The vibe of this place and the people that make it happen every morning are world class. Life situations kept me from making my way to the shop for a year or so, but when I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a "it's been a while!" The coffee is reasonably priced and imo - best in the area. It's consistent and while I'm a sucker for the 12oz cold brew - I've gone off script a few times and have always been pleased. I've got family that comes into town fairly often, and almost every morning they ask to go because they think about it when they're at home in Chicago. There's plenty of seating, tho it's sometimes so bumping (because it's a great spot!) it can be hit or miss if you can stick around and enjoy the vibe. But generally I've had good luck over the years setting up at a table and chatting with friends & fam before a hike, enjoying the morning with my pup doing some socialization training or throwing a few emails around to my corporate overlords. I've seen ads for their evening events and have been wanting to make it to one, but I always seem to see the poster days or weeks after the event! Poetry nights in a space like boon boona seem like an unbeatable vibe, hope to notice & get to one soon. *Parking is also not hard to find at all. There's a free garage down the street at the transit center that is never full, and tons of street parking*

Their pastries aren't limited per say, but the variety isn't too huge. However, they have a lot of cookie options and bun options. They're not the most aesthetic pastries but they're pretty good, which is all you could really ask for. I've tried their salted bourbon latte and wasn't the biggest fan. But most of the other drinks that I've tried I've liked. I wouldn't say that the flavors pop out at you but the atmosphere and homey vibe keeps me coming back. It could've been a bit more cozy, the all white aesthetic isn't for me, but regardless it's nice and someone else's vision so I respect it. It's not too loud so you can still study here, but it's also not so quiet where you feel awkward to chat. The seating is a little limited, in the sense that single tables are scarce. It's mainly long community tables, which can be a little nerve wrecking for introverts but at least there is a decent amount of seating. They also sell plants from a separate vendor. There are plants, vases, and little trinkets. This coffee shop has a great purpose and mission statement, a lot of proceeds go to end human trafficking. This is a great shop to visit if you want a funky flavor of coffee (or a basic one), if you want to sit in and chat, or if you want to buy a plant; all while supporting a good cause.

My husband loves strong coffee and is a big fan of trying coffee from all around the world so he was super eager to try Turkish coffee for the first time. It did not disappoint! Served piping hot, and I mean piping, the coffee was strong and tart, just how he likes it. As for the food, holy moly were these portions huge! We had the salmon bagel and breakfast plate and both were heavenly. Next time we come back we will have to bring friends because all that food for just two people made us so stuffed! But our tummies were happy and we're looking forward to being back soon.

They took the time to answer my questions and helped me feel confident about what I was ordering. I decided on the Menemen with runny eggs, paired with a Turkish coffee with milk. Everything came out fresh and flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the coffee had that bold, rich taste you expect. I was craving something sweet, so I ordered a triangle baklava from the pastry section. I have to say, the presentation completely caught me off guard, in the best way. It looked beautiful and tasted just as good. There are so many food options to choose from, which makes it hard to pick just one thing. The atmosphere is comfortable, with music playing at just the right volume, easy to enjoy but still quiet enough to have a conversation with family or friends. They also offer free WiFi, which makes it a great spot if you want to spend some time alone and get work done on your laptop. I'm really glad I stumbled across this place and will definitely be back.

One of the best outside areas I've come across at coffee shops/cafes. Their signature drink selection is quite fun. I opted for the Bee in a Tree latte, which is made with burnt honey and cinnamon, and enjoyed it (I usually get plain lattes!). They have steamers for kiddos - I got my daughter one with the burnt honey flavor and she loved it. The pastry selection is wonderful though I would personally give a 4/5 to all the ones I tried. The matcha almond cake uses almond extract which I personally don't like. The white chocolate raspberry muffin didn't have the white chocolate come through enough and could use more raspberries. My daughter chose the double chocolate muffin which didn't seem to actually have chocolate chips in it. Other notable mentions - free wifi, clean bathroom, and an adult only upstairs seating area. Parking is in back and could feel limited if it's busy. We came on a Wednesday morning and there weren't many spots remaining. It's also right next door to the library! Overall, great cafe and kid friendly for those interested :)

Breakfast Burrito (3): It's a very small, bite-sized, refrigerated burrito in their customer accessible fridge as you walk in. They have a veggie and a chorizo. I opted for the chorizo. It was actually pretty tasty and the salsa they serve it with was a verde salsa which was slightly sweet with a slight kick. Not too spicy. It was good just very small especially for $10. Medium Roast Drip coffee (4): decent drip. Overall, this was a nice cafe and likely your only option in the area for breakfast burritos and decent coffee.

They had a sign up the first day that advertised a rose honey latte special, and I love all of that, so I ordered it large and iced. It was amazing. I like my lattes with flavor, but I also want to be able to take the coffee and get a balance. If my coffee doesn't taste like coffee, it's too sweet. I could taste all the elements here and it's clear they use good, high-quality ingredients. They even topped it with rose petals! One day I strayed and ordered one of their specialty mochas, which I am generally hesitant to order because they're often way too sweet. I saw they use Holy Kakow syrup and know that's pretty good stuff. The mocha was really good, but also over $9 for a large before tip. That's my main complaint about this is that it's expensive. That being said, it's Vashon Island and most everything is super expensive. My large, iced latte is under $8 before tip and that feels more justifiable. This is overall a really cool place to check out with some cool history. The tea selection is absolutely amazing, though I'm too much of a coffee person to try it.

When you walk in, you're immediately hit with the smell of the roasted coffee beans, and you can see them roasting the beans from inside the shop. So cool! They have a wall of teas, a case of baked goods, and so much more that I probably even missed some things, like checking out the bookstore. I was feeling a bit worn from my travels so I decided on a Golden Mylk instead of opting for coffee. The Golden Mylk was a perfect blend of spices and creaminess. Very cozy, warm, and the perfect drink for a cloudy day. I also tried the Vashon Fog which was delicious. Not too sweet, and you could taste the tea over the milk, it didn't taste watered down. You have to check them out if you visit Vashon island!
