This review is for Sealodge C2 My husband and I stayed at C2 for 5 nights and loved it! The view of the ocean was amazing and the apartment looked just like it is pictured in the hestara website. It was clean, fully furnished with a washer, dryer and the kitchen was fully stocked. There were boogie boards, snorkeling gear, cable TV and music system complete with hawaiian music CDs! We loved eating breakfast at the lanai while looking out for whales (there were so many of them!). The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. There were even extra sets of towels if needed. Our most favorite place was the daybed by the window in the living room. The view of the mountains with the waterfalls from the kitchen was unbeatable too! The location is convenient and close to Hanalei bay where you'll find a lot of restaurants and a beautiful beach. We did groceries at Foodland(close to sealodge) which is much better than Bigsave in Hanalei. Couldn't have asked for a nicer place to relax and enjoy a vacation. We will definitely be staying at sealodge C2 during our next trip to Kauai! read more

Our stay was in F5. No complaints to be had. It is a nice studio setting and felt very homely. No AC in the unit, so luckily it was October.

We stayed at sealodge C7 for 14 days. The exterior is very warn. There are no air conditioners inside the units. The screens will allow plenty of mosquitos to enter so make sure you spray yourself down with some deet before you crawl into the bedding. Which by the way the little tiny bugs love the bedding. Not bed bugs, but they are little biting flies. When we arrived late in the evening our first night they're was no code for the lockbox on the front door. The dishwasher leaked flooding the kitchen floor. The upstairs shower head blew off the sprayer and pretty much had a blast stream of water for about two days until the maintenance tech arrived. Which by the way did not have a key so decided to bend the screen door over the window by the front door and unlock the front door to let himself in. We have been home from Kauai for a few days now and just received an email that says are responsible for $260 in damage of mattress pads being stained with blood and all towels and wash rags and bath rugs. The place stayed spotless the entire time we were there. We used the towels and washed them in the tiny tiny washer that's provided. There was bleeding or stains, the bedding was dark yellow comforters from the 70's that needed replacing. Don not stay at this condo, do your research!!!!!! read more

It REALLY matters who owns the condos here at Sea Lodge. We stayed in J9 & it was fabulous!! The couple that owned this place really cares about the small stuff, you feel at home. Saw a monk seal first time there. I left a lengthy review at above link, stayed April 20-30,2015, check it out! All in all, if you find a condo at Sea Lodge with solid reviews, go for it!!! There's a bunch, I saw them. I can only assume people that stayed at stinkers didn't do much investigating, could be wrong though. I know from experience, J9 rocks!!!!!! I too stayed at a Geri and Jim Hestara owned unit and did not have a positive experience. In fact I stayed in 3 properties during my visit to Kauai and this was by far the worst and most expensive. I agree it probably depends on the unit so it's important to do research on the specific unit you will be renting. I wish I did. Some units were recently updated and some were not. I believe insects are usual for an island like Kauai, but I think there is a legitimate roach problem in the whole building. They were spraying while we were there. The unit could use a serious deep cleaning. Half of the appliances didn't work - which we found out after I already loaded up the blender with food. The kitchen was just a mish mosh of random stuff. The communal bbq was lame - just some camp style old charcoal bbqs (none provided). There was also some construction on the stairwells and walkways they didn't tell us about. It started pretty early in the morning. It didn't bother me that much but one day as we were leaving (around 10am, we are late risers), one of the construction men apologized, to which I said it was no problem. Then he made some snarky comment about how most people aren't usually in their units all day. Unnecessary. Views are great from the unit, I'll give you that, but Princeville, especially Sealodge is overrated. The least aloha place during my trip. read more

We stayed in Sealodge G-4. We loved our stay. We had everything we needed from in room laundry to a full kitchen and separate bedroom. Every morning we had breakfast looking out at an unobstructed view of the ocean. We miss the views now that we are home. It was a great stay. You will pay so much more elsewhere for the views you get here. read more

We only spent one night in Sealodge B10 and were happy that we had not booked it for longer. The view was great; and grounds well kept BUT the unit is in serious need of a complete update. When we opened the door, we were greeted by a blast of hot air, it must have been 130 degrees, the windows were hard to open. It was just really rundown. You are really paying for the view with this property. read more

Sealodge H5. Originally we booked a different unit in the same complex, but we had to postpone our trip and H5 was the only available for our dates. The location and the view are good. At the first side the unit looked ok, although the refrigerator was rusty and washer and dryer are small, noisy and worn out. The screen door to the balcony is difficult to open and difficult to close. The unit described as 1 bedroom and a loft. The space that is referred to as a bedroom has zero privacy and is separated from kitchen/living area by a folding partition. The loft is directly under the roof and heats up a lot. No Air Conditioning in the unit. All that would have been kind of bearable but on the second day the washer broke down. Management responded quickly and ordered the part, which will come in about 10 days. So, we have to spend our vacation running back and fort to the laundry room. Each load is $2.00 to wash and $2.00 to dry.The management is ok but the owner doesn't seem to pay much attention to this unit. read more

This review is for F1. DO NOT STAY HERE!! What a pigsty. Filthy dirty great gobs of dust on the fans (no AC ). VERY dated. The whole vibe was bad trip back to a haunted house from the '70s. Of course we got no response from the rental company because they already had our money. The final insult was having to pay a cleaning fee when we had to clean to be able to stay just one night( arrived too late to find another place which we did the following day). read more

We stayed in unit A1. The unit was clean, and well kept for the most part. The views were spectacular, the furnishings were good, and it was nice to see the boogie board, beach chairs and beach towels. There were issues with other things. The range was unusable, there were not condiments/herbs/spices provided except for salt and pepper, the dryer did not heat, the pillows provided were just barely better than nothing. The beach access from the property was a bit perilous to say the least, and it was a bit disappointing to have people walking past our unit to get to the beach access. read more

My wife and I stayed here in Sealodge F4. The owners had communicated that they had updated and renovated their unit. When we walked in it was immediately apparent that they had. All the furniture looks new in a classic "island" design. The pictures on their site do it justice. The kitchen appliances, dishware, pots and pans, etc. also appeared to be new as well. The condo was spotlessly clean upon arrival. We immediately felt at home. We had been a bit nervous about renting this unit, as it's one of the least expensive at Sealodge. Instead, we were relieved to find it was in much better shape than many other condos we've stayed in. There is a bench on the Cliffside in front of the condo. We would take our cup of coffee out there in the morning, or a glass of wine at night, and stare out at the endless ocean. We saw Humpback whales on several occasions. The owners provide many suggestions for restaurants, activities, beaches, etc. which we found very helpful. We had great food, often fresh local fish, and got a great tan. We would recommend this condo for anyone who wants a wonderful island experience. read more

We stayed in F9. Great spot. Lots of stairs but that wasn't an issue. Great ocean views and I mean right on top of it looking into the barrel of huge waves watching whales breach views. Only irritants were that the toaster is pau hana and there is NO WIFI. I repeat NO WIFI. read more

Stayed in G9. Stunning views of Anini reef and beach and the pacific. Corner unit 3rd (top) floor. Just delightfully updated with teal, blue, and white throughout indoor and outdoor pairs of chairs overlooking the ocean make great places to read. Bring your K-cups. Single queen bed plus one couch plus 2 futon mats. Can't beat the value! read more

This review is for F4: DO NOT STAY AT UNIT F4!!! THE UNIT IS DIRTY AND DINGY, THERE IS NO VIEW OR BREEZE, AND THE OWNER IS TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE! My wife and I recently returned from our honeymoon, and we had the most unfortunate luck of renting the Sealodge F4 unit. This is a strong case of avoiding something that's seems too good to be true. When we arrived at the unit, we opened the door and were greeted by a dirty, dusty, dingy condo unit that was 90+ degrees. We knew it was going to be warm, so we opened all the windows. However, you don't get any breeze flowing through the apartment. This unit is blocked by the much larger/longer middle unit. We hoped the wind direction would change but that never happened. In addition, when we opened all the windows, our hot, dingy, dirty unit was then filled with all the noise and sound from the Sea Lodge pool, which is located no more than 25 yards away. The sound of kids splashing around and families talking carried on throughout the afternoon and well into the evening. In addition, we had NO PRIVACY as we couldn't close the windows and there were literally 10-15 people at any given time in the pool looking straight into our bedroom as well as many more passing by the front of the unit on the way to and from the pool. At this point, we were pretty frustrated but decided we would go get an early dinner and groceries. When we got back with our food, we opened the fridge and found OTHER PEOPLE'S FOOD still in the freezer! At this point we started to wonder if the place had even been cleaned since the last guests and started a closer inspection. We found stains on the bed sheets and comforter, garbage behind the bed, and clothes still in the dryer. It was late in the evening and the condo was still so hot that we couldn't even sit next to each other. We were both so frustrated that we considered going back to the airport and flying back home. I wasn't sure what to do but I had a phone number for the "cleaner" so I called and spoke to him to explain our situation. He did offer to come back to do a second clean, but it was 8p and we were EXHAUSTED. We decided that the condo was beyond fixing and quickly packed up our stuff and moved to other accommodations. We emailed the owner to ask for a partial refund and explain why we left. He replied to say he would not offer any refund (not even the cleaning fee!!) and I haven't heard anything from him since. I've emailed multiple times and have received no reply. DO NOT RENT F4! read more

We just returned from a stay in unit J9 - yes, per all the reviews of Sealodge, apparently the units vary greatly in their condition.....I highly recommend J9, it was spotless, thoughtfully furnished and very comfortable and private with amazing views of the great Pacific from all windows. The amenities were so complete: plenty of cookware, dishes, glassware, washer-dryer right in the unit which was so useful, ample bath and beach towels were provided, 4 good quality beach chairs and even boogie boards, coffee-maker and grinder, big refrigerator, hair dryer in each bathroom, soaps, some basic cleaning supplies and enough paper towels and tp to last us for almost two weeks - we'd picked up some basic supplies including tp and paper towels on our way in, having been advised by the rental agency that there would be "starter" items at the condo but we might want to pick up more - we didn't even use what we'd picked up. left it as our gift to the next renter, we felt some of that had been done for us as well, pay it forward, eh? The rental was handled very professionally, plenty of information was provided and ALL the people I dealt with were so courteous and information. J9 has two bedrooms and full bathrooms, each bathroom is off each bedroom, quite private......furniture was not brand new but good solid quality, carpeting was quite new and VERY clean - the entire apartment was EXTREMELY CLEAN - bedding was comfortable, mattresses were great, plenty of extra towels for each bathroom. No AC which I didin't feel was necessary at all.....the nights were around mid-60's, days up to around 84 max.......HI island weather, plenty of clean, ocean breezes. There was a lovely book shelf stocked with a diversity of reading material- several, very helpful guide books, novels and non-fiction - and plenty of dvd's.......there's a blue-ray dvd player with an attached sound bar for better audio. Views were just amazing, there was a wonderful big window seat in the living room (which also had great high cathedral-style ceilings, great for air circulation. All lighting worked fine, the porch was great, we breakfasted out there every morning, even rainy mornings, because of the "roof" of the porch, one was able to keep just out of the showers while still enjoying the wonderful view. Parking areas are all well designed, not a big parking-lot feel at all, landscaping of the grounds was wonderful, very attractive - whole complex is very well maintained. Yes, there were workmen several mornings, never before 9AM on weekday mornings replacing some shingling, repairing gutters, etc. - I was pleased to see the maintenance going on, being so close to the ocean means a place will need some on-going maintenance.....they were all courteous and pretty quiet, no loud voices, they were as qiuet as possible, doing their jobs. I would definitely book this unit again......the cleaning manager also allowed us to stay a little later than checkout time as we had a very late flight that night and since no one was scheduled to arrive later that day we could stay longer, still allowing the cleaning crew to be able to come in and do their jobs for the next rental. THIS IS A WONDERFUL UNIT TO RENT!!! There is only one thing I can think of that might improve this place, one small ceiling fan could be considered......but when we were there, as soon as opened the windows upon arriving from our wonderful adventures on the island, the breezes immediately aired the place - which smelled very nice anyway.
