I really liked this place. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The animals looked like they were well taken care of. I never fed a lobster or a stingray so that was so cool. I also got to pet a little alligator which was really neat. You can buy food cups here to feed the animals and the fish. I highly recommend coming here!! read more

As if that wasn't bad enough, they gave completely WRONG and WAY outdated information on running my aquarium, and were condescending and rude about it! I'm guessing that is why their fish are sick. The staff was very helpful I've been in twice now and the price is comparable to anywhere else at least for the freshwater live stock and plants. I like that they quarantine the fish before selling them to customers. For example Petco and PetSmart do not. I'm excited for my next visit to the shop. read more

I've seen the other reviews on Seascape Aquatics and I agree and disagree with them. I agree in that the owners are not the friendliest/outgoing people. However, they are both the most knowledgeable aquarium store owners I have ever run into. AND they are willing to share that knowledge If you are willing to listen to what they have to say. If you are tired of taking your chances with chain store tropical fish... please give these folks a try! I've never purchased a fish with problems from them. "First time into the store" I stopped in on my way home from work one day and when I walked in the guy looked at me like I was some homeless guy! Didn't ask me how he could help or nothing just put his hat on and told the lady he would be back and walked out. My favorite place to shop for new and exciting animals for my tank. The owners are friendly and helpful, whenever I'm looking for something for my aquariums this is my go-to store. While I have to worry about bringing home sick animals when I purchase from other stores, in my years of shopping here I have only ever encountered healthy and happy animals. Don't go here. Overpriced, poor customer service, ok products. Breakdown: 1) I've purchased a few coral and fish from here. I was disappointed to learn that the shop just across the street had the same, and larger, coral for a substantial fraction of the price. 2) The woman who owns the shop is an absolute delight. Very informative and helpful. The husband, on the other hand, is a freaking nightmare. I've never seen someone with a worse attitude or more dismissive tone. Ask him a question and guaranteed he'll make you feel like a burden and a waste of his time. Sorry you hate your life dude, don't take it out on your customers. Also, the place reeks of cigarettes to which he has no concern about. Openly smokes right outside his door with the door open. I know that's not a big deal, but for a place that should be quiet and calming, it really throws you off. 3) Ok products. Like I said, lookup the closest nearby aquarium to this one and you'll find better and cheaper livestock. I'm new to the aquascaping hobby, but have actively been trying to research and learn as much as I can. Every question I asked him was met with judgement and rudeness. Sorry Elle but I have to disagree with you. I loved this place! I am a beginning fish collector and had the unfortunate experience of purchasing my tank mates elsewhere at big name pet stores. These stores left me with no information on how to take proper care of my fish, and gladly let me take home extremely incompatible fish species. I later had to take them back so that they would not kill each other. When I walked into Seascape Aquatics, I was immediately impressed. Although they are a small store, their selection is incredible. They have the cleanest tanks I have seen in an aquatic retail store. This shows me that they truly care about the life of the fish and not just the money that they make off of it. As far as costumer service goes, I was just as impressed. I had so many questions and came in right before the stores scheduled closing time. The wonderful lady that assisted me, stayed well past to help me find my new tank mates and give me as much information as possible to insure their survival. Any question I had, she had a great answer. I left knowing that my new fish would be perfect for me as a beginner and that I wouldn't be having any more surprises. Fish are healthy and good. The giant pet stores don't have as healthy fish. Yes they are a bit more. At times a lot more. Overall though I know the fish here are healthy and won't have shock problems like I have encountered from the giant pet stores. Pay a dollar more but no return visits. read more

I don't know why everyone is claiming employees are rude. Maybe a bit standoffish at first, but once you talk to them they've always been incredibly helpful. I've been going her for my off and on fish needs and questions for 10 years- ever since I was a kid. Just yesterday I went in to have them test my water because I don't have anything besides dipsticks at home. They tested for free and gave me advise. The animals here are beautiful and they're always much healthier than big chain pet stores. I've never brought a fish home from here that was sick or that died quickly. They always do well. They also always used to donate a betta fish to the local 4-H group for the annual raffle. Generous and clean. read more

Selection is ok and they seem knowledgable, but as many have already stated, their customer service is lacking or inconsistent at best; they seem very choosy on who they want to help and be nice to. I have seen them be nice/helpful to one customer and then not to another right afterwards. I have personally been on the receiving end of both sides of that coin. Also, this place doesn't like to answer the phone. I long for the day that Colorado Springs actually has a good mom & pop fish store. Ironically, the Petco on north powers (near the Briargate intersection) seems to be the best in town. They are always nice, have a great selection all while actually knowing the hobby. read more

Our house got hit by lightening and burned. 4 days later, we finally get to the 20 gallon saltwater tank to discover that the sole fish in there was still alive. I called to ask if they could take him. "Nope, but you need to keep the water oxygenated, blah, blah, blah......" Now, I've had saltwater fish for decades and KNOW this. SHE TRIED TO SELL ME A BATTERY OPERATED PUMP. Thank you, but I'd rather put him on Craigslist and give him and his live rocks away (which I then did), than to give you any more of my money. We've used them occasionally for a few years, but have had poor results due to sick fish. The service stinks, too. read more

Others say they received poor customer service. I didn't. I'm new to the saltwater world and pestered the owner with a bunch of questions and she was happy to answer them albeit a bit distracted with other customers in the store which is reasonable considering how long I took her time. Prices on what I bought were actually cheaper than petco which I checked some items before I visited seascapes. I've now visited several times and always received helpful knowledgeable service. Owner was real nice to me. Even with my lack of experience and 20 questions every time I go in. Compared to the other pet shops in town this is the best for marine life by far. read more

As good of quality fish and inverts as you could ask for. Owners get a bad rap because they choose to owner-operate their busy store and some coin them as rude. I'd say they are not rude, they are kind, but they care enough not to sugar coat things. Read some articles and books before you get into this hobby, or learn from a good mentor. They don't mind teaching whoever is willing to listen, when they have time, but sometimes I've seen six different parties of folks in their small storefront at once, and they have no possible way of pleasing everyone time wise and question wise during these situations, but understand that is how these folks have to make their living, so please be respectful of that and thicken your skin up a little bit :) read more

I really like Seascapes. I am a freshwater nano tank geek and I have gotten nothing but great advise from the owners. The fish we have purchased there are very healthy and do not have the neurotic tendencies seen in fish coming from large pet stores. For me, customer service has been exceptional. The owner even took the time to explain the life cycle of a bulb type plant to my 16 year old. Both owners of the shop have been very patient with our questions. read more

Giving two stars is in my opinion being generous. The only reason I have done so is because there tanks are well maintained. The corals looked terrible until just recently, so I assume they either got in a new shipment or recently upgraded their lights. The older lady was nice and honestly cared about the wellbeing of the fish making sure our tank was big enough and had been properly cycled. The prices are a little high, but not as bad as the could be. Let me just say... I will NOT be returning. The gentleman owner is extremely rude and condescending. I went in to ask if they could take in clownfish that I bred and I hadn't even finished saying "I have a pair of clownfish I will be breeding," when he rudely interrupted me to say that I couldn't do it. Then he proceeded in lecturing me about how and why I couldn't do it mainly because his friend couldn't and even if I did they would never take my fish. He should not act like he knows anything about me or my multiple aquariums full of prized fish. Just because I'm young doesn't make me inferior or ignorant. Every single time I have gone in he is a complete @&$ hole and I will not be returning. It's too bad because this store really had a little bit of potential but I refuse to be treated like the dirt in between his toes. This store has beautiful fish and amazing aquariums however the customer service from the man who works there is incredibly horrid. HE is very unapproachable and rude. My partner and I have spent thousands of dollars there in the past, mostly dealing with the woman who owns it, SHE is very knowledgable and easy going. In our experience, when you deal with small businesses, you develop a relationship with the business owner and visa versa but if you spend money in this store, no matter how much, just be ware that you are not valued as a customer. read more

I asked if she they had moss there and the owner showed me what she had which wasn't a lot at all but she seemed so happy to give it to me. As I walked around the beautifully decorated store the male owner asked me if I needed any help. I told him I was just looking and waiting on his wife to assist me. She bagged the moss up and we waited at the counter and talked about pets for a good 20 mins or so. I had an awesome experience there and the customer service rocked. I will return. read more

Beware of this place. The customer service is nonexistent. The woman who you have to deal with is totally condescending and will treat you as if you know nothing. However bring up fish diseases like columnaris or ich and she has no idea what the hell you are talking about. I received fish with both of these diseases from their store and their recommendation was to buy medication from them. No attempt to right the situation just condescension and refusal to help. If you have a choice go to aquaria masters or for that matter petco. These are awful people who must have been bullied all their lives so now want to take it out on customers who make the mistake of entering their door. Do not be fooled by the decent selection of fish because they will become sick and die anyway. Please heed my warning and never go to this store. read more

Good selection on fish but the customer service was very below the standard. I had questions about the fish and was given very short answers. My questions to the clerk were apparently too much because the clerk handed me a book to read on the fish and no longer received any additional customer service help. The clerk went on to chat with a fellow coworker and left me to the book, which is horrible customer service in my opinion. I won't be going to that fish store anymore. I'll shop elsewhere where I can possibly get way better customer service. read more
