Absolutely great experience! Needed an emergency visit and my regular Dental Office (Vibrant Smiles) could only accommodate new patients. So, I went online looking for a Dentist who cared and found Dr. Dexter McRae. Dr. Dexter McRae, his Dental Assistant and their Front Office Staff are great. The Office is extremely clean and it is obvious that they care about their patients. They are highly skilled and use the very latest in technology. He replaced a filling that had fallen out so quickly and with absolutely no pain that I decided that he had to now be my new Dentist. Highly recommended! read more

I do NOT fear or hate going to the dentist anymore. Dr. Cheryl Terrell has 97% cured me of this. How did I get here? The DJ on Majic 102.3 (Cortney Hicks) told me about this dentist. On air, Ms. Hicks talked about the smile she had and how people on the street stop her to say how great it is. Well! People used to tell me the same thing before I broke a tooth. So I just HAD to at least find out what Dr. Terrell could do for me. Yeah. Um-hm. You read that right. I was walking around looking like a hillbilly with this broken side tooth. But it won't be that way much longer. And even though I would rather be trapped in a locked basement with 14 screaming kindergartners and 13 barking puppies than go to the dentist, I went. Yep. I called, made an appointment for a cleaning/consultation, and got the ball rolling. Following the cleaning/consultation, I realized I was in for some real drilling here. I thought about it and fretted about it and then one day while I was sitting in a class my office sent me to, I pulled out my trusty pad & paper and wrote Dr. Terrell a note about the issues. She listened to my concerns and took me seriously. On drill day #1, staff welcomed me in, made me feel comfortable (blanket & iPod), and got to work. Tino, the most professional top-notch assistant ever took impressions and simultaneously informed other assistants about things at their stations. Talk about impressed. Dr. Terrell stopped in with greetings and that alone was enough to start the calming effect. When she returned (with the white jacket, you know) she continued the calming by numbing. Mmmmm. That's good stuff, Dr. :-) Really, the rest is history. I mean truly, in my heart, I thought I was going to have to jump up out of that chair and run out screaming and crying. Not the case at all. In fact, it was over before I knew it. Although I will be returning for several visits to accomplish everything I want, I am sure the thought of running away will be far from my mind. Oh, and the 3% of fear that isn't cured, well 1% each: at one point during the procedure, I smelled something burning (kind of scary); at another point during the procedure I tasted something acidic; and checkout (man, the federal dental insurance dogs you out!). I called to reschedule my dentist appointment and I'm being told I have to pay a cancellation fee of $50. I told her I'm not canceling anything and I'm rescheduling my appointment. She said I need to give a 24-hour notice and I said how when your office was closed the day before on a Sunday. She said I still had to pay a $50 cancellation fee. I told her good luck because that's not the only dentist's office in this area. They harass me for months to make an appointment and I now trying to milk me. read more

Had an appointment at 3:30 but due to traffic I called the office to let them know i was going to be late. I was told that there is a 15 min grace period in which i pulled up and parked 2 mins before the grace period was up. When I signed in it was exactly 3:45. The girl at the front desk then proceeds to tell me the person can do the exam and not the cleaning because its past the grace period. I told her when I signed in it was exactly 3:45 so it wasn't past anything. It is now 4:09pm and i am still sitting here. This is the first time this has happened and no accommodation has yet to be made especially with me being pregnant. I got off of work earlier to come now they acting as if i have to reschedule. Decent dentists but bad customer service. I reached out to the office a couple of times by email and telephone to settle a dispute about a rescheduling fee. Basically I have rescheduled appointments numerous times in the past and was never charged a fee. To add insult to injury, I didn't receive any response - no auto reply email or any call back to acknowledge my concern. This is bad for business. I am no longer paying my hard earned money to businesses that treat me poorly. Just to think after I moved, I travelled over 40 miles to this practice so that my kids would have the same dentist. All that effort on my part and in return poor customer service. I really think it is the front desk/admin staff that is the bad seed; however the dentists own the practice and are responsible for this behavior. I have left them messages as well. They should definitely be aware of what is going on in their practice especially when it results in patients firing them and moving their business elsewhere. read more

As good as it gets for sure! I am not a consistent Yelper, but I had to make time to review this place. I have been looking for a dentist that I am comfortable with for about two years now after our old dentist stop accepting our insurance. Basically jumping from dentist to dentist. Today i went to check out Lake Arbor after hearing and reading so many great reviews. My daughter had a cracked tooth after a nasty fall. Dr McCrae was so great with her (she is very talkative and inquisitive) and fixed her tooth quickly! I've been following Dr. McRae for almost 20 years. He's an outstanding dentist who knows his stuff. He's very committed to providing quality dental care and will let you know if there's a procedure he's not comfortable doing for any reason. I like that Dr. McRae takes the fear away from going to the dentist by explaining his procedures step by step. I had a tooth that cracked down the middle days before leaving for my wedding. He came into the office on an off day to remove the tooth. I had a great deal of anxiety about having it removed because it was already causing so much pain and I thought trying to remove it would cause it to break more and get stuck. I think he had the tooth out in about 2 minutes, without issue. I feel VERY comfortable with him and wouldn't trust any other dentist. Professional staff and knowledgeable docs. read more

I want to say that I loved going to Lake Arbor dental associates but I just can't. While the service I received was OK, the real problem is the billing. When you go in you're told what your services will cost after insurance coverage. What you are not informed of is the fact that these are only estimates you were being provided so even if you pay the full amount they request at the desk, there is still a chance that you could be billed after the insurance payment. Case in point, I went in for a cleaning and then followed up with a deep cleaning for two teeth. The cleaning I was told would be covered, the deep cleaning I paid nearly $200 out of pocket for. Ok, fine. Next thing I know, I'm getting a bill for $150 in the mail. Why you ask? Because apparently my insurance did not cover something despite Lake Arbor dental associates stating that they contacted by insurance and the services would be covered. So, I give the office a ring to find out what was not covered and guess what...they had no idea. That's right, they sent me a bill for $150 plus and they had no clue what they were billing me for. And, they're closed tomorrow so someone will get back to me on Monday, three days after the due date on the bill. I try hard to support black businesses, really I do but they have to get their administrative sector together. I say go for it if you're thinking of using them but be aware that they are only giving you an estimate for services and have no issue sending you a huge bill if their estimate is off. read more

Good family dentistry, but be prepared for a large bill if you need anything other than a cleaning. I may have to find another dentist. I've only been once for a cleaning and was very pleased. My daughter had to return for two filling replacements. On that date I paid $237 and insurance paid $246 and I just got a bill in the mail for an additional $140. That's high. I went to Dr. McRae for a wisdom tooth extraction. I was in so much pain and Dr. McRae and his office somehow found a space to fit me in the day that I called. The procedure was fast and painless. Dr. McRae was not only professional, he was caring and considerate. He kept me informed throughout the procedure and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Beware of Billing issues. They will milk you for ever dime. Quick and short. After my insurance paid, and I paid an initial fee on-site that I was quoted thus I was supposed to be done with billing. However I received a bill 6 months later and when I called to discuss SHE had an attitude and claim the fee is "like going to the emergency room". That was her explanation, Again I was there is person and could of paid any fee on the spot in her office. She claim I sign paperwork indicating the fee however when I ask her to send me the paperwork to validate the signature she failed to send the alleged sign paperwork. It's amazing to me that 6 months after visiting the dentist I receive a bill with tact on charges and their only professional explanation for the fee is "like going to the emergency room". My family and I have been going to LADA for over 10 years now. My children will never fear the dentist because Dr. McRae has always been a great dentist to them. He did a wonderful job on the cap on my front tooth so much so that no one can tell I have one. This has brought my smile back to looking beautiful again. Dr. McRae did a root canal for me yesterday. I usually hate the dentist. I was a little late but was taken right away. The root canal was confirmed and the price and method of payment were clearly discussed. Dr. McRae was good at explaining exactly what was going to happen before and DURING the procedure. 3 hours later ( and I was never sitting in that chair with my mouth open while he did something else) I left the office with the root canal done and a temporary crown in place. All hot and cold pain was gone!! I could even eat later that evening. This was a great visit and I will go back for some other work I have to have done. I'm not sure about the other dentists working there, but Dr. McRae is excellent!! read more

One thing I can't stand is tardiness. Why do I make the very first appointment at 8:30 am only to be waiting? First off, I arrive promptly at 8:30 am only to find the office doors locked. The receptionist finally opens the doors at 8:35 am and greets me warmly (No apology though.). I am only in the waiting area for about 5 minutes when Johnny comes to take me to the back. This is a good sign, but it is misleading because after he takes me to the back, preps me and tells me that Dr. McRae will be in shortly, I'm left waiting for another 20 minutes. No one comes in to check on me. No one comes in to tell me Dr. McRae is running behind. Nothing. Finally Dr. McCrae waltzes in all smiles. He doesn't apologize for his tardiness, which infuriates me! I understand that you can get behind schedule, but I expect that later in the day, which is exactly why I scheduled my appointment for the first of the morning. Then to top it off, after he gave me anesthesia and said it needed about 3-4 minutes to kick in, he left and didn't return for 20 minutes! I had to use the ladies room and when I got up, I saw him working on another patient. So I guess that's my answer. He overbooked and was juggling between patients. I have no complaints about his services because he did a fine job but his tardiness has happened on more than one occasion. Completely unacceptable! read more
