I had the Chicken Yassa, described as "grilled chicken leg marinated overnight in onion, garlic, mustard, lemon, and chef's secret recipe." It came with a side of Jollof Rice. The flavor was great, but the chicken was dry. We're talking VERY dry, as in overcooked and so dry as to almost be inedible. I was disappointed. Those flavors with a juicy piece of chicken would be outstanding. The green spicy sauce/chutney that accompanied the chicken is outstanding. The Jollof Rice ("steamed basmati rice seasoned and sautéed with onions, garlic, pepper, tomatoes, and carrots") was okay. I've had better Jollof Rice at African restaurants before, so this was not tops. It too was a little dry, but the flavor was fine. Finally, I had a beignet. These are round. It had a nice crunch on the outside and a good sweetness, but it was so dense and heavy that I could not eat it. This was a disappointing item. Over all, Afella Jollof seems to show some signs of being a young restaurant. It needs to work on preciseness and consistency so the great flavors are accompanied by juicy and appealing items they spice. I'll go back because it's a business worth supporting, but I can't give this place more than three stars (A-OK in Yelp's terms) for now. I hope to see improvements so I can up the rating later. Afella Jollof Catering is located in the Spice Bridge food hall (located in one of the SHAG retirement condo buildings). Parking can be hard to locate at first, but it's behind the building. Spice Bridge is home to Food Innovation Network's Food Business Incubator program, which helps South King County women of color and immigrants start and grow thriving businesses (see https://www.seattletimes.com/life/food-drink/tukwilas-spice-bridge-food-hall-helps-immigrant-women-business-owners-turn-their-restaurant-dreams-into-reality). It features food from around the world, with owners who are passionate about that food.

They serve them in a roll version vs. what you typically see in a restaurant with different dollops of food on the spongy bread. Generous spread of sauce and veggies fill the bread, rolled up, and ready to eat. It was perfect and delicious too! We also bought a baklava without nuts. When we were there, only one person seems to be working, but it was in the middle of the afternoon when it wasn't too busy. She prepped our food and was our cashier too. She was a very kind and sweet lady, and was extra appreciative that we drove half an hour to buy from them. This Food Hall strive to support refugees and immigrants by offering kitchens and retail spaces for them to start a small business. Currently, 8 businesses are sharing time and use of the facilities, 3 days each per week with Mondays closed. Check the Spice Bridge website for details. This new hall is very clean and well organized. There are plenty of signs/menus to guide you on your food adventure. There are also plenty of hand sanitizer! Dining is available at the outside seats/benches.
