This is a great place to picnic, do outdoor activities and walk your dog. On this side of the park, you'll find 6 baseball diamonds, a 15-court tennis center, 2 basketball courts, a skateboard park, a disc golf course, soccer fields, a golf course, a community center and a newly renovated duck pond. I've been waiting years for the duck pond to be complete and I like what they've done. You can finally walk all around it and it is so peaceful. The area is teeming with ducks, geese, seagulls, coots, and other birds. There are even turtles in the pond.

The park is easy to get to. you just take the exit, turn right, and there's a parking lot right there. The parking costs $8, but be warned! there's no cash accepted. Make sure to have a credit or debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay ready, because the line was pretty slow when I went, and it took almost 10 minutes just to get into the park. Once inside, I was impressed by how beautiful the park was! April was a fantastic time to visit. The grass was lush and green, and the whole atmosphere was really relaxing. I'm not sure if it stays this way year-round, but in April, it was really pristine. I loved how there are special areas for parties. you can reserve them online and they also have spots for grilling and even pitching your own tent. However, I was a bit disappointed with the bathroom situation. For $8 parking, the restrooms were really dirty. I also noticed a few homeless individuals wandering around, and one person was using the restroom for a very long time, which made it even more unpleasant. The city or management really needs to step up if you're charging for parking, you need to ensure better services, like cleaner restrooms or even some water fountains. On the bright side, the kids' playground was really nice, and the park overall felt clean, especially along the trails. I loved that you can bring a bike or rent one, and the trail was perfect for a relaxing ride. So, big shoutout to the staff and management for keeping the park clean overall, but please, if you're charging for parking, improve the bathroom facilities. I'd definitely come back for the scenery, but I hope the logistics get better!

Warmer water, no waves, a perfect place to learn how to use most any type of SUP, and it's just a welcoming atmosphere overall. Today the water was nice and clean, but because it is in the bay the water quality can change depending as it's not flowing like a regular beach. The sand is also kinda different and sticky here, I'm sure it's brought in from around the corner, but it just seems kinda different here. Also, it's LB so be prepared to fight for your life for parking depending on the day and time. In all though it's a nice hidden gem. :)

If the swings were considered unsafe, why were they removed instead of repaired or replaced with new ones? At the same time, there are still loose or missing bolts on some play features and open gaps on the elevated structures where a child could potentially fall. If safety is truly the priority, why were those issues left unaddressed? Now the playground offers much less for young children. Kids can't spend the whole time using only the slides. The swings were one of the best parts of this playground, and many local families came here specifically because of them. Please explain why the swings were removed and consider bringing them back. This playground was never truly renovated--it feels like the only major change was taking the swings away.

The trails are clean, mostly shaded and easy to follow. There's a short 1/4-mile loop if you just want a quick stroll, plus a 1-mile loop that can turn into about a 2-mile walk if you keep going and loop back around. There is one incline area, but it's short and not too bad. Plenty of benches are scattered throughout too, which makes it great for slower walks or taking breaks. The park itself has a really pleasant nature feel. You'll see squirrels, turtles, birds and other little wildlife moments along the way. The turtle dock is always fun to spot and the shaded paths make the whole walk feel relaxing instead of draining. Most people on the trails are friendly too, so the vibe is usually calm and welcoming. The Nature Center trails themselves are free if you walk or bike in, but there is a vehicle fee if you park in the Nature Center/East Regional Park lot. Parking is currently $6 on weekdays, $7 on Fridays, $8 on weekends and $9 on holidays. The entry booth is cashless, so bring a card or use a digital payment option. Parking can look packed at times, but I've always been able to find a spot. They also offer annual parking passes, including discounted ones for seniors 50+, disabled visitors and veterans, so it's worth asking at the Nature Center Visitors Center if you plan to come often. The office area has restrooms and some nice little nature/informational displays, which is a cool bonus if you're there with family or just want to look around. There's also El Dorado Park West across the street, which I've checked out a few times and didn't have to pay for parking on that side. It's a separate park area with sports fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, basketball, tennis and a skate park. I haven't explored every part of it, but it's good to know about if you're already in the area or want a free nearby option. Overall, I'd definitely recommend El Dorado Park if you want a clean, shaded and relaxing place to walk. The Nature Centre comprises of 105 acres in the East Regional portion, and has 2 miles of dirt trails and 1/4 mile paved trail with an indoor visitor center (located on an island near the entrance). My wife, her mom, and I visited on a beautiful Thursday afternoon and we really enjoyed it. The land prior to 1964 was used as flat farmland. In the late 60's, major excavation was done, creating two small ponds connected by a stream, all fed by a groundwater well. It now is the home to varied wildlife, with the most visible being turtles. They love to sun themselves on wooden floating platforms, and the water is clear enough to see them swimming underwater near the walking path bridges. There are three walking trails: 1. quarter mile paved loop, good for strollers 2. 1 mile dirt loop 3. a longer 2 mile loop, sharing some parts of the previous. Everything is well maintained. Three things I appreciated: not too many ducks and geese around, thus no visible droppings along the path; plenty of varied bench seating to rest or observe during the walk; lack of biting insects. The center is open 6 days a week (closed on Mondays). Admission to the center is free, but parking is $6 - $8 per vehicle, payable at entry (credit cards only, no cash accepted). One can buy an annual parking pass (good at both El Dorado East and West parking areas). To incentivize myself to come here more often, decided to buy one for $43 (senior discount), minus the $7 already paid for the one time fee.

At virtually all other pickleball parks I've been to, you're free to dine & drink at the courts. 7/2025: + Pleasant place for a family & friends picnic. + Of the four tennis courts here, one has been converted into four permanent nice pickleball courts, - but without shade for spectators. - Courts are free to play, but reserving is an option. There didn't seem to be anyone patrolling to verify reservations though. + Restrooms and water fountain right by the courts. - Restroom doesn't have paper towels. + Free street parking. The nearest is on Hedwig Rd. - No parking lot.
