I had a score buying a gently used snowboard bag. At first I thought the price was high, went home and looked up online what the going rates were and even on eBay, it was a good deal. So I went back the next day and found the bag and took it with me. The store doesn't have a large selection of clothes, it's more on the snow gear and furniture. Surprisingly, my parents and I stumbled upon this thrift shop while in Mammoth Lakes, CA. We wandered in just curious but ended up buying two really good pairs of snow pants and some Christmas decorations for our home. Because it was Veterans Day, EVERYTHING WAS 50% off! Their prices are ridiculous for a thrift store. Also they write the prices in sharpies in their tags which is just really not smart and cheapens the value of the item. I asked if it washed off and the lady said no. Right after I asked, the other employee guy with a beanie started to tell a story of another customer recommending magic marker. I wandered into this thrift store and found a treasure trove! The prices are super reasonable and it's a very large space that's carefully organized. There are bins for snowboard binding gear, gloves, beanies, hats, neck gators, etc. There's a giant wall of snowboard and ski boots and other outdoor gear like backpacks, boots, poles, and snorkel fins! I walked away with a solid pair of climbing shoes and a neck gator but I saw a pair of Oakley 10k snowboarding pants for only $65! Such a steal. read more

They have the usual thrift store fare with the added bonus of sportswear for the slopes. They even have a section next door filled with snow sports gear: boots and boards for skiing and snowboarding. The proceeds benefit Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra, a program that provides outdoor sports instruction to people with any disability. This used to be the greatest spot to shop I. mammoth. I would regularly show up here with my kids missing ski clothes and purchase used clothes at amazing prices. Second Chance Thrift Shop came in handy when I forgot one of the cables for my Wii at home. They had miscellaneous cords and cables for less than $1 each. They also have a large selection of winter clothing (youth, women's and men's) but most were in poor shape. The ones that were somewhat used ended up costing $25-35 which I thought was way too much for secondhand clothing. Their belts were $5 and there was also a small pet section and a larger household goods section. I ended up buying a new belt for $6 at the Rite Aid down the street. We came here on a Friday and due to COVID restrictions, there is a limited capacity so you will more than likely need to wait outside in line for a bit. The line wasn't long. The shop is tiny, cute and has cool items like holiday ornaments, jewelry, and lots of snow and cold gear including boots and beanies. Went a couple days ago, and I was fairly impressed! They give you sanitizer to spray your hands before you go and limit the capacity to 10, so there is a lot of room to keep your distance between other shoppers. There's a good selection of winter clothes, skis, snowboards, boots, wetsuits, etc. I was originally going to buy a windbreaker, but the tag wasn't labeled with the price so they were going to sell to me at a standard price for sweaters. But I decided last minute to also purchase a board with bindings, so they threw in the windbreaker for free!! Overall, I got the two items at a great price and left a happy customer! read more

Probably the cleanest, well organized thrift store I've been too. When you walk in this store, you don't smell that musty odor from old clothes or things that haven't been cleaned. I'm a Chicana who only started snowboarding in the last few years. I've walked away with some really great purchases from this place! If you're new to snow sports, second hand is a great way to experiment with gear until you know what you like. This sport is inaccessible af but places like this help! End of Dec. last year before lockdown, I purchased a shrunken cashmere cardigan (which was great i wanted to use it as a base layer). I brought it up to the counter where a Karen (blonde, white, older) was ringing ppl up. When it was time to charge me for the cardigan she acted affronted that it was priced the way it was, making a big show out of checking it for other price tags, then melodramatically complaining that another employee had marked it too low. She then proceeded to hold it away from me remarking on the "quality" as though selling it to me was the last thing in the world she wanted to do! I finally said "yes, that is why I'm buying it" after a minute and she reluctantly placed it with the rest of my items. KAREN THAT IS AN OLD RUINED MARK&SPENCER CAST OFF not a brand new birkin bag???? I had NEVER received this kind of treatment from the other younger employees in the 2 years I had been going as a lighter but visibly Mexican person. I haven't shopped there since. I hope someone holds this racist accountable but it's Mammoth Lakes so I don't have high hopes.
