On Jan 20th 2026, I contacted Lanham Smiles to schedule a deep cleaning appointment. During the call, I politely asked if they could verify my insurance coverage before scheduling. Immediately, the receptionist responded with noticeable attitude and a rude tone. She asked whether I was already a patient; I stated that I was not and wished to verify my insurance. At that point, she raised her voice and demanded to know the "state" of my insurance. I told her I was not certain but could provide my member ID, as every other medical or dental office I've visited has always been willing to verify coverage this way. Instead of assisting, she yelled at me, stating it was not her job to check insurance, and insisted I call Delta Dental myself and then call them back. Despite her rudeness, I did exactly that -- I called my insurance, confirmed the required information, and attempted to call the office back. What followed was even more unprofessional: the receptionist declined five of my calls in a row. She finally called me back only to inform me that she and the doctor had decided they would not accept me as a patient at all. I was shocked and confused. When I expressed that this seemed personal and unprofessional, she abruptly hung up. I attempted to call 14 more times, all of which were declined. At that point, I drove to the office in a final attempt to schedule an appointment in person. Unfortunately, the same receptionist was present. The moment I mentioned that I had been calling, she became enraged and yelled, "I TOLD YOU WE WILL NOT ACCEPT YOU HERE." When I calmly asked to speak with someone else, she continued yelling and, unbelievably, decided to call the police on me -- simply for trying to verify coverage and schedule a dental appointment. Calling the police on a new patient attempting to receive care is not only unprofessional, but completely inappropriate, unnecessary, and alarming. No patient should ever be treated this way. Afterward, I checked Yelp and discovered that a similar incident was reported about a year ago, indicating a pattern of unacceptable behavior at this office. read more

I had a scheduled teeth cleaning appointment today, Millie did my teeth cleaning and she was the best. I've been coming here since 2017 and have nothing but positive experiences each visit. From the fabulous front desk women, down to Dr. Nguyen she knows her profession, and always answers any questions and concerns regarding my teeth. I was so impressed by this place that it was my sons first dentist that he absolutely loves as well, and may I add how impressed I was when I was asked how my son was doing which surprised me that she the ( fierce bald headed front desk woman) would even remember her clients so well because I had moved away from the area but still telecommute to work in the area 3 times a week, so I was impressed and felt as if I was more that just a customer. read more

This place and Dr. Nguyen is a scam. I'm a self paying patient and they took my money and did no proper work on my mouth. I am about to pay for the same work I got done last year all over again because the work was not done right. Yes, thousands out of pocket again. The choices for dental providers in this area are dismal. Dr Nguyen was the only better looking choice on my insurance provider list for miles around. I was pleased to come to google and find good reviews. I was exec happier when I started seeing her and her work first hand. She's a very good dentist But her staff...that's another story. Apparently the front desk staff wasn't invoicing us properly for services. We never got a bill for a service and when my hubby went to pick up the product no one collected payment (a treatment plan wasn't signed for this particular custom dental product) I figured they would bill us when they figured out what the patient portion was. Fast forward to a month later, an accounts/billing specialist calls me day of my dental procedure appt and is aggressively asking for full price payment for the other device and demanding to know how we got the product without paying Going as far to suggest I could not be seen for a prepaid service i had scheduled that day unless I pay the full price for the other dental product. I explained her employees didnt collect and that is not my fault but I do not have $1200 She was seeking She was soooo rude and pushy on the phone. I felt strong armed. It was almost like being pressured by a used car salesman. I hung up and my hubby heard our heated exchange on the phone and we rolled up on that mug. He did not like the way she was talking to me Soo we get to the office and there she is with a smug patronizing look on her face holding firm to the belief that I'm unwilling to pay and how did I get the dental appliance without paying. It wasn't that I'm un willing to pay it was the staff YOU said no longer works there who did not do what they were supposed to do After hubby acts as a mediator it Turns out my patient responsibility according to my insurance was only $308 not $1200 and insurance did not deny the claim they needed more information. Listen sister to sister I know it's hard out here in these streets being called aggressive or an angry back woman is not fun but I'm going to give you some advice I got on my first professional job sometimes you got to try knocking on her front door before trying to bust in the back door. To Ms. T the account manager: Your demeanor and attitude was very unprofessional. You made me feel like a criminal For a mistake YOUR staff did. Do better. To Dr Nguyen when you work with a mainly BIPOC patient load make sure you have people who treat your patients kindly don't think because you've hired a woman of color to collect on your accounts that your work is done. After all the turmoil and drama in the dental office lobby (Ms T didn't exceed Have the decency to bring me to a C private office) I paid the patient responsibility portion for the dental device $308 and was seen to have my crown placed. I was going to leave it alone and not write this lengthy review but someone from the office erroneously called me today to inform me that my crown arrived and to schedule an appt to have my already-placed-crown, placed. I've been coming to them for over 10yrs the service was amazing until 2years ago. I should have left with the original dentist left because she explained everything and the staff was very friendly. It was a convivence going to them because my kids and I had Saturday appointments. We was normally the first patients they seen on Saturday's so the rest of the day was ours. It's only been an issue the last couple of years because the front office staff changed after Covid. Was friendly in the beginning but here recently not professional at all. Last year in December I took my kids for their 6month check up and told my son had cavities and to schedule an appointment. The dentist never spoke to me about my son cavities. A week later I brought him in to have the work done I sat in the office for over 3hrs because I was not aware they worked on his whole mouth Left to Right and Top to Bottom. Never once did they explain to me that my son had that many cavities and they was going to fill them all at one time. My son mouth was numb until the following morning and then one of his filling came out within two day of the procedure. I called the office and left a message because the hours have changed. They called the next day and had home come in that Saturday for the filling. A couple of weeks went by and another filling came out. I called left a message but I never received a call back at all. Fast forward to my kids 6 months appointment they mention about my sons filling not being there and my insurance will not cover to have them replace. The newer receptionist talks to me like I don't have insurance talking about we are an HMO and PPO office so you can find another dentist. I said the last few times coming to this office has not been a good experience. I called the office at 1156am and I'm still currently on hold waiting to speak to who in charge. (2hrs) later and no one has picked up the phone. Not good customer service at all. The front office needs to attend a customer service class because this being on hold for this long it totally uncalled for. I have been going here for several years now. I started going here when this was under a different management. When that dentist left l was disappointed but l found out that my hygienist remained. I decided to stay because l get good service. Everyone is very nice from the reception to the hygienist and the Dr.s all have great personality. At least the two l have met. The hygienist Randi does an excellent job on my cleaning and she always give you a goody bag. At least that's what l call it. It includes a toothbrush, floss and a small toothpaste. They also have a tv that you could watch or listen to while you get your dental work done. I know there is probably a dental office closer to where l live but l am happy here at this location. I really should've done some more research before going to this office. Before I made my appt, I saw they had five stars on another website and it was the practice that my insurance referred me to so I figured they were okay. First, they were not professional in any way. I don't even know the name of the dentist who just worked on my mouth... she came late and proceeded to talk to her coworkers the entire time she was working. Didn't introduce herself and barely spoke to me. The woman who seemed to be the office manager also lost my new patient forms with my ssn and all of my personal info, never apologized. She has also has made me extremely uncomfortable with scolding the employees while I'm getting work done, she was rushing me out when I had my x rays and cleanings and was nasty to the employees. They never went over a plan for working on my teeth, just said I had some cavities that needed to be filled. Originally they wanted me to have my whole mouth done in one sitting, I called back and said I didn't think it was a good idea and they said they normally do one quadrant at a time, but when I sat down the dentist said it makes no sense for me to come back and I should get it all done in one sitting. I'm 5 months pregnant and can't lay on my back that long, so I said I'd do one side of my mouth today and the other side another time. Aside from that, I've never heard a dentist recommend to have that much work done in one sitting. She did a sloppy and rushed job, there are sharp flecks of filling in between my teeth and stuck all over my mouth and throat. I had a filling that had fallen out of one of my front teeth and rather than discussing a porcelain crown, veneer etc, they shaved it down to half the size and it looks absolutely horrible. This is the most unprofessional business I encountered in many years. If you do go to them ensure you get your receipt and KREP IT. I would suggest using a credit or debit card to document the transaction. I went to them back in 2/2020. I had two visits and after each visit, I paid in full.. over 600 each visit. Fast forward to 9/2020, seven months later. I get an invoice and they only have record of one payment and demand money from me. I quickly confirmed with my records and my bank records that they were paid in full. So they had this very unprofessional person call me...had so much noise in the back ground with people talking and she was having a conversation with me and them at the same time, I didn't know if she was talking to me or them. I said a few things and hung up. I would have gladly sent them receipts but not after that. Let them resolve their own accounting problems. Absolutely horrible stay far away. They called me the day before to tell me that the assistant that does whitening is unavailable and tried to reschedule to the day after,m which didn't work because I was going to be out of town. Then they proceeded to say they called me over the weekend (I didn't receive any calls) at which point I asked if they left a voicemail and they said "it said that my voicemail isn't setup" which is NOT TRUE.
