One of my favorite meals of the year!…read more My partner and I wanted to try something we haven't before and we were lucky enough to be in south Seattle where we don't get to visit often. We decided on trying Kenyan food which we had never tried before. We were really glad we made this stop! Before getting there we were really set on the Samaki and we decided on getting it wet fried when we realized that was an option. The service was incredibly kind and we could tell that each dish was made to order with care. The samaki came with two sides and it was completely shareable which made it very affordable too. We were really happy we got the wet fry option because The curry that it came with was amazing. We were so happy with all the rich and colorful flavors. The restaurant itself is pretty small but offers a good number a seats. We will happily be back soon.

Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing. We arrived at 8:00 p.m. and didn't receive our food until after 10:00 p.m. Keep in mind the restaurant closes at 9:00 p.m., so we even watched them lock the doors while we were still waiting. There was only one other table of four people dining, and it appeared they had also been waiting a long time for their food. When we finally realized we needed to get home to relieve our babysitter, we asked our server to pack our meals to go. Instead of apologizing for the two-hour wait, he told us we "should have come earlier." We reminded him that we had arrived two hours before and had no reason to expect such a long delay. He showed no empathy or accountability. We still tried to stay positive, hoping the food would at least live up to the hype. Unfortunately, when we got home, we found the dishes to be overwhelmingly salty. We understand that delays can happen, but poor communication and a complete lack of customer service turned what should have been a special evening into a frustrating experience. We left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return.

This restaurant is near the Pancake Chef. The shop is small and the sign is hard to see it but It is located in the row of shops under the Pancake chef. The store is spacious with tables and chairs. My hubby and I went to the counter and ordered the Ethiopian Combination Dish. This menu has full size and half size, and the price is not so different, so I chose the full size and we decided to share it. They brought us a warm sweet ginger tea and two bottles of water while the waiting food. We love this ginger tea. There are only African customers in the store and Muslim people are praying near the place to wash hands. I washed my hands quietly without disturbing them. The staff at the shop are very kind, smiling and good service. Ethiopian combination dish is a homemade teff bread, chicken stew, lentils, spices chiles, lettuce and mix veggies. You can choose meat (chicken, beef, lamb) We ate injera, meat and mix veggies together, chicken was tender, spiced and delicious. We couldn't eat it all and took it home. It was even better the next day when I warmed it up in the microwave and ate it. I want to come to eat breakfast next time.

The people there were African, as was everyone else who came in during our stay. We came for Ethiopian food, and there was only one Ethiopian dish on the menu, the Ethiopian combo plate, with either chicken, lamb, or beef. We ordered the full combo plate with beef and it was excellent. Plenty of food for two. Three people like us could share a combo plate and still have an ample lunch. The menu has a number of interesting looking Somali dishes too. I'll have to try some of those in the future. Recommended.

Welcome to one of the businesses at the NEW Spice Bridge Food Hall in Tukwila…read more WUHA Ethiopian has one of my favorite African foods - injera bread, aka spongy bread. They serve them in a roll version vs. what you typically see in a restaurant with different dollops of food on the spongy bread. Generous spread of sauce and veggies fill the bread, rolled up, and ready to eat. It was perfect and delicious too! We also bought a baklava without nuts. When we were there, only one person seems to be working, but it was in the middle of the afternoon when it wasn't too busy. She prepped our food and was our cashier too. She was a very kind and sweet lady, and was extra appreciative that we drove half an hour to buy from them. This Food Hall strive to support refugees and immigrants by offering kitchens and retail spaces for them to start a small business. Currently, 8 businesses are sharing time and use of the facilities, 3 days each per week with Mondays closed. Check the Spice Bridge website for details. This new hall is very clean and well organized. There are plenty of signs/menus to guide you on your food adventure. There are also plenty of hand sanitizer! Dining is available at the outside seats/benches.

Super expensive meal very low quality. We were looking to have a tasty cultural experience, and was greatly disappointed. They were nice and kind to their or culture of people but we found them to be very dismissive and uninterested in serving us. It was mid day around 3-5pm... we had to keep asking for food we ordered and the food was cold. They brought us the main food, five minutes later we had to ask for the sides. 10min later they brought it. We waited 30min for drinks... and like I said, no one was in there! Like two regulars drinking beer. I really wanted to enjoy, but we will not be coming back! God bless. Be better.

The waits can be exceptionally long to order and to receive your food. It's a bit disorganized we were given our menu and waited twenty minutes before we ordered drinks. Someone else came and took the menu before we were asked what we wanted to eat. Had to request service and the menu to be returned to place an order. I've had good food from here but I've also been served cold goat stew here. This was my last attempt at supporting the business. They then double charged us for the drinks and overcharged for the food (by about thirty dollars so it wasn't a tax confusion). My partner recognized some negative vibes going on as well so we just paid left and gave the food away because the energy was too bad to consume that food. Won't be going back. I'll stick to Rafiki or go to Seattle for east African food that comes out hot.
