Dr. Wilson is top notch approach to 'dental problem solving' because he's down to earth, and has been doing cosmetic dentistry for a long time. My hygienist, Danielle, is meticulous in her work, and my teeth always feel great after she's finished. The staff who work the reception area and take care of billings really know what they're doing. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Wilson create two new front teeth for me this past spring. It was very hard entrusting any dentist to recreate a 31year old smile that at one time, was my favorite feature. After a minor fall, I had injured my front tooth, which eventually turned brown. Years and years of bleaching it I decided to look for a dentist that could make me new front teeth. I was nervous to say the least!!!! I've been a dental professional since 1994 so I know a lot of good dentists in the Bay Area. I could go to any one of those dentists, but Dr. Wilson is my favorite! He has been my dentist since I met him in San Francisco in 2000. I still live in San Francisco but I drive to Santa Rosa to see him for my dental appointments. I like how he takes the time to explain treatment options and answer any questions I may have. Also, he doesn't go see other patients in different rooms during my treatment so he's much more focused on my needs than other dentists I've seen. He's never in a hurry and his work shows it. Very meticulous! He's really funny too and we talk about non-dental stuff like wine, food and music. That makes my visits really fun, not just another dental appointment. Poor communication. Doc has poor patient care, his demeanor was cold. Dentist told me that if I had major work done on my teeth I would avoid root canals. I asked MD Wilson why my teeth were in so much pain he said it was because my roots might have been too long. Wouldn't he have told me this prior to the procedure and explained this to me when reviewing my x-rays? Procedure was done in Sept/Nov of 2019 and my teeth still hurt 7 months later. Referred me to a root canal specialist of his choice. I was so disappointed I went to a to another ortho specialist of my choosing. Instead of two root canals anticipated I was examined for 4. Wilson never called to follow up after I had told him my concerns and that I was having pain issues. The staff didn't give me any resolution nor did they make me feel cared for. I had to get another dentist. New dentist told me that he didn't fill two cavities and that the work done was not necessary. I could have just had small repairs done without an invasive procedure. The office really liked how great my insurance coverage was and drained a lot of money. They kept stating what my insurance would cover and it was pressured me into using it before the year was out. It was terrible. I'm not sure how he has so many great reviews and awards. It was a horrible experience with unnecessary pain and suffering. I'm still recovering and am contemplating filing a formal complaint. I have never had any issues with my teeth until after Wilson worked on them with the exception two cavities in my history. It was awful. I wish I would have never had any work done by Wilson. My teeth feel ruined and I'm really devastated by this experience and alway worried about my teeth. Be warned. read more

I had my teeth whitened last week. I claimed my offer on Yelp and used it towards in office whitening. I first had my teeth cleaned by Carolyn the hygienist who is very thorough and patient, but more importantly she was gentle, as I have sensitive gums. Don't go anywhere else! Dr. Wilson is the best. I was terrified of getting my wisdom tooth pulled, he did it was quickly and it was painless. He also knew how badly it was hurting me prior to getting it extracted, and he saw me the same day. I really appreciated that. All of the employees were extremely nice, and helped me not be nervous. I came as new patient. I came from SoCal and I guess dentists aren't as nice there? This guys great and so is his staff.

Very competent and skilled dentist. However, if you don't have full dental coverage, STAY AWAY or you will be gouged beyond belief. I was basically rushed into getting expensive, uncovered treatment that went beyond the typical cleaning. The staff did a terrible job of explaining coverage and future cost and instead rushed the appointments without clearly detailing the cost that I would incur with the insurance that I have. As a result, three visits and a few fillings later, I owe over $800 -- with insurance. I can't pay it, because I'm not rich -- I work over 40 hours a week but it's not a lucrative job. Not that the staff cared to ask what I could reasonably afford. It was just rapid appointment making with little to no explanation of cost. Months later, the only way I can deal with the bill without it going into collection is to get "credit care," aka a credit card that comes with a 26 percent APR, and that, again, the staff rushed me into because they so desperately needed my money. But a $50 a month payment plan was not an option -- not enough upfront, I was told. So now I'm locked into a 26 APR "credit care" scam, so I'll end up paying over $1,000 for three visits. And this is with insurance. The office has yet to call me to finish the "deep cleaning" or the fillings they said I need. It's because I'm poor. And it's just as well. I would not return, even if they offered discounted care. They got their $800 out of me, so why should they care? I know my teeth aren't perfect -- such is a reality when you're uninsured for five years, then get lousy, lousy coverage. But couple that with lousy, rushed administrative work, and the result is an unbelievable rip off. Again, the dental work is fine -- competent, comfortable, etc. But if you don't have full coverage and need more than a basic cleaning -- and aren't independently wealthy -- stay far away. read more

Okay, I HATE going to the dentist. But Dr. Wilson makes things easier. He is very confident, quick and fully competent, and this office is extremely friendly and accommodating. I love his receptionist, she is amazing and has even gone as far as to say she would watch my baby for me while I got my teeth cleaned!!! Of course I didn't take her up on her offer, but the fact that she offered just proves how awesome and down to earth these folks are. When my dentist, Stanley Quock retired, Dr. Wilson took over his practice. I had an emergency but Dr. Wilson refused to help me that day. He was getting a new dental chair which was way more important to him than helping me. I was stunned by Wilson's arrogance. I went home in tears wondering what I was going to do. I recalled the name of a dentist who worked with Dr. Quock and called him. Within a half hour, I was taken care of by Dr. Josh Hammer. I was so happy and relieved to have found a new dentist who cares about people instead of what I experienced with Dr. Wilson. I asked his staff numerous times for my dental records to take to my new dentist. I was told they were in storage and hard to get to, which I knew was a lie because when I first asked for them, I still had an appointment scheduled with them the following week, which of course I promptly canceled. I had a horrible experience with Dr. Sean Wilson. I went to him a couple of times and he actually made my mouth worse as he was always gossiping about someone and he accidentally cut into a nerve on my gum. I was bleeding in the chair and he had to lift the chair up twice as I was choking on my own blood. I didn't know it at the time because he never addressed the problem. I went to another dentist whom I love and my dentist now had to send me to another professional to fix the gum problem. Cost me a lot of money to fix Dr. wilson's mistake. I first went to see Sean Wilson when he took over the patients of Dr David Etchell (he bought the practice from retiring Dr). Dr Etchell was truly great and one of a kind~ a very kind and generous man, with warm chair-side manner. Well what a terrible shock to meet up with the complete opposite who bought his practice~ Dr Wilson. He was the most impatient and rude medical professional I have ever encountered. After a couple visits I never went back again. Like another reviewer mentioned, the staff turnover is high and of course a few years later now, most likely none of Dr Etchell's former staff remains. I was in the process of searching for a dentist, and I was determined to find a good fit. I have had some bad experiences with other dentists in the past who were unethical and did a terrible job, and that I had to get corrections for. In addition I am new to the area where I currently live and had no recommendations from friends or family. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff who explained the process to me and how to fill out the paperwork. They even meet as a team in the morning to discuss their patients in detail-I have not seen this in a dentists office before! Very impressive detailed attention for each patient. I needed an exam and my night guard examined, and Dr. Wilson went over my X-rays and pictures with me. Thankfully I did not need a new night guard and my teeth were fine.
