Very nice little coffee shop that served great cappuccinos. I wanted to get a pastry, but they were all sold out so I assumed that they were very popular. The staff was extremely friendly. The bathrooms are clean. The tables were neat. There's plenty of seating inside and out in the back to enjoy a coffee. They had a good selection of breakfast sandwiches and lunch items for a coffee shop. If I'm in the area, I'll definitely come back again to get a coffee. Highly recommend. read more

This coffee shop caught my coffee-crazy eye because of their grapefruit Szechaun tonic, so I stopped by here on a Sunday around 2pm. They have shared parking with other neighboring businesses, but I would be careful backing out once you're done around the area, as other cars parked in that parking lot can make for bad blind spots. When you get inside, you're greeted by some brown wooden floors and ceilings, and the whole interior reminds you of a cozy but spacious treehouse with the kitchen and bar seating near the front, and three or so two-tops lined up on the walls. Go deeper inside and you'll get to their outdoor patio seating that doesn't have a picturesque view but works if you're wanting some fresh air outside. Staff was very patient with me while I was perusing the menu and baked goods at the front counter. You can get your drinks for here or to-go, and there are hot and iced options for most drinks. As mentioned, I got their grapefruit Szechuan tonic, and it's definitely a unique flavor. It's bitter like coffee and tonic, and since it was advertised as a coffee drink on social media, I was surprised the drink wasn't as thick and murky as coffee would be. There's a mild grapefruit taste that is dulled by the coffee part of this drink, and that sadly also went for the Szechaun peppers that spike this drink. It's probably just me, but while drinking this my mouth was trying to tell the difference between the tingling spice sensation that Szechaun peppers usually give off, and the mouthfeel you get when bubbly, carbonated drinks like tonic come into contact with your tongue. I wasn't sure if I was tasting spice or the popping sensation from soda. Whichever it was, it was mild and could have been stronger. read more

I dropped in here when they were just finishing construction and the owner proudly showed me around the premises, to include the outdoor patio. I made a mental note to check it out when I returned to Des Moines. What a terrific cafe! Warm, cozy, abundant natural light, and cool music playing in the background. The variety of seating g options is perfect: bar stools in the window to people watch, small tables to enjoy the coffee or do some work, more bar stools adjacent to the prep area to watch the action or engage with the baristas, or outside to enjoy the sun and sights Really welcoming and friendly team. It's clear they love the product and the cafe. I asked about the blending coffee being used and it was well explained. They even offered me a (generous) taste of the drip version, which I typically don't like. Good flavor! Coffee is terrific. I ordered a macchiato, which was poured perfectly. When the barista noticed a bit had spilled on to the saucer, he changed it out before serving. A lovely attention to detail. The pastry was tasty. Pricing is really fair. The olace is well visited and has a really terrific neighborhood vibe. It would be easy to make this your go-to hang out! read more

Every time I visit this shop I have a great experience. It keeps me coming back! Friendly staff no matter who is working, chill and relaxed ambiance, zero pretentiousness, and superb espresso drinks! I'm always greeted within seconds of walking in which is rare these days! I love the biscuit but mainly as a vessel to down their delicious blackberry orange jam and butter. However, their espresso drinks are the star of the show. I love their lattes. Zero bitterness, luxurious velvety milk, and a perfect presentation every time. The best lattes I've ever had from anywhere. Very impressive. On sunny days the back balcony is the place to be to enjoy the view of the water, sip your drink, and just enjoy the moment. Excellent job on your business overall, I know it takes considerable effort and you guys have nailed it. 10/10! read more

I buy my beans here they have a good selection. The facility is nice with a view. It seems to attract an interesting mixture of people but always welcoming and friendly.
