I was also surprised she didn't even dry an area of hair before I did it myself to show and see the color. I've never not had a stylist do that. I reached out to several salons asking to be contacted by text (since that's easiest for me), and Jess from The Beach House Salon was the only one who actually did. She responded quickly, asked for photos, and personally followed up--yes, the owner herself. When I arrived two weeks later, I was blown away. The salon is absolutely beautiful--cozy, beachy, and inviting. As someone raised on the California coast, it instantly felt like home. Jess explained everything clearly, with patience and kindness. I had a few bad experiences before, and she made me feel completely taken care of and never judged. She gave me baby lights, brighter highlights underneath (just how I asked), a Moroccan Oil nourishing treatment, a trim, a blowout--and my hair has never looked better. I've seen stylists across multiple states who couldn't get it right, and Jess nailed it on the first try. A golden, short blonde bob with my natural color showing through as highlights, but no depth or natural tone on the bottom half of my hair. It looks just like my inspo photo. Yes, it cost more than what I've paid before, but it was absolutely worth it for a full correction. I'd pay it again in a heartbeat. Everyone there made me feel welcome, like an old friend. I already booked my next appointment. They also have a small jewelry section inside the salon with some nice pieces--perfect if you're looking for a gift or something for yourself. If my memory serves me right, I also saw a few woven summer hats. Perfect for the beach. The salon works with a local jeweler who, I believe Jess said, curates the window display each month. If you're just waiting while someone gets their hair done, there are comfy chairs inside with a great selection of books. Outside, you'll find two benches and a table in front of the salon, and just behind it--next to the parking lot--there's a small park with green grass, flowers, and more benches. The whole neighborhood has a really nice feel, with several shops, places to eat or grab a drink, a bar, and even a movie theater right next door. It's a clean, charming area that's perfect for a stroll. You'll have no trouble finding something to do while you wait. And of course--the beach is right here too. For parking: there's a small public lot on Glovers Lane, just a few yards past the salon on the left. It's free, and I had no trouble leaving my car there for a few hours. Probably 10-15 spaces total. Honestly, the whole experience--from the neighborhood to the salon to Jess herself--was just amazing. If your hair needs help, or you just want a stylist who gets it, call Jess or one of the other stylists who work here. They're the real deal.

(I'll attach the reference photo.) I was very clear that I wanted no more than two inches taken off. Instead, at least four inches were cut, and I left with choppy, uneven layers that looked like a combination of a blunt cut and an uneven mullet. I tried styling it for a few days to see if I could make it work, but I couldn't. I was devastated. When I returned to the salon to explain the situation, one of the two stylists was there. As I was describing what had happened, the stylist who cut my hair began telling the other stylist in Spanish that I had never shown a reference photo, never mentioned the length, and never said I only wanted two inches cut. Thankfully, I understand enough Spanish to know exactly what she was saying. I told them that I absolutely had shown the reference photo and had been very specific about the length. At that point, they immediately backtracked and switched to speaking to me in Spanish. Rather than acknowledging the misunderstanding, they told me it would be too difficult to fix and that because my hair was already so short, the only way to correct it would be to cut it even shorter. I left with no solution, no accountability, and in tears. More than anything, I was disappointed to be treated as though I was lying when I had gone out of my way to communicate exactly what I wanted. I had very long hair, and this wasn't a minor trim gone wrong--it was a significant haircut that I did not ask for. I wish I could get my money back. Based on my experience, I would only recommend coming here for a blowout, not a haircut.

Spending hours in a salon chair is never my idea of a good time but it's a process and with what I…read morewanted I knew it would take some time. I am a brunette naturally and I've been blonde for the past 7 months or so. I've never had any issue with brassiness, my hair lifts rather easily. Me and my friend went in on time for our scheduled appointment and sat for probably around 15 minutes while the hairdresser (there was only one) finished up on a client. When it came time to sit down we discussed how I wanted to be a slightly brighter blonde which in essence just meant I wanted my root bleached and toned to match the rest of my hair because it had grown out a fair amount. I showed her a few reference pictures and it began. The hairstylist mixed the bleach and applied it directly to my scalp with a bottle which I'm not accustomed to but it started getting bad when the bleach started burning my head which I've never experienced before, she ended up having to wash it out after 20 minutes because of how uncomfortable it was. The end product (I'm including photos of the whole process) ended up being the crown of my head a bright brassy orange color with streaks in it. I made it clear that I wasn't happy with it and she was very kind and offered to do a balayage to break up the brassiness. After processing it and washing my hair for the second time I was left with bright blonde streaks and the crown of my head still left completely orange. I was mortified, my hair now felt stringy as it had been processed twice already. She then assured me she could fix it by doing some foils in the root to take away the brassiness that was still clearly visible. In hindsight I should have gotten up and paid there and then left to prevent further damage to my hair but I was trusting that with her "20+" years of experience it could still be salvaged. She then went in with foils, let it develop and washed my hair for the third time at which point I was extremely upset to see that not only was my hair more damaged it was also still orange and possibly streakier than before. She had another appointment come in at the same time and the girl was left sitting in the chair while she took me back to the bowl again to apply a toner to do a shadow root so I didn't leave with orange streaks. She applied the toner, didn't leave it in and washed it out. at this point I was extremely upset. My friend and I had been sitting in the salon for 4 hours at this point and my hair had only gotten worse. She asked to blow dry a strand but I told her it was pointless because you could see the brassiness clearly in the light and even if it got lighter it would still be orange. I told her and my friend that I just wanted to go home, she proceeded to tell me to come back on Wednesday to get it fixed which I declined. She then asked me to only pay for materials which I pulled out money to do. At this point I was close to tears and she hastily said she "couldn't deal with tears" , walked away and continued to talk to me while working out her other client. thankfully I did not end up having to pay for anything after it was over, I left and went home. After attempting to blow dry my now straw stiff over processed hair with orange streaks I decided to leave this review.
