It is the closest vacation property off the bridge from Mt. Desert Island. In addition, there are no less than 5 lobster pounds nearby with 3 being very close, one is walking distance. A new bakery just opened up and it is walking distance too. It has coffee drinks, blueberry pie, blueberry muffins and scones and Whoopie Pies. It is also close to the grocery store and gas. Chalet amenities: Five stars. My wife and I have stayed at all kinds of rentals all over the world and this is the CUTEST place we have ever seen. The decorations will make you smile and give you peace. The two bedrooms are both great and the bathroom has all you need including an amazing shower head and toilet light---cool! There are several restful places to sit if you need some down time and the kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. The Keurig coffee maker is stocked with great tasting coffee pods. Food nearby: Five Stars. Five lobster pounds close by and the bakery plus Bar harbor is close with some great restaurants as well as Ellsworth. You won't go hungry and Acadia house is close to it all. We ate so much lobster, we almost turned red and the tasty blueberry dishes were amazing too! We also had some amazing ice cream too. All this nearby in a special country looking paradise! Chalet ownership: Five stars. Cliff is the most amazing owner! He really cares and is absolutely focused on giving folks an experience they won't soon forget. He keeps the Acadia House in perfect shape! Cliff is also a local expert on ALL the many fun activities to do in the area. His recommendations were truly priceless! He knows where to drive, where to shop, where to eat and where to hike. The first vacation rental I ever rented where we also got a tour guide...bonus! Nearby activities: Five stars. Whether you come for a long weekend or more than a week, you can rest assured you will not run short of things to do. We visited some amazing nearby gardens, hiked some adventurous hikes, went to drives to sights that take your breath away, shopped in beautiful Bar Harbor, took a nature cruise, and even saw a really fun lumberjack show. We could have done a lot more but our six nights simply flew by. In summary, we had a great time. Don't hesitate to book this place. I am sure we will be back when we can!

It was perfectly clean with comfortable beds and pillows - it's clear that the owners also stay here and they care about the comfort level. It's beautiful and secluded, which was great for us since we have young children; no noise from others, and nobody bothered if we had a crying baby. The DVDs, games, and book selections were greatly appreciated - it's just so nice to have those things already on hand for rainy days or early evenings in. And the location was good too, just about a 10 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor. One thing I would note is that although the website boasts a "stone chimney and wood stove" for "cooler nights," guest use of these was not permitted while we were there. It wasn't a big deal for us, but if it is for you, you might want to ask about that. They do have central heat, which we did need to use in early June. Another thing I would note is there is no Wi-Fi, so unless you have an iphone it's hard to call places or google rainy-day stuff to do. There are internet cafes in downtown Bar Harbor but of course that's ten minutes away. So you might want to do your research and come armed with addresses and telephone numbers of local places. If you do that, it's kind of nice to have a week away from the internet. Last - bring bug spray, it is in the woods. Oh one more thing - the two full bathrooms are nice and big and we were actually able to sleep our baby in the downstairs bathroom, using a monitor. This enabled us to put our toddler in the second bedroom and sleep in the master bedroom ourselves. Definitely recommend this place.

Large rooms with a couch, multiple recliners, and stove to enjoy a fire. The views were beautiful! This place was clean with a lovely fully equipped kitchen and renovated bathrooms. The staff were super friendly. The owners loaned us pots to boil our lobster that were freshly caught by the locals. Enjoyed the sunset. Visited nearby Acadia NP. Still family owned, 1 of only 3 in the area. Our family has decided this is the best place we have ever stayed and we have traveled extensively.

David made us very welcome when we arrived and gave us the orientation talk on the island, giving us a couple of local newspapers and marking down worthwhile sights on the maps before showing us to our 'cottage'. I'd actually describe the cottage as more of a beach hut (we had one of the smaller ones), but it had everything in it and was only a few yards from the water's edge with great views over Salisbury Cove. There was a porch with chairs and table where you could sit and watch the sunset. Very pleasant. Inside, the cottage was scrupulously clean, there is a small kitchen area with stove and coffee maker etc. if you wanted to eat in. It could have done with an electric kettle to make tea with, although you could use the coffee maker to boil water I guess. There's a small heater in the wall that we used a few times as we had a couple of rainy days during our stay. Best of all was the shower - great water pressure and piping hot. A great start to the morning. Followed by a cup of complementary coffee from reception, we were all set to go and explore. So thanks to David and Jayne - we really enjoyed our few days here and would gladly return in future.

NEW OWNERS AS OF MARCH 2025…read more If you're looking for a quiet place to rest before catching the sunrise, I highly recommend Eden Valley in Bar Harbor. They offer both motel-style rooms and cottages--though I can only speak to the motel room, as I didn't stay in a cottage. I met the two new owners, sisters from New York, who were actively making upgrades and working on the landscaping. They were incredibly kind and accommodating, even placing me in a room away from other guests so I could enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. The room was clean and comfortable, with great amenities. The bed was cozy, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the rate was very reasonable--about $100 with tax. The only downside was the water pressure in the shower and a slight delay before the hot water kicked in. Other than that, no complaints. Check-in was super convenient. Instead of keys or cards, they use a keypad system with a code programmed specifically for each guest--reset after every stay. Great for travelers who are in and out. There's no on-site restaurant, but the motel is only five minutes from town. The property features a scenic view of a field and trees, plus a pond and small play structure. If you're planning to spend most of your time exploring the area and just need a quiet, comfortable place to sleep, this is a fantastic choice. Good parking, great people, and a relaxing environment. Would 100% stay again.

We had to pack up everything and move from Room 6 to Room 27 in the middle of the night. And to make things worse, they gave us the wrong key code to the new room, so we were stuck outside for a while. What really made the experience worse was the lack of professionalism from John, the person in charge. He wasn't helpful, never apologized, and didn't seem to care at all about the inconvenience. Not even a "sorry" after making us do all that at midnight. It was a very frustrating and disappointing start to our trip. I would not recommend staying here, especially if you're expecting basic hospitality and accountability.

Update - the property has been since taken off airbnb…read more EDIT: Susan, Let's be honest. Your reply is incredibly unprofessional, and I have receipts from our conversations which show we never consented to you coming in. I can attach these but really it won't make you look good. You said "I can contact the homeowners tomorrow". By "resetting it", you went into one of the bedrooms while we were away and our suitcases were open. Also as consumers, we are allowed to leave our feedback where we feel it is necessary, but you seem to be lashing out here. We first reached out to you about 16 hours before our check out with the feedback, and my review is based on how you took that feedback and have acted on it negatively since then. Susan, also to say you didn't interact with me - It's funny! You were interacting directly with me and the whole group this whole time over Airbnb group chat. You don't think we designated one person to message the host? :D Adding here as well that my "just so you know" was about you not replying to us saying you left no laundry detergent. After seeing other one star reviews on Google, I do wonder if that is a ploy so you can say we trashed the place. Lucky we took photos and you said "looks great!" as parting messages ---------- I'm very disappointed with my recent stay in Sullivan, Maine, at a property managed by Susan. When we booked through Airbnb, we thought we were renting from a local host. Only after arrival did we realize the property was part of a large management company--Simply Rentals USA--which Susan oversees. That impersonal approach defined the rest of our experience. From the beginning, we felt dismissed. One of the first things we noticed was mold on the toilet paper roll. It was damp, discolored, and had visible black and brown spots--clearly unsanitary. We were disturbed and had to go out and buy our own toilet paper. When we messaged Susan privately about it, her only reply was, "weird about the tp!"--completely brushing off a very real hygiene issue. There were also serious safety concerns with the layout of the house. A wooden staircase to the loft juts into a walkthrough area, forcing anyone taller than 5'5" to duck awkwardly or risk getting hurt. My husband and mother-in-law both slammed into it during the night and hurt their shoulders. When we raised this with Susan, she again shrugged it off, saying, "We tried putting rubber bumpers on those steps but they just fell off." There was no acknowledgment of how dangerous this setup could be for guests. The WiFi was another major issue. Despite the listing claiming internet access, we had no usable connection throughout our stay--not a single bar. We brought this up multiple times, hoping for a resolution. But what happened next was far beyond an inconvenience. While we were out one day, Susan entered the property without our knowledge or consent. She later told us she did so to "check the WiFi." This is a clear violation of guest privacy and Airbnb policy. Whether or not she believed it was necessary, entering a guest's private space without permission--especially while their belongings are left unattended--is completely unacceptable. Even worse, her response to our concern wasn't an apology. It wasn't an explanation. It was, "well the listing does say slow WiFi," followed by a winking face emoji. Not only did this fail to address the seriousness of what happened--it came off as smug and dismissive. We reported the incident to Airbnb's emergency support, and they offered to relocate us. That alone should tell you how serious this situation was. Susan, this could have been handled with professionalism, care, and respect for your guests. Instead, you ignored safety concerns, dismissed basic hygiene issues, and violated our privacy. Guests deserve better. To the homeowners, your home was lovely and I would be open to booking directly from you myself in the future. The issue is with management and not with the house or homeowner. Simply Rentals USA (Owner) 36 minutes ago I am floored by this! All of the information was given to me upon checkout and I addressed it. What can I do for you when you are letting me know when you are checking out? The Wi-Fi issue was addressed immediately and I told you I would come to check it out the next day, and did. I reported back that the wifi is mentioned in the listing as being an issue, apologized, and said I have a call in to the company. Its not being dismissive telling you that we disclose that the wifi is unreliable at this property in the listing. Hopefully you will let the next host know about any issues while you are staying so that they have an option to help you and fix it! I certainly could have supplied toilet paper when I told you I would be by to check the . (See google review comment for more)
