Another great meal at Boxcar, again with the Santa Fe Foodies. All nine of us enjoyed the meals. We went for Taco Tuesday; you can get $2 beef tacos, which many members did and said were very good. However, I decided to go with an appetizer I've never tried, the Bang Bang Shrimp, which was dynamite! You get four very large, crispy shrimp in a sweet-and-spicy sauce, though I didn't find it spicy, if that's a concern for some. The sauce was very tasty; the shrimp had great flavor, were plump and tender, and they were indeed crispy. This went very well with the arugula under the shrimp. I'd order this again in a second. I then had two tacos à la carte: Baja Fish beer-battered cod and Carnitas. Both were very large and excellent. The pork on the Carnitas was indeed crispy as it should be, and the cod was perfectly fried and delicious. My wife had the Asian Tuna Noodle Crunch Bowl: seared tuna, lo mein noodles. The dressing was superb; the Tuna was perfectly seared raw, and all the items that came with the salad (mango, red cabbage, daikon radish sprouts, kale crunch, edamame, cilantro, peanuts, toasted sesame) made for a lovely and delicious meal. Our server, Tony, did a fantastic job of keeping us all happy. My only 'complaint' was that Boxcar doesn't serve their amazing Brussels sprouts, or at least not all the time. Not on the menu. I told Tony and the manager how much I love them and was told it may come back as a special from time to time. Man, the Boxcar Brussels sprouts are amazing! Boxcar has very, very good food, and I would usually avoid what appears to be a 'sports bar,' but James Beard Foundation-recognized Chef Eric Stumpf will please the foodies every time. What is nice is that Boxcar has several seating areas, so if you're into food and not the 'bar scene,' they can seat you in an area that is quiet. read more

They do not offer fried pickle as a side and cannot order it in half order. Ordered the burger and I had to put the burger together myself,not sure if this is a Mountain West thing. Also the bacon was sticking out. Have to pay for ranch dressing, was told after the food was served. Waited for the dressing to come and the Orion rings got cold. Wasn't that busy but still took a while for the food to arrive. Out of tacos for Taco Tuesday by 10 pm, but they still offer the tacos at the regular price. Went with a group for lunch on a friday. Large space with lots of seating options inside and out. Food was good. I had the lasagna roll. Their homemade garlic rolls were not great IMHO. They make their pasta in house which is a bonus. Service was good. They did bring all the other orders out several minutes before mine which isnt ideal. A gust of wind blew one of the outdoor umbrellas down around our table which as startling. The manager did stop by out table later and check that we were ok and gave us a 20% discount on the ticket. We held our Toy Drive here this year. It was a huge success and Boxcar people handled it well. Service was great and with a houseful of customers, it wasn't easy. They were right there to take orders and before we knew it, our drinks and food was served. They were even nice enough to let us know when we still had a few minutes left for happy hour. This place is so fun. Seemingly the only sports bar in town outside of chains like Buffalo Wild Wings. We watched 2 of the Nuggets playoff games here last week. You'd think in New Mexico that a bucket of chips with queso, guacamole, and salsa as sides would be a home run, but it was all but inedible. The queso tasted like it came out a Kraft Mac&Cheese box, the guac lacked any lime, onion and was very short on jalapeño, and the salsa was best of the three, but overly fire-roasted and clearly out of a jar. Not a fresh bite of anything. Server took the still -98% -full plate away and handed us the bill without even asking if there was a reason we did not eat it. We had just arrived into town and and we were a little hungry so we decided to come here for meal. The place was all opened up so whether you sat inside or on the patio, you felt a nice breeze. It is a sports bar so plenty of TV's to see all around. Justin was our server and he was very good. He is the reason I am giving four stars to this review. I really enjoyed drinking the ExNove Extra Time Red Ale. I have always preferred a red ale and it is hard to find a place that serves one. When I saw it on the menu, I had to have one and this was was exceptionally tasty. I wish I could say my food was good but it just wasn't. I might have ordered the wrong thing but I figured you really can't mess up chicken fingers right?? The chicken was hot but it tasted like it had been sitting for a while. The tots were good though. My daughter enjoyed her Impossible Burger with a side of chili which was definitely New Mexican style. Quite a kick! Super cool restaurant in Santa Fe! After flying from Phoenix to Albuquerque and driving to Santa Fe, we were hungry! I opened up the Yelp app and found boxcar was still open and noticed they had a huge variety of menu items to choose from. I started off with a cup of the fire roasted vegan chili, which was really good. The roasted poblano peppers in this chili gave it some heat and also a lot of flavor. I liked that the chili was organic as I believe organic food just tastes better. For the entree I ordered the veggie burger, which was also really good. It tasted like the burger was made in house and the fixins on the side were fresh and bright. I ordered this with sweet potato waffle fries, which were also REALLY good. I was in Santa Fe this past holiday weekend and my cuzin and I decided to head to Downtown and have a drink or two. She's been to Boxcar before but at their previous location. Boxcar was a lot of fun and nice and warm inside too since it was snowing during our visit. We decided to go with the loaded chicken nachos, a couple of beers and a shot of tequila for me =P The nachos were ahhhhmazing, chicken, bean, lots of cheese, hatch green chili ( a must when in NM), guacamole, and sour cream. I decided try their lager and it was alright, my 2nd beer was a Modelo. The restaurant was also very lively on Saturday. A lot of TVs and college football, fans hooting and hollering. Bathroom was very clean. Javier was our server and he was very chill and served with a smile. Whenever I go back to Santa Fe, I'll definitely stop in to watch a game and throw back a cold one. read more

Pool is a room rented (5 dollars per hour) away from everyone else, so no community no vibes, just silent tennis on the TV and mediocre music playing. After serving us multiple drinks, a chud little waiter came to check our IDs and apparently temp. paper IDs are not allowed (it's scanned and been accepted at every other bar in Santa Fe). They then held my fiance's entire wallet in the back and couldn't procure until we made a fuss and Bitknee got it back for us. Default tip was set to 40% btw. Fun and lively bar restaurant serving great food. I went there on a Saturday afternoon with my dog and we were seated on the outdoor patio. This was another great experience! The servers were friendly and fast, and provided a water dish for my dog. I ordered the bison sliders with truffle fries, and they were delicious as usual!
