This is our 4th time staying in this place. The managers have been so friendly and helpful to us. I absolutely Love Grover Beach and have not found another place I would stay at. It's not a luxury hotel but it's just right for us and the price. I really like that each room has a fridge and microwave in it... no coffee pot but they do provide it for you in the office with pastries. So far it's been very clean and comfortable the 4 times we've stayed there. Plenty of walking distance restaurants and 7-eleven is also up the street. We will be back.

I brought my own bedding, but the mattress was comfy.

Best value. Nice little place to rest your head. It's a little dated but the price is right. The owner is super courteous and super nice.

The room was very spacious and comfortable and the location was absolutely perfect--quick 5 minutes walk to the beach! The parking was easy as well! But the one thing that made our stay special was Johnny's hospitality! He was super friendly and amiable and made sure all our questions were answered and our stay was comfortable! We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quick, comfortable stay at Pismo Beach!

I was initially undecided between a few different options, but ultimately decided to stay at Beachcomber Inn. I made a reservation from Friday to Sunday. I had already received an email confirming that check-in would be at 4:00 PM on Friday. However, around 9:00 AM that same morning, I received a phone call informing me that no one had stayed in the room the night before, and that we were welcome to check in at any time without waiting until 4:00 PM. As we all know, most hotels charge extra fees for early check-in or late check-out, so receiving such a generous offer without even asking was truly surprising and very much appreciated. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, we were only able to arrive around 6:00 PM. When we got there, I learned that the person who had called me was the owner, Johnny. We had the chance to meet him in person--he is incredibly friendly, talkative, and genuinely welcoming. He personally showed us around our room, which made the experience even more special. The location of the hotel is outstanding. It's just about a block and a half away from the busy center of Pismo Beach, yet it is remarkably quiet. We had a very peaceful night's sleep, and the room temperature was perfect. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided--there was a coffee machine with plenty of coffee pods, and the bathroom was fully stocked with essentials like shampoo and shower products. The room itself was spotless and in excellent condition. Additionally, the nearby beaches are only about a 10-minute drive away. We even went to the sand dunes and rode ATVs, which was an incredibly fun experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Pismo Beach. Check-out on Sunday was scheduled for 12:00 PM, but once again, Johnny reached out to let us know that no one was checking in after us. He kindly offered that we could check out anytime up until 6:00 PM if we wished. Just like the early check-in, this thoughtful gesture--offered without us even asking--was both surprising and deeply appreciated. He could have easily charged for this, but it was clear from the moment we met him that his priority is simply to provide excellent service and ensure his guests feel comfortable and happy during their stay. We would absolutely recommend staying at Beachcomber Inn when visiting Pismo Beach, and if you have the chance, meeting Johnny in person is truly a pleasure. From now on, we know that every time we visit Pismo Beach, we will choose to stay at this hotel without hesitation. Through this review, we would like to thank him once again and hope to see him again very soon.

Unfortunately, our stay was filled with several maintenance and service issues. The elevator felt unsafe, the doors opened before the elevator had fully reached the floor, which was concerning. About an hour after checking in, we went to the pool. There was only one other guest there, but the towel rack was completely empty. Thankfully, we had brought our own towels. A staff member later came out to restock them. The pool itself was okay, although there were quite a few bugs in the water. The jacuzzi looked like it needed maintenance or a fresh coat of paint because it appeared greenish-brown, and there were no umbrellas or shade available around the pool. When we returned to our room, our key card had stopped working. We had to call the front desk from my personal phone, and a staff member kindly brought us a new key. We appreciated his prompt help. However, after returning from dinner later that evening, our key card stopped working again. The room also needed better upkeep. The shower tub had visible stains that made it appear unclean. The ice machine on our floor was out of service, so we had to go to the lobby for ice. We also noticed curtain rods left on the floor, which made the hallway look unfinished and poorly maintained. The staff members we interacted with were courteous and helpful, especially the employee who restocked the pool towels and assisted us with our room keys. However, the number of maintenance issues and inconveniences made this stay disappointing. For the price we paid, we expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, we ran into several issues during our stay that made it difficult to feel the value matched the cost. While there were aspects that were disappointing, we did appreciate being able to check out late, and the pet-friendly accommodations were a definite plus. Those conveniences were helpful, but overall, the number of issues we encountered outweighed the positives.

Unfortunately, what should have been a pleasant stay was overshadowed by an extremely disrespectful and upsetting encounter with a housekeeper named Mary L. I politely asked Mary if she could please provide tissues and toilet paper because these basic supplies had not been replenished in our room. Instead of simply helping me, she became confrontational and insisted that she had already left the supplies. When I told her that she had not, she then said that she remembered leaving the supplies in the room next door instead. She then handed me a box of tissues and two rolls of toilet paper in a very rude manner. I told her politely that I only needed one roll. She gave it to me with an extremely unpleasant attitude. As I was walking back into my room, I heard her loudly say, "What a fucking bitch." I was stunned. I have never been treated this way by a hotel employee, especially when I was simply requesting basic items that should have been available in my room. I am a senior citizen and a paying guest. I was not asking for anything unreasonable, and there was absolutely no justification for an employee to insult me in this manner. What made the situation even more concerning was that we had previously seen this same housekeeper entering rooms without knocking on more than one occasion. After being treated so aggressively, I became very uncomfortable knowing that she had access to guest rooms and, therefore, to guests' personal belongings. I immediately told my daughter what had happened. We were preparing to leave for Pismo Beach, and she encouraged me to report the situation to management because she was also concerned about our privacy and belongings. To be clear, this review is NOT about a missing roll of toilet paper. It is about basic respect, professionalism, privacy, and the way a paying guest was treated by an employee who has access to hotel rooms. Guests should not have to worry about being insulted for politely requesting supplies. They should also feel confident that their privacy will be respected when they are inside their rooms. I sincerely hope hotel management takes this complaint seriously and addresses this employee's conduct. Employees who interact with guests and have access to occupied rooms should be held to a high standard of professionalism and respect. This experience left me feeling humiliated, disrespected, and uncomfortable. Based on what happened, I would not recommend this hotel and would strongly encourage management to review what occurred and take appropriate action. If you are considering staying here, I hope management addresses these concerns so that other guests do not have a similar experience.

The room was very clean, and the hotel itself was well maintained. One thing to note is that the bathrooms have an open concept shower, so water can splash onto the floor. It isn't a huge selection, but with so many stores nearby, it wasn't an issue. I booked a room before reading reviews because it was part of the American Express "Hotel Collection." Usually, I don't worry about issues since they promote it. We stayed in room 205. I chose it because it was far from the elevator and on the opposite side of the street from the nightclub. Little did I know, we were actually right above the lobby kitchen. On our first morning, my wife said it sounded like they were doing maintenance because it was so loud, I was dead asleep! On the second night, we were woken around 5am to music so loud I could make out the words. At first, I thought, "maybe it's the bar across the street and they should be closing soon," since I thought it was still before 2am since the blinds were closed. I was wrong the music kept going. Eventually, I couldn't stand it anymore and got up, realizing it was almost 6am!!! I got up and followed the sound. Using the stairs next to my room, I found the music coming from inside the kitchen right below us. I went in and saw no one there! I went around the building through the front door and found no one there, I used the kitchen door by the lobby to see if I could spot an employee, but there was no one. When I turned back towards the lobby, the front desk attendant was returning and asked if I needed help. I told him, "Yes, turn the music down! It's 6am!" I went back to my room, but I was already awake. I could still hear it, though not as loud. Management should do a better job of enforcing quiet hours; this should not be a free-for-all, especially as the price wasn't cheap. I will not be returning to this property. My wife said, "this is the loudest hotel we've ever stayed at!" We did enjoy the beach chairs, bikes and happy hour up on the roof. Bartender service up there, not so much. Not a good choice on a wedding anniversary trip.
