I enjoy walking here. The parking is super easy and it's free. Not too crowded on weekdays and a lot of super friendly ducks, turtles, and seagulls. You can easily walk three to four times around the pond without knowing it because you'll be distracted by the animals around you. The only complain I have is that the walkway is full of animal feces. Clearly lots of personal pet owners doesn't pick up after their pets because it's everywhere. There should be more people who should enforce this. It's already bad enough that the ducks and seagulls contribute to this problem but pet owners not picking up after their pets will make this park dirty. read more

I love this park, it has anything and everything you'd ever want in one place Instead of giving an essay, allow me to be lazy and list. THANK YOU. 1.Archery 2.nature center/nature hike 3.paved bicycle trail 4.Campground for youth groups 5.Stocked Fishing lakes 6.Model aircraft flying area (no drones) 7. Model sailboat area 8. train rides 9. Fitness courses 10. picnic areas 11. Tennis 12. Frisbee course and etc!!!! There is also an animal shelter located near the nature hike/trails. It is a fairly new shelter and seems to have a lot of animal rescue trailers. The archery is cool and anyone can come to use if you go early enough on the weekends and sign up (I believe rentals are included). I walk by the tennis courts a lot and it might be that it is a private, members only, court. Though don't quote me on this. Also on weekends I see a lot of frisbee fanatics going at it from station to station. It's amazing how accurate they are and shoot it straight or bounce it off of trees! SOFTBALL FIELD REVIEW. El Dorado Park softball fields have come a long way. We've been playing here for years (about 6-7 years) with Team CBP, Masterbatters, Let It Rain to the Enforcers. El Do has always had pretty good softball fields year in and year out. Sometimes the GOPHERS run a muck and dig up the outfields, but when the city takes care of the problem, the grass isn't that bad. When they cut the grass, you'll find pretty good and clean OFs with almost true ground ball hops. The infields are usually pretty hard though. The 245 ft fence is ok. A bit short so all the heavy hitters try and aim it out (1 up single rule applies in the LB league). Lots of parking (and ok to park on the grass if needed). Concession stand open when the little leaguers are in season. Compared to Cherry Park or the fields in Los Al...El Do Park deserves a pretty good rating! Thanks to the pretty new adult softball coordinator too. He listens to the teams when there is a problem at the field and he is making the the LB softball league better. read more

Best park near by my home area Their park is pretty huge and has great hiking trail and camping area. This park is free but it has hidden fee which is parking fee. And parking fee is different between weekdays, weekend, and holidays. read more

One of my favorite parks. It has a lovely nature center that makes you feel miles away from the city. I grew up using it so much I feel like I know it like the back of my hand and now I take my baby there and am creating new memories. The actual park is quiet and has pretty trails and ponds and you can rent bikes. read more

TREECYCLING: A LONG BEACH TRADITION It's that time of year again. Time to treecycle your Christmas tree at the FREE treecycling locations. I dropped off my little tree yesterday at El Dorado Park's Tree Drop off location over on 2760-2800 Studebaker. It was easy. I just drove into the south parking lot behind the administration building and followed the Treecycling signs. The pile of trees in the parking lot was a dead give away on where to go. The City of Long Beach is providing this free service until January 8th. Cut trees are easy to recycle in Long Beach. Huge beautiful park! Loved all the nice shady trees. I came here for the UYE Softball tournament. The benches are clean and sturdy, the dugout was also well maintained. There is a skate park here as well and was very busy with many skaters and bikers young and old. From looking around, this park has it all! Along with the softball fields and skate park they also have soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic areas, community center, playgrounds and much more. Not sure how the bathrooms are, but from what I seen on how overall well maintained the park is, I would guess they are also clean and safe. We had a great time at this park. read more

I usually play pick up hockey at this park due to the fact that they have a mini fenced in roller hockey rink, right next to the basketball court. They just added a new skate park, they have a bunch of baseball fields, and tennis courts as well. They just redid the grotto in the front entrance to the courts/skate park, and now all the trees have lights in the front, and it looks like Xmas at night time. Really nice. Been coming here for the past 11 years, and i can honestly say, the roller hockey rink here, since its free, is probably the best one around for pickup hockey. The lights stay on till 10pm. Usually only problems I ever witnessed here is the kids at the skate park smoking pot. Otherwise, hey, to each his own. read more

This park is a great place to go for a walk with your dog and or with your friend or significant other. My fiance and I like to come here to walk with our dogs and just sit back and enjoy the scenery. There are plenty of nice big shady trees and plenty of grass to sit on. You can tell that the city of Long Beach keeps this park well maintained (both sides of El Dorado Park). There is a nice big softball/ baseball field here which always seems to be a game playing every time we go. There is also some tennis courts here and a playground for kids to play. There are other great things here so a great place to bring the family. So a perfect place to go for an afternoon of nothingness and relaxation. read more

One of the best parks in the Long Beach area. Plenty of open area, multiple baseball diamonds, soccer pitches, picnic areas, tennis courts, gold course, a lake, nature walk...El Dorado Park is HUGE!!! One of my favorites as it really gets people outdoors and that's great! Haven't even explored the whole park yet but they have some really great biking trails that lead you all over. I frequent the baseball diamonds a lot and love playing on the field as its not full of holes out there. There a lot of street parking and I'm almost certain parking on campus is free they don't charge you a fee (could be wrong...) Great place to have a Saturday bbq!!!! read more

God I am SO DONE with this park! The ducks and geese are fun but this place is DISGUSTING for so many reasons. 1. So so many injured birds. FYI, there's a canadian goose with a thin string slowly being strangled to death as we speak. His neck is swollen and it sucks! 2. Smelly filthy water/terrible filtration. Seriously I was thinking of getting a pool skimmer and cleaning it myself. I'm embarrassed to take anyone here. Does the city need more funding for equipment? I'll pay it! 3. As a huge fan of El Dorado park and am there 3 days a week the city really needs to fix the pumps that help move and clean the water in the lakes as the water is horrible looking dark green and smells bad on certain days. They have from what I understand 4 pumps I know 3 for sure and only a small one in the very back works sometimes. If anyone has ever gone the biggest and main pump on the boat lake by the back bridge hasn't run in many years as the City of Long Beach refuses to spend money on to get it fixed and rumor has it the pump needs bearings to run correct. I hope the new people running the parks can find a way to get this fixed or will they wait until people get sick? read more

The facility is awesome, however, consumer friendly ... Not so much. I bought an Annual pass for $60 to use the dog park. Basically, for the convenience of parking when time is of an essence. My pass was in hubby's car while on work trip for a few days and asked for a temporary. They wanted to charge me $25! There response, "have him mail it to you." Maybe I miscommunicated so I explained again. Not willing to work with me in the slightest. I was terribly disappointed. Typical City nonsense. It's a shame. read more

Nice park, aside from all the friggen geese, it's a perfect place to hang out, spend an afternoon with the kiddos, or have a baby birthday part if you're into that kind of thing. I was there on a non particularly busy weekend, so parking was plentiful, it was not too crowded and the picnic areas were plentiful and clean and tidy. Grounds seem well kept. Small groups can just show up and stake out a spot, larger groups can get a permit and reserve certain picnic areas. read more

I love this duck pond. It's beautiful with lots of picnic benches. I've had 2/3 of my daughters bday parties here and I will probably continue to have more. They have gazebo areas near the play ground that are first come first serve, so I recommend trying to reserve your spot around 5am. Also, plenty of room for bounce houses. Permit required. If you're ever bored, I suggest just strolling around the pond, it's relaxing and I love ducks. :D read more

We watch our granddaughter play softball here. It seems to be a pretty large park, (someone told me there were two or three sections to it?) And it's clean, busy, and has a variety of areas for activity. Near the ballpark we frequent, there's a playground and tennis courts. The other weekend, we saw roller derby teams forming up for play or practice on the tennis courts. (Nets down, of course! :-) ) Pretty cool - multi-purpose areas. If I were a kid, I'd love coming here. read more

Came in this holiday weekend to ride my bike saddened to find they wanted to charge me $8 to park (they wanted to make money on this holiday weekend). I declined and parked about 1/2 mile away in the neighborhood and rode in. In reality I think they should have just charge $10 - then they would not have needed to make change! We went here for the dog park and ended up exploring. It's HUGE and very well taken care off. It'll take you a few hours to enjoy the peaceful scenery. We had to drive around to check out the whole different sections. It's definitely a hidden gem in the middle of the LA-LB urban sprawl. I would definitely go back here if I want to get away and de stress. Next time we will come back and check out the nature reserve. read more

The dinners they put on outside under the big white tent once a month are amazing. Priced insanely well and the food is much, much better than you would expect. You are looking out onto the putting green under the tent. Choice of soup or salad. Choice of 2 or 3 entrees, all two steps above good. Then a nice dessert. Each couple is given a full bottle of wine. For all of that it is $39.95 per couple. Amazing. Live entertainment too. This park is huge and probably the best in the area. It's a great place to go for a picnic or to play some sports. The birds here (ducks, geese, etc.) are a little out of hand at times and can really bother you. You have to sit really far away from the pond to effectively avoid them. All around though, going to this park is a fun free activity to do. read more

Does this part include the duck pond. Because I'm only rating the duck pond. Seagulls ruin everything. When you want to feed some ducks or swans in tranquility, seagulls come barging in and poach all the good pieces of food. Then you want to throw things at the seagulls and end up throwing the food you brought. That's how they trick you into feeding them more. I wish I could bring my bb gun to shoot all those seagulls.
