Agnieszka, the owner, has been wonderful with scheduling around my busy work schedule, working her magic on my daughter's hair for dances and events and even helping to get my elderly grandmother in for a style before the holidays. I'm not sure why I was talked to with such disrespect by the owner. I had a consultation with one of the hairstylists and we scheduled an appointment to move forward. The appointment that was scheduled was made for a Saturday in which we confirmed over the phone and in person. The stylist said she was going to follow up with me about using my extensions that I had from another salon. When she followed up with me she told me it would cost $400 to use them. I asked why? It's typically $20 a weft and I have less than 20'wefts. She said this is what the owner said. I said I'm happy to speak directly to the owner to explain that I have newly purchased hair from another salon but am going forward with your salon and in the future can purchase new hair but can you please use what I have now. She said she will speak with the owner again and follow up with me instead of the owner just contacting me. Which made no sense. Then when I called back a few weeks later, one of the managers at the front desk said she will put in a note for one of them to give me a call. Neither of them called me. She says, well you are coming in Saturday anyways so we can chat then. I said I just don't know if I need to be looking for someone who won't charge me a flat fee of $400 dollars to use my extensions. She goes no no that's not right. We of course can use them. I go, I was just told different information and then never followed up with. Then I received a text "confirming" my appointment but the text said for Friday and not Saturday. I would have never agreed to Friday because my husband works and needs to watch our daughter. So it was always for Saturday. When I called the salon to let them know this was an error, a different manager said it was always in the system for Friday. She put me on hold and went to talk with the stylist and they claimed they always said Friday. This is not true. I'm very good about putting dates and times in my calendar. And it was said to me even over the phone that we can discuss more on Saturday. And now I am being lied to. So I said to the manager I don't know if I can keep this appointment I need to see. And I shared my frustration with miscommunication right and left and I haven't even started with them yet. The owner was first saying how can we help. I was saying is there a way to speak with the stylist or the other owner about my initial questions. I'm not sure when I can schedule next. And then she told me what the appointment said , extension move up and partial highlight. And I said no we never said extension move up and I wasn't even told if we can use my extensions. And she started getting snippy with me saying if this isn't working out you should find another salon. I said I am just wanting clarification is all. I just feel like there has been miscommunication right and left mostly because I'm not speaking directly to the people I need to and not being followed up with. I was just sharing my feelings but still wanting to come to a solution and just move forward, but then she yells at me and says find another salon! And hangs up. I try calling back to let her know I didn't want there to be a altercation or issue. I was just voicing that there was a lot of different things going on and they never picked up my calls again to even have an opportunity to speak to them and I got a text saying my appointment was canceled. Never have I been mistreated this way or yelled at versus being about to have a solution met for the several discrepancies. I'm very disappointed in the customer service and the way in which I was spoke to and treated. read more

Pros: Staff is very nice and the salon itself is beautiful. Very easy to make an appointment. Cons: went in to get highlights, asked for blonde ash and it looked more yellow when I got home. The whole appointment took an hour which is very short for highlights, I think my appointment was booked incorrectly because they thought I was there for a haircut. read more

Great experience from the start. Friendly hello when I called ...and I was able to get the rare, same day appointment, because of a last minute cancellation. If I could give zero stars I would. I have been going to Ashley since high school and was ALWAYS satisfied with the way she did my hair. Fast forward 10 years later and Ashley moved out of state and I was recommended to Alexis for cut and color. To put it lightly, her skills are below par and her customer service is unprofessional. I gave her a few chances and this last time has put me over the edge to write this review. I went to get a cut and color done by her in July, and she did not do the foils correctly around my hair line. Chunks of color were missing. I had to go back for her to fix it. Although it was better than before, it still wasn't as good as it should be. I had a lot of blonde on the top of my hair when I would pull it back and a lot of color was missing on the sides. It was very stripey and not natural looking at all. When she cut my hair, she made a few comments about how my hair was so damaged and she needed to cut 4 inches off when I told her I only wanted a trim. Needless to say, my hair was cut more than a trim. I decided to go back to Alexis recently for cut and color. This time, I wanted my hair a little brighter and a trim. I wanted balayage, NOT ombre. As she was coloring my hair more blonde, she talked about how my hair looked like "fluff" and that brown hair looks better than blonde hair. She told me to pick my battles and that I can only have short blonde hair or long brown hair. Not only should she not be saying that but I had very long blonde hair that was conditioned while going to Ashley. Any professional hairstylist would know how to properly color hair while not damaging it. She started making me think that she didn't know how to take care of hair since she told me she recently cut all of her own lighter hair off because it was damaged. Since she said my hair was so damaged and looked like fluff, I had to ask her to deep condition my hair after taking the foils out. I get back to the chair and she does a cut. The cut was way more than I wanted off since a trim wasn't sufficient in her eyes. Then she blow dried my hair. When she was done, she said that my hair was not able to pick up color at the top since it was so dark brown. She said it wasn't "realistic" to have blonde on the top where I part my hair because of my dark natural hair. I end up leaving the salon paying A LOT of money and 3 hours of my time plus driving an 1 hour to the appointment. I get home... and this is what I turned out with. See pictures below! Needless to say, I was very unhappy with the way it turned out. It didn't look natural, it was brassy and orange on the top, and had chunks of color missing. I call back to make an appointment to fix my hair and they got me in a few days later. After thinking about how much needed to be fixed, I decided to cancel the appointment because I didn't think she was able to fully correct my hair color the way it needed to be. A 30 minute time slot with me blow drying my own hair at the end was not how I should be taken care of. Alexis talked to me on the phone and came up with every excuse under the sun about how my hair is supposed to look like that. She was not apologetic at all about how I was so unhappy with the way my hair turned out. I told her I did not want to come back in and was going to look for someone else to fix it. She gave me attitude, was extremely rude and hung up on me! This girl needs to get an attitude check and needs to learn how to be professional with good customer service. I'm not sure how she has lasted so long in the salon since both of my sisters, boyfriend, a couple of friends, and their mom have all gone to her and have absolutely nothing nice to say about Alexis. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. She not only lost me as a customer, but also everyone I know that goes there will NOT be returning. I now need to go and find someone to fix this mess. Not only am I extremely unhappy about my experience but also that I paid so much money and got nothing back in return. I have never been disappointed with the results and have had every color on my head from bright red to blue highlights to blond so I can attest to her ability to handle any type of hair request. I have lived downtown in Chicago for the past 6 years and still make the hour commute out to Second Nature just to get my hair done by Ashley, that should say something in itself!
