An engine part installed by Seattle Water Sports failed and left me stranded on the water and put my engine at risk. The real failure, and the one that mattered to me the most, came afterwards. An almost total lack of responsiveness, follow-through or anything remotely resembling customer relations from the top on down. Can't recall a time where I was more unpleasantly surprised and deeply disappointed by a service provider where I had felt there had been a stronger and mutual relationship. Seattle Watersports, specifically Guy and Gino, really bailed us out of a bad situation. We were selling a boat with no trailer and our buyer (a big name boat store around here) backed out last-minute and left us scrambling. We had moorage that was expiring and a tight timeline to get it out of the water. Without a trailer, our options were pretty limited and we wanted to avoid the route where we had to buy a new trailer to sell our old boat. What a nightmare! I called up Seattle Watersports and laid it all out on the table with Gino. If you know anything about boat/car sales, you know this is usually the wrong call. You lose all your negotiating leverage if you do this. I did it anyway, and it honestly was fine. We found a price we agreed on, did a quick water test, they charged us a fair price for a couple maintenance items that had *just* become an issue in the last few weeks of owning the boat and we walked away with a check! The whole experience of selling a boat under a tight timeline was really stressful but Seattle Watersports really came through. They knew they had all the leverage but still treated us with respect and didn't try to take advantage of our situation. I was a little hesitant with these Yelp reviews but the experience we had was top notch. Other than selling our boat to them, we stopped in a few times over the years for wakeboarding gear, buoys, fenders, ropes - they have a great selection and so convenient for boaters on the north-end. read more

We are huge fans of Seattle Water Sports (SWS). We have purchased two brand new boats from SWS over the last decade+ and traded in one boat wtih SWS. We have always recieved top notch customer service from the entire crew there--from the sales side through supporting us as customers. SWS stores our boat every winter, we buy gear from them (boards, skis, ropes, wetsuits, etc.) in their store, have taken surf lessons and can't recommend them enough. We have a brand new MB Tomcat now for surfing. The MB boats have held up extremely well and our maintenance costs have been minimal too. We traded in our last MB after 10 years for almost as much as we paid for it originally! I know several friends who have also purchased boats from SWS. Very convienent location in Kenomore with Lake Access and large showroom with tons of gear in the showroom. Highly recommend. read more

RIP OFF, do not rent a space to store RV here. They double charged on rental and I had to tell them to return funds, which they did finally. Once they double charged and actually caught it and reversed it themselves. But the worst was: At the end I vacated the spot notified them at the end of May. They charged rental to account. They said I did not notify them. The person in charge is, or was, difficult to reach, left messages etc. By the time I do get to speak with her, she says the charge stands and due to not giving 2 weeks notice she charged me for the next month. Stay clear of this boat dealership, I have had the worst experience ever with the owner Mark Lord and his Seattle Watersports Team. I purchased a brand new Robalo with a Yamaha 150 hp outboard that was damaged prior to me taken ownership. He denied warranty work and charged me $3500.00 for having the boat looked at after i returned it from running the boat for less the 15 mins. He called me the worst customer he has ever had. I had to sign a document stating that i would not chargeback the credit card in order for my boat to be picked up by another dealer. He quoted $21,000.00 for a replacement motor , the other dealer $17,000.00. This is a very unrepeatable dealer. read more

One star is too many. When you're stranded on a lake the first day you take your boat out, you call the dealer, they laugh, and say, "I'm not a battery! I don't know if it's the battery." You get back to shore on your own, pull the battery, the cable breaks from rust, and you have it tested and it's dead. And the owner says, "Yes, we inspect our boats before they go out." Next trip, stranded - they delivered it with an empty gas tank. Checked oil - added 2 quarts. Checked trailer - clasp broken. You've been notified. Now let's put this company out of business since they don't lie once, or twice, it's how they run their business. read more

Stay away if you are buying a new boat! They will have you sign a contract and make a 25% deposit. Then they will delay delivery for months and raise the price on you!!! They will give you bad information about when your boat will be built. They told me that mine was not done and it could be a couple of more months. I traded in my bigger boat for an older Ski Nautique earlier in the summer. The boat was in great shape and Dan Bergman made sure that it was running properly prior to sea trial and ultimately me purchasing the boat. The boat runs great and is perfect for my needs. Very disappointed with the rip off service that I received. They ordered a part that was absolutely not needed. spent over $1,000 in parts and labor only to hear, sorry we don't know what's wrong with your boat. Took it down to Bakes marine and the problem was a loose negative wire connection. I mean come on why are you guys in business if you cant get the job done and more importantly, if you cant get the job done why charge your clients? i called down to Seattle water sports to get a quote for a dampener plate replaced in my master-craft. the quote for was 7 hrs of labor and i had the parts already in hand all said and one it was roughly 1350 dollars quoted. The service writer assures me they have did jobs like that before and it may be a couple hours more or less if there is issues. i agree and drop the boat off on a agreed date. They very next day i get a call from the service writer asking for an additional 6 hours of labor as the job is going to be harder than expected. i asked why it was nearly double the initial estimate ( mind you i called around and did my homework the job calls for 8 hrs at every other shop ) she tells me oh there is a bracket that needs to be removed and we need to pull out your fuel pump and there is a ballast pump in the way. Me thinking to myself the main center bracket that has to come out would have to come out anyway so that would have to be included in the estimate and they should have no reason to be touching my fuel pump as it has nothing to do with pulling the transmission out. As for the ballast pump it required 2 bolts being taken out and moved to the side. Everything she noted doesn't add to an additional 6 hours but just to be sure i call the master-craft dealer and speak directly to the tech and he confirms my thoughts being; fuel pump shouldn't be touched and no way it should be a 13hr job unless there is serious issues with the running gear which there is not. i promptly called back Seattle water sports and tell her that ill be in to pick the boat up i don't want them to do the job she says ok and it will be ready the next day. i think get a email for a invoice for 436 dollars. i quickly call back and ask what the invoice is for. she states they started working on my boat and they had 3 hours into it. I told her im not going to be paying anything if you new what the job entailed when you gave me the quote and it was completely wrong. im already out of gas and 2 hour one way drive time not to mention i have to bring the boat somewhere else know. she gets aggressive on the phone with me and i just tell her call the owner i would like to speak with him when i pick the boat up tomorrow. i show up early the next morning no owner is in sight. they ask me to pay i said no they bring out a manager of the board shop to speak with me at first he is aggressive with me then calms down. finally i agree to pay 200 dollars to take my boat home and not a cent more he agrees and i leave. i find it crazy that they wanted to add almost double the time to job with nearly no explanation. i would never recommend anyone take their boat here to get serviced. unless you liked getting ripped off. read more

I was disappointed because they were conveniently located. I relayed this info back to their service center and they did not seem to care. Great people - great boats. OK - this just doesn't happen. Got ready to launch my boat and noticed that the bilge was filling with water after starting the engine. All the plugs were in place and could not find the problem. Dropped in the SWS without an appointment at 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon thinking maybe someone could give me some advice. Instead of advice - They had me pull the boat into their facility and had a mechanic on my boat in less than 5 minutes. He found and fixed the problem (disconnected hose). They smiled,waved and told me to "have a nice day". Boom. Done. No charge. read more

STAY AWAY!!! Paid to have my boats outdrive serviced here. They disassembled and reassembled the outdrive with all new seals. Two days later the FIRST time I try to put the throttle down to put my boat on a plane something comes loose within the outdrive and gets into the U joint and causing it to explode and does a great deal damage. $3500 in damages!!! I returned the boat to Seattle Watersports showing them first how their mechanic hooked up my power steering lines correctly and most all the fluids has leaked out and of course separately what they did to the outdrive. I told Jeniffer who heads service if her guy can't even hook up power steering lines correctly god only knows what else they did wrong within the outdrive. I specifically stated I HAVE to be present when the outdive is opened. I MUST be called in advance!!! NOTHING IS TO BE DONE without me being there. I HAVE TO BE THERE WHEN IT IS OPENED. Said this over and over and over and over. So I can see what happened. See what came loose and caused it. Otherwise they can clear out whatever came loose and caused this...without my knowledge. Two hours later I get a Call. Jennifer went ahead had her guys open the outdrive case ANYWAY. I speechless. Would never have of expected such a bold act of defiance to conceal what came loose and caused this to happen. She lets me know i'm out of luck and the repairs will be very costly. Sometimes I'm glad I forget to read reviews before going into a business. I was looking for a PFD for our new dog so I could take her canoeing. They were out of stock of the size she needed but said they would order some and they would be in a few days later. I knocked off one star as they didn't call when they came in. I brought Lola in and we fitted her there in the store and left with one well fitting doggie PFD with all the features I was looking for. zippered instead of velcro, handle, leash loop, fully adjustable. This company is the WORST. Took our Bayliner in - my husband had put in a new battery backwards. They not only charged $130.00 for "diagnostic" but another $16.99 to turn it around. Our next excursion, the boat died in the middle of Puget Sound crab fishing (we hauled it all the way to Lake Cushman). Luckily an helpful boater towed us in (and wouldn't take any $ for it! - thankfully there are a few honest people in boating! We took the boat back in and they charged ANOTHER "diagnostic" charge of $65.00! At this point I went back to contest a second diagnostic as they somehow "missed" that we needed a new starter the first time! So $559.84 into it, they agreed to reimbursed $65. You guessed it - it never happened! WHAT A RIPOFF operation! So take heed when their front office tells you that BOAT really means "Bring on another Thousand". They're not kidding. I just bought a searay 270 from Seattle water sports and let me say that I am truely happy with my experience. The sales person "Dan" worked with me to make me a very happy customer. They took me out on two separate test boat rides. Putting it in lake Washington twice for me. Let me tell you that this is defiantly a family type atmosphere. The owner "mark" even came out to help with one if the test runs on the lake as well as "Guy" who is the sales manager and knew a tremendous amount about the boat. "Dan and Guy" always answered my calls and messages within an hour if me calling them. Most calls were answered right away. I can't tell you how happy I was with their customer service and making sure I was a happy customer. Even if I was asking a lot if them. They were very patient with me. Their mechanic "Izzy" was there to also answer questions about the boat and fix small issues Quickly before my purchase. We just took delivery of our 2018 Chaparral 21 H2O Sport OB and could not possibly be happier. From the beginning, Guy and Ted went to great pains to make sure our questions were answered and did so with surprising alacrity. Their knowledge and experience with honest advice guided us through the process of selecting options and choosing the boat, and packages that were right for us. Both Guy and Ted went out of their way to make us feel comfortable with taking our time to decide. There was never any pressure to buy anything. Just friendly professionalism and good humor. We feel that Ted and Guy looked over our new boat with a fine-toothed comb to make sure everything was perfect prior to and after delivery. I have shopped occasionally at Seattle Water Sports over the past 3 years. I purchased slalom skis for both my wife and I 2 years ago (dealt with Scott and Kevin), purchased a dog life vest and a few other items 1 year ago and I purchased a boat from them in January 2014 (dealt with Dan, Guy and Mark). I consider myself a savvy shopper - I'm very price sensitive and almost always buy used. That said, I do like quality stuff. I enjoy shopping at SWS and have always felt like I received excellent value for the money I've spent. I'm writing this review because I really feel like Mark, Dan and the team went out of their way on the boat purchase. My wife and I bought a used boat - a specific MB model that we had been searching for - and I felt like the team at SWS did a great job ensuring that we were happy with our purchase. They thoroughly addressed all of the questions and concerns that both my wife and I had during the process - not surprisingly her areas of interest were very different from mine. The guys covered all the bases like true professionals. Mark even searched his inventory and found an original set of replacement decals for the boat. Although this was something he committed to do when I made the purchase, I honestly didn't think he'd come up with anything. Imagine my surprise when he had them for me when I returned to pick up some accessories. I'm very pleased with SWS and would highly recommend them to anyone considering the purchase of a boat or watersports gear.
