If I could give Bar Harbor Cottages & Suites 10 stars, I would! This place is beyond charming and whimsical. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and whoever designed these rooms made brilliant use of every inch of space, creating a comfortable and functional stay without sacrificing character. The décor perfectly captures the Bar Harbor, Maine vibe, with gorgeous antiques and thoughtful touches throughout. The entire property is exceptionally well maintained, from the cottages themselves to the beautiful grounds. Everything you could possibly need is provided. Check-in was seamless and incredibly easy. We especially appreciated the amenities, including the fire pit, grills, and outdoor games. Our cottage had the most adorable porch, which was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The location is ideal--close enough to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for convenience, yet far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet away from the crowds. Loved our 4 night stay In these quaint, charming & Clean cottages. Nice to rest & relax in Maine after having run the Boston Marathon. Cottages have all the amenities of home but getting down to basics. The first day we arrived late so they left cottage door open with lights on & keys on the table. Would highly recommend these cottages. Close enough to Acadia National Park & the busy Bar Harbor City - just 6-8 miles away. They charge everywhere for parking in Bar Harbor so we only went there when we had to. There were many great places to eat without having to go Into the city of Bar Harbor. A lovely group fire pit with great lighting if anyone wanted to sit by the fire. All residents were quiet even though it was at full vacancy which was a common theme at most hotel, motels & resorts. read more

This was the PERFECT location for our family get together. We rented 4 cottages for our 3 adult children and their others and one for my husband and myself. The cottages were absolutely adorable and had everything we needed. We loved the screened in porches with each cottage and loved having our coffee out there in the morning and the fire pit was beautiful and a great place to unwind as a family at the end of the night. The beds were comfy and it was clean. My husband and I enjoyed sitting out front in the Adirondack chairs and relaxing in the afternoon while looking at the water across the street. So pretty! The owners were amazing and welcoming. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again. The perfect spot for all that is Bar Harbor. Can't recommend this enough! Great place to stay! read more

This place was fantastic. They were quaint, clean and charming little cottages. The bedding smelled great compared to stale hotels! It had everything we needed for a short stay - coffee pot, refrigerator, stove, etc., etc. The grounds were neatly decorated and the owner seemed friendly. We stayed in the Bar Harbor Cottages & Suites in October 2023 during our holiday trip of USA East coast. We loved its quiet location, and found the small cottage charming and functional. The only isue we had was lack of power outlets in convenient locations (next to a table). We travelled from Australia and carried multiple mobile devices and photo cameras, all required batteries' charging. Apart from that overall experience was good. read more

Three nights as a base for Acadia - just a perfect location. Owners are lovely people and very attentive - couldn't be nicer. Cabin was clean, well thought out and had everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay at Bar Harbor Cottages very much. The property is quaint and so inviting - exactly what we are looking for in our trip to Maine. The location is perfect- just a few minutes from the Village, yet set in the country. And a hop, skip and jump from Acadia Park entrance (across the street). We decided to stay here during our visit to Acadia National Park -- great proximity to Bar Habor and the local fanfare -- the general location is quiet and well removed from the chaos, though the construction on the road for the bike lanes made it annoying to commute in during the night where there is no street lights. The cottage was adorable, cozy and nice -- we were glad there was a heater and an air conditioner as both were needed in the sporadic New England weather. The bed was indeed quite uncomfortable though, very hard and no real padding. Despite that, the kitchenette was useful and the staff was welcoming and warm. I enjoyed how much space we actually had, it almost felt like a real get-away. Fortunately for us, the neighbors was respectful of noise and kept entirely to themselves. Overall, worth the stay, would definitely recommend upgrading the bedding/mattress, otherwise clean, well maintained and a pleasant visit. Thank you! read more

I stayed here with four friends recently for a couple nights. The price is certainly reasonable, as we each spent about $80 each total for the two night stay. The thing to remember is that this is a discount cabin, so don't expect four star accommodations. However, as far as I'm concerned, if you're staying in the Bar Harbor area, you should be spending most of your time outdoors, so all you really need is a clean place to sleep and shower. With five of us in the cabin, I think we were a tiny bit cramped as there were two (full/queen) beds and a couch. I think the cabin would have been better for four, but we made do. The screened porch was a nice surprise, and it was very nice to sit out there in the morning with the sun shining in. The bathroom was a bit tight, and the shower was probably the biggest disappointment. I not all that tall, and even still, the showerhead was at eye level. I felt bad for my taller friends I stayed with. Also, the water pressure was dismally weak. That really was the only strong negative I had about the place. As for other aspects to be aware of, there isn't daily room cleaning. This is fine with me, but it may be an issue for others. They have a large barn that they open up in the morning where you can go grab fresh towels. I don't know if they expect you to take out your own trash, but we did at the end of our stay as they provided an open trash bin area. Parking was a little tight, and if others are less than considerate some people may have trouble parking. Although, everyone seemed laid back enough so that when I and others were asked to move our cars, we didn't make a fuss. It's really only a problem at night when everyone is back, since, as I said before, you should be out seeing the park when you're here. We were able to borrow a grill one night at no charge, we just had to ask for it in the morning to be sure that they'd have one available. There is wifi at the site, but the signal isn't super strong, and I had to walk outside closer to the office to get a signal. Overall, I'd say this is a good, economy place to stay if you're up to visit Acadia. The staff was helpful and friendly and offered lots of advice about what to do and see around town and in the park. read more

Bar Harbor Cottages & Suites was an excellent option for my recent trip to Maine! Four of us stayed in a one bedroom (two beds) cottage. The cottage was small, but offered just what we needed since we spent minimal time inside. We loved eating out on the picnic table and the cottage was clean and had all necessary amenities. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They have a barn with extra towels, bedding, and anything you may need -- guests are encouraged to visit the barn to take whatever they may need. We even received a call when we left one day early to make sure everything was alright -- absolutely wonderful service! The cottages are in an absolutely beautiful area, right down the street from the MDI Bio Lab, and across the street from the beach. It was about a ten-15 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor and only 5-10 minutes to Acadia National Park. We had an absolutely perfect stay! Thank you BH Cottages and Suites! read more

This was our first trip to Maine and this place is perfect for those looking for a cheap, CLEAN place to stay to take advantage of the the outdoors. The cabins are small. Ours was a studio cabin, #8, and I wondered if it was a large backyard shed that had been converted. The shower bath is extremely small, but serviceable, the bed a little hard, but the kitchenette was wonderful to have breakfast on our own schedule before heading out for the day. Old Bar Harbor Road is four miles out of downtown Bar Harbor, so the area is very quiet. They have wifi in every cabin. We did not have a problem with the signal. Only the Verizon person of the pair had cell phone service, so the wifi was very much appreciated. Again, nothing here is new or plush but I cannot emphasize enough how clean the place was. If you are looking for a place to sleep while you explore the park, this place is for you. Also, the service was excellent. The only accommodation this place doesn't have is laundry facilities. Getting sweaty and wet from the water, this is the only inconvenience. I would have paid to have close access to laundry facilities. FYI - even though you can see the water across the street, another motel/cottage business owns the property across the street and you are not welcome there unless you are their customer. So you'll have to stick to the public beaches or harbor access. But the place across the street is at least $25 more per night, so you have to decide how you want to spend your money. read more

Cute place. Clean and reasonably priced. As another reviewer stated, very small. We rented a one bedroom cottage for a week for two people. I would not have wanted anyone else in with us, but for 2 it was fine. Bathroom could use a little more space. Lovely staff whom we met upon arrival. Quiet grounds. Even though neighbors are 20 feet away, the place is very quiet. Grounds are well maintained. Amenities available in barn (extra towels, hair dryers, soap, etc.). Cabins have a screened porch, AC and wifi. Great location. So easy to travel into Bar Harbor and to Acadia. Minutes away. Don't expect anything fancy and updated, but the cabin we stayed in was perfectly adequate for our needs. And it was clean. Antique furnishings are adorable. read more

These little cottages were cute and quaint for the price. They had all the amenities necessary during our short stay. The location was great not to far from the downtown area. It was easy to find from the directions provided on the website. My husband and I just came back after a long weekend in Bar Harbor and the cottages while cute, clean and charming they could definitely use an update. In addition to an update the bed in our cottage was like a brick to sleep on leaving our back sore after our trip. I also wish there was a fire pit on the property where guests could all come to congregate and relax under the summer night sky, maybe in the future. Finally our host at the cottages Laura, I must say she was excellent! We got to the cottage earlier than check in time but she gave us a whole run down of places to go and check out while we were in town. We actually did everything she recommended too! It was everything we had not done on our previous trip. Overall the cottages were a nice stay but while the bed was hard and cottages were in close proximity to one another I would still recommend this as a place to stay for anyone looking to be close to downtown and for anyone looking for some classic old school charm! read more

The information file in the cottages was very useful and had a map and suggestions for first time visitors. We had a great and memorable time especially as this was our last stop of a week long tri-state roadtrip and rather than feeling exhausted we were energized.
