WOW...I look so forward to this review. We came home last Saturday afternoon to find we had No A/C. Knowing I have a 23yr old A/C unit I knew this was coming. I called 3 companies and set apt.'s for Monday. 1 was a company we used to service our current A/C and Heater for the last 9 pears and they have been great. The other 2 were the best rated I found that I liked. Pickerington Heating and Cooling aka 5 STAR SERVICES did not come in the cheapest but was in the middle and the reason I pick them was because of the Salesman Josh ! An older very experienced man in the industry not just sales. He was so knowledgeable about all the systems and what I truly needed. But he convinced me what separated Pickerington Heating and Cooling was the staff and installers. The Installers are truly what matters in a job like this. They told me on Monday they were so booked that it would be next Monday before I could get a Fill install. But Josh went above and beyond and stop back the next day with a capacitor that got my old one up and running so we had a/c to get by with. Sure I could have just had him replace that and been done and we both knew that, but it is 23 yrs old. So we chose to replace it. Now they call me on Tuesday and say an opening came up and they could squeeze it in Thursday !!! Great News !!! Now the BEST PART ...The 3 men they sent out Jerrick, Tony and Zane. These 3 worked together like an Ohio State Offense ..2 worked inside taking the furnace apart and Zane outside taking the old A/C unit apart and installing the New Goodman. When it was all said and done I was so impressed ..Clean as you go, organized, communicated great between the 3 of them. Every thing they touched or did looks great, clean and professionally installed. Try finding a good company to determine why your air conditioning isn't cooling down the house. I'd like more than a review or two. I want mostly positive reviews. And no, I am not handing out information to have multiple companies contact me. And it is HOT, so I am in a lousy mood. The AC has been running for nearly 12 hours and the house went from 82 to 81! Frankly I was amazed Pickerington Heating and Cooling aka Five Stars was answering phones at 8:50pm. Furthermore, I was amazed that they could send someone out the next day. We got Noah, the grandson of the man that founded this company 45 years ago. Noah carefully, without regard to time, analyzed the entire system, the furnace, the heat pump. And he was very nice in telling us that the expensive aprilair filter needed replacing soon and Amazon was a good choice. Our system is now a senior citizen. We could plow $$$ into it and if we were lucky, maybe get another year or two out of it. Okay, how much to replace with a more efficient unit? We decided with a 10 year parts and labor that replacing was a better use of our money. In setting things up, I learned that this company gives back to people returning to society. I like that. When you've paid your debt, it is nice to get training and a job. I learned a few things. Keep the thermostat at a constant comfortable temperature, for us, 78. Don't open the windows at night unless there is no humidity. Don't go any lower than 55 in the winter. Do I wish it was cheaper? Yes. This has been a month of big bills. But I have lived here 45 years and this is my 3rd system. You own a house and systems get old. I thought Pickerington Heating and Cooling was knowledgeable and responsive. Yes I know this review is LONG. The next day Billy and Alex showed up. I liked both of them. They put on booties and protected my floor and carpeting with coverings. Expertly they installed my equipment. They caulked around the ducts, even going into the crawl space. And floors were swept and cleaner than before. Loved Billy and Alex. I am pleased. read more

I found the company's sales process deceiving. I thought I was getting Carrier equipment, for which I was willing to pay a premium price, but what I got was Comfortmaker equipment. Carrier is the only brand I discussed with the sales person. I was surprised to discover the switch after it was installed. When I checked the contract I discovered that it does not specifically mention the brand to be installed, only the performance specifications. Shame on me for not reading the contract more closely. Shame on them for writing contracts that don't mention the brand of equipment to be installed. In addition, the installation team took it upon themselves to remove a bush near the outdoor unit without even consulting me. They simply hacked all the branches off the bush and threw them aside. No attempt was made to even clean up. Finally, the installation team did not respect my property while performing the install. They tracked dirt across my carpet. Moved mats and personal items, which is understandable to make a working space. But I would have expected a better cleanup effort and for them to return my personal items to their original places. Certainly NOT a five star performance. read more

I don't write reviews often, but I felt compelled to leave this one to warn other customers. It recently came to my attention that I had paid for a year service and that the service had expired without the company reaching out to help me schedule my last, prepaid service. I, like any other homeowner have a lot on my plate. It's challenging for me to stay on top of every company I purchased a yearly service with. That's why I appreciate it when other companies reach out with a reminder. I have numerous subscriptions for home care and all will reach out to me and ensure I get my prepaid services scheduled. Pickerington Heating and Cooling did not feel that my business was worth the effort to reach out to with a reminder so they have taken my money for a service that was prepaid for but was never delivered upon due to an arbitrary timeline. I am a single homeowner, recently laid off, and experiencing a recent death in the family and yet rather than help me schedule this prepaid service regardless of whether my membership has lapsed they have the audacity to ask me to renew my membership with them instead. I find it highly unlikely that if I was a man that I would be treated like this. Please be aware of this company. read more

Our furnace quit working and we called on a Friday night around 4:30 PM. Normal rate after hours like a Friday evening would be $69. Repair person called us 20 minutes later and happened to have just wrapped up a service call and could be at our house in 10-15 minutes. We told him we saw the Yelp price of $49 on their page and they honored the $49 special. Arrived at our house in Canal Winchester around 5:30 and inspected the furnace, trying to restart it without success. Determined the ignite on our furnace was bad and needed replaced. He looks over and sees a spare part my father-in-law had left on the air conditioner unit and tells us that this is a new igniter. Replaced the igniter and the furnace is working great. Out the door and total cost was $49 sent invoice to our email. Fantastic service, really fast to respond and fixed it in short time with new igniter with only the $49 including all fees/taxes. The technician was honest friendly and courteous. Five Stars in all categories! Super service. Little confusing they go by Five Star which seems to be an umbrella group of highly rated local area air / heating contractors and also by Pickerington and Eastland. They seem to use Five Star for inbound call handling which we were in a call queue for several minutes. read more

AC went this past saturday. Gave this place a callthey were booked on Saturday but could come out on Sunday, thankfully it wasn't a 90 degree evening. I was given the time of 11a-2p the tech called at 11:30 to let me know he was on the way. The tech was super nice and very informative. Turned out I had a capacitor in the AC that went out, he swapped it out and was done within about 20 mins. with service fee I paid $248. overall happy with the service provided and would use them again. read more

Mike Brown the tech was very good at what he does. He came and looked at our furnace and A/C set-up. It was so out-of-date it needed to be replaced not repaired. The men of Pickering Heating and Cooling came out the next day. They worked all day and got our ac and furnace replaced, they did very impressive work, they were very professional and organized. Pickerington H&C came to check a unit leaking water into my attic. The (first) technician said he made a repair to my system and I turned the AC back on. Four days later, my attic was filling with water again. PHC sent another technician to look at my system but he didn't come to fix my unit. He came to protect the company from liability for my ceiling damage. He acted like a detective to find me at fault, taking photos, videos, claiming damage to the unit....which did not exist. FYI guys, the "pan" was not cracked. Another company came and said..."Oh, your drain line is clogged and your filter was dirty." Running fine today no thanks to PHC. read more

Setting up an appointment by phone for our annual AC tune-up was quick and easy. Our technician, Adam, arrived as scheduled, introduced himself and put on shoe covers before entering our home. Throughout the service call he was professional and personable. Adam explained what he was testing on our system as he went along, and answered all of my many questions. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Pickerington Heating & Cooling, especially specific to Randall. When my AC stopped working during August, I panicked. This was the company that had the earliest availability for someone to come by to see what was wrong so I jumped on it. Randall came out literally same day and was very thorough in diagnosing the issue. We determined that I was going to need a very costly replacement. He talked through options with me to make sure I was able to do what needed done. Fast forward to literally the next day and two very professional guys came to the house to install my new equipment. Hi, Mike ( and Isaiah ) came out to our house on 1/8 for a service call. Actually, he came out twice. The furnace stopped working, again, shortly after he left the first time. Mike came back after I called the office to let them know it had stopped working. It was late in the day. The last thing any of us want to do is to have to go back to any type of job or situation and fix something we thought was already done. Especially, at the end of the work day. Mike came back over, was patient, professional and it's been working great ever since. It seems like it's harder and harder to get great service in anything these days. We feel like we got great service from Mike and this company. We have used Pickerington Heating and Cooling a few times now, they are fair with the pricing and have always done a great job. We had them perform yearly maintenance on our furnace and they seemed to do a decent job so we asked them to install humidifier for the whole house and a programmable thermostat. The humidifier installation went okay but it took them 4 separate visits to finally get the programmable thermostat installed. They saw we had a gas furnace / heat pump set up but still didn't have a clue as to what programmable thermostat would work with it and how it needed to be wired. Then last summer in our first heat wave, we realized we weren't getting any air conditioning so I called them to come out check things out because I suspected the problem was the thermostat because we had no problems with A/C before that. They assured me the problem wasn't the thermostat but rather our heat pump needed to be replaced so we agreed to have them replace it with just an A/C unit. With all the trips in and out of our house they never told us when they were done until I called them and told them I didn't think they were done because there was still a huge mess in the basement with drywall dust, boxes and spare parts left all over the place. I expressed my dissatisfaction and told them they could save a trip out to put a "Satisfied Customer" sign on our front lawn and all the lead tech had to say was he was sorry. Since the weather has gotten colder a couple of months ago, we have found mice in our house for the first time in 20 years of living here and I strongly suspect they are getting in where Pick H&C did their work so when it warms up, I need to go out and find where it needs to be caulked. Yesterday, our heat was going out intermitantly so I took a close look around the furnace to see if I could see what might be the problem and it looks like the wiring for the humidifier, thermostat and new A/C unit was done by the 3 Stooges. I have another company on their way to fix the heat and am curious as to what their reaction will be when they see how messed up the wiring is. read more
