The Dragon Room Bar was truly memorable. Although there's no reservation for an impromptu birthday gathering of 8, we found a large round table not long after we arrived. We had been few years back for our anniversary and ever since then we had wanted to go back. The waiter did his best to gather extra chairs and we were able to all fit at the round table. To my amazement, we had found a spot for the night to celebrate my birthday. The waiter asked what we had wanted to start with besides water for everyone. We got a bottle of red wine started and some margaritas along with a manhattan. Then afterwards couple of fish tacos and some carne asada arrived. We had great drinks and tasty food. Everything is delicious and so much great fun vibes. A definite memorable birthday to remember at this small but fantastic bar. Here's to coming back to the Dragon Room bar sooner. read more

What a lovely hidden gem in Santa Fe! My boyfriend and I checked this place out on a quiet Sunday night & loved the ambience and decor. Every touch is well thought-out and beautiful! We were surprised to learn the bar has been closed a few months for renovations, and we are some of the first to wander in before their soft re-opening Tuesday (5/5). Gorgeous bar! Love the southwest ambiance with the chuhily glass sculpture hanging in the center of the room. Amazingly beautiful. We sat at the bar and the bartender was not only attentive, he cleverly anticipated what we wanted and delivered before we asked. Wow - that's some real talent! This place was so cute! A few coworkers and I went out for a light meal and drinks and this was the perfect spot. The ambiance is great. The decor is very much in tune with the local dynamics and there was even a man playing the guitar to set the scene. I saw that for big groups, there is a room with a fireplace that was on and it was perfect on a crisp autumn night. The server provided great drink recommendations and the food came out very quickly. The food was amazing! I ordered the crab cake and our waitress Ruby (who was INCREDIBLE) picked my appetizer for me because I was torn between two and she selected the beet salad for me. I ordered a drink (Elephant Paper) and enjoyed it very much. I got the smash burger with sweet potato fries. I also asked for some of the spicy salsa to dip the fries in and that sweet spicy combination was amazing. I really enjoyed all the food drinks. The decor was fun and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was attentive and friendly. I was extremely happy with the experience. This restaurant is near downtown Santa Fe, so parking can be an issue. Online consensus for The Pink Adobe is middling at best, and no one we encountered had any personal reviews ‒ "They changed owners, and they say it's not the same," was the one thing we did here consistently ‒ so we eliminated that longtime Santa Fe institution from our plans. But not wanting to miss out on its ambiance, we decided to visit its adjacent bar, The Dragon Room. That was a smart call. The Dragon Room is a small room, dimly lit, loaded with exotic art and artifacts, many of them dragon themed. Two large turquoise glass chandeliers hang from the ceiling, contrasting the beige and maroon tones that dominate the room. There is a selection of small plates, and they also serve the full Pink Adobe menu. The drinks are excellent: For tourists on the Santa Fe Margarita Trail, there is a special margarita called The Black Dragon made with Chambord, the French black raspberry liqueur. Friends had the margarita made with green chile (when in Santa Fe...), while I tried the Dragon's Paper, made with rye, Aperol, Nonino, and lavender ‒ excellent. Guacamole is made at the table, and their salsa had a unique flavor I couldn't figure out (epazote?) but really liked. Service was excellent, as well, up there with the best places we visited in Santa Fe. The Dragon Room was easily the most stylish and, dare I say, glamorous bar we visited in Santa Fe, and I wish we had made another visit. Meh. This used to be a wonderful local hangout, with cheeky waitstaff, murky atmosphere that felt bohemian and full of possibility, like a good dive bar should. The food and drink were always good enough, reasonably priced and downhome. Now it's a pretentious wannabe place that's "performing" ambiance in a way that's superficial, highstrung, and unwelcoming. The prices are whacked (not unlike other places) and in line with the pretension. The food is mediocre. A wilty, sparse, sloppywet caeser "salad" with two sad romaine spears charred just on the edges for $14. The pork was overcooked and dry. The tacos were uninspired. The burger was the highlight, with the manager bringing us a flight of condiments when we asked for something to put on the bun. The cocktails had a nice flavour, but the glass stacked full of ice amounted to about half a jigger of liquid. Top it all off with a (coked out?) waiter who ran from table to table as if he was late for something far more interesting than whatever he was doing there. Snappish and chaotic. Interrupted patrons several times trying to clear their tables even though they clearly weren't finished and there were plenty of open tables, so even the rude excuse of pushing through more business wasn't a reason. Highly recommend! Stopped in for dinner and drinks while in Santa Fe for the night. This was a very charming little bar with a lot of character. The food was amazing and some of the best Mexican dishes we've ever had. There was a nice variety of food options although the menu is not real big. (Which is my preference - when a restaurant focuses on doing less really well). Hubby had the seafood enchilada and it was spectacular. I had the mushroom quesadilla which was equally delightful. The servers were incredibly friendly and helpful (if a bit slow). Don't go if you're in a hurry. And parking is challenging. We would return here often if we lived closer. Fantastic food. read more

It had been a big day. We had driven up from Albuquerque to go house shopping. Then my sister-in-law from Austin wanted to go to the church with the spiral staircase. I wasn't feeling the church tour so I ducked in to enjoy a margarita while my husband took his sister down the street to see the church. I sat on that comfy pillowed bench and drank my house margarita. We had reservations across the alley at The Pink Adobe a little later, but I wanted something to nibble on. Zucchini Fries. That's healthy, right?! The pile of zucchini was enormous! That's perfect....they will be back from the church soon and we have an hour to kill...it'll look like I was thinking of them and not being a little piggy! I'm so glad they never saw the full stack! I killed at least half of the plate before they arrived. The batter was very light and crispy, the zucchini was perfectly cooked, and whatever that red spice combination was, was addictive! I shared. It was the right thing to do. But truly, if that was my complete dinner, I'd have gone to bed a happy camper. We talked about the houses we'd seen, enjoyed the live music and our drinks. Was visiting Santa Fe for first time this week. Tuesday night stopped into the Dragon Room for after dinner cocktails. Sat at the bar and had fabulous service from bartenders Ever and David. They're both cocktail craftsmen. I appreciated Ever's recommendations on tequilas and mezcals to try to get me out of my bourbon comfort zone. The "En la Madre" became my drink. I ended up getting zucchini fries - Yum-O (not too much breading which was nice). It's a smaller bar, so made it easy to chat with others at the bar and trade stories on what to see and do in Santa Fe. Dragon Room had a nice and chill vibe. I ended up ending Wednesday and Thursday nights at Dragon Room - my Santa Fe home away from home. Been going there for years. Terrific atmosphere. Unfortunately they've changed bartenders. Two of the most depressed and hateful people in the service business. The female gave me a short pour of Chardonnay because she was too lazy to open another bottle. She also overcharged us all on our bar tab. The place was better before the remodel. Drink prices are raised almost by half. Their margarita, formerly 8.50 USD is now $15.00 (albeit delicious - has to be for that price!). No more quesadillas and nachos for snacks.. :-( The bartenders and wait staff now wear trendy aprons. Clientele is more gentrified and less "Old Santa Fe". The popcorn machine is gone as well. I was excited about the reopening until I went. The new owners (Serets) have sucked the soul and charm out of one of the greatest bars in the world. It is no longer a place to hang out, have some snacks and a drink in a funky bar. The free popcorn is history. Chips and queso are now $19. You have to be seated by a host at tables with tablecloths. The bartop is for dining...heard them tell customers standing at the bartop is no longer allowed. It is now a dining room with a limited menu. As for the menu... the recipes are slowly changing. The Steak Dunigan is a shell of what it once was and the Tournedoes Bordelaise was a tough sirloin on a cheap puff pastry. Another fabulous experience in Santa Fe. We were lucky enough to get a space at the bar for two, had incredible cocktails, conversation and then LIVE MUSIC! Thank you, and the food looked amazing. Although I am from Houston I am just a visitor. My grandmother lives here in Santa Fe and she highly recommended this place along with her friends. The pink adobe/dragon bar was very on theme which I love, dragons everywhere with paintings of dragons! So cool. The service was alright. I got the Clams Lucifer and for $18, definitely not worth it. Very little food for a big price tag. I liked the spice tho! I guess they're Trying to fill the void of last year with the pandemic and all. I love the Dragon Room. Whenever I have friends visiting, or need a go-to happy hour spot, I think of it first. The $5 margaritas during happy hour and discounted appetizers are a great way to get the night started. Ask for the other food menu they have on hand, especially for the list of desserts they have on hand. The apple pie ala mode with the raisin-rum sauce and pecans was delicious if you have more of a sweet tooth.
