager or possibly owner who was just a joy to deal with right from the start, stating she was doing us a favor after we paid $280 for a $32 room. I've stayed in better hole in the walls when I was overseas. Got a queen room with queen pull out couch, she began with "three people are too many for the room" then started about the two 9lb and 11lb jacketed, trained, certified, registered, and tagged service dogs. Proceeded by trolling us from the ocean and stating she's received MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS about the dogs barking and "scratching her door" we proceeded to walk upstairs to our silent room. Ok where's the noise and barking? She knocks on the door and says "see?" Yeah you knocked, as they're trained to indicated someone at the door and our "do not disturb sign. Then tells us we have to leave immediately and no time to pack because "her maid is leaving for the day and will not wait" congratulations as you kicked a service animal out, (illegal) a US Veteran, and a father on his birthday.
