If you don't want to read this dissertation of a review, I overall do recommend Seasons Beach Cottage. I stayed there from May 30, 2024 to June 27, 2024. Admissions process, stay, food, therapy modalities, staff, and facilitators are all A+. I took a star off for the experience I had with the MD and discharge related issues. Admissions: Kathryn was awesome! House staff members: The house manager, site managers, client advocates, and chefs were all genuinely kind, helpful, and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I am a highly anxious person, even more so in new environments. I felt safe and reassured throughout my entire stay. Danielle is an absolute ray of sunshine and gave the best hugs and pep talks when I needed them the most. I could list all of the other staff members I loved, but it'd literally be everyone. Oh, what the heck. Noreen, Nancy, Bryan, Cary, Pepper, Avery, Ray, Veronica, Iyanna, Doris, Rashi- you guys rock! Primary therapy: While at Seasons, you see your therapist three times a week. I was matched with Dr. Q and feel like I got so lucky! She is positive, brilliant, and really helped me reframe my perspectives on things. I'm really happy I got the opportunity to work with her. Craniosacral therapy: Lisa is wonderful. She is so present and engaged throughout the whole session. After the first cranio session I had with her, I felt so relaxed, dizzy, and lightheaded that Lisa had to help me up to my room! Hypnotherapy: My first two sessions were with Barbara and I instantly liked her. Unfortunately, she got sick and my subsequent sessions were with a different hypnotherapist. The replacement practitioner was very nice, but I didn't feel like our sessions were helpful. The morning of my last day, I was scheduled with Barbara via Zoom. That was our first in depth hypnosis session and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was life changing. Barbara has an amazing gift. Brainspotting: I saw Teri who was great. The first session I got nothing, the second session was better than the first, but the third session incurred a breakthrough! It was difficult, but cathartic and eye opening. Spiritual therapy: I saw Audrey and Christine. They are both spiritual therapists, but their approach is VERY different. I really liked them both. Audrey helped me pull my head out of the sand and call things like they are. It was especially helpful with a past relationship and healing my inner child. Christine has this quiet and gentle presence while still being effective and engaging. She helped me reflect on things and I felt like I was able to be vulnerable with her. Somatic therapy: Lynda helped me rediscover the mind-body connection and I realized how in tune I am with my body if I listen to it. Lynda taught me to turn toward difficult emotions without judgement. I found these sessions to be enlightening and Lynda was such a pleasure to work with. Massage therapy: Arlene is the best! She gave me four of the best massages I've ever had. You can tell she takes pride in her work and works hard to ensure you feel relaxed. Acupuncture/Gua Sha: Rachel is excellent at what she does and she is such a kind person! Group therapy: Group therapy was often run by one of the psychologists and they were all great. My favorite group was art therapy! Ako ran the groups and he is insanely talented. He broke down the paintings step by step and would help you if he saw you struggling. Equine therapy: Very memorable and meaningful experience. Chloe is awesome! Case management: I liked my CM and our meetings were like more therapy. I was told I'd still have three months of case management with her post-discharge and encouraged me to call/text whenever I needed her. Psychiatry: Dr. Lozano was nice and helpful. MD: In short, he refused to give me meds my doctor back home prescribed my first week there, which made me feel like he about my intense and chronic pain. Eventually, he acquiesced, but it was quite frustrating. Discharge/post-discharge: CM set me up with an IOP before I left, but it closed the day after I started. She did not help me find another one. New program could not obtain records from Seasons, delaying me starting by a week. CM stopped replying to me two weeks ago and no one from Seasons has checked on me. It's hurtful. read more

Christina designed teas for pain, bedtime and stomach upset for me. She was cautious in asking if there were ingredients i shouldn't have, and reviewing my symptoms to achieve my goals. I requested 3 teas, Pain, Bedtime, and Digestive. Christina did this out of her healing nature and care. With the tea for pain I noticed reduced arthritic swelling in my hands. The digestive brew...o my, I can't express how much I love it. The taste of licorice is sooo good. I always want a second cup even though my tummy settles! Bedtime, very soothing and relaxing. In fact, when my ADD wants to take charge, I brew a cup and it helps me breathe, comfort myself and lower the energy. If you haven't tried her teas see what they are about. The workers who speak Spanish kept talking in Spanish with each other while I was with them and it was uncomfortable because I always thought they were talking about me!!! Some of the meetings they set up for me were so dumb and useless for me! Had nothing to do with why I was there. The food was catered to fit vegan, or vegetarians and some of us were either so we wouldn't eat the food! The staff would lay on the couch with blankets on them as if they were home and watch movies and, during this time they wouldn't address my issues I was having!! The men that worked there were abusive, creepy and unprofessional!! The only people I could trust was Marsha, Dr tregar, and edan! I left early because it became very uncomfortable! The managers would ignore issues I brought to their attention. They put staff first and always defended them because they were all friends! I would never recommend this place!! read more

In short, Seasons in Malibu changed my life. I was there for 90 days and every person, every day helped me recover from the depression I was in. Every person who works at Seasons comes from a place of wanting the clients to succeed and it creates an environment of support that leads to healing and recovery from the mental issues and/or addictions that brought you there. Every day, your schedule includes multiple one-on-one sessions. They offer a wide range of modalities and each practitioner embodies their work so completely and believes in the work so deeply that one cannot help but come away feeling a positive change. The different modalities add up to a wholistic change in yourself by taking on issues from a number of entry points - emotional, spiritual, physical. At first, I was skeptical about a few of the modalities but the practitioners were so well educated and dedicated to their work that I my attitude changed and I reaped the rewards in my recovery. Aga, my case manager was invested from the first session we had together and has kept in touch with me after I discharged. My therapist Dr. Ben is the most talented, insightful therapist as I've had. Also, the COO, Dr. Shilati made herself available for any issues or concerns. It is not necessarily a 12 step recovery center but there are so many people who work there that are in 12 step recovery and literature available that it can feel that way if you are looking for it. They offer transportation every morning and evening to 12 step meetings. Including access to Monday through Friday morning meetings on the beach. The location is Lifeguard Tower 10. Lastly, the facilities are of a 5 Star hotel and the chefs who prepare lunch and dinner every day are supremely talented providing a wide variety of multi-course meals. read more

I'm on day 100 of my Recovery from Cocaine Addiction and have a long way to go. I was wrong about Seasons in Malibu almost didn't go there, but I Did... and graduated. YOU WILL HAVE BAD DAYS THERE. I wanted to leave but my awesome Case Manager Helena Brown really cared and Dr. Ruben got me through some hard spots and Super Stoked I Stuck it out. Be True to your Values don't put up with shit but do the work and at some point between Hypnotherapy with Barbara Carey/Somatic Therapy with Lynda McCloskky and CranialSacral with the yoga lady Lisa Carmichael I had an Awakening that made me Fierce! I was no longer afraid of falling and found the path to Sophrosyne... a healthy state of mind characterized by self control, moderation and a deep awareness of one's true self resulting in Happiness. I'll keep this short and simple. Seasons in Malibu should not be allowed to operate as a rehabilitation and mental health facility. It's a poor business that does not care about the well being of the clients and instead focuses on how much money they can gain out of you. I had a family member attend Seasons and she was treated poorly from the very start. I went on Yelp to write a review so others are aware of the poor experience we had. I can't say I'm shocked to be reading that many others had a negative experience as well! As I'm reading these negative reviews, the wonderful Chief Operating Officer (Dr. Sheila S) decides to respond to the reviews. I imagine she would respond in an emphatic way to try and understand where the issue was to improve for future clients, but NOPE! She is attacking everyone who writes a negative review. That's suspicious.. What are you trying to hide and cover?? I attached pictures of the responses and aren't you also confused by her unprofessional responses? My family spent $50,000+ trying to find the best care for my sister. We put our trust in Seasons and they not only let our family down, but several other families as well. read more

Update: Thank you for the response. To Don V (whom I've never met and have no idea who you are)... I was there for 30 days and there were at least 3 separate power outages (one of which lasted 3 days long itself). Regardless of accommodations, why would there not be a backup generator for all of the Seasons houses, especially considering there are clients consistently cycling through detox each month? Luckily, I was not one of them and did not need excessive care. However, it is not a lie that during the 3 day outage, there was ONE staff member working our house at all times and was not a nurse. We were strictly told by him that he could not make outgoing calls, he couldn't leave the house, and neither could any of us if we needed help as there was no one else there to assist. So, can you please better explain the accommodations that were offered to myself and my housemates? We would ALL agree that the best thing we were offered during this time was to take a quick trip to another house to have a quick shower before returning back to our non-powered house. In response to your comment about a hotel not being an option, I'd like you to know that Dr Shilati and I spoke about this on the phone several weeks ago and she was in fact the one who said we should have been put in a nice hotel during this time. But again, this sadly just backs my opinion even more that Seasons staff are never on the same page and they all have conflicting answers for everything. Also, I did NOT tour the house before admitting. In fact, I flew in and while my bags were being searched during admission I was pushed very hard to finalize the wire payment (which I did) before even being shown any of the rooms. I didn't find out until days later that the ONLY master suite cost $15k extra per month, (which is the room Admissions had initially shown me as what would be my room, but failed to leave out those details). Thank you for being concerned in my sobriety. I am sober to this day and will always be grateful to the therapists I saw during my stay. Could not recommend seasons more to anyone considering! Was in a rough spot before coming there and they helped get me through the hardest parts of my addicition and then, more importantly, address the underlying issues / traumas I had been coping with in negative ways. I've been struggling with alcoholism for years. Decades actually. I've tried various treatment options with some limited, sporadic success. However, a recent medical setback put me into a nosedive from which I was unable to pull out - so I took the radical (for me) step of checking myself into an inpatient facility. I did a fair amount of research and can report that Seasons Malibu was a fantastic choice. I could write an article, but in short: 1) The therapists, of which I saw probably 20 across individual and group sessions using different techniques and approaches, were uniformly outstanding. Remarkably so. 2) The facilities, not surprisingly are pretty opulent. More importantly the staff are wonderful, caring people, most of whom have been where I am and have come through it. 3). The rules, designed to ensure the safety and comfort of clients, are generally reasonable - not at all punitive - I felt as if I was treated as an adult. 4) The food is shockingly good. I was fortunate that the other four clients who were with me (max occupancy six to a house, with four separate houses) have been terrific - warm, supportive and funny. I decided before going in that if I was going to do this, I was going to check my cynicism and natural reserve at the door, and lean into the treatment. That was the right approach - really the only one. I feel better, and more hopeful, than I have in many years. It was not always easy, to say the least - they are not called demons for nothing. Can't express strongly enough my gratitude to the Seasons team for helping me conquer them. read more

My nephew Tommy was struggling with pills and fentanyl. My sister was going through hell trying various outpatient programs. The family therapist got us in contact with admission's dept. I spoke to a wonderful lady, by the name of Katherine, who walked us through the process. We picked Serenity house and he was able to detox in a peaceful environment. After his detox I was able to come visit. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. It's been so long since we seen him so happy. Tommy just got his 9 month coin for sobriety. Edit: Unfortunately, I need to edit this review after being a few months away from my discharge date at Seasons. Every person I knew at Seasons who was there for substance use ended up relapsing multiple times (6 people, including one individual who attended a Seasons-recommended IOP), and every person I knew for mental health fell back into a state of severe depression or anxiety (2 people, including one individual who attended a Seasons-recommended IOP). While my review below is accurate as to the experience at Seasons while in the residential program, Seasons does not provide hands-on aftercare for clients following their discharge. The level of intense trauma therapy Seasons provides can leave clients feeling stuck even deeper in their trauma and victimhood mindsets (though I'd like to note that I only completed 60 days at Seasons rather than 90, though I have discussed this concern with individuals who completed 90 and share the same feeling). Seasons also does not offer Baclofen, a medication used in combination with Naltrexone for AUD and other drug use disorders, which was the key to 3 of the substance use clients' recovery after finding other programs post-Seasons. There are programs for individuals who still struggle with substances and mental health that provide 6-12 months of aftercare, including weekly sessions with therapists, a 24/7 hotline, and relational therapy support. If you are really struggling, a more aftercare-focused program may be a better fit. Original review: I can't emphasize this enough: Seasons saved my life. Really, I like to say I made the decision to live, and Seasons taught me what it means to be alive. If I could write a 100/5 star review every day for the rest of my life, I would. I came to Seasons after a non-science-based, 12-step-only program that hardly scratched the surface on my trauma. After arriving to Seasons, I was quickly diagnosed with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), and this was the first time I felt seen. The team understood that I was less interested in focusing on substances or other self-destructive behaviors and more on practicing self-love, respect, and growth, but first I had to find the "self" piece. With science-backed modalities such as EMDR, brainspotting, craniosacral, hypnosis, and many, many more, I was able to unlock hundreds of memories I was never aware that I had, relieve life-long physical ailments (the body truly does keep the score), and embrace a complex, deep, empathetic version of myself (and, if you don't know what any of those terms mean, don't worry -- I didn't either before coming here!). Ask anyone at Seasons and they'll tell you I went from bragging that I never cry to bragging that I cry of gratitude and happiness regularly. I learned 6 decades of wisdom in 60 days, at least. I also learned that many therapy modalities promoted for trauma work in mainstream society are not enough. I had been engaging in years of therapy only to realize the techniques I was using weren't enough, that we can't talk about what our subconscious has blocked us from knowing. It's a lot to trust a review, but if you're at a place (like I was) where you are desperate to find the solution to your mental health ailments, this is the place. You'll find the answer here, and your life will change in unimaginable ways. Through breaking the chain of intergenerational trauma that plagued my family as well as my own traumatic experiences as a child, adolescent, and adult, I have been able to help family and friends do the same. I had a major struggle in my addiction. I was on a very thin thread of losing my family and tearing them apart because of my drug usage. I found this place, at first I was scared but I knew I needed treatment to fix and repair the damage I have caused. This place was amazing, it was beyond belief of what they have done for me while I was under their care. The staff was truly amazing to be around. From everything- Admission, techs, clinical therapist, chefs, house keepers. I stayed there for 30 days and extended my stay because I saw how much growth I was making. Everyday that I spent at Seasons was an experience that I will never forget. The staff are there to help you with your struggles and underline issues. I myself was able to bring up things that I never knew until I started to open up. After 15 years of being in my addiction I am truly grateful that I have went to Seasons Malibu. They are very resourceful of helping finding a sober living once you are done with treatment. This place has the far best of knowledge and skills of what it takes to be a treatment center. I would highly recommend this place for anyone that is seeking treatment for their addiction. This place has saved my life dearly. My sobriety date is Aug 5,2015 and this year I will have 6 years clean. I have also been able to repair the damage I have caused to my family. My bond with my family is stronger and better than before, if it was not for this place I would not be where I am today. Admissions- truly welcoming with open arms and caring. Clinical therapists/ Case workers- truly helpful and they are there to help. Truly eye opening experience. Groups are amazing and were truly helpful. Chefs- truly amazing cooks and super friendly, healthy food. Residential Advisors/Nurses- amazing team. Each have their own journey to recovery and is truly able to sit and take the time to interact with clients. House Keepers- They are the most sweetest and gentle people I have ever known. I spent some time at Seasons during the Summer/Fall of 2023 and it was certainly a life changing experience. I am so grateful for the opportunity to get help, and I am so glad that I chose to receive it from Seasons. They truly are a dual-diagnosis program, and if you are suffering from addiction, they really work hard at getting to the root of the problem. I did a lot of research prior to choosing which treatment center to go to, and Seasons checked all of the boxes and I was not disappointed. If there is something that disappoints you, it is very easy to advocate for yourself. Dr. Shilati runs a great program; the doctors and clinicians are top-notch and there are a variety of modalities that can help you with whatever you're struggling with. They work well with your family and any external doctors you may have. All of the staff are incredibly caring and compassionate. The food is great and you are welcome to go to the beach for walks or AA meetings, but nothing is forced. I am so happy that I went to Seasons and I would recommend it to anyone. Beware! In my personal opinion, this place is a complete scam. I visited this establishment last weekend, as my friend/sisters power of attorney, for a dispute totaling $42,000 for services that were never rendered. I cannot speak for her, but I can speak for how I was treated upon arrival. It was difficult to locate, because the address and the phone numbers have changed. This facility was NOT the facility that is online or on the commercials. In fact, this house was under complete construction. Definitely not the oasis that is advertised. Upon arrival, I noticed eight luxury cars parked in the driveway. This was very alarming, given the nature of this establishment. I was introduced to Merit, and the establishment owner/manager, I believe his name was Roy or Rob? When I asked for a copy of the contract that my sister signed upon her arrival, I was greeted with immediate aggression and an elevated tone of voice. They would not answer any of our questions, and immediately started raising their voice for us to leave. Roy threatened to call the police on my sister, my mother, and I. We waited outside for the police, as we felt the situation should be documented, but they never arrived. All we wanted was to speak to a live person since, we had been avoided for the last month. We calmly explained our issue to Patrick as we were waiting outside. We would not have showed up to the property unannounced, had they had not changed the phone number, location, and stopped returning our phone calls. I don't know what is going on with this facility, or what kind of transition they are in, bankruptcy perhaps? I can't say this as fact, this is just my suspicion. Either way, the way my family and I were treated was unprofessional, and in my opinion, the business they are running is very unethical. I am a medical professional myself, and every patient is given a copy of whatever documents are signed, along with a HIPPA notice. If you want a beautiful setting, yoga, acupuncture, massages, personal chef, hiking...this is the place for you if you don't mind spending thousands of dollars a week. If you really need help...I mean truly need help to recover from drugs or alcohol I would suggest a more tough love place and save the cash. Update: I recently relapsed in December and just celebrated 90 days on May 10. I am writing because I felt compelled to tell you from my personal account of what Seasons really does for people. I can tell you, it was not easy for me to go back and ask for help again. My parents were so proud of me and because of a bad breakup I lost over three years of sobriety. I had my job back in order, was doing well living on my own and was easily being trusted again. As a 40 year old female who felt she had her life back, I fell into a deep depression, which contributed to a relapse and a three month binge. I am not the type of person that easily asks for help and frankly felt like I hit bottom again. I know everyone has their own reasons for coming into treatment and believe me, I did not feel as though I even needed treatment ever again and felt like I had it all figured out. The alcohol just snuck back up and before I knew it I was drinking daily again. I felt like such a failure and did not know what to do. My parents reached back out to Seasons. Although the admissions counselor that helped me get in before was no longer there, Seasons did not shame me or make me feel like the pathetic loser I felt like I was. I just needed support, love and a safe place. I read some of the negative reviews on here and I cannot believe that this is the same place they are discussing. I mean, I gotta say, no one is happy to be in rehab and trust me, plenty of people struggled to take any responsibility for their actions. All I was able to experience was a staff that went above and beyond. Some staff members that were here when I was here last and they just made me feel like a family member coming home. The Seasons experience is the only reason I felt okay to come back. In fact, I thought this time around it was even better than last time. They got a new house even closer to the water, which I loved. The therapy was amazing and the family work repaired my relationship with my parents. Listen, if you are reading this, you are probably where I was, feeling confused, sad, lonely and wanting to make the best decision. It is easy to get caught up and feel like these places all sell you the dream. I don't know, the best thing I can say is that my experience was amazing and filled with so much beautiful work at Seasons. I have come out with an even better understanding. I also know the other side of things, we are addicts, we have a very skewed perspective of reality and see what we want. It would be easy for me to bitch about a lot of things that Seasons could improve, but none of that mattered, because they gave me what I needed. So if I didn't make it to my hair appointment because there was no ride available, I was understanding. I suppose it is all perspective. Anyways, I have written a novel. All I can say is Seasons is the tremendous place they say they are. If you take the time to just speak with their admissions staff, or in my case, they allowed my parents to speak to both the COO and the Clinical Director, it gave them much more piece of mind. I am sorry to see the negative reviews, I wish those individuals lots of peace and hopefully sobriety. Their depiction is definitely not the place I experienced. I was totally against getting any more help and finally gave up until their admissions director personally came and did an intervention with my family. Not only did they take my insurance but worked out a payment plan that was fair. The staff accommodated all of my needs and even took the time to have extra long sessions with my family that had a lot of questions. Even to this day the case manager continues to check up on me. Plus the location directly across the ocean is better than any of the other places I had been to before. This is an additional update - I referred a friend of mine there about one month ago and she is doing so well! They really go out of their way and still continue to give great care! I had a very close friend of mine need to check into rehab and I was part of a group of us that decided to help him in his search to find a place that frankly saved his life. We had no idea what we were doing. We had never tried anything like this before and every place just tells you what you want to hear. We decided to go with our friend and visit at least five different places. Each was very different and had a bunch of different amenities, views, etc..but it wasn't until we met with the clinical director and the COO that we felt different about Seasons. They were the only ones that actually seemed to care about taking the time to explain everything to us. Not only did they spend over an hour and a half with my friend, but there was absolutely no high pressure sales tactics. Two weeks later, my friend checked in. Since then, he has been doing amazing. I am so proud of him and so impressed with the way Seasons handled everything. I highly recommend this place and feel free to go visit: you will not be disappointed. read more

I cannot say enough good things about how Seasons. They changed the life of my cousin who has struggled with addiction for years. She and our family were treated with respect and honesty throughout her entire stay. Dr. Shilati and her team were there for us when we had questions about anything and everything during the process. If you need to get sober, and want luxurious surroundings, this is the best place to be, hands down. I'd been struggling for many years to kick my multiple addictions in 10 different rehabs. 12 step nazi programs as well as more integrative modes. They never were able to get at the roots of my disease and help me achieve lasting sobriety until I came to Seasons, where I met the most awesome therapists in the world. Dr Nancy Irwin and Audrey Hope teamed up to work with me and the most amazing miracle happened. I finally surrendered to this day, years later, I still have no desire to drink or do drugs, a real miracle for me and my family. My niece, "Tina", spent 90 days at Seasons this summer. She has struggled with addiction her entire life. It started with alcohol, speed and marijuana in high school. Then she graduated to pills. Finally, as a mother of two small children, she became addicted to heroin. Tina did an incredible job of keeping her addiction from us for years, or else we did a great job of failing to notice. In any case, we finally got her to Seasons (from halfway across the country) before it was too late. In fact, another week and I believe we might have been attending Tina's funeral instead of flying her to Malibu. There are good and bad things about Seasons. All high-end treatment centers, including Seasons, advertise diverse activities - aquatic therapy, equine therapy, field trips, etc. Many of these activities never occur, but not for the reasons you might think. I tried to see Tina twice a week while she was at Seasons, almost always for a meal or a Saturday afternoon. So I got to know the staff and the clients (patients). After 8 hours a day of group therapy, individual counseling, psychotherapy and the rigorous daytime schedule, everyone is simply exhausted. They want to eat, have a cigarette, crash in front of a TV, read a book - anything that doesn't require a lot of energy. Equine therapy is the last thing on their minds. There were a couple of moments when I was frustrated with the staff, but there were far more moments when I witnessed firsthand the caring attention Tina got. She was incredibly difficult, even for trained professionals. But each of them developed a unique way to approach her. Each had his or her own relationship with Tina. During the numerous times she tried to leave in the first 45 days, they somehow managed to calm her and get her to focus on the big picture (her sobriety). And I am incredibly grateful to each member of the staff who participated in these moments. EXPECT YOUR LOVED ONE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE AT SEASONS. This is part of the process - ignore 95% of it. It took us a while to realize this one, but it was easier when we did. I saw one reviewer say "save your money and go to a facility with tough love". In our case, we'd tried all the "tough love" we could muster. It took an individual treatment program, with a team of people and a rigorous therapy schedule to finally get some results. There were times when we all wanted to give up, but the team at Seasons kept us on track - gently and calmly. The results were worth it. Tina just celebrated 5 months of sobriety. She has re-established her relationship with her children and family, and she's working part time. We still have a long way to go and there are still days when we are frustrated with one another, but the tools we learned at Seasons have kept us communicating. Finally, Seasons is a big financial commitment. Tina stayed 90 days and we often questioned whether the price was worth it. But then, on Day 51, the light bulb went on in Tina's head. She finally embraced sobriety. She started going to AA and NA meetings, working the steps and taking responsibility for her actions. It was one of the happiest days of my life and the life of my family - I'm teary eyed just thinking about it. But rehab is not for the weak, so beware of any program that promises a quick cure. Your loved one will not be "cured" after 30 days (or 60 or 90). If you aren't ready to support them 110%, don't waste your time or money. They do the work inside at Seasons, but we had a lot of our own work to do as well. Prepare to make a commitment and stick with it. We attended counseling sessions whenever possible. We read books on addiction and learned a lot about how to communicate more effectively. We learned that we couldn't expect Tina to stay sober unless we were prepared to understand her and support her. We're still working on it, and so is she. I didn't always like what the Seasons team had to say to me, or the prices they charged, but they were honest from the get-go. When we asked them how long Tina would require treatment, they answered "I don't know". And that's the truth because everyone is different. I saw a lot of clients leave after 30 days and return before the next 30 was over. I also saw a couple folks stay for 30 and make it. The longer they stay, the better chance of success. Every person is unique. Every family is unique. But Dr Shilati and the team at Seasons know what they are doing. Listen. Follow their advice. And be patient....incredibly patient. read more

In the summer of 2013 I spent time at Seasons recovering from an un-tapered withdrawal from benzodiazepines. That was more than a year ago, and Seasons still has not provided me, or my doctors, with my complete medical records, despite my many demands that they do so. I consider this to be extreme negligence. Unfortunately I endured further negligence while at Seasons. Staff was responsible for dispensing prescription medication, and I was regularly given the wrong pills, including, once, psychiatric medication meant for another client. That kind of mistake should never happen. While I was there I was distressed to discover that what is said in one-on-one therapy is not confidential, but is shared with the admissions officers. They then use what you have said privately to your therapist to try very hard to persuade you to stay. In other words, they use confidential information to manipulate you into giving more money to Seasons. I saw one of them use this ploy on another client. He went so far as to discuss her confidential matters in front of me. Their desire to secure your money outweighs all human decency. Contrary to what it says on their web site, there was no neuro-feedback, no nutritional counseling, no kayaking, no equine therapy, no dream therapy, no hypnotherapy, no creative writing, no meditation, no recovery-through-acting therapy and no shamanic healing, although the "spiritual counselor" is willing to channel dead parents or spin your chakras. Seasons does employ many exceptionally kind people. Many of the client advocates and counselors, and all of the chefs, are worth their weight in gold. Sadly, they are not the ones responsible for sending medical records. On their website they claim that ninety-five percent of clients surveyed would recommend Seasons to a friend or family member. They must only be surveying the clients with positive experiences. They certainly didn't survey me. If they had I would have answered "no". And I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else, either. read more

My experience at Seasons was great. The staff is very knowledgeable. Client care is at the top of the list. They helped carve a path for me to succeed in sobriety. All of the homes are clean and very well maintained. I would definitely recommend this recovery center to any person that struggles with addiction and or mental health issues. The facilities are beautiful and the views incredible. The staff truly cares about the patients there. The acupuncture was interesting as I never had it before but it was a positive experience. The massages were out of this world. I forget her name but she is top notch. Breakfast is on your own but plenty is supplied for the making. The off-site activities such as stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking were just what I needed after days of intense therapy. The food is good especially if you like it a little on the fancy side. read more

This was my first experience finding a rehabilitation site for my son. After reading many reviews, I felt confident that Seasons was the best choice for our family. My son completed 28 days at Seasons Agoura, and I can already see a big difference in his outlook on his future. I attended a family therapy session with him, and being a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist, I was hoping that she would be experienced and qualified in her area of specialty. I was not disappointed. I learned so much from just one session. Everyone who works at Seasons is committed and knowledgeable, and the multi-disciplinary approach towards treatment is state-of-the-art. A comprehensive recovery model that includes intense one on one counselling, meditation, hypnotherapy, spirituality, message, and family support, the Seasons program leaves no stone unturned. From the moment we called admissions to enquire about their approach to addiction recovery, to the comprehensive after care support program, our family has been treated with respect, understanding and have been given a clear understanding of Seasons well thought out objectives. My brave son entered the program in early February and his own hard work combined with the solid dedication of all the staff, has resulted in his solid recovery. Seasons approach is positive, does not play the shame game. The physical facility is first class, food is outstanding and healthy and all staff create an atmosphere that is warm and supportive. If I could give this place a negative star review I would. My brother went to this beautiful dump a little over 3 years ago. He stayed for a little over a week. He paid for the first week and then wire transferred the rest of the money for his 30 days stay, which totaled $60,000. Amazingly once the 60K hit their bank he was no longer a priority and they allowed him to leave on his 13th day on his own. A few months later he was dead. I told them "Do NOT let him leave, I will drive out to see him" They let him leave, he died and they kept his money. Season's allows the patients to have their cell phones and talk to their drugged up and drunk friends while they are trying to get sober. STAY AWAY from these money grubbing people. read more

Season saved my brother's life. From the moment he checked in to the minute he left, the staff and counsellors were professional and on point. His alcohol and drug addiction went back at least a decade. Through another friend, who recommended Seasons, he was able to get the help he needed and came out of the program with the necessary tools to live outside the walls as a sober alcoholic/addict. Seasons also provided us, his family, with the tools to help him help himself. The tools to recognize relapse and the wherewithal to call them if it looked as though he might "fall of the wagon." This was a tough journey. Seasons made us feel less alone and set my brother on a good path. Please, if you have a loved one who needs the hel they cannot give themselves, talk to them about Seasons.
