Just left Re-PC. The vibe was that they could care less about my pc needs and they barely efforted to do that. I go in with a referbish MacBook Air from Turkey. First, I asked about changing my keypad. Their response, "we don't have Mac parts like that. You can buy a keypad from here." Ok. Next, I asked if they can fix the problem with my internal mic because my students can not hear me when during class on Zoom. They did not offer to look at it to see what might be the problem and told me that I could buy an external microphone." Without even confirming the exact problems my internal mic is having. I mean, I was not even asked to open the MBA just so we could take a quick look together. Instead, they told me to go to their Tukwilla store, (cause that's where repairs happen) and that labor is $95 an hour). Their care was at best, uninterested to completely nonplussed with anything I had to ask. What a total bummer. The two men didn't give a fvk about my questions but suggested I buy products from them. This place came highly recommended and not only will I never give these people my money but I will also never recommend anybody to waste their time here unless you look like them. They may even ask you to turn on your laptop and show them what's going on with your computer if you look like them. But I straight up got the nicca treatment. Oh well. Skip Re-PC and find another maybe even smaller computer repair spot. read more

I used to enjoy coming to this location, but over the last 10 years the staff has gotten worse and worse. The guy who runs it is probably the rudest person I've met and the staff (except for 1 guy, who is genuinely helpful and nice) follows his lead. I cannot recommend RE:PC enough! Seattleites, stop buying cords that go missing from your home on Amazon. Going to RE:PC is even more convenient!!! They have literally everything you could possibly imagine, and most cords range from like 99¢ to $3, if that. You can buy anything and everything technology related here, and the workers are geniuses and extremely helpful. Plus they have a great 30 day return policy if something goes awry. Technology related waste is no joke! Considering a secondhand option saves you money and helps the planet... so why not just do it? In the past 3 months i have purchased a computer monitor, SD cards, HDMI cords, and used CDs for a bargain. Most things are refurbished and they are very honest about conditions. Some pieces are mint condition, some pieces are sold for parts. They had a very nice selection of iMacs as well. Re-PC Tukwila has recently moved just west of Ikea. I visited this new location recently to purchase a computer, to buy computer parts, to obtain diagnostic / troubleshooting services and more. As expected, at this new location I received the same quality of services that I had received in the past. Yes, five star quality at an affordable price. But in a newer, brighter environment. As a qualified senior network administrator my standards are rather high. As in the past, Re-PC did not disappoint. I've been going to RE-PC for 15 years. I like collecting and repairing old computers and this place is a treasure trove of old tech. If you need an IDE cable or a PCI sound card or an ATX case, you'll find those kinds of things here. The museum is also really cool if you like PC tech from the 80s and 90s. read more

I stopped by on a quest with The Homie for computer and stereo gadgets back on 8/14/21. Re-PC is totally much more than that. All electronic tech under the sun, plus they have a mini computer museum off to the side. I like the concept of these vast items not clogging a landfill and a resource for folks who have various electronic project needs. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. These folks are the best. Opposite of the use it and toss it ethic that we have way too much of today. Over the years I've gotten monitors, printers, occasional computers and misc electronics here. There's always something you can use. And of course taken my old computer stuff knowing it will find a use and a home. Today's experience was my Epson Inkjet scanner/printer. It works great but something got out of whack and it kept coming up with an error message saying I had a paper jam in the automatic document feeder, when there was nothing in there. I called Epson tech support and the woman in the Philippines said I could drop it off at their service center--in Portland. Just a 6 hour round trip. Instead I brought it to Re PC, figuring they could either figure it out or I could buy a reasonable replacement. Their real repair stuff happens in their South Center store, but their staffer fiddled with it for 5-10 minutes, found the disconnected piece, and made it work again. And if he hadn't I'd bought one of their used ones. Great folks, great prices and a Seattle institution worth supporting. read more

I must say over the years, I've had WONDERFUL service at Re-PC. I've probably bought 3 computers there. I needed a new mouse and I was treated the same as if I had bought a 2000 buck computer. Do you need a charger for your laptop because you lost it traveling or the dog chewed it up? Do you want it now and don't want wait 2 days for it to get here when you order online? Do you want to pay only 10 whole dollars? Yeah that is Re-PC. They have a ton of chargers, plugs, cables, often the actual original brand, hence higher quality. It has saved me more than once. Last week I brought in a charger/ac adapter to replace and one of the guys working knew the exact one I was looking for and got it from the back like magic. The other side benefit is you helping the environment by reducing demand for new changers and cables. The world doesn't need more USB cables. The only downside is the place is not pretty, it is utilitarian, not the best the best for ig shots. Two pro tips. #1 if you are replacing a charger or cable, RAM, etc, and you still have it, bring the old one with you so is quicker to find replacement. #2 Bring any old laptops or other electronic stuff you want to get rid off. Usually the will take it for free to recycle, and for a few things there is a nominal fee. You are now a savoir of the planet without having to do much. Congrats! read more

My kindergartener was testing the knowledge of everybody else in the store. They were so kind to him & his abundant curiosity! This is a great place if you are looking for computer parts and don't want to spend a ton of money. Two thumbs up for it being great for the environment as well. I went to Office Depot in search of a monitor for my home office, and they only had one in stock, at a price of $450. A quick google search led me to Re-PC and I could not have been happier. Everyone there was super helpful and helped me pick out a great monitor for way less than I would've spent new. Highly recommend if you need something and don't mind that it's been used once before! Thank you Cal for your assistance on Saturday, January 1/15/2022. I bought a mouse and a couple of other items on my way to the SODO Costco. I told Cal I would come back after Costco. He needed to grab something to eat. (BTW, Cal had call offs to the team. They were down 2 or 3 team members.) I came back and patiently waited almost an hour for help. Cal and the guy with the curly hair deserve a bonus. I mean it. The other guy working seemed entitled and fake it until you make it. He finally helped me. He tried to give me a monitor that had not been plug in, etc. (Check what you are buying due to the return/as is policy.) He took the monitor down I wanted to buy. He rang it up. (I hope RE-PC does not check team member's sales. This guy did not deserve it.) He carried it out to my car. That was a plus. Cal got me the proper cords. The arrogant/entitled/Fake it until he makes it guy would have let me drive away without cords. I walked in and waited for Cal. Cal found the cords and he told me in 2-minutes how to hook it up for my specific use. It took me 5-minutes to hook up because I am not as fast as Cal. Grateful for your guidance, Cal. Don't ever have Greg as your help. I needed help. Greg sold me a new sata and guaranteed it would work with my Dell laptop from RE-PC. Greg tried to get me to buy another laptop that it worked with because I could not be refunded for the original product. Darren the GM stood there while Greg said this to me. (Since then, Darren has basically redeemed himself to me. He doe not communicate well. We have two different styles.) I did not give this sata back to RE-PC. I found somone who could use it. I do not allow RE-PC to have donations of working items. I have never seen them buy anything from any person that is good when i have spent time in their store. I would have given RE-PC 5- PLUS Stars due to Cal and curly haired guy. Sometimes you need to be patient to get the correct help. They really should have a warning sign on the door. "Caution Employees are cranky, irritable and rude...communicate with them at your own risk." The place is great for finding cheap computer parts or parts you can't find anywhere else. The guys who work here take the cranky IT guy stereotype to a whole new level. I make it a point to never ever ask any questions; you just know they'll fire back with some rude comment. Bad social skill? Marketing gimmick? I was in Seattle for the weekend and realized I left my CPAP machine power cord. For some reason, every medical supply center, electronics shop or department store was either closed or didnt have what I needed. Re-pc on 6th Street in Seattle was my last hope for a restful night's sleep. This place was AMAZING and filled with great people. From the moment I walked in, Jacob and his co-workers worked feverishly to find the right cord for my device. I guess they could tell I was discouraged by my search because they were so fun, engaging, and incredibly helpful. Another rating quandary! The SMILE: They definitely know what they're doing here and this store is conveniently located within 15 minutes of where I live and has plenty of free parking. If I'm in NEED of a cord, drive, power supply, or other accessory it's faster and cheaper to buy from here instead of searching the net for retailers or waiting for mail order. They even sell software, hardware, and fully functional computers. The FROWN: The staff seem to be seriously challenged in social graces and interpersonal interactions. State your business quickly, ask concisely for what you want or need, be ready to pay, say Thank You and leave. My computer finally gave up the ghost. This spring, I had purchased a nice new solid state hard drive, but the rest of the computer was shot. When a power outage took the monitor with it, I knew I had to do something fast. I don't play games or design videos so I don't need the best and fastest, just a reliable computer. So I went to Re-PC and bought a used computer and had them install my own hard drive in it. For less than $300 I am as happy as I could possibly be for a computer. These guys are a great resource. They have saved my motherboard more than once. They are really friendly, helpful and if you have good timing they will talk endlessly about their craft if you ask them too. A true sign of people who love there jobs. I would strongly suggest you use this place. You don't see this level of hobby, service and recycling on the local level from a Corp. Bring in your PC in for them to look at if you don't know what your doing, they will check it out! Be Patient with these guys though they do have a workload. I've had a dealer-addict relationship with these hardware geeks for a decade-plus, since they were just the junk section of PC-FIXX. Back then I would have given them 5 stars, no question. Service was always atrocious (and they've never had much in the way of software/OS knowledge in-house) , but they were the only game in town for tech-savvy people to get a deal on cool hardware. For a dozen years, I probably dropped 20-30% of my $2-3k/year geek-toy habit on them, just in components and cables. Woe unto you if your questions were mundane or you happened to be female, but that was the state of things back then. Over the years, the unique benefits have faded, and the attitude remains. With terabyte drives costing less than a Fred Meyer kids' bicycle, the great finds became increasingly rare, and Re-PC became more of a passable recycling operation with displays of appliance parts. Today? Nah. Sorry. I've had one too many rude staffer make it abundantly clear that this is a collective hobby, not a functional business. My transgression? Asking for pricing on an item that had just come in. Now, any sensible manager wouldn't blink at spending up to 5-10min/ $10 of tech-bench manpower to check a $100-price zero-cost item for immediate sale to an interested customer standing at the counter with money in hand. But nooooo..... from across the room, a dude yells "You know the rules!! We have a process!!" Apparently "the process" is more important than actually running a business. They stubbornly refused to make an instant 90% profitable sale to an interested customer, apparently in fear of losing the opportunity to ooh and ahh over something shiny. I offered to wait, to come back tomorrow... no dice. And it's happened before. Many many times. I'm too old for this childish crap. I left & bought a similar item from NewEgg's clearance for $30 (I would have paid up to $100 to have it that day), and didn't have to deal with the endless stream of geekier-than-thou from staffers who honestly don't know as much about computer hardware as I do. The magic is utterly gone from this place, and what used to be cute in a nerdy way is now just inappropriate behavior from adults. What are the options? Go new: New stuff is almost as cheap as used these days. Newegg, geeks.com, tigerdirect, you name it. Go used: The electronics selection at some Seattle thrift stores is almost as good as Re-PC, and they'll give me a tax receipt for donations when I drop off functional stuff for resale. I would never recommend a non-tech person shop at Re-PC, and even for the nerds there are more caveats than positive reasons. I'll be back to Re-PC, but not to spend money -- only for the kids to visit the computer museum (as long as it lasts). read more

We have bought our last two computers from these guys and they have both sucked. Yeah, yeah I know what you're thinking 'they're used, what do you expect?' Well I do expect more then what they have given us as far as service goes. I think they are a bunch of pretentious tech dudes. They ALWAYS talk down to me and act dumb when I try to explain what the problem is. Hell, I don't know the tech terms so why don't you give me a break for chrissakes? Our PC got a virus once and get this - the dude shrugged his shoulders and said, no bull$&@, 'that's what you get for letting your kids go on Facebook'. Are you effing kidding me?! Call me stupid but I didn't know that Facebook was the #1 portal for viruses. Oh and yes, we did (and do) have virus protection software but according to the dude I shoulda known better then to have installed that particular brand. Unfortunately I am stuck going to them a couple more times. I am done with PCs and will being purchasing a Mac very soon but in the meantime Windows became corrupted on our latest computer and wiped it clean. This time the dude shrugged and said 'yup, if you do that you lose everything. Oh well'. I wanted to punch him in the face but instead they have our PC and are going to reinstall a hard drive that we had left over from our last PC disaster......on a computer that they sold us. At first trip I would have given five stars, got in and out with the parts I needed and saved a great deal. But after a few trips some things have been established about Re-PC in my mind at least. They DO have a great selection, they DO have many treasures any techie/geek/specialize pc fanboy/girl would go crazy for. But some things have put me off, twice now I've bought things from the glass cases (Ohhh Ahhhh) and the two items I bought were new, not refurbished, not second hand, supposedly new....they didn't work. So another trip was made to take them back, which of course you get looked at over a pair of glasses like you're a moron who probably doesn't know what the part is, where it goes, etc so that makes returns really uncomfortable (that is if your item IS returnable, a lot is not). Now the staff, ah that staff... A couple of the guys are nice, but the others are until you know more then they do about a particular computer/part/OS...then it's game on and you're going to be treated very poorly. I saw two employee's laugh at a teenager who was going on about this and that about his computer and the parts he was looking for (Kid KNEW his stuff) and when he walked away the employee's took a knock on his clothes and the way he talked, laughing pretty loudly. Poor kid just wanted a kindred spirit to talk shop with, instead he got the High school AV club clique. Selling items is really hit or miss, you'll wind up just handing them the box to recycle the things even though you could get a couple hundred off the parts on Ebay but don't have the time for listings/mailings. Upside you get to say hi to your recycled things when you visit again and they're priced on the shelf! "Hi monitor that wasn't worth anything and needed recycled but is now $75 and looking snazzy!" But if you have parts you don't need, great place to unload them and not worry about garbage pickup on your own dime for the electronics. Now, that being said, IF they work on the staff and maybe let them know 1. There are people who will be more knowledgeable than you and you should listen to them and treat them kindly. 2. SMILE, it helps! 3. Yes you do have a ton of stuff, more than any other place in the city, but $20 bucks for a gutted laptop with a cracked case bit much, work on that RIP laptop area, the pricing is horrible. Seriously, if they just worked on customer interactions the store could be so much better. All in all a 2, had to knock off a few stars for seeing the employee's make fun of a kid. read more

Bad: Bring in decent, working stuff and they'll decline to buy, offer to recycle it for free, then you can come in next week and see it for sale on the floor for $$. Uh-huh. Re-PC's supposedly main store is this location. Good selection of used printers, scanners, monitors, server racks, laptops, cords & cables. Not as good as the Tukwila location, but sometimes they have stuff the folks in Tukwila don't have. It's worth a trip for their Computer Museum. It's a bit shabby but has decent historical info and examples of landmarks in computing. Staff here isn't as friendly as the Tukwila store. They're not rude, but it's like they don't care sometimes. I recommend this location if you're in the neighborhood; otherwise the Tukwila store is better for one-stop shopping. read more
