If you need keys made, this is a one stop shop. A REAL locksmith and key shop! I lost an important set keys that had a key for my travel trailer door, a Master hitch pin lock, Master hitch lock, and locking truck gas cap and the key for my truck toolbox. They were able to make them all and spares while we waited and at a fair price compared to even a big box store. We also brought in a couple of small safes that we lost keys for and they are making keys for those as well. Tip: They should be there, but call first - they may be out on a call and may be closed on Fridays. read more

Great people, fast service! I wasn't able to use my original keys to unlock my car manually. I was quoted $800.00 by a local shop who said they were going to keep my car for perhaps a day and a half. But Security Lock & Key did everything for under $250.00 including a transformer and remote key. All the work took under 1 hour to do! There are benches across from the Post Office to sit while you wait but also nice restaurants, bakery and beverage businesses and gift stores to keep you occupied while the work is getting done. This is a real locksmith. Not one of these stupid kiosks that claims to be a self serve locksmith... What a joke. From the second I walked in I knew I was in the right place. First off, they made a key for me that nobody else had, and second If you needed true locksmith services this is the place. They stock a lot of high-end quality padlocks door locks. Had some bad renters and needed the locks re-keyed. Stopped and talked to an older gentleman, told him what I needed and was given a price and made an appointment to get the work done. I was not there when they came to do the work. I left a check with my worker and got a call from my worker after they did the work. The price was twice what I was told. I called and was told I was given the wrong price quote and the service technician was correct.  The person on the phone was very rude, the work had been done and was paid for. Not much I could do about it then. Never again! Bait and switch or some kind of scam, not sure? I guess I should have gotten it in writing? Very poor business practices! Sure wish I had looked at Yelp prior to using this outfit. There is another review from 10/8/20 where one of their employees pulled a gun on someone, shows a picture of that lock and key employee being handcuffed by police right after. Pretty darn scary to think they have the mentality of being superior! Another person had the same thing happen to them with the drastic price increase after being told a lower price. I needed a key duplicated for a BMW - not cut from a VIN file, but truly duplicated from my old key. As no one in Stockton would cut it, I called, Security, in Lodi. They told me that they could do this for me. I told the gentleman that I was in Stockton, and would have to drive over on a different day. At that point, I should have been given. warning, but wasn't. So, I got over there around 2 PM. As I walked in, a woman was helping another customer. I over heard her tell him that his key required a special process, that it would take them an hour to do it, and that they'd call him when it was ready. He left his job for them and left the store. I approached the woman and explained what I needed, and that I'd been told I could come over from Stockton and get it done. She proceeded to give me the same bit about the key taking more time than usual, an hour and a half, and that she'd calm when it was ready! Now, as I was standing there, telling her again, that I'd driven from Stockton, and also pointing out that she now had the only key to my car, I seriously expected her to put me ahead of the local customer, who'd already left, agreeing to return when they called him. She told me that I was in downtown Lodi, and I could go out and walk around! Seriously?!?!? She wanted me, a 76 year old man wearing a Covid mask to go out and stroll around Lodi for an hour and a half! I left the keys with her and started walking. I went maybe 12 blocks, then u turned and walked back one street over. It took me maybe 30 to 40 minutes to make the trip & get back to the shop. When I arrived, the proximity alarm was sounding on my BMW, so I went in and asked her if she had my key handy, so I could shut it off. She walked over to a shelf and picked it up. I'd been gone around 40 minutes, and they still hadn't even STARTED on my job! I went out and turned off the alarm, returned the key to her, sat down in a chair provided for their customers & started watching TV on my phone. After maybe 10 minutes sitting there, their locksmith finally came out front & revealed himself, asking me a question. Within about 3 minutes of that, I heard a machine cutting a key. About 5 minutes later, I was called up to pay for my key & received it - FIVE minutes! That's all the time it took him to make my key! So, the woman at the counter not only wasn't considerate enough to put an out of town customer, who also happened to be elderly & with a quick job, ahead of a local customer with a lengthy job, & who'd left the store to await their phone call, she also literally lied to me about the time it would take to cut my key. BMW had already made me a key from the VIN #, but it would only work in the doors & trunk, but couldn't rotate the ignition switch. That's why I needed a true duplicate of my old key, as it works fine. Their copy of my old key does turn my ignition, so they did solve my problem. They do good work, they're just inconsiderate, hence only 3 stars! I'll only return if they're the only alternative, and they aren't! read more

ORIGINAL REVIEW WAS ONE-STAR BUT HAS SINCE BEEN UPDATED TO THREE STARS I walked into the store three weeks ago to get an estimate on re-keying thirteen locks around my house, which would most likely include replacing some of the hardware. Glenn was very nice and seemed to know his stuff. But I haven't heard a peep from them in three weeks regarding an estimate or even a timeframe in which to expect an estimate. I've called three times (they've never reached out to me) and left a message each time to request at least some kind of expected time period. No response. Granted, this is probably on the larger side of jobs, but I really don't appreciate the lack of contact and status updates. They get good reviews, so maybe the work is worth waiting for, but I don't know if I'll ever find out. I will update my review if my job ever ends up getting completed by this business. EDIT: The job was finally completed yesterday. Everything was completed in a very satisfactory manner, and in a fairly short amount of time, considering the size of the job. Glenn was very professional and was able to answer our questions while he was there. So, in short, great work if you can get to the work being done. I'm leaving my review at three stars because it was such a pain to actually get the work done, took over a month, and multiple follow-ups on my end with no communication on their part. read more

Everyone wanted $260.00 to replace since the key is coded. My car wouldn't start without the housing part of the key. I called this morning and got a voice mailbox of a woman(didn't say anything about lock and key service), so I hung up. A few minutes later I received a call from that number. She said she was the lock service. As I was telling her what I needed, the call dropped. I called back, got the same voice mail and couldn't leave a message because the mailbox was full. When I walked in the store I was greeted by a Pit bull. I told the person behind the counter I'm afraid the pitbull. He did not get the dog or put it away. When he gave me a quote for my fob it was $45. The whole time the pitbull stayed by my side until a customer got between me and the pitbull! The dog then lunged at the customer making a weird noise. We recently purchased a vintage home in Lodi, whilst to change the locks I accidentally lost the cylinder. I called Security and set up and appointment to have them install the replacement lock and deadbolt I purchased and re-key two other locks to be the same as the main. With all of the road construction around the city hall area, I've had to park on the street in front of my residence for 11 days. Went out today to finally get my car in my garage and my key wouldn't turn on my '99 4Runner. No luck...nada. Frozen ignition, worn out key. After calling several businesses in the area for quotes, Glenn at Security Lock and Key quoted me $75 for the service in question(which was slightly lower than others). He understood exactly what needed to be done and I was told that everything went as planned, indicating that the total cost should have been what I was quoted. Yet, upon my check-out the bill was $130. I stated, "But Glenn quoted me $75". I would have taken it down the street if I would have know it was going to be $130 because I received other quotes for less. Bill, the clerk said, "let me ask Glenn". He went in back, spoke with Glenn, who never came to the front to clear up the mix-up or clarify the confusion or explain why the difference in amounts, and Bill returned and said,"Yep, it'll be $130".
