I started using Sears Heating & Cooling when we moved into the neighborhood in late 2022 and they've been nothing but excellent ever since. If you're "inheriting" a previous owners' equipment and suspect it was less-than-perfectly cared for (as mine was), I highly recommend their service plan -- for $198 a year they service both your heat & cooling and keep everything running smoothly. After an initial tune-up with a little bit of necessary maintenance, they've kept my furnace and A/C purring ever since with little to no additional cost. They've never recommended a repair or replacement that wasn't needed, most visits are quick and included in the yearly service fee (you even get a free filter change), and their techs are friendly and educational (I definitely have a better understanding of how my HVAC system works now than when I bought the home!). Plus, it's employee-owned, local, the people running the place are actually part of the community. What more can you ask for? read more

I purchased a home right before the summer months hit and when it was time to run the c/a... it didn't work. After contacting the company that held the warranty they lied to me, charged me and fixed nothing. After talking to my sister she suggested that I call Sears H & C because she has been very pleased with their work and reminded me that it was the same company that had fixed my mother's furnace the winter before. To my surprise the same tech that handled my moms furnace was the same that came and handled my c/a problem as well. We have have had a service contact with Sears for years. They have always come as soon as possible when called, reminded us every spring and fall about coming to check the furnace, and all repairs have been reasonably priced. They have been really good it us. These type businesses are busy. Keeping up my service contract for something as important as heat and air conditioning is a mandatory bill at my house. Checking systems twice a year prevents breakdowns later. Those who skip this will probably have a furnace crash, and then wait behind those of us who plan ahead. read more

Just had another great service call from Sears heating and cooling this morning. I submitted a web request on Sunday night around 8pm and received a response within a half hour. Service tech called 30 mins before arriving, quickly assessed the problem (which turned out to be a simple problem without the need for parts!). He was professional, friendly and answered all my questions, even showed me what to do if it happened again. Brian was my tech and he remembered coming to our home a couple years ago. We have been using Sears for years, and it's an outstanding company. Last summer we had some problems with a new air conditioning unit, and we had daily contact and follow-up with Sears until the problem was solved--I know that not all companies would have been so thorough or so patient. I was so impressed by how prompt the service was at all levels, from initial contact, to sales, to service. Sears is honest - I first called Beutler (Sacramento area)- to come out because my furnace was not working. The guy told me I needed a "$1,000 circuit panel" and that I should immediately get a new furnace/air conditioner which they could install "tomorrow no problem" at a cost of $25,000 max.......That seemed like a rip off which it turned out to be - I called Sears to come and look to see what's wrong with my furnace and it turned out to be a maintenance thing - he just cleaned off the burners!!!! OMG - run don't walk from Beutler and CALL SEARS!!! read more

Tech called before hand (for an 8am appointment) and arrived 10 minutes early, which is a wonderful thing for a household with a day sleeper. He checked everything out, cleaned out the AC unit after asking to use our hose, (even rewound the hose - cool!) and answered my query concerning replacing the protective wrap for an outside connector hose. Done in about 25 minutes. Love the idea of e-mailed receipts, but do wish there was an easier way to sign other than writing in a wee small space with a finger. Thanks Joe! And thanks SHC! The thermostat on my furnace was set at a constant 74 deg for health reasons. When I woke up on Monday, 3/13/17 the temperature had dropped to 66 deg. I called Sears immediately, and Ramon arrived at my house within the hour. He worked on the furnace and thermostat for several hours, found the problem and rectified it. We've been on their service plan ever since and they've been great about maintaining our equipment and answering every question. It's easy to get an appointment, they always arrive within the scheduled window, and they always call 30 minutes before arriving.
