If it was a little less thoroughly combined it would've been a 10/10. I had their PIE oysters and I ended up ordering an additional 9! Their cosmos was good, nothing spectacular, but their non alcoholic sparkling lemonade was awesome! Regarding service I'd say it's okay. A little slow at taking orders and completing orders. Took me a while to get cocktail sauce. They could've been kinder but I think it's just a matter of which servers you talk to. Overall it was a great first dining experience in Montreal and one of my favorite overall.

So glad that staff was able to seat us at the bar because the restaurant was mostly full. It's got this like old pirate ship kind of feel - looks like repurposed wood, a lot of lamp lights and generally a good time. I'm pretty sure that their menu changes from season to season. While we were there, we got the oysters, the bourgots, THE 12 INCH HOTDOG, and a caramel-y pasta dish. I also got a glass of white. The food was FANTASTIC. I also saw someone order a whole boat of oysters and temporarily felt envy, to which my friend said there's literally 2 of us. No way we can eat a small boat's worth of oysters. I really liked the vibe of this restaurant. Staff are bilingual, which always makes things easier when you're traveling. It's also opened late.

This place is great for either just picking up fresh fish to make at home OR for picking your fish…read moreand letting the experts grill it for you on the spot. Not a huge amount of seating and the three times we've been, we've seen lineups for groups larger than four waiting to be seated. Most of the items are offered grilled or fried, but you can ask for a different cooking method and they try to accommodate. They have a set menu from which to choose OR you can, as mentioned previously, pick your own fish by weight to be prepared. Unless you have a specific fish in mind that you must have and the exact cut or piece, I highly suggest just sticking to one of the menu items to keep your bill reasonable. The menu items are very fair in price, but if you start to get fancy and ask for a piece of halibut to be cut, don't be surprised if your meal quickly becomes $40 lol, which would be expected at a more fine dining establishment, but in this diner type of setting, is a bit much. I always order the grilled shrimp plate which is 8 medium-sized well seasoned grilled shrimp that come with crunchy, tasty french fries and a very nice, fresh garden salad. The price on that dish is $15, and it's a very generous portion. The appetizer sized calamari is also a very good deal at $10, easily shared between two people. Note, the calamari looks pale and unappetizing at first glance, but it's cooked just right and tastes great. For the fish and seafood lovers, this definitely is a more unique place and so many types of fish to try!

Then our appetizer (oysters) arrived but our wine did not. After we watched the adjoining table who arrived after us received their drinks and entrees (but no silverware), I waved down first a busboy and then the maître d', we finally received our warm Sauvignon Blanc that I can only imagine had been sitting at the bar for quite some time. After we finished our wine and our entrees had still not arrived, we asked for the check explaining that we didn't care to wait any longer but instead, after another wait, they brought us our meal. The food was overcooked and barely warm - likely from the extended time under a headlamp and the salad was okay but nothing you couldn't get anywhere else. Given, Place Jacques-Cartier is a tourist spot but this was some of the worst service I have ever experienced at this price point.

The steak was slightly over cooked and grisly, but I could have overlooked that if they had any seasoning. My wife asked if that was the way they do it, but any salt and pepper would have moved the dish to 3 or maybe 4 stars. My wife's lobster pasta dish again, looked great, but she took a few bites and pushed it away. Service was fine for a tourist area, but certainly not finer dining.

What a great meal we had but the service sucked…read more We all god the same meal so it was easy half pound shrimp and you pick your sauce and heat. The part that really sucked they didn't have any corn ! Which is terrible. I had to get rice which I didn't end up eating. The lady at the counter was ignoring clients and the old people in front of us through their hands in the air when she decided to take a phone call while looking at them walking to the cash. She was just not happy to be there and very slow. Our food sat there for a little bit we kept making eye contact with her so she would know but just would look back at the food and then leave it. Someone came to take over for her as maybe they noticed that she wasn't happy. I won't lie tho the food was great the sauce the crab one with butter and lemon pepper was amazing! We all said we would all eat it again just pick up delivery or try the location in the West Island.

The staff always goes out of their way to make sure you are taken care of even though the restaurant is always busy! This spot is always a treat and worth coming to see !
