My husband loves strong coffee and is a big fan of trying coffee from all around the world so he was super eager to try Turkish coffee for the first time. It did not disappoint! Served piping hot, and I mean piping, the coffee was strong and tart, just how he likes it. As for the food, holy moly were these portions huge! We had the salmon bagel and breakfast plate and both were heavenly. Next time we come back we will have to bring friends because all that food for just two people made us so stuffed! But our tummies were happy and we're looking forward to being back soon.

They took the time to answer my questions and helped me feel confident about what I was ordering. I decided on the Menemen with runny eggs, paired with a Turkish coffee with milk. Everything came out fresh and flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the coffee had that bold, rich taste you expect. I was craving something sweet, so I ordered a triangle baklava from the pastry section. I have to say, the presentation completely caught me off guard, in the best way. It looked beautiful and tasted just as good. There are so many food options to choose from, which makes it hard to pick just one thing. The atmosphere is comfortable, with music playing at just the right volume, easy to enjoy but still quiet enough to have a conversation with family or friends. They also offer free WiFi, which makes it a great spot if you want to spend some time alone and get work done on your laptop. I'm really glad I stumbled across this place and will definitely be back.

The vibe of this place and the people that make it happen every morning are world class. Life situations kept me from making my way to the shop for a year or so, but when I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a "it's been a while!" The coffee is reasonably priced and imo - best in the area. It's consistent and while I'm a sucker for the 12oz cold brew - I've gone off script a few times and have always been pleased. I've got family that comes into town fairly often, and almost every morning they ask to go because they think about it when they're at home in Chicago. There's plenty of seating, tho it's sometimes so bumping (because it's a great spot!) it can be hit or miss if you can stick around and enjoy the vibe. But generally I've had good luck over the years setting up at a table and chatting with friends & fam before a hike, enjoying the morning with my pup doing some socialization training or throwing a few emails around to my corporate overlords. I've seen ads for their evening events and have been wanting to make it to one, but I always seem to see the poster days or weeks after the event! Poetry nights in a space like boon boona seem like an unbeatable vibe, hope to notice & get to one soon. *Parking is also not hard to find at all. There's a free garage down the street at the transit center that is never full, and tons of street parking*

They had the classic espresso selections along with seasonal flavors. My latte was perfect! There was plenty of seating available inside. You can also see the roasting machine in the coffee shop. Parking was difficult to find, so be ready to walk a bit to get to this coffee shop.

I made a mental note to check it out when I returned to Des Moines. What a terrific cafe! Warm, cozy, abundant natural light, and cool music playing in the background. The variety of seating g options is perfect: bar stools in the window to people watch, small tables to enjoy the coffee or do some work, more bar stools adjacent to the prep area to watch the action or engage with the baristas, or outside to enjoy the sun and sights Really welcoming and friendly team. It's clear they love the product and the cafe. I asked about the blending coffee being used and it was well explained. They even offered me a (generous) taste of the drip version, which I typically don't like. Good flavor! Coffee is terrific. I ordered a macchiato, which was poured perfectly. When the barista noticed a bit had spilled on to the saucer, he changed it out before serving. A lovely attention to detail. The pastry was tasty. Pricing is really fair. The olace is well visited and has a really terrific neighborhood vibe. It would be easy to make this your go-to hang out!
