IMHO, they offer reduced rates because no one else will hire them. Further, Home Depot and Lowe's personnel will make up excuses for inability to install gas products their company sells OR simply state you need a gas plumber to hookup gas in addition to their install team. Yes, the same install team you already paid for with item purchase. I digress. Whenever I need information I call Service Pro, because aside from affable nature, i get precise information from a real expert in the field. Go here first, then if you desire get other opinions. I paid the deposit and they scheduled with me to come back on a Saturday to finish the repair. They never showed up so I called to see when they were coming. I told them that they wasted my Saturday waiting for them to come to my house and that I wanted a refund of my deposit. I had to make several calls over two week period could not get a straight answer. We are now one month later and they simply do not return my calls. It is my fault. I should've asked to see their licensing. The gentleman that arrived appeared to have no idea what he's doing yet We paid him as we were in a rush to get the repair done. During this time, I learned that not everyone likes a do-it-yourself like me. Some even said I wanted, "free work." Not true! However, the current installed prices spoke to me. I grabbed my tools! Pulling a local permit as a home owner/builder in Florida, I installed a 2 ton (24k) ACIQ-24-HP32 condenser and ACIQ-24-AH32 air handler, and related mechanical. This system replaced a 26 year old 1.5 ton (18K) Trane XE-1000 condenser and TWGO18A air handler that was showing its age -- like me. One of my main hardware vendors, HVAC direct, patiently worked with me as I learned the new system requirements. With help from Isaiah Luke Appliance Repair to do the final commissioning of the system, the new ACIQ inverter system passed local inspection! The new system is a noticeably quieter and produces considerable heat split by comparison with the previous system. The fact that the ACIQ has a higher BTU rating, (24K) a higher seer rating (18), and yet uses smaller breakers, 30A down to 25A on the outside unit and 30 down to 15 amps for the inside unit and doesn't dim my lights when it runs, says it all. Dmitri came out the next day and fixed the icemaker, then returned the following afternoon with a replacement part for the kegerator. Total cost for both $500 including parts..
