The massive mirror behind the bar makes you feel like you've stepped into a classic Western movie, adding to the unique charm of the space. Their signature Sage Margarita is a must-try. The bar is filled with the subtle aroma of burning sage, which creates a memorable experience before you even take your first sip. The cocktail itself was delicious and unlike anything I've had before. My personal favorite, however, was the Mezcal Paloma. Our bartender, TJ, crafted it to perfection. Watching him work was like watching a magician at his craft, every drink was made with skill, attention to detail, and genuine passion. I understand many places are understaffed especially during big events like Indian Market. In case a manager reads these reviews here are some suggestions. 1. Place signs around outdoor seating area notifying guests to place drink orders at the bar. 2. Designate at least one person to take orders at tables indoors. This should be easy to track based on who has menus and who doesn't. 3. Set up an online ordering system and place QR codes on tables for easy ordering. Give option to place orders at right or left side of bar. My aunt, mother and I were ignored multiple times by multiple staff after we asked at bar if we should order there and were told to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly. Two other tables that came in after us were served. I then had to go up to the bar to ask to pay as no one came by again even after all our drinks were empty for at least 10 minutes. Again multiple staff walked by us multiple times. Hard not to read into the reasons we were ignored specifically when several groups were being tended to. read more

The drinks here were solid. But the service started out terrible, so not sure I would return. I would more likely go to Tonic (reviewed separately) for cocktails. When I arrived, I originally wanted to visit the restaurant, which was closed for the week due to a family emergency. So I presented to the open seating bar. Was ignored a long time. Got up to go to the bar and someone else stole my table. Took a long time to be acknowledged by the bar tender and finally made an order. Took quite a while to get it. Things got better when a bar seat opened up and I moved to the bar. But keep in mind, a different bar tender pretty much took over and kept my drinks flowing. That first bar tender could not hang, demonstrating poor time management skills and appeared to be moving slowly. The second bar tender, I think his name is Hector, really turned things around for me. I visited Secreto (another hotel based outfit, in the Hotel St. Francis) because they are supposed to be a "cocktail experience," boasting "garden to glass" cocktails. Dark wood and southwestern palate for decor. I had: Smoked sage margarita: flagship drink, smoked washed premium margarita (super herbal) Ghost ranch reverie: Tequila with peach, apricot shrub, lemon, seltzer, smoked rosemary (light, not too sweet, an "homage to the passionate artists of the southwest) Madonna of the Mesa: tequila blanco, pomegranate, mouth herbs, lemon, rose water (soft and balanced) Secret garden: basil infused gin gimlet with lime and chomilre infused honey. "Botanical crispiness meets honeyed serenity." I liked the basil, but the honey wasn't my thing. But a good cocktail. Again, drinks were good. On a Thursday afternoon, it was initially crowded and the initial service was terrible. But Hector saved the day. read more

Defs busy and think there was one server (who did amazing).. was fine because we were in no rush but drinks do take a while to make as they are very intricate and delicious. I've been coming to Secreto for years! Hands down one of the best margaritas in Santa Fe! I know that they're smoked. Margarita is their claim to fame, but the house margarita is where it's at I think. They have a decent happy hour where Margaritas are $10. We always enjoy sitting outside. Secreto Lounge is located in the same hotel as the Gruet Wine Bar. After I stopped by Gruet, I decided to check Secreto out. I really liked the atmosphere and thought it felt very cozy. The bartender was friendly. I ordered the "Missed Calls" cocktail, which is similar to a Manhattan cocktail. This drink was super smooth and I could tell that they used high quality ingredients in the cocktail. If I hadn't been pressed for time, I would have tried a second cocktail for sure. read more

I walked in not expecting much(see above inside hotel in the touristy part of town), but the bartender, she made me thirsty for many of the libations. I tried the smoked sage margarita to start. The concoction came together in a wonderful way. The tart of lime with the aromas of sage worked great. Second was the Arbusto. It looks basic, but the combination of the celery bitters and the vinegar tones creates a pickle back flavor that I have never had in a tequila drink before. Original and quite good. Connoisseurs of secret bars and speakeasies, I was surprised to find this place very open and not truly lending itself to be clandestine. To top it off, 1 of the 7 cocktails on the menu were 86ed, as well as two of the same menu showing different ingredients for said cocktails. I was not impressed at all.
