    Agave Restaurant at The Eldorado
    Maureen M.

I stayed at The Eldorado recently for a conference, and at one point had lunch at the attached Agave Restaurant. In a word? Nope. My server was attentive and professional, but the food? Nope. The burger was not great, and the french fries were frozen. Neither were worth the calories. Pros: convenience if you're staying at The Eldorado, live Spanish guitar playing in the restaurant, service Cons: food

Agave restaurant is located in Eldorado Hotel just a few blocks away from Old Town Santa Fe. It's in a good location and is a good complement to the hotel itself Overall, I found the food to be ok...and definitely pricey (expecting it especially for it being in center Santa Fe tourist area!). They were all good but a bit limited in terms of selection and taste (most were on a bland side). That said, portion was not small, so make sure to pace yourself or go with someone who will split different plates with you. The restaurant itself had a nice, quiet setting. However, I found it packed a bit of a lively ambiance. It was more on a quiet side and I wished there were more crowds to spice the environment up a bit (there were just a few tables in the dining room...and not anyone at a bar area at all). I supposed many people may not know to seek this place out. Perhaps, if you have time and are in the area and are looking for a low key, quiet place and don't mind some high price point, Agave is definitely a decent place. I wouldn't mind eating here again.

The food is amazing. Would highly recommend the pancakes for breakfast. The service is great they come to check on you every couple minutes. The setting is also amazing with gentle lighting and great art. Completely cleaned the plate!!

Eggs on eggs benedict are normally poached ..... not hard cooked

We have stayed at this hotel for years but recent experience at Agave for breakfast left us disappointed. We were the ONLY diners at the restaurant on a Sunday during brunch. Service was extremely slow, waitress forgot to serve my juice until reminded, blue corn pancakes tasted reheated, walnuts on the pancakes were rancid. Eggs benedict were hard cooked and potatoes were cold. When I asked for a manager he was out and no one here could do anything about it and we were asked to wait for him to return, within 30 min meanwhile we waited with the bill. Skip this place as there are many great restaurants in Santa Fe.

Had dinner there last night! Excellent food & service! I ordered the pork chop; it was cooked perfectly! My husband had the ribeye; he loved it. We would recommend to anyone who loves incredible food!

This is their happy hour menu for food. The rest of the items on this menu are as good as the nachos you can't go wrong here.

I remiss of not taking a picture... I came here for happy hour, I ordered the nachos and added steak.. The food was outstanding, and the beer was equally as good... I am stuffed and very satisfied. If you're looking for a great happy hour place I would not pass this one up....

Timely stop for Happy Hour at Agave when a clap of thunder seemingly shut down power after all of our food and drinks were served. Tables around us not so lucky and were advised to move on. That meant no lecky to pull even a tab, so it was all on the house! Amazingly low HHr prices for the fancy El Dorado Hotel (4-7PM M-F), we would of paid, and not seen in cities with lots of competition. Great bar food sampled: --6 Red Hot wings, picked radish, cooling herbed yoghurt $4 --Charred Brussels, pepito pesto, Fresno Chile and chile yoghurt $5 --3 Kobe and cheddar sliders cooked to temp $6 --Premium wells and Casa Margarita blanco tequila, triple sec, agave made to order $5 Beautiful lounge area with large bar area with TVs and booths. By comparison it was $14 for a margarita at Bell Tower Bar at La Fonda offering a 5th floor view overlooking the Plaza with no Happy Hour.

Place signs around outdoor seating area notifying guests to place drink orders at the bar. 2. Designate at least one person to take orders at tables indoors. This should be easy to track based on who has menus and who doesn't. 3. Set up an online ordering system and place QR codes on tables for easy ordering. Give option to place orders at right or left side of bar. My aunt, mother and I were ignored multiple times by multiple staff after we asked at bar if we should order there and were told to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly. Two other tables that came in after us were served. I then had to go up to the bar to ask to pay as no one came by again even after all our drinks were empty for at least 10 minutes. Again multiple staff walked by us multiple times. Hard not to read into the reasons we were ignored specifically when several groups were being tended to.

Not because of the atmosphere. Not because of the location. Because of Katya. Katya is not my favorite bartender. She is my favorite human being. I've spent enough time in bars to know when someone is good at their job. Katya operates on an entirely different level. She can take what feels like sixteen orders at once, remember every single one, deliver them with absolute precision, keep the entire room moving, somehow do the math in her head, and still make every customer feel like they're the only person sitting at the bar. The basement bar itself is exactly what a great dive should be; a shithole. Heavy hobo stab vibes upon entry, including Katya. Smell: multiple buttholes farting at once. Climate control: sweaty patron dependent. Lighting: liability. TV: playing a rotation of trash 80s DVDs . If business schools were smart, they'd study her. If hospitality groups were smart, they'd clone her. If Santa Fe has any sense at all, they'll do whatever it takes to keep her exactly where she is. Cash only, so come prepared. And bring plenty of it, because she deserves every penny. Katya must be protected at all costs.

The shrimp and the vegetable appetizers were kind of ehhh. I did love the green chile stew. The enchiladas were good but nothing special. I also got a paloma and it was strong. Definitely tasted mezcal but not much of the other flavors. Also, they corrected their mistake but I did call in a reservation. It took three phone calls on two different days. The person who picked up took my reservation but apparently did NOT record it in their reservation book. When we got there our reservation was no where to be found and even worse, the hostess said this had been happening a few times but they didn't know who was taking these reservations and not writing them down. Now if it was a one off, I'm just unlucky, but if you're telling me it's an issue, I think it's something management should really work harder on solving. The hostess was nice enough to be like you'll be our first priority for seating if any reservations don't show up and we were able to get a table fairly quickly which I really do appreciate. Other than that one staff issue with the reservation, the other staff were all amazing and our waitress came by a few times to check in on us and her and other staff came around to refill water.

Our first visit was on a Monday night, and our server was fantastic. Forgive me for not remembering her name. I should have saved the receipt. As starters we ordered the bacon wrapped dates and the bruschetta. They allow you to choose four different toppings for each piece of bruschetta which is really nice because all the toppings sound so good. To drink, I had the minimal intervention wine flight, and my husband had the hatch green chili margarita. I enjoyed my flight, especially the Chenin Blanc, but can't lie, I was a little envious when my husband's margarita arrived! The bacon wrapped dates were tasty per usual, but the bruschetta was outstanding! We did not finish the bruschetta because we also had an entree coming, the Pasta New Mexico. It was everything you want pasta to be with a good kick from the hatch chili and red pepper flakes. We left fat and happy! Later that same week we came back on a Friday night, and it was hopping. It looked like there were two major big parties happening which initially concerned us that we might not make it out on time for our event that evening. However, we believe our server got our order to the kitchen before putting in the big one! Yay! And our order was the same as Monday night because we enjoyed it so much. The only thing different was my drink. I got that hatch green chili margarita, and it was super refreshing! Our food came out of the kitchen at a decent time, but we did notice that the bread on the bruschetta lacked the toasted/grilled texture that it had on our first visit. Maybe the kitchen pushed it out too fast or there was a different chef that night. It was still edible but not outstanding like it was the first time. Like most places, it is slower at the beginning of the week and very busy come the weekend which likely affects the quality of what you get. But overall, I think it's a solid place to drink/dine. If I get the chance to visit this city again, I will definitely come back.
