I went to Pammy's on Friday for a girls dinner. Pammy's reservations are interesting. You can only make for up to 5 people and if you make a reservation, you have to do the prix fixe menu. However, you can walk in and order a la carte. The prix fixe menu has 15 items on it and each person picks three items. It's $88 per person not including drinks or dessert. There is a community table in the middle of the restaurant but we had a booth that was perfect for 5 girls wanting to chat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was really wonderful! Wow wow wow! Truly one of the most amazing meals I've ever had! From the food to the service to the overall vibe, everything was perfect! We started with the guava and smoke show cocktails, which were both delicious! My boyfriend and I were celebrating his 30th birthday and decided to do the pre-fixe menu. We shared everything and got the fried oysters, the baby kale, the lumache, the lasagna Bianca, the lamb, and the pork Milanese. Truly there were no misses, but the lamb and lumache were out of this world! Love the experience of pammy's - a perfect spot to wow a date, celebrate an anniversary, or just treat yourself with plans. The ambiance of pammy's is 10/10 - the decor is sophisticated and moody while still feeling warm and homey. We were seated at the community table which was a fun environment to be with other diners but still intimate enough to talk with our own party. We did the $88 prefix menu and started our "adventure" with the shaved brussel sprouts and fried oysters. The brussel sprouts were refreshing and light, paired well with the bluefin tuna but overall a small dish. The fried oysters were DELICIOUS, they were both light and savory. Our second round consisted of lobster biscotti - sooooo creamy with a strong lobster flavor. My overall favorite dish was the lumache - a gochujang bolognese. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce was both spicy and creamy, and paired so well with the ground meat. Our final round was the halibut and peking duck - which were both just okay in my opinion. The halibut was better, buttery soft and was delicious with the roe and soft sides. I guess we just got lucky because the restaurant was certainly packed. From start to finish, everything was outstanding. We ordered three pasta dishes, a venison entrée, and two desserts -- and every single item exceeded our expectations. The flavors were rich, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. The first to come out was the hamachi crudo, which is usually one of my favorite dishes at other restaurants. Pammy's version was an absurdly small portion, very low on flavor and could have been picked up at the grocery store. The lumache was dried pasta with a sauce drown in gochujang. The lobster biscotto was more what I was expecting, full of flavor and a nice presentation. The 6% service fee slapped on the bill (plus tip) was hard to swallow. For a romantic Valentine's Day dinner, we chose Pammy's in Cambridge, enticed by its reputation as a cozy yet sophisticated restaurant. The ambiance was charming, with tasteful decor that set the perfect mood for the evening (flowers in the tables, candles and fireplaces). Despite having reserved seats at a shared table, the arrangement was thoughtfully designed, ensuring ample space and some privacy. Upon seating, our waitress graciously offered to take our coats, making the experience convenient and seamless. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary amuse-bouche--a citrus pepper cream--and a glass of champagne. The amuse-bouche, contrary to its citrus implication, presented a savory profile with a gravy-like consistency, which was certainly amusing. Accompanying the champagne was house-made sourdough bread with olive oil, both of which were exceptional. The menu offered a three-course selection for $150 per person. I opted for the squid ink gnocchi, bay scallops, and lamb saddle. Curiously, the pasta course preceded the scallops, but I had no problem with that especially once I tasted the dish. The gnocchi, tender and pillowy, paired exquisitely with the lobster, while the furikake gave the dish a nuanced sesame complexity. My partner had the Lumache Bolognese, which looked delicious and received rave reviews from her, but I would not have traded my gnocchi for anything. The bay scallops, accompanied by squash and a vermouth sauce, was such a fine dish, the scallops delicate sweetness was highlighted by the sauce's depth. My partner selected the mussels which I also tasted and were equally delicious. For the main course, the lamb saddle was presented with polenta and radish. While I love lamb, the dish's was overwhelmed by the polenta and radish, which dominated the palate, and a slightly overzealous hand with the salt. On the other hand, my partner's branzino was a little dry and bland. To complement the meal, I had the Smokehouse cocktail--a mezcal-based concoction with pineapple and lime. The drink was very balanced, strong but refreshing and sweet. Throughout the evening, our waitress went above and beyond with her hospitality, frequently checking-in to see how we weee doing. For dessert, offered à la carte, we had the chocolate cake and panna cotta. Regrettably, both desserts failed to impress. In hindsight, I would have foregone dessert to savor the lingering flavors of the preceding courses. Our Valentine's soirée at Pammy's was ingrained with romance and culinary artistry. However, given the price point--approaching $500-- I expect perfection and the main courses and dessert fell a little short. Yet we loved the hospitality, the drinks and most of the food. I came here with my mom and boyfriend after hearing great reviews and we were pretty underwhelmed with the food. The restaurant is small, well-decorated, and has a vintage feel. The service was wonderful too. Ultimately, we each ordered an $85 prix fixe which only included three substantive dishes and a gratis dessert, which felt steep. We shared everything, but we each got an appetizer, pasta, and protein entree. For apps, we got the salmon crudo, the mussels, and the grilled oysters. The salmon had uni and some sauce, and for some reason, the flavors just didn't come together for me. My BF and I were a bit disappointed that the mussels consisted of 5 mussels that were already removed from their shells. Both of us also bit into rocks for two mussels. The staff apologized, but it still was pretty disappointing to have that quality. The pastas were ok. The best was the gojuchang lumanche, but we felt underwhelmed by the lasagne bianca and the cauli tortelloni. We then got the branzino, the poussin (chicken), and the pork Milanese. For these, I was just kind of shocked that they included only protein (no sides). Like, the branzino was three pieces of fish, which came across a bit plain. We had a wonderful an unique experience for our 37th wedding anniversary last week. We had the lobster bisque the oysters -- they both were really unusually delicious. The lobster bisque was gentle and smooth with delicate lobster pieces and the oysters although not a large portion were remarkable, crisp and tender at the same time. Everything had a delicate element of surprise, but also was familiar somehow. I think that is one of the magic aspects of this restaurant that there's a feeling of connection and unpretentiousness while introducing you to something you might not have imagined. I want to love pammys but unfortunately it is mid at best. Some dishes were good while others were fine. Portions sizes are extremely small.. especially their Brussels sprouts. A friend recommended this restaurant so we gave it a try. We made a reservation for Wednesday night at dinner time. Warning: If you make a reservation, they asked to put a credit card in file (can cancel up to the day before, but if you don't show, you will pay. For 2, I think it was around 140 or 150). We sat at a very large table, and throughout the night, other parties joined the table. With the reservation, we knew that we'd have a fixed menu, and we'd be able to pick three items from it. It was a little unclear if drinks were included in that price and dessert was not. The food was tasty. However, the salmon was slightly undercooked for my taste and incredible salty. With the other food dishes and dessert, I definitely felt satisfied when I left. Our waitress wasn't the friendlist. She was kind of abrupt at times and seemed annoyed that we got caught up in conversation instead of looking at the menu. Furthermore, the restaurant wasn't very busy (it was before a holiday) and we stayed after our meal to talk. Came here with a friend who wanted to try it. The price tag was extremely, extremely expensive as you had to order 3 dishes per person as a pre fixe. I normally spit an app and take home half my entree. It was a girls night, and my friend eats like a bird. While I appreciate the generous portion sizes, we were struggling to finish our portions. We shared our food, and ordered 6 dishes total as required. What got me was the gochujang bologenese. I lived in Korea, cook korean food regularly and loved gochujang. My family immigrated from Italy and I make fresh pasta and bolognaese on the regular. Seemed to me the two n'ere shall meet. My friend wanted to try this dish. I was vehemently opposed. The waiter came and specifically recommended it (perhaps becuase he was seeking to get rid of extra portions?). It was revolting. It tasted EXACTLY like i thought it would taste. The fresh pasta was good. The gochujang was high quality. It was gross and a bad combination. I seriously question if the waiter was trying to get rid of a poor seller. I cook both these cuisines on a weekly basis and they are some of my comfort dishes. You should not put gochujang on fresh pasta with nothing else. Maybe fresh rice cakes but I would add a few more ingredients, but fresh pasta shudder... The 6% service fee plus the whole pre fixe thing felt like a money grab. The beef short rib, although soft, had a strange dry powdery almost crumbly texture which I think comes from cooking it then freezing it then slicing it and reheating it to order. The service was mostly good aside from one small communication issue, even if it was slow. We had a lot of time in between courses and ended up there for longer than we intended, 2.5 hours in total. I ordered a drink with a bourbon I liked, which I saw sitting on the back of the bar. The server returned and let me know they didn't have that bourbon. I said okay because I was too uncomfortable to argue, and she offered me another bourbon that I liked. I asked what a pour would cost to ensure the markup at the restaurant wasn't excessive, as it was a nicer option, and she didn't know. I said that was okay and that I decided I would just have the drink with that bourbon anyway, regardless of the cost, as it was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself. She was surprised, said she'd keep it in mind that it was my birthday, and that she'd go take care of the drink order. When she returned, it was with a drink made from a third bourbon that I didn't ask for or agree to. I was disappointed I didn't get the liquor that I chose and was excited to treat myself with. I'm not sure why the order was changed when I mentioned it was my birthday, as nothing on the final bill was discounted in any way (not that it should have been, I was just confused by what happened with my drink order). Unfortunately I also did not enjoy the flavors the bourbon contributed to the final drink. The food was good. Nothing was bad or unpleasant, and clear effort was put into the recipes and presentation. The only stand outs were the brussels sprouts and the milanese. Everything else was okay or good. The cavatappi with romesco was not to my taste, but just because the romesco sauces I have had before had a little more acidity. Others might enjoy it more. Dessert (not included) was good, I liked my affogato. This review is specifically for New Year's Eve. Any restaurant professional would know that by creating a booked, pre-paid, significantly higher-priced holiday event, they are creating additional expectations. These expectations are the precise reason someone would be more than willing to pay $150 to dine somewhere which costs $88 any other night. Pammy's had no intention of providing a unique experience or meeting those expectations in exchange for the higher price paid, and setting your guests up with expectations you will never meet is going to leave them feeling unsatisfied. I know that it's on me, the customer, to understand exactly what I'm paying for/signing up for when I make a prepaid reservation at a restaurant with a $50 per-person cancellation fee. But I would never have anticipated that a highly regarded restaurant like Pammy's would present a special holiday event for a 70% upcharge which offers next to nothing additional or unique. I did try my best to look for information on the NYE menu and event on Pammy's website and the OpenTable listing, however, the information provided was minimal and vague. As someone who was really excited for a special menu/experience, after paying an additional $120 for the same 3 plate prix fixe menu they serve every day, I walked out feeling taken advantage of. Actually, one of the nicer dishes was missing from the menu entirely. There was one NYE special, an optional upgrade to the pasta course for an additional 75 dollars, and we got one complimentary splash of champagne (every restaurant that serves wine does this on NYE). As a business, you have every right to price your food and experience however you want. In retrospect, however, this feels like it was an intentional trick. Holiday and birthday aside, it would be insane and egregious to charge that much for food and service of the quality we experienced. I would never have considered dining at Pammy's if this menu and this pricing were more clearly presented. I would have dined somewhere with a more appealing menu for a similar price, or somewhere with similar offerings and better execution for hundreds of dollars less. The experience we had didn't measure up to competition in the $200 dollar range, forget the nearly $500 dollars our check totalled with gratuity, tax, and kitchen fees tacked on. The local offerings you could enjoy at that price for 2 people would figuratively laugh Pammy's menu out of the room. I don't think that the management here actually believed that people would happily pay $150 for their regular 3 course menu. i think they kept it vague intentionally and hoped most people wouldn't notice, and I think they were perfectly okay with those who did notice having a negative experience so long as they paid their bill at the end. This destroyed any respect I have for this establishment along with any desire to ever return. I am sure others would have a better time on any other night, but I highly discourage anyone from booking any holidays here. read more

The food and service were really good, our waiter was fun and kept things moving. I didn't love the price fix menu as it felt over priced depending on the selections you made. Wow this place is a must try for anyone in Boston looking for food that's as delicious as it is unique. My boyfriend and I came here for an early Valentine's Day dinner and it was hands down one of the best dinning experiences I have had in Boston. The decor is really cozy and has a great feel for a date or girls night. The service was also excellent and went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. The food was delish but I will say it is catered more towards someone who is more adventurous with their food. Not a single thing that we ate was disappointing.
