I liked the kwanga a lot better than pounded cassava fufu I have had from other restaurants: it had more flavor (a slight tang), and was less sticky. The pondu was good too! I love to pish myself outside of my comfort zone, and today, I was excited and apprehensive about the Taste of Congo. My wife and I decided to share a late afternoon snack at The Tase of Co go when we went to the Spice Bridge. The Spice Bridge has up to 4 different restaurants inside their Global Food Hall. Today, we were lucky to experience the Taste of Congo. I know that I ordered some "not too adventurous" foods, and it was amazing. The Beef Stew was incredibly flavored. I know it was probably toned down for the average American, but sooo delicious. The meat was tender and spiced. The fufu was great, and I got to eat with my hands while my wife looked on in aghast... she used a spoon. The beignets were delicious! I say were because they are always gone so quickly! read more

If you were ever interested in trying out FuFu, then this is the place to go. It is located in Spice Bridge, which is a global food hall. When we went there, there was only two vendors open, but we had intentionally gone here for the Taste of Congo. We went right at opening and got the chicken stew with fufu, the fried plantains, and a drink for $33. I thought it was expensive but you get quite a bit of food for that. My friend and I ate until we were content and even had tons to bring home. The taste was yummy! Lots of flavor! The gal working was super nice and friendly. Rating (3.5) 4 - it was a good experience to try :) My boyfriend and I have been trying to find a place that served fufu, since we've always wanted to try fufu. The place is a small restaurant located in an area called Spiced Bridge with other small conglomerate African Restaurants too. There is a small sitting area near the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant were very causal/to-go type. The service of Taste of Congo was self served so picking up the food at the counter. The restaurant is opened on Wed-Sun and closed on Mon-Tues. There was plenty of parking there. Beef Samosa - we love samosas so you already know we were going to order this! Crispy outer layer that was filled with beef inside of it. We thought it was yummy and flavorful. Fufu with Chicken Palm oil soup - fufu is usually served with soup and in this case it's palm oil soup. It is a soft, smooth, mash/dough-like consistency. Traditionally, you tear the fufu with your hands, then dip it into the soup to eat. It was a wonderful experience to try fufu for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised by the flavors, but felt there could be more spice in there. Also, there was only a little bit of protein (chicken) in it which we wished there was more of. However, we have nothing else to compare it with, so we definitely have to find more spots to try fufu at! :) read more

Hearing about Spice Bridge from many friends, my fiance and I wanted to try at least one dish from all the vendors there. When we went on Saturday afternoon, Moyo Kitchen and Taste of Congo were there. From Taste of Congo, we got the grilled goat meat (Ntaba), grilled plantains, and a side of fufu that we paid extra for. In total, we paid around $37. My fiance and I admit that we don't eat goat often, so this was a treat for us. When we first tried the goat, we immediately noticed how well cooked the meat was. It was falling off the bone and tasted delicious with the seasoning they used. The side of plantains were solid and what you expect from fried plantains. The cassava fufu had a great texture and came out hot and fluffy. The portion size of the dish was huge too. Between the two of us, we had to save some leftovers to finish during dinner. Overall, I would love to come back sometime and try their other dishes! read more

This was my first experience trying fufu with beef stew and egusi! My family and I arrived on a Sunday and arrived when they opened at noon. The wait time was a decent amount and the staff was sweet and accommodating. The beef stew and egusi with fufu was $20 each but it was able to feed a family of 4. I've been looking for fufu ever since I had it in LA and this place did not disappoint. I order a bunch of things to try with my sister. Egusi soup, Chicken Palm Oil Soup, Mayo Chicken, and a side of rice, and a few orders of fufu. I really enjoyed everything. Portions are a bit small and price is high but supporting small business :) it's located in Spice Bridge and they're only there selective days. Ordering online was easy and pick up went well. Welcome to one of the businesses at the NEW Spice Bridge Food Hall in Tukwila. Taste of Congo has some of the more adventurous-looking foods and we love it! Whole grilled mackerel (thomson), is served with a side of kwanga or rice. We chose kwanga, which is a traditional bread from Congo made of cassava flour cakes that are wrapped in dry banana leaves, then steamed. There's a choice of sauces, and we had the eggplant sauce. This is a very filling combo and easily serves two. We also ordered their grilled goat meat (ntaba) and their fried plantain. The seasoning on the goat meat is very tasty. It's slightly higher cost but worth it! Definitely give that a try. This Food Hall strive to support refugees and immigrants by offering kitchens and retail spaces for them to start a small business. Currently, 8 businesses are sharing time and use of the facilities, 3 days each per week with Mondays closed. This new hall is very clean and well organized. There are plenty of signs/menus to guide you on your food adventure. There are also plenty of hand sanitizer! Eating is available at the outside seats/benches. read more

This was a pretty delicious spot that my boyfriend and I tried out. We were in line to try other foods but when my boyfriend came over to their line, he was immediately noticed and helped on the spot. Our mayo chicken and hibiscus drink was out quickly but the flavors in both were perfect. I have to say the hibiscus drink is my favorite drink, it is PACKED with flavor and I wish they had bigger cups cause it was missed as soon as it was finished. The mayo chicken was tender and delicious too, and I'm glad we got their yellow rice as a side as it was fragrant and pleasant with the chicken and drink. This was AMAZING!!!! I have always wanted to try food from the DRC. I ordered the Chicken Palm Nut soup and let me tell you, the mix of tomatoes and nuts and garlic and Congolese spices. I also enjoyed the mashed potatoes-esque fufu that came with it. I also ordered the Beignets...Don't tell anyone in the deep South or Europe (namely Belgium or France) I said this, but I believe that Congolese Beignets--being made with coconut milk and spices, as well as NOT being submerged in powdered sugar--are sooo much better than New Orleans Beignets and French Beignets. I also had the hibiscus juice, which had the perfect balance of sweet and "punchy". All in all, I will be returning here prolifically!! read more

Honestly this is the worst fufu and egusi soup I've ever had, I get that the business is busy but you need to make sure your food is up to quality.. the fufu was watery I couldn't even handle it properly because it was so watered down and soft not to mention that the egusi soup and fufu was $22 but portions were so small. I also got the beef samosa and they were burnt I got $10 for 3 which is a whole ripoff apart from it being burnt. I also got yellow rice and that was flavorful. I'm never gonna be back honestly a 1/10 review for me. Do better just because your business is doing good doesn't mean you have to make your food in a hurry. I was wanting something tasty so the dish that came to mind was Egusi. After a quick search and a call I made a decision to have a lunch date. The decor was simple but accentuated the culture of each restaurant. The seating was simple and spread across the space. The Spice Bridge is a conglomerate of African restaurants; all but one was closed on Sunday--Taste of Congo. After we all placed our orders we ended up spending almost $200. My friend didn't like the grilled Goat that she ordered (it was moreso boiled and braised)or the beef stew( majorly lacking in flavor). My little had the yellow rice which he seemed to enjoy. The " beignets" (bofro/puff puff with powdered sugar) at $1 a piece is a bit much in my opinion. I was given an egusi that was lacking in flavor as well as melon seeds-it was also less than half a serving initially(I had to ask for more). The fufu was an alright consistency not the best but still edible but at a $20 price point it could have been better. The hibiscus juice was a very nice save($4)-sweet with a touch of spice from cloves. The Cassava leaves were the best tasting item ($6). I was overall pretty unsatisfied with my meal unfortunately. I truly hope that it was just an off day because I absolutely love African cuisine and will definitely give them a shot during the week to see if it was a one off. read more

I ordered the palmnut chicken with fufu and the egusi soup, and preferred the palmnut chicken! It was my first time trying fufu and it was great getting it from a small family owned business. The food took a bit of time to be done but it's nice to know it's made fresh. I would say if you order the palmnut chicken and take it home, try adding some garnishes to it like diced onion and cilantro! it was a game changer for me because it adds a freshness to the dish that elevates it! read more

They're based inside of the Spice Room. It's a venue that has kitchen rentals for multiple restaurants. Taste of Congo is there every Tuesday, Wednesday, Sat, Sun as of summer 2022. I ordered the beef stew and goat for take out and was sooo surprised when I came to pick up and the sign at the front said that they were also selling egusi and fufu!!!! She says they sell it everytime they're at the spice room. I swear this is the only restaurant selling fufu in this area. The beef stew was savory and saucy it was MY FAVE. The goat was delicious and had a strong spices dry rubbed into it. I asked for fufu on the side and she also threw in some hot sauce. Idk how I just found this spot.
