On Jan 20th 2026, I contacted Lanham Smiles to schedule a deep cleaning appointment. During the…read morecall, I politely asked if they could verify my insurance coverage before scheduling. Immediately, the receptionist responded with noticeable attitude and a rude tone. She asked whether I was already a patient; I stated that I was not and wished to verify my insurance. At that point, she raised her voice and demanded to know the "state" of my insurance. I told her I was not certain but could provide my member ID, as every other medical or dental office I've visited has always been willing to verify coverage this way. Instead of assisting, she yelled at me, stating it was not her job to check insurance, and insisted I call Delta Dental myself and then call them back. Despite her rudeness, I did exactly that -- I called my insurance, confirmed the required information, and attempted to call the office back. What followed was even more unprofessional: the receptionist declined five of my calls in a row. She finally called me back only to inform me that she and the doctor had decided they would not accept me as a patient at all. I was shocked and confused. When I expressed that this seemed personal and unprofessional, she abruptly hung up. I attempted to call 14 more times, all of which were declined. At that point, I drove to the office in a final attempt to schedule an appointment in person. Unfortunately, the same receptionist was present. The moment I mentioned that I had been calling, she became enraged and yelled, "I TOLD YOU WE WILL NOT ACCEPT YOU HERE." When I calmly asked to speak with someone else, she continued yelling and, unbelievably, decided to call the police on me -- simply for trying to verify coverage and schedule a dental appointment. Calling the police on a new patient attempting to receive care is not only unprofessional, but completely inappropriate, unnecessary, and alarming. No patient should ever be treated this way. Afterward, I checked Yelp and discovered that a similar incident was reported about a year ago, indicating a pattern of unacceptable behavior at this office.

I've been coming here since 2017 and have nothing but positive experiences each visit. From the fabulous front desk women, down to Dr. Nguyen she knows her profession, and always answers any questions and concerns regarding my teeth. I was so impressed by this place that it was my sons first dentist that he absolutely loves as well, and may I add how impressed I was when I was asked how my son was doing which surprised me that she the ( fierce bald headed front desk woman) would even remember her clients so well because I had moved away from the area but still telecommute to work in the area 3 times a week, so I was impressed and felt as if I was more that just a customer.

I really wanted to love Glow Smiles after seeing all the great reviews and social media posts…read more Growing up, we did not have enough to afford ortho work so I was excited to finally start my journey after saving for YEARS to finally have a confident smile. I've gone to multiple consultations with different orthodontic offices around the DMV finding prices so I'm very familiar with how these consultations usually go. I also spent a lot of time looking through their before and afters and felt like I could relate to some of the cases, which made me feel confident I'd be a good candidate. Unfortunately, that didn't end up being the case. What isn't clearly explained is that they mainly handle minor cases, not more complex ones. I have a crossbite, edge to edge bite, and short roots on only the front 2 teeth, so I understand my case isn't simple, but that limitation should be made clear upfront. I took a day off work for the first time in over a year and drove an hour to get there. Dr. Reza was very kind and professional, but some of the staff came off a bit short and distant. It was busy, which I understand, but the overall experience felt rushed. Another thing that stood out to me was during the x-rays, I wasn't asked to remove any jewelry or given a protective vest, which felt dangerous and honestly a bit unprofessional considering I was right in front of an x-ray machine (twice.) I was told my only option with them was to only fix my front six teeth, not my full bite or molars. I seriously considered it especially when I asked if that would significantly reduce the cost, Dr. Reza said yes. However, when I sat down for pricing, it ended up being even higher than what's advertised online, just to treat those six teeth. The teeth whitening surcharge cannot be taken off confirmed by the consultant. But I did love that there is a lifetime warranty for $25 for a loss or broken retainer after the retainer program is paid for (adding $500-600) to the bill. I even asked if pricing was based on each individual case, and I was told no, that the pricing is set based on what's on their papers. That didn't really sit right with me, especially after being told it would be reduced + what's online. When I asked if I could speak with the Dr.Reza again to the pricing consultant after he stepped out, I wasn't able to since he was across the room. So I feel like some of my questions were left unanswered and felt lost in my journey again. If you have anything beyond a minor case. I would honestly steer away and look into other options. This seems better suited for simple, easier cases. They need more transparency about what they can actually treat and more consistency. Edit: I also requested my X rays after my consultation, which I usually do at other orthodontic offices, and was told there is a $25 charge for them. I've never been charged for this elsewhere so that felt a bit off. I told the lady I wasn't going to argue about it, but it just added to my overall experience.
