My spouse and I decided to plan a weekend getaway and chose to visit Pismo Beach, which is located on the southern side. I was initially undecided between a few different options, but ultimately decided to stay at Beachcomber Inn. I made a reservation from Friday to Sunday. I had already received an email confirming that check-in would be at 4:00 PM on Friday. However, around 9:00 AM that same morning, I received a phone call informing me that no one had stayed in the room the night before, and that we were welcome to check in at any time without waiting until 4:00 PM. As we all know, most hotels charge extra fees for early check-in or late check-out, so receiving such a generous offer without even asking was truly surprising and very much appreciated. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, we were only able to arrive around 6:00 PM. When we got there, I learned that the person who had called me was the owner, Johnny. We had the chance to meet him in person--he is incredibly friendly, talkative, and genuinely welcoming. He personally showed us around our room, which made the experience even more special. The location of the hotel is outstanding. It's just about a block and a half away from the busy center of Pismo Beach, yet it is remarkably quiet. We had a very peaceful night's sleep, and the room temperature was perfect. Everything we needed was thoughtfully provided--there was a coffee machine with plenty of coffee pods, and the bathroom was fully stocked with essentials like shampoo and shower products. The room itself was spotless and in excellent condition. Additionally, the nearby beaches are only about a 10-minute drive away. We even went to the sand dunes and rode ATVs, which was an incredibly fun experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Pismo Beach. Check-out on Sunday was scheduled for 12:00 PM, but once again, Johnny reached out to let us know that no one was checking in after us. He kindly offered that we could check out anytime up until 6:00 PM if we wished. Just like the early check-in, this thoughtful gesture--offered without us even asking--was both surprising and deeply appreciated. He could have easily charged for this, but it was clear from the moment we met him that his priority is simply to provide excellent service and ensure his guests feel comfortable and happy during their stay. We would absolutely recommend staying at Beachcomber Inn when visiting Pismo Beach, and if you have the chance, meeting Johnny in person is truly a pleasure. From now on, we know that every time we visit Pismo Beach, we will choose to stay at this hotel without hesitation. We had the best stay here! We were welcomed by the host Kathie with a friendly smile and willingness to help. She showed us to our room and we were very impressed. This boutique hotel is quaint and offers rooms that are updated with attention to detail. The room we had was cozy, clean and comfortable. The kitchenette had a small fridge, microwave and was stocked with paper goods, coffee, tea and creamers. The fireplace offered a little extra warmth & comfort for us! The off street private parking was a bonus. All 7 rooms are on the 2nd level, no elevator but not an issue for us. We felt at home here and will definitely come back if we are ever in the area again. We were not disappointed, The Inn keeper Johnny was fabulous. He answered all our questions and treated us with respect. They have covered parking. Rooms were sparkling clean with the softest towels in town. The walk to the beach was great, about half a block. Restaurants are within walking distance. We highly recommend staying here. read more

I am a long time guest of the Beachcomber Inn, Room 7 is my go to. During my stay in late December 2023 I posted a detailed review, at least 3 different people also stayed at the Beachcomber Inn based on my detailed review. I am appalled to read the recent post from a "Lisa W". I knew Grace, she was there for a number of years and was always so personable, the next gentleman Innkeeper referred to as "odd" helped me during my December stay. I have only encountered Kathie over the phone. She was pleasant when talking with her when the phone was finally answered, most of my calls went to a recording and on one visit to town, I thought I would just stop by, there was no one there covering the desk rather a handwritten note from Kathie saying she'd be back at a certain time, that time came and went, no Kathie, so I just decided to stay elsewhere. I happen to know the owner Leanne, we are from the same small town, "scattered" she is here, there and everywhere so, ok I can see maybe referring to her as scattered, but "self absorbed", "narcissistic" please this is not the Leanne that I know and love, AT ALL. Furthermore, the "Odd" man (yes I know his first name but I refuse to mention it) that took care of the Inn during that December stay was truly a gentleman. He carried my bags to my room and absolutely refused my tip, and as far as selling edibles, please, this cannot be the same guy Lisa W is referring to though I do not know of any other gentleman having run the Beachcomber. Clearly this review is retaliation, and I am willing to bet "Lisa W" is a close friend or family member, a daughter perhaps? This type of thing is not cool and if you take the time to read it, you can see its very little about their stay at the Inn rather it is all about character assassination in a half ditched effort to drive business away. Clearly if all was well with Kathie's performance, she wouldn't need to be replaced. Shoot Grace was at the Inn for years and years, not sure why guy #2 moved on, but having read this review, it has "RETALIATION" written all over it. Surely Yelp has a protocol when it comes to these things, I hope Leanne gets it removed, this is so unfair. read more

Whatever this guy gets paid, they should double it. I recently stayed at the Beachcomber Inn and I have nothing negative to say. I felt so welcomed by the innkeeper as he greeted me by name the second he saw I arrived on property! He gave me a tour of my room which was spotless yet cozy. Cleanliness is very important to me when staying away from home and the inn did not disappoint. The room smelled clean and fresh; well ventilated compared to other stays that tend to smell stale. The bed was comfortable and layered with warm and soft blankets. The shower had a dispenser for shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel which was perfect for an underprepared packer like myself. Overall, I had a great stay here and I plan on booking again soon. read more

We had a wonderful stay at BeachComber Inn. The inn keeper Kathie was very helpful with everything including making nice recommendations of things to do. This hotel is adorable with 7 rooms, all nicely appointed. Instead of duvets the beds had bedspreads & sheets which is totally our preference. The property is two blocks from the beach and the location is amazing. This was our first time staying at this hotel. It was car show weekend so we weren't sure what to expect as far as being downtown and with the noise. We were pleasantly surprised. The noise was out there, but minimal. The room was very cute. We had 2 double beds, there was a table with 2 chairs, Keurig for all of your coffee needs, microwave and mini fridge. It was stocked with the essentials you may need if you forgot to bring them. Now, let's talk about Grace. We absolutely loved her. She was so friendly. When we checked in she gave us a bag of chocolate, a reusable grocery bag & a great attitude. We will definitely stay here again. So close to all the action and beach! Rooms feels like home and clean. Parking is a little tight if you have a big car but theres plenty of free parking next door. With the hype of the new hotels in Pismo this is still the hidden gem. This is a quaint 7 room hotel with a homey feel. The rooms are a cross of your grandma's house with updated decor. The quilts on the bed to the bowl of candy on the counter. It's the little touches. Well worth the stay and is perfect location to reach anything downtown. read more

My husband and I stayed at Beachcomber Inn back in June 2021 for our anniversary - just getting to the review now - but enjoyed our stay so I did want to make sure to write a good Yelp review. I thought the price was reasonable, considering how close to everything and the beach you are, when other places were charging so much more. It was great to have parking set aside just for the hotel, one space for each room. It is a small hotel, maybe only 8 rooms, which kind of adds to its charm. The room was very clean and decorated quite nicely. It was wonderful that everything was in walking distance and the beach was literally one small block away. After months of COVID shelter in place, I needed a quick get away in August. I stayed here mid-week to try to minimize contact with weekend crowds. The accommodations were perfect, clean and quaint. I had a quiet room, kitchenette (microwave, sink, coffee maker and mini-refrigerator). The bed was comfortable and the room was stocked with more amenities than I expected. Grace welcomed me upon my arrival. Off street parking is available as the hotel is built on pillars so the parking is underneath. Cutest place to stay in Pismo Beach which is an adorable town. A spacious room with a fridge (much appreciated) and everything you need. Very comfortable beds. Not just a chocolate on the bed, but a whole bowl of assorted gourmet chocolates! An easy walk to the beach, restaurants, and shops. But what makes the BeachComber special is Grace who picked us up at the San Luis Obispo train station and took us back the next day! Incredible. Look no further this is by far the cutest hotel in a great location for almosthalf the price as the ones on the beach. This hotel is literally 3 minutes walking distance if that to the beach, pier and many restaurants. Love that there are only 7 rooms at this hotel which makes it so much more pleasant as your not having to deal with a lot of people. Its very quiet. Kathie at the front desk is awesome! She personally walked us to our room which in all of the years we have traveled and we travel a lot no one has ever walked us to our room. She made sure we had everything we needed. This was our first time to stay at this charming place. The room was very quaint, had everything you would need. Keurig coffeemaker, with a verity of coffee pods. Microwave, mini refrigerator, little kitchen table w/2 chairs. Paper plates, plastic silverware, napkins, plus more. Comfortable King bed. Bathroom had makeup mirror on the wall, Q tips, makeup remover pads, cotton balls, much more than any other places we have stayed. Fireplace on the wall. Just so roomy & comfortable. Grace is the most charming lady, wants to make sure you are satisfied with the accommodations. After staying a few other places in Pismo we stumbled on this place... what a treasure... there were 4 of us both in king rooms..#7 and #1.. so cozy and welcoming.. great big comfy beds with beautiful sheets a and comforters on both. Such perfect amenities in each room.. perfectly decorated and so clean. There was a tray of morning pastries left out for all of us each am.and a great variety of coffee pods in the rooms complete with cups, sugar, creamer etc.. small fridge and microwave in room.. what a great find this place is! I could go on for hours about Grace, she was funny, kind, welcoming and such a beautiful person. I hated to leave her more than leaving Pismo.. I can't wait to go back and see her again.
