I went to Pammy's on Friday for a girls dinner. Pammy's reservations are interesting. You can only make for up to 5 people and if you make a reservation, you have to do the prix fixe menu. However, you can walk in and order a la carte. The prix fixe menu has 15 items on it and each person picks three items. It's $88 per person not including drinks or dessert. The vibe is cozy/rustic and upscale but not too fancy. There is a community table in the middle of the restaurant but we had a booth that was perfect for 5 girls wanting to chat. The service was really wonderful! Great recommendations and never waited too long for anything! We were able to try 12 of the 15 menu items and we all tried a few bites of each. It was plenty of food! Must haves for me were the kale salad, lasagne bianca and the beef short rib. The dirty martini was also good. Quick review: - go with a small group so you can order lots of dishes on the menu and share. - expect the bill to be at least $150 a person if you have 1-2 drinks. - be open to trying foods you have never had or usually shy away from. read more

Honestly the food was a bit of a let down :(( The lasagna was really good and the sauce with the beef tongue was also super yummy. The rest were not as good as I hoped, the flavors didn't feel that special or delicious. They were alright, just not worth the hype or price. However, the service was definitely amazing. We started with the guava and smoke show cocktails, which were both delicious! My boyfriend and I were celebrating his 30th birthday and decided to do the pre-fixe menu. We shared everything and got the fried oysters, the baby kale, the lumache, the lasagna Bianca, the lamb, and the pork Milanese. Truly there were no misses, but the lamb and lumache were out of this world! Creative, choose your own adventure menu with excellent service and a nice, but noisy ambiance. Standouts were the lumache (their unofficial signature dish), duck, short rib, pork Milanese and branzino. The branzino was delicate and it went nicely with the strawberry gastrique. The short rib was so tender you didn't need a knife. And the milanese was nice and crispy and balanced with the refreshing jicama and arugula. The portions for some of the dishes were quite small, like the grilled oysters and brussel sprouts, but our table generally liked most of the dishes. The butter tart was the star for dessert. Drinks were a bit hit or miss, my fav was probably the golden hour cocktail. They staggered the dishes but there was a fair amount of waiting in between, we were there for about 2.5 hours. Branzino was tasty, it came with a tiny piece of fennel but overall nothing special. The only impressive dish was salmon crudo. I guess we just got lucky because the restaurant was certainly packed. From start to finish, everything was outstanding. We ordered three pasta dishes, a venison entrée, and two desserts -- and every single item exceeded our expectations. The flavors were rich, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. Our server was warm, attentive, and made the evening even more enjoyable. It's rare to find a spot where both the food and service are equally top-notch, but Pammy's delivered on both fronts. The ambiance of pammy's is 10/10 - the decor is sophisticated and moody while still feeling warm and homey. We were seated at the community table which was a fun environment to be with other diners but still intimate enough to talk with our own party. We did the $88 prefix menu and started our "adventure" with the shaved brussel sprouts and fried oysters. The brussel sprouts were refreshing and light, paired well with the bluefin tuna but overall a small dish. The fried oysters were DELICIOUS, they were both light and savory. Our second round consisted of lobster biscotti - sooooo creamy with a strong lobster flavor. My overall favorite dish was the lumache - a gochujang bolognese. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce was both spicy and creamy, and paired so well with the ground meat. For a romantic Valentine's Day dinner, we chose Pammy's in Cambridge, enticed by its reputation as a cozy yet sophisticated restaurant. The ambiance was charming, with tasteful decor that set the perfect mood for the evening (flowers in the tables, candles and fireplaces). Despite having reserved seats at a shared table, the arrangement was thoughtfully designed, ensuring ample space and some privacy. Upon seating, our waitress graciously offered to take our coats, making the experience convenient and seamless. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary amuse-bouche--a citrus pepper cream--and a glass of champagne. The amuse-bouche, contrary to its citrus implication, presented a savory profile with a gravy-like consistency, which was certainly amusing. Accompanying the champagne was house-made sourdough bread with olive oil, both of which were exceptional. The menu offered a three-course selection for $150 per person. I opted for the squid ink gnocchi, bay scallops, and lamb saddle. Curiously, the pasta course preceded the scallops, but I had no problem with that especially once I tasted the dish. The gnocchi, tender and pillowy, paired exquisitely with the lobster, while the furikake gave the dish a nuanced sesame complexity. My partner had the Lumache Bolognese, which looked delicious and received rave reviews from her, but I would not have traded my gnocchi for anything. The bay scallops, accompanied by squash and a vermouth sauce, was such a fine dish, the scallops delicate sweetness was highlighted by the sauce's depth. My partner selected the mussels which I also tasted and were equally delicious. For the main course, the lamb saddle was presented with polenta and radish. While I love lamb, the dish's was overwhelmed by the polenta and radish, which dominated the palate, and a slightly overzealous hand with the salt. On the other hand, my partner's branzino was a little dry and bland. To complement the meal, I had the Smokehouse cocktail--a mezcal-based concoction with pineapple and lime. The drink was very balanced, strong but refreshing and sweet. Throughout the evening, our waitress went above and beyond with her hospitality, frequently checking-in to see how we weee doing. For dessert, offered à la carte, we had the chocolate cake and panna cotta. Regrettably, both desserts failed to impress. In hindsight, I would have foregone dessert to savor the lingering flavors of the preceding courses. Our Valentine's soirée at Pammy's was ingrained with romance and culinary artistry. However, given the price point--approaching $500-- I expect perfection and the main courses and dessert fell a little short. Yet we loved the hospitality, the drinks and most of the food. We will have to visit again during a less frenetic occasion which may offer an even better experience. read more

Every dish was exquisite. However, in my opinion if you don't try the Lobster Bisque, you have missed out! The service was top notch: smiles, helpful attitude, and friendly without being pushy. Pammy's has been on our list for quite a while now. The restaurant has a very cool upscale rustic garden vibe to it. Price wise, it's expensive but the food is very unique and worth trying. That being said, it's not a place we'll be going to more than once every few years. We selected 6 of the of the 13 dishes to try as many things as possible. We ate (in order of how they came and which dishes came out together) - The free bread and oil was really really good. 1. Squid Ink Gnochi. I was really excited about this dish, but it was good not great. 1. Lumache: This appears to be one of the most popular items and something that has been on their menu for years. This was my second favorite dish. 2. Lasagne Bianca: The most interesting lasagna I have ever seen. It was our 4th favorite. 2. Branzino: This was by far the best dish we had. I came here with my mom and boyfriend after hearing great reviews and we were pretty underwhelmed with the food. The restaurant is small, well-decorated, and has a vintage feel. The service was wonderful too. Ultimately, we each ordered an $85 prix fixe which only included three substantive dishes and a gratis dessert, which felt steep. We shared everything, but we each got an appetizer, pasta, and protein entree. For apps, we got the salmon crudo, the mussels, and the grilled oysters. The salmon had uni and some sauce, and for some reason, the flavors just didn't come together for me. My BF and I were a bit disappointed that the mussels consisted of 5 mussels that were already removed from their shells. Both of us also bit into rocks for two mussels. The staff apologized, but it still was pretty disappointing to have that quality. The pastas were ok. The best was the gojuchang lumanche, but we felt underwhelmed by the lasagne bianca and the cauli tortelloni. We then got the branzino, the poussin (chicken), and the pork Milanese. For these, I was just kind of shocked that they included only protein (no sides). Like, the branzino was three pieces of fish, which came across a bit plain. Our server was fantastic, guiding us through the menu without being overbearing. Dishes (6 for two): 1. Squid Ink Gnocchi with Lobster (3.5/5) - Good first bite, but became too rich and heavy. 2. Yakitori Chicken (5/5) - Amazing starter. Flavorful chicken paired beautifully with peaches and oolong crema. Only quirk: unexplained side of lime and radish (which complemented the dish well once explained). 3. Loch Dart Salmon (4/5) - Well-cooked and tasty, but not extraordinary. 4. Lasagne Bianca (5/5) - Highly recommended. Rich, but well-balanced by the cipollini chutney and side salad. 5. Skirt Steak (4.5/5) - Delicious and perfectly cooked. The pepper sauce wasn't my favorite. 6. Lumache (4/5) - Not as good as I remembered. An overpowering herb garnish and slightly oily texture detracted from the dish. Drinks deserve a special mention. The manager was great and I really just enjoyed myself. I want to love pammys but unfortunately it is mid at best. Some dishes were good while others were fine. Portions sizes are extremely small.. especially their Brussels sprouts. We had a wonderful an unique experience for our 37th wedding anniversary last week. We had the lobster bisque the oysters -- they both were really unusually delicious. The lobster bisque was gentle and smooth with delicate lobster pieces and the oysters although not a large portion were remarkable, crisp and tender at the same time. Everything had a delicate element of surprise, but also was familiar somehow. I think that is one of the magic aspects of this restaurant that there's a feeling of connection and unpretentiousness while introducing you to something you might not have imagined. IThe Bella lasagne was a surprise -I was a little bit concerned it would be heavy and it was like a cloud The whole experience was wonderful, our server was friendly and approachable, and the atmosphere was warm .My husband's comment was we are definitely coming back again!! My wife and I were seated in a corner which worked out well. The table was decorated in a lovely way, red flowers in vases and autumn gourds for the season. I did find the noise level to be slightly elevated. The food was a little underwhelming to be honest but still quite good. I had the grilled oysters which were delicious but was expecting a bit more of a portion. The lumache was satisfying, just as I had expected it to be, not too spicy but a substantial enough portion. The black bass was all right but a little lacking in flavor. My wife's pork Milanese was a much better bet. But a stellar affogato closed out the meal. A cozy area with a fireplace, a long wooden farm table adorned with beautiful flowers where patrons dined in pairs. My husband and I were seated at a very roomy booth. A friend recommended this restaurant so we gave it a try. We made a reservation for Wednesday night at dinner time. Warning: If you make a reservation, they asked to put a credit card in file (can cancel up to the day before, but if you don't show, you will pay. For 2, I think it was around 140 or 150). The decor was very simple yet sophisticated. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the staff and sat at our table. We sat at a very large table, and throughout the night, other parties joined the table. With the reservation, we knew that we'd have a fixed menu, and we'd be able to pick three items from it. It was a little unclear if drinks were included in that price and dessert was not. The food was tasty. However, the salmon was slightly undercooked for my taste and incredible salty. With the other food dishes and dessert, I definitely felt satisfied when I left. Our waitress wasn't the friendlist. She was kind of abrupt at times and seemed annoyed that we got caught up in conversation instead of looking at the menu. Furthermore, the restaurant wasn't very busy (it was before a holiday) and we stayed after our meal to talk. It was almost closing time, and there were other patrons in the restaurant still eating when they asked us to leave. However, it was a little abrupt and not the friendlist. I normally spit an app and take home half my entree. It was a girls night, and my friend eats like a bird. While I appreciate the generous portion sizes, we were struggling to finish our portions. We shared our food, and ordered 6 dishes total as required. What got me was the gochujang bologenese. I lived in Korea, cook korean food regularly and loved gochujang. My family immigrated from Italy and I make fresh pasta and bolognaese on the regular. Seemed to me the two n'ere shall meet. My friend wanted to try this dish. I was vehemently opposed. The waiter came and specifically recommended it (perhaps becuase he was seeking to get rid of extra portions?). It was revolting. It tasted EXACTLY like i thought it would taste. The fresh pasta was good. The gochujang was high quality. It was gross and a bad combination. I seriously question if the waiter was trying to get rid of a poor seller. I cook both these cuisines on a weekly basis and they are some of my comfort dishes. You should not put gochujang on fresh pasta with nothing else. Maybe fresh rice cakes but I would add a few more ingredients, but fresh pasta shudder... The 6% service fee plus the whole pre fixe thing felt like a money grab. My boyfriend and I came here for an early Valentine's Day dinner and it was hands down one of the best dinning experiences I have had in Boston.
