I should have given this company a bad review two years ago when we hired them, but I wrote it off to just being a bad crew. Someone else in my building hired them last month, though and it reminded me what a nightmare this company is to work with. Two years ago, our crew spent the whole time sending personal texts while billing us by the hour. We also had exactly 2 boxes that we told them were extremely fragile and essentially irreplaceable. One of the guys took these boxes haphazardly to the truck and I heard a VERY loud crash. I went to check on it and found him shifting boxes on the dolly. When I asked if they fell he lied to me and said no. (This guy also broke one of our doors during the move and tried to claim that it was that way before. It wasn't.) I think they also charged us by the hour when they went looking for a stolen backpack that one of them had left outside. Fast forward two years-- These guys come in to move someone in our building out. They were shouting, dropping things, and just making a lot of noise and chaos. Later that evening we found a gang-related slogan carved into our elevator wall. Nothing like that has ever happened in our small condo building before. It seems suspicious. Helped me move from a small 1br in Lower Queen Anne to a 1br in Ballard. 2 guys showed up 15 minutes early. Moved my stuff without breaking it, and got the stuff there in no time. Small tips-- they charge for drive time from their office to your old house and back (in my case 15 minutes), so keep that in mind if you are outside Seattle. Also, they don't take AMEX. read more

At some point you reach the point where it's no longer a good idea to try and bribe your friends to help you move with pizza. I considered this when my friend with recent back surgery offered to help me move. The scenario of me bringing him the pizza in the emergency room flashed through my mind. So instead I declined the help and called Mountain Movers. This is actually the second time I've used double M. They had moved me from my apartment to a townhouse several years ago and I was pleased with the experience. In retaining the services of Mountain Movers, first I requested an online quote. They called back promptly (same day, within a few hours) and explained that it was hourly billing and they would have a two person crew doing the move and required a $150 deposit. We were able to arrange a mutually acceptable time and they even called to confirm the day before. The moving crew actually showed up 10 minutes early and did a quick run-through of the house to see what I was moving. They were quick and efficient; my four story townhouse was packed up in less than 2 hours. Unloading was also lightning fast; my items were redistributed in a three story house in around an hour. Plus I should add that no walls were damaged and all of my items were intact and scuff-free. So the final tally is: two moves, no broken items, quick service. And the whole thing cost $350. read more

Moving to Seattle from NY I had a horrible mover experience - living out of a suitcase for 2 months while all my other belongings were stuck in a warehouse in New Jersey then finally getting my furniture with scratches and paint smeared all over. So when it came time to move across town, I was very nervous. But I asked around my office for recommendations and Mountain Movers came up a few times. They were affordable - the minimum $200 move covered all my major furnishings - punctual, and actually very polite. I had a challenging move that involved taking some of the furniture on the roof to get it in/out through a sliding glass door located on a 2nd floor balcony. Seattle Mover's insurance policy did not allow for this, but they were great in that they provided me with the name/number of another moving company that may be able to tackle the project. Mountain Movers (Seattle Movers) were recommended by a couple of friends. Between my friends and the Yelp reviews I was pretty comfortable going with MM and only called one other company for a quick comparison. From the owner, Kirk, who accurately bid my move from Ballard to Washington Park, to the movers who arrived EARLY and ready to go, it was a flawless move. The 3 movers, Garrett and his two friendly helpers, hustled but took care in moving things. On arrival to the new house, they covered the floors with pads, unpacked, and even assembled a couple of items and left the house in perfect condition. All at bid, (really under, as they accommodated some last minute requests). Bottom line, hands down the least stressful, best move I've ever experienced. Friendly, fast, on-time, on-budget, courteous, clean. Nice job guys! Highly recommended!! read more

Can't be bothered with getting parking permits, drives over freshly seeded flowerbeds on personal property to wedge a way to large truck down an ally. Just a short note, but I used these guys yesterday and they were not only nice and professional, but not nearly as expensive as I'd thought PLUS they were able to fit me in last minute (last minute being quite literally LAST MINUTE)! If it comes down to it and I have to move again, I will definitely give these guys first dibs on my business. They didn't pad the clock, which in my inexperience with the Seattle area would be easy to do, and were very, very honest. Really understanding when we had to move our move date 4 times. I was skeptical at first that they didn't come out to our rental to check out the items we had for the move unlike the other movers I interviewed but it worked out well. I would recommend if you have a bigger home to have them come out to do an assessment but if you are like me, moving from a 900 Sq ft to a 1800 Sq ft home, it was no problem. I just had these guys move my stuff from Redmond to downtown Seattle. The move was awesome and the two men were professional. Below there was a review from Fred J. and he is referring to my move. First off he wasn't even a customer so his review shouldn't matter BUT what he was asking was unreasonable from my perspective. I had a 9 am move so I did the right thing and blocked off an area big enough to accommodate the moving truck before they showed up. They put their truck at the designated moving spot (which is meant for large trucks only) and unfortunately there was only one spot. They wanted my movers to move their truck to a spot which would slow things down at my expense and they did not comply with the NON-CUSTOMER's request which was awesome of them. It's not my fault or this company's fault that my movers showed up before them and got the good spot. A+ service from these guys. read more

Mountain Movers helped us move from Ballard to Ballard. Not impressive unless you know the move was done in 5 hours for a 3 bedroom house. The crew was 3 strong and were courteous and careful. Everything about working with Seattle Movers was awesome. Getting a quote from their website was a piece of cake. I emailed with Martin a few times and he gave me a price range that was almost half that of other companies I talked to. There was even a form I could fill out on their website to catalog our belongings so everyone knew what they were getting into. On moving day Tim and Bob showed up five minutes early, already in the alley behind our apartment building. They didn't waste any time at all. Bob set up the truck and Tim walked me through the paperwork. As soon as we got up to our apartment they started loading things up. Careful, professional, and insanely fast. They cleared our entire one bedroom (773 sq ft) apartment in 90 minutes. They were also really fun to talk to, but never stopped working to chat. I was just blown away. They zipped over to our new place and again pulled into the alley without even having to call. When I had the building manager show me how to open the garage for them their truck was already there. The unloaded just as fast, asking where I wanted things and setting it all up great. Martin had originally quoted me five to seven hours (including travel time), but Tim and Bob wrapped the whole thing up in four and a half. Just amazing! When it came time to pay they used the card I had on file for the deposit, so I didn't have to provide anything. It couldn't have been easier. These guys are great! Very fast, reliable, professional, meticulous and friendly service. I experienced no breakages or disasters. Their estimate was accurate based on the details that I provided on their site, I got a prompt callback and booking, and they turned up on time and were loading the truck within minutes having first assessed the contents and large items in my apartment. I was pretty wary of movers having previously moved to Seattle with a relocation package that included a large, well-known company who used movers who did not seem to know how to move furniture properly and acted like it was their first week on the job. That experience resulted in a huge hole in the back of my sofa and several broken items for which I had difficulty getting compensation to cover the losses. Mountain Movers is a small local business but you're guaranteed that the owner knows his business, unlike the large companies who farm out this work to temporary staff (as I learned the hard way). I subsequently heard disaster stories of friends finding that several boxes had gone missing in transit, and one instance where the movers who came from Tacoma, couldn't find 1st Ave and Seneca St in Seattle and they billed for their lack of familiarity with this city. I would definitely use this moving company again and not just because they use GPS to find addresses, but also their intelligence when gauging the size of a door opening versus the width of your bookcase, and especially because they actually read the boxes marked "Fragile" and treated them with the appropriate care. Finally, they also went out of their way to help me resolve a problem with an over-sized solid oak armoire and tried several approaches to make it fit, without damaging either the house or the piece of furniture. Mountain Movers/Seattle Movers were one of two companies we looked at to do our house to house move in Ballard. Their bid was competitive and their owner nice to work with. It ended up on the day of the move that they showed up with the 2 guys, 1 truck as promised plus coincidentally, another crew which was in the area and would have another job 4 hours later. So with 4 guys and 2 trucks the move went super fast and the guys were very careful and efficient. It ended up to cost less with more people/trucks because the time was so improved. We highly recommend this team. They are very good at what they do. read more

Affordable, friendly, efficient, careful...great movers. I was a little skeptical when my husband told me they are bringing in a 3 man crew given we didn't really have that much stuff and I thought the higher rate would surely put us over our moving budget. Well, it took 2.75 hours and came in under budget. I was completely amazed they finished the job in that time. My after thought was they could've totally just gone slower and hit the quote and made a few extra bucks...but they worked nonstop and fast. Movers arrived as scheduled. The move happened on a weekday and overall, the move was only 1.5 hrs. The movers were nice and I would definitely recommend again. I am most impressed by the customer service of their Operation Manager Martin. Definitely one of the best customer services in Seattle. I called other movers and most were booked out for weeks. Friends recommended Seattle Movers to me for my local (Phinney to Queen Anne) move and I am so glad they did. Things were good from the start. They were able to schedule my move for the date I needed, the estimate was reasonable, the back and forth was minimal and it was easy to get someone on the phone when I had a question. Yesterday was probably my most long and complicated move and once again Seattle Movers did not disappointment. Moving is NEVER perfect, but the workers for Seattle Movers seem to find a way to be respectful and positive. They are some of the hardest workers that you'll find working for a moving company. Utterly disappointed! I chose to go ahead with Seattle movers because of their prices since I didn't have much stuff to move. I was extremely disappointed with them however. I was provided a quote of $99.99 for 2 movers and a truck but they ended up sending 3 movers and charging for 3 movers. They had some issues with the truck I was supposed to get so they sent a different set of guys at 6:00 pm instead of my afternoon slot. I appreciate that they didn't push the day of my move but I was ripped off. If I was promised a quote for 2 movers in writing over email, I should have been charged for 2. I was never informed that I was going to get 3 movers. They also added an additional charge of $70 which was never mentioned in my discussion and email with the Manager. I tried calling the Manager to clarify the charges but no response. Even the crew wasn't able to get in touch with the office because they mentioned the office was closed in the evening. A truly frustrating and disappointing experience. read more

Last time I moved, I did it my own, renting trucks and everything. It was to save money but after all the labors and etc I wasn't so sure it was worth it. So this time I decided to use moving service. I've mentioned Yelp while doing estimate online, got 5% discount. I didn't even have to ask. Good stuff. They told me that they were gonna call me a day before, didn't happen. Hmm... Then next morning, they couldn't locate my apartment. They arrived a bit late, but since we bought an extra hour just in case, no biggie. Despite the bad weather (rain/bit of snow), they were always cheerful, and I think it's very important factor as no moving is ever easy. They also listened to our requests when we wanted things in certain ways. On moving day it was raining here and there. When they moved my first-generation HDTV (old 32" LCD), they didn't use anything to cover. It wasn't raining much, and was a short distance but still a minor concern. Maybe I should've told them to cover it, or cover the item myself. Probably my responsibility. IMO, you will save about $100+ if you do everything yourself; find labors, rent trucks and etc. But in the end, I'm glad that I used their service. It was worth it, and if I ever have to move again, I'll definitely consider them again. read more

After another company changed our date, and a second came in three times the quote for Seattle Movers we couldn't be happier. Bob and Josh called us an hour before our scheduled time to let us know they were on their way. They arrived right on time and didn't waste a second before starting the move. They, carefully and expertly, cleared our 2 bedroom (780 sq ft.) apartment in about 2 hours. The unload was even quicker and our total time with travel was 4.25 hours. I was very disappointed with the service. My move was relatively light and I usually have a couple of friends over who help me out. This time I had a leather reclining couch that needed disassembly and reassembling because my apartment door was too narrow and the entrance wasn't wide enough to take the couch as a whole. So I decided to opt for professional movers. Big mistake ... After most of my furniture and the bed was done, the couch was all that remained. The movers and I took a look at the screws and bolts below the couch. We had no idea how to disassemble the thing and were making guesses. Finally the movers decided it wasn't worth their time and left me stranded with no help at all. One of the movers did contact the owner to let him know that he couldn't fulfil his obligation and left me with a big fat check which added an extra half hour. I was too tired to argue since I had a ton of stuff to do and was still tense about the couch. There were a few things that really disappointed me: 1) How did the movers not figure out the disassembly for the couch. They are professional movers after all and need to know this stuff? Ultimately, I called a friend over from work. We sat for an hour and figured out what needs to be done to disassemble it. Us, a couple of amateurs could figure it out and professional movers couldn't? 2) I had told the owner that I had a couch that needed to be disassembled. It wasn't a surprise. The movers were ill prepared and didn't have the necessary tools. 3) I was tense since I was left with a couch and no help at all. I had to move out by end of day and this was an issue that had to be tackled in the next few hours. The owner never got back to me to even ask how things were going. At the least, the movers could have opted to say that they will consult professionals and get back to me. Nada. 4) When businesses can't fulfil their obligations, they usually discount services or do something to say that they care. I didn't get anything here. The movers were ready to go for their next haul and wanted to get out as fast as possible. The only good thing about this experience was that the movers were friendly. So I can't fault them for being rude or anything. But in this competitive world, there are expectations for businesses. If they can't fulfill these expectations, they need to refund money back and that is the truth. I'm giving my business to someone else next time. read more

We did not use these guys to move, but our neighbor did. Our new neighbor is a very nice man, but the movers had MAJOR temper issues about having to move their truck so we could leave. He actually dropped a load on the sidewalk and charged towards us because he couldn't believe we asked him to pull forward. Soo so so unprofessional, disrespectful, and rude! Not to mention they dropped his couch going up the stairs when our neighbor wasn't present. This moving guy needs a talking to, or be terminated if he can't handle it. read more
