I came across Secret Nail Salon on Yelp a little over a week ago and decided to give them a try. I was able to schedule a same day appointment and was assigned to Ana. I was skeptical about having my nails done by her because I didn't see any of her work on their Instagram page. However, my experience there was phenomenal. Secret Nail Salon was good with having me in the chair by my appointment time and Ana delivered. I wanted New Year's Eve nails and she gave me just that. Social distancing no longer exists in this place. They wanted to sit me next to other ladies and I had to remind them about social distancing. Most ladies didn't have masks or had the masks under their nose and they had an employee sleeping on the couch. I got my nails done with Yanis which did a TERRIBLE job. She cut my hands all over the place and didn't want to remove cuticle correctly from my feet. She didn't want to give me a French because my nails are "too short". It seemed like she was learning how to do mani and pedis with how many times she pinched and cut me and when I asked her, she said she did the owners nails and she's diabetic... well thank god I'm not because I would've bled out. Upon entering I was greeted by the Owner with a smiley face and was offered wine, soft drink, water or the Cuban cafecito. I don't like giving bad reviews but I need to be honest about this place. I had an appointment when I arrived. I waited 30 minutes for my nails tech to attend me because she was applying eyelashes on 2 customers. I was already upset from the start because of the wait.. with an appointment. My nail tech was literally on her phone the entire time with her ear piece on. Having a conversation with someone else when I thought on several occasions she was talking to me. The staff and the owner were very nice and friendly, I can't take that away from them but the service I received was crap. My nails(acrylics) came out horrible. I told her I wanted the acrylic thin and the coffin shape thin. She did ombré, which also came out horrible. My nails were thick and the acrylic was bulging near my cuticle. The coffin shape was wide and the ombré was uneven in color. One nail was much brighter than the rest, which drove me crazy. I paid over $70, I think $85 with tip included and I was in the salon for 4 hours!!! My husband was furious because he was waiting for me at home and couldn't believe I was at a nail salon for that long. The salons I've been to before have taken max 2 hours and have given me great service. Needless to say, I never went back and don't plan to. read more

Talia aka Talita did a great job with my nails. She was super detailed. I got the gel artificial nails which are a little more expensive than the acrylics and combined it with normal polish. She did a fine job for that and my pedicure and she made sure I was happy with the process and the results. Their acrylics start at $30 for super short and they go up from there. The pedicure is $25. And the gel nail extensions which is more expensive but less damaging on your nails (and faster) than the acrylics are usually $55. read more

Even more reason to avoid this place.... the message was "Hi Destiny i seen your review and we dont charge $24 dollars for acrylics . We charge are acrylics STARTING at $25 DEPENDING the length on the nails. We dont charge for shape honey. And of course that doesn't include any add on that you'd like. Try the Chinese maybe they will be cheaper and worse quality." I have actually been to places where Asian people do my nails and it has been MUCH better quality. I also never mentioned anything about shape in my review, but since it was brought up the shaping is uneven and I've had much better elsewhere. Also, the selection of colors was very small.... I have gone twice once for a manicure and second time for acrylic both times they have cut me not once but several time on both hands. There customer service is horrible. Nail salons are always a hit and miss for me, this one was certainly a HIT. I waited until my second visit to the salon in order to post a review to make sure this gem was more than just fools gold. During a desperate search for a nail salon open on a Monday o stumbled upon Secret Nail Salon, which should be highlighted as one of the biggest perks of this establishment. I called ahead of time to ensure they had availability and experienced great costumer service and was assured a spot upon arrival. The person on the other end of the phone said I had been assigned to Mayelin, essentially the birth of a new relationship. Mayelin offered great customer service, impecable attention to detail, and a constant/ready ear for concerns and requests. I can honestly say that I have never had a nail tech be so mindful of my ideas and desires. This first visit definitely surpassed all expectations and though I forgot to take a picture of my new set of acrylics and I can ensure you I left with natural looking and perfectly shaped/painted nails. That manicure lasted over two weeks and survived impeccably throughout my trip to Aruba. Just today I went in for a refill and color change with Mayelin, this appointment yet again was made last minute on my part and the staff graciously accommodated for me. The biggest reason I am rating this establishment a 3 is because of an incredibly racist comment by another technician who wasn't working on myself. I asked this woman if this particular salon did a type of nail shape, she said yes, we were talking back and fourth and it was all good until she said: "Yeah and if your nail breaks, you just come back and we'll fix it, you're paying for quality here not like those Chinese people." That was disgusting, RACIST, and shameful to hear, and doesn't make me feel like coming back. First, second, and third of all how can you generalize an entire nationality. Also so ignorant to boil down all Asian people to 'chinese.' We had such a great time up until that point, and I won't be returning. That's like me assuming you're Mexican because you're Latina. The salon looks nice, the prices are decent, the ladies are nice and really good at doing art designs on nails.
